On Social welfare:

Social Welfare Plan for the less advantaged
Approximately 110 million
Nigerians live on less than
NGN160 per day. This condition
of extreme poverty contributes
to illiteracy, poor health, the lack
of or inadequate shelter, poor
nutrition and early death.
In the absence of a safety
net for the poorest and most
vulnerable, the vast majority will
die before medium to long-term
help arrives. The peculiarity of
Nigerian society also shows that
a significant number of unskilled
workers, and those in the informal
sector will have nothing to sustain
themselves in retirement.

APC’s Roadmap for Social Welfare Includes:
◾ Implement a phased Social Security Benefits Scheme for the unemployed
and vulnerable, beginning with poor disabled and poor elderly citizens.
◾Direct conditional monthly cash transfers of NGN5,000 to the 25
million poorest and most vulnerable citizens upon demonstration of
children’s enrolment in school and immunization, to help promote job
empowerment.
◾ Alleviate the sufferings of pensioners in receiving their pensions by
ensuring that pensions are paid on time, and substituting long distance
travel and difficulties associated with going to Abuja or state capitals with
a procedure that brings both the verification and payment process to
Local Government Areas.
◾ Promote legislation and initiatives that protect vulnerable and disabled
people from discrimination and exploitation.

On Housing:

Housing Plan
Inadequate housing is one of the major challenges facing
Nigeria. Poor and working-class families lack homes, as
well as many hardworking Nigerians approaching the
end of their careers. APC is committed to increasing
the supply of quality housing through a policy of social
housing for the poor and vulnerable and affordable
housing for working-class Nigerians.

APC’s Roadmap for Social Housing includes:
◾ Achieve the construction of one million low-cost houses within
four years for the poor.
APC’s Roadmap for Affordable Housing Includes:
◾ Minimize income as a barrier for people to live in a safe and
affordable home, by increasing access to financing and
promoting a working national residential mortgage market as
a matter of urgency, so that Nigerians of varying income levels
can access affordable mortgages at single-digit interest rates
based on federal guarantees to the mortgage lenders.
On Healthcare for children and adults:

Healthcare Plan for Children and Adults
The health of our nation depends on the health of our people. Today,
the life expectancy of the average Nigerian is a mere 52 years.
Most families lack money for adequate health care, and too few
communities have access to quality health facilities or medical
professionals.

APC’s Roadmap for Health Care Includes:
◾ Provide free quality comprehensive health care based on a national health
insurance scheme.
◾ Stop all travel abroad at government expense for the purpose of medical treatment.
◾ Encourage medical professionals to establish practices and work in rural and
medically underserved areas, by providing incentives including tuition and other
training reimbursement for such professionals.
◾ Provide incentives for Nigerian doctors and health practitioners working abroad to
return home, to strengthen the health care industry in Nigeria and provide quality
care to those who need it.
◾ Double the number of practicing physicians and health care professionals in Nigeria
and increase the quality of federal teaching hospitals to world-class standards.

On Agriculture:

Restore Nigerian Agriculture
Nigeria was once a leading
agricultural producer, helping feed
other parts of the world. Today, our
decline in productivity means we
must import essential goods like
wheat, rice, sugar and milk, costing
us billions every year.
With 40 percent of our land able to
support farming, Nigerian agriculture
can and must be restored to move
families from subsistence farming,
create new jobs in agriculture and
related fields, and provide the
accessible and affordable supply of
food necessary to feed a nation.

APC’s Roadmap for Restoring Agriculture Includes:
◾ Provide a government-guaranteed market for agricultural produce at
world index-linked prices.
◾ Revive agriculture as an engine for economic growth and new jobs,
including the expansion of agricultural processing and manufacturing.
◾ Aid subsistence farmers in increasing food production and creating jobs
by modernizing and commercializing farm production, and increase the
availability of loans and capital investments for small and medium-scale
cash crops.
◾ Make more land available and prepared for farming, and encourage
young people to enter into farming through incentives such as incubator
hubs and price guarantees.
◾ Make sure farmers have access to the resources they need, such as
seeds and fertilizer, by enhancing agricultural extension services and
food inspectorate divisions.
◾ Ensure Nigeria’s food supply is affordable, reduces food-borne illnesses
and improves nutrition through a nationwide food inspectorate division

On free education:

Free Relevant Quality Education
Quality education is essential to prepare our youth for the jobs
of tomorrow. Unfortunately, our system is failing them: half of our
children who complete primary six cannot read, and more than 10
million children of primary school age do not attend school.

We must invest in quality teachers, schools and colleges to equip
current and future generations with the knowledge and skills they
need to gain employment, live productive lives and contribute to
the welfare of their communities. Our future depends on it.

APC’s Roadmap for Free Relevant Quality Education Includes:
◾ Make the right of every Nigerian child to receive a free, relevant and quality
education a reality, based on free and comprehensive primary and secondary
education.
◾ Provide free tertiary education to students pursuing Science and Technology,
Engineering and Math (STEM).
◾ Provide free tertiary education to education majors and stipends prior to their
employment as teachers.
◾ Create incentives and dedicate special attention to the education of girls.
◾ Ensure every child attending primary school is properly nourished and ready to
learn by providing a Free Meal a Day.
◾ Invest in better equipping and staffing Teacher Training Colleges and provide
financial and progression incentives to attract and retain good teachers.
◾ Revamp and restructure education curricula from primary to tertiary levels with a
view to ensuring students acquire the right skills for employment, entrepreneurship
and innovation.
◾ Prepare young adults for the jobs of the future by expanding the focus on science
and technology at our colleges and universities.
◾ Improve the ability of people to gain employment in a variety of fields through
greater access to technical and vocational training.

On corruption:

Fight Corruption
Corruption is crippling Nigeria. Bribes and shady deals come at the
expense of real productivity by businesses and government, and
prevent us from investing properly into education, roads and health care
– the services people need to live better lives. A leading international
organization cites Nigeria as having one of the highest levels of
corruption in the world, a true badge of shame.

APC’s Roadmap for Fighting Corruption Includes:
◾ Show zero tolerance for official and/or private sector corruption.
◾ Place the burden of proving innocence in corruption cases on persons with
inexplicable wealth.
◾ Pursue legislation expanding forfeiture and seizure of assets laws and procedure
with respect to inexplicable wealth, regardless of whether there is a conviction
for criminal conduct or not.
◾ Strengthen legal provisions to prevent stay of proceedings and other delays in
corruption trials.
◾ Guarantee the independence of anti-corruption and financial crimes agencies by
legislation, charging their budgets directly to the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
◾ Stop corruption in our elections, in part by making the Independent National and State
Electoral Commissions (INEC) truly independent and free from political interference.
◾ Improve the ability of citizens to keep an eye on their government, with more open
access to government data, greater disclosure of government contracts prior to
awards and during implementation, and ensuring the people’s business is done in an
open and transparent way

To create a vibrant economy where jobs and opportunities
are more readily available, every individual, civil servant,
business and government leader must play by the same
rules, obey the law and reject the temptation of bribery and
corruption.
PoliticsRe: APC: Road Map To A New Nigeria. by Gbawe2(op): 12:18pm On Nov 30, 2014
On Job creation:

Create Jobs
Roughly one in four Nigerians, and half of young job seekers are
unable to find work. The number of people whose jobs do not cover
the cost of food and housing is even greater. In addition, major
industries that pay higher wages account for just over five percent
of the economy.
The lack of jobs is the most critical challenge facing Nigeria today,
hurting every community and preventing us from being the truly
vibrant and prosperous nation we deserve. Building a diverse
economy that allows every Nigerian to earn a living and better
care for his or her family is our number one priority

APC’s Roadmap for Jobs Includes:
◾ Create 20,000 jobs per state immediately for those with a
minimum qualification of secondary school leaving certificate
and who participate in technology and vocational training.
◾ Encourage State Governments to focus on employment creation
by matching every one job created by the State Government
through funding with two jobs created by the Federal
Government in the same state.
◾ Direct conditional monthly cash transfers of NGN5,000 to the 25
million poorest and most vulnerable citizens upon demonstration
of children’s enrolment in school and immunization, to help
promote job empowerment
◾ Establish Technology/Industrial Estates fully equipped with ICT, power and other support
across the country to attract and encourage small-scale technology businesses and
other entrepreneurs.
◾ Provide allowances to discharged but unemployed Youth Corps members for 12 months
while they seek jobs or acquire training and skills for job placement or entrepreneurship.
◾ Establish plants for the assembly and ultimately the manufacture of phones, tablets,
computers and other devices.
◾ Pay a guaranteed indexed-linked price to farmers to ensure that there is always a ready
market for their produce, which will create more jobs, agricultural related employment
and sustain existing jobs.
◾ Provide One Meal A Day for all primary school students that will create jobs in agriculture,
including poultry, catering and delivery services.
◾ Create a scheme that provides matching funds for businesses that have already been
validated and secured funding elsewhere, including by borrowing, if such business will
create a minimum number of skilled jobs.
◾ Support training centers created for skills acquisition or vocational training by providing
infrastructure for such institutions and matching grants where necessary, and organize job
fair and recruitment exercises at such institutions.
◾ Embark on vocational retraining and skills acquisition for unemployed graduates, school
leavers and drop-outs emphasizing technology and construction such as plumbers,
electricians and tilers, which will feed the public works and social housing schemes
among others.
◾ Invest in large-scale public works projects, beginning in the first quarter of the administration,
including a modern national railway system and interstate roads, to energize our economy
and create new businesses and jobs throughout Nigeria.
◾ Implement a social housing policy of one million low-cost housing units in the first four years,
which will create housing and increase skilled and unskilled employment.
◾ Promote technology transfer, including investing in new and less expensive technologies
(as in the building of affordable homes) to create more jobs.
◾ Make Nigeria a global hub for Internet and telecommunications services, including
outsourcing and cloud computing, to create millions of new jobs.
◾ Dramatically increase the number of small and medium-sized enterprises that produce new
jobs, with industrial hubs focused on their creation and growth in all regions of the country.
◾ Increase investments in research and development, particularly in the areas
of science and technology, to create jobs in high-demand fields.
◾ Improve the entrepreneurial, vocational and technical skills of youth in areas
such as technology, agriculture, manufacturing and other important fields, to
prepare them for the jobs of the future.
◾ Ensure women receive fair treatment in employment, education and housing,
and encourage affirmative action for women based on merit.

A New Party For A New Nigeria
Nigeria is changing. We are a young and dynamic nation, where individual
citizens strive hard to improve their lives and those of their families. Yet
a culture of greed and corruption is holding us back, with trust in the
government’s ability to create jobs and address basic needs at an all-time
low.
The disappointment of people in their national government is
understandable, as more than 100 million Nigerians are forced to live on
less than 160 Naira per day.

The APC’s philosophy is the welfare of the common man, the assurance
of a great future for the youth, and a decent quality of life of all. The APC
is determined to give a voice to the youth, mekunu, the umu obenye, and
the talakawa.
The test we have adopted for all our policies is: “Will this policy create
jobs and benefit the youth and ordinary Nigerians?”
We are committed to nation where every citizen has the opportunity to
work and earn a decent wage, and where the disadvantaged elderly, the
disadvantaged disabled and the unemployed are assisted by the state.
A nation where the curse of corruption is no longer tolerated in our

PoliticsRe: I Regret Not Having A Yoruba As Speaker. Jonathan by Gbawe2: 9:58am On Nov 29, 2014
Jonathan,in trying to be all things to all men, playing politics of ethnic division and rancour again. What else is new? This ethnic baiting has always exemplified Jonathan's parochial and prejudiced outlook. One wonders how unintelligent our President is to be patronising the intelligence of a Yoruba audience by stating that he intended for a Yoruba to be speaker in 2011.

This incredibly silly and ethnocentric attempt at currying favours from the Yorubas , ahead of the 2015 poll, will be offensive to the most intelligent and exposed Yoruba person who appreciate that it is ridiculous and hypocritical of GEJ to suggest he would prefer to influence which ethnic group got what instead of letting stakeholders (Reps themselves) determine who leads them. Is it too much to ask for a President who thinks before he says whatever comes into his Machiavellian mind?
PoliticsRe: Tambuwal`s Defection: Why Yoruba Must Redeem Themselves.. by Gbawe2: 9:43am On Nov 29, 2014
akins56:
I think tinubu/acn's action then was expediently taken, if akande had been elected as speaker, PDP would have used her influence and popularity to torment tinubu and APC right now, and that would be a clog in APC's progress, like a war general would say, ''Never empower your enemy'', i think tinubu read that somewhere and he does justice to that!, i support his actions!
Thank you very much. What have we gained from federal PDP appointments/positions anyway since 1999? The OBJ Presidency delivered nothing beneficial for the SW and only did serious damage to the region through the vast number of retrogressive misrulers foisted on the people everywhere.

Dimeji Bankole did absolutely nothing with his position as Speaker HOR. Yet some Yorubas, with revisionist nostalgia, talk as if a SW PDP speaker would have done anything to promote the "relevance" of the SW given the exhaustive lessons history has handed down to us about what the PDP in the SW is about.

Even Obanikoro's pro-PDP antics of late, as junior defence minister of Nigeria, is an indicator of what a SW PDP speakership would be deployed for right now i.e a completely biased tool for serving the interest of the PDP in the SW and not the people. Tinubu and ACN did the right thing precisely. Kudos to them. The PDP should remain impotent in the SW so that politics continue to be about "perform or be booted out". That is the best thing for the development of the SW. Let us never witness a 'strong' PDP again when we all saw how that concept , under OBJ, only meant a disregard for the will of the electorate which saw undeserving crooks forced on the people everywhere. They say "be careful what you wish for". Some Yorubas are too myopic to learn anything from history and understand that very important saying.

M nt a fully bred yoruba

Then start saying u didn't see any GEJ work
What "selfish interest"? Grow up for God sake . Gain some maturity and ability to think critically. Can people like you not even learn from recent history that showed what the SW PDP, through Dimeji Bankole, made of the Speakership HOR? Any benefit of that to the SW? Why don't you tell the forum what the SW gained from having a PDP speaker in the past?

The decision of the then ACN to not support the emergence of a SW PDP speaker was a strategic and entirely understandable one every pragmatic and fair-minded adult, to include PDP supporters, would understand. ACN, after working hard to gain control from a "do or die" set of bullying gangsters, always ready to abuse every federal position at their disposal as we saw Obanikoro doing of late, simply did not want a path back to political relevance for the PDP the speakership position may provide. History has shown us in the SW that important positions in the hands of SW PDP means zilch for the region (Dimeji Bankole as speaker HOR) and could even inflict serious pain and backwardness on the SW as was the case with the OBJ Presidency that was used as a way to foist criminal-minded misrulers on the people of virtually every SW State bar Lagos.

It is time people like you begin shunning sentiments to see what matters. You don't uplift and strengthen the arms of an enemy who will then use those stronger arms to strike you down. This is what ACN believed in and worked to prevent by refusing to back a PDP SW speaker. You may not like it but you will understand it if a pragmatic adult.

But same noise and promises are back, we Nigerians tend to forget easily.

This is what I have always insisted . I.e Jonathan has failed at tackling the major issues ailing Nigeria. He has even worsened many of our biggest problems deliberately and directly so that him and his group of private jet Oligarchs can loot Nigeria brazenly and mercilessly. It really is amazing how , in this day and age, a nation can end up voting for a President whose history shows he likely to be a big part of the problem rather than the solution.

This President has then gone on to show he has nothing to offer over 5 years, as your list shows, yet some pathetic clowns are trying to say our monumentally failed President deserves another 4 years? Nigeria is simply an Incredible and logic-defying nation.

When the Police, DSS and other Nigerian security forces are too busy running errand for the Presidency and the PDP how can they ever do their job effectively? This is another of Nigeria's major problem GEJ has worsened completely. I.e the bastardization of our institutions to leave them more unprofessional and entirely lacking in independence and purposeful integrity.

When the NPF laid siege to the NASS and a DSS spokesperson (Ogar) dumped all pretence to professionalism and neutrality to announce, without any proof whatsoever, that the opposition Party is behind the bombing of Nigeria then it is crystal clear our security forces are merely an extension of the PDP.

onatisi:
The benchmark should never have been pegged at 78$, it should have been 70$.
Bro,it is not so much about a rigid focus on benchmark as even Obasanjo insinuates. Issues are about Nigeria putting in place adequate contingency plans that recognise the economic reality and volatility attached to depending on oil earnings in a world where Shale and many other convergent developments (cheaper and more practical cost of solar energy and other renewable/clean fuel, mass produced electric cars, political/economic one-upmanship battles changing the energy dynamics et al) glaringly indicate that oil prices may drop drastically.

What good would your suggested $70 per barrel benchmark be if crude falls to $50.00 per barrel within that budget period? This is nothing but an indictment of how hideously corrupt/profligate and shockingly bereft of foresight/responsibly responsive leadership the GEJ government is. Let us shun political bias and call a spade a spade abeg. We are dealing with atrocious economic mismanagement 101 here. No need to start blaming 'benchmark'and other trivial side issues that are really not pertinent to the overarching and much deeper fundamental failure of the FG to do the right thing and plan effectively.

Alj, it is with posts like this you show your 'impostor' backbone of blatant dishonesty, deceit and deception. The article writer, a well-known pro-Jonathan charlatan and hypocritical sycophant, is delivering his usual dishonest, unobjective and revisionist bullcrap that defies reality. If you and him are genuine and truthful Yoruba Omoluabis you will have no problem, even if you hate the man, admitting the reality we all witnessed which is that Tinubu brought relative peace and unity to SW politics considering the "door or die" days during the "locust years" of PDP rule before the current crop of APC governors took over. No genuine Yoruba omoluabi can forget what Oyo was like when it was being terrorised by Alao-Akala, Adedibu and NURTW thugs. What is the reality under Ajimobi today? Use your own mouth to confess this to the forum.

What of Ogun State under Gbenga 'elebo' Daniel and his killer squad? Any comparison of those days, which justified Yoruba land been labelled "wild west", to what we have under Amosun?

What of Osun State? Do you know the before and after Aregbesola reality and are you willing to be truthful about such here?

Criticise Fayemi all you want but Ekiti was peaceful under his rule even as the people, as entitled, ultimately decided to vote him out for their own reasons. Fayose has begun 'displaying' already with the illegal 7-is-greater-than-19 impeachment which has caused political chaos and toxic division in Ekiti less than even three months of the State gaining a new Governor !!!!

Not only have APC Governors brought peace and stability but they have , because they are all omoluabis, created a pleasant environment throughout the region where good camaraderie, benevolent mutual cooperation and a productive working relationship exist between Governors and States of the SW while this was glaringly missing when PDP controlled the region. We all know the writer of the article is a shamelessly dishonest 'agbaya'. Should we not say same of you since you also share his penchant for dishonest revisionism and an inability to call a spade a spade simply because of the blind hatred of Tinubu uniting you and Aribisala?

Hide from, gorrilla and apelike nonentity like you. You saw it clearly I put the name clearly myself not once not twice.

Go get a life fool and stop spamming my mention, I don't stock bananas to give you.

Can see you have remove that your gorrilla profile pix with matching goatee.

You are a perfect example of a joint effort at procreation, your father's garderner, his driver and the houseboy all contributed spermatozoa to produce you hence the way you came out looking like a relic of the stone age. Go get something doing and stop trolling, if at your age you still act stupidly and craziky then all hope is lost that you can ever make it in life.

Get off my mention, I haven't got the time for apelike morons
Please ignore that small-minded nonentity and attention-seeker. We all know that:

I have 'a lot more' other qualities too, aside looking adoringly presidential in my pictures but, I still am not the president.
Just saying...
You should not be telling me this. You should be picking up your political expression of interest form to contest to be the Nigerian President. No one will make you President from your keyboard in your lounge.

So na rape scandal na PDP wan take close e mouth since 2015 is around the corner.
Bros, Sowore is untouchable and they are merely wasting their own time. I would imagine that antics like this only spur him on to be more dedicated and focused on his work.

Sowore really is a thorn in their flesh. Continue to do your thing Sir and leave others to their 'Nollywood' tales.

I look presidential in so many of my pictures but, that doesn't make me a president
No one is telling you it is about looks alone but the reality is that looking the part helps a lot. Of course there should be a lot more to a candidate in addition to looking Presidential. Thankfully, this is the case with Buhari.

This man is OLd we need a young person for president
When will we Nigerians begin to shun prejudice (ageism, Sexism, religious discrimination, homophobia, caste discrimination, ethnic bias et al) to see what matter and take a merit-based approach to issues? Dimeji Bankole and Jonathan are "young" yet what have both achieved for Nigeria? If anything, Jonathan has shown the world conclusively that the "young" man , unapologetically entrenched in 'bling' and private-jet culture, may be the worst and most merciless looter of the commonwealth of the people.
