Siena: At that speed, the camera will most likely be mounted on a tripod, or fixed holder. You don't want to hold a camera by hand at that speed.
Actually it appeared som1 else was holding the camera on the passenger side front seat. because at intervals he'll look up at the M5 and at the dash board..

@ siena, something about that video was the car appeared so stable and quiet wish I could post it for guys 2 see.
Car TalkRe: Fastest Speed You Have Ever Driven: Car, Place, Time? by Gee2728(m): 3:15pm On Dec 31, 2013
@ olamega, no mind us judging by a video I watched days ago what u did is very possible. The video was a 2011 SL500 chasing an F10 M5 at 257km/h and yet the camera filming was so stable. With all the HD mobile devices available this days I bliv its very possible.

Siena: Make: Audi.
Model: A8 Quattro Sport.
Model year: 2005.
Engine: 4.2 V8 2xDOHC 40V.
Fuel: Gasoline.
Power: 340hp.
Torque: 440Nm.
Transmission: 6-speed Tiptronic.
0-62 mph: 6.3 secs.
Maximum speed: 155 mph (250 km/h).

Since I purchased this car, I haven't had an opportunity to unleash her on the open road (not that I would, seeing as speeds exceeding 70 mph are illegal in the UK anyway) wink

Today, I found myself on a private stretch of road, on a disused runway, so I shoved the gas pedal to the floorboards. I maxed out at 152 mph (244 km/h). At that speed, there was no drama, no vibration, no uncertainty. The car was rock steady, and with the windows all shut, no sensation of speed. The only give away (besides looking at my speedo and GPS meter) was an old Cessna 180 that has been outside a hanger for some time, as I swept by. The car is that well insulated. The massive brakes pulled the car up well too, no fade from over heated discs.

Next summer, the Autobahn awaits!
Well done sir, now that is speed cld only imagine the feeling. One thing baffles me tho, so with all the fast cars at ur disposal they are still limited 2 70mph except to private run ways. Anyway I guess its safety first.

@ shagati, i still dnt know y i find it hard to see past the beauty of a bmw E46. its still one of the best looking 3series for me especially the coupes.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 6:44pm On Dec 28, 2013
Shagati: So it's settled then?
BMW X5 3.0

What is your purchase timeline?
Do keep us posted.

In other news, I'm getting a serious h.ard on for the new 3-Series.... The F-something. Gosh she's a beauty. Let me look for an online picture and post
the timeline is hopefully end of nxt month. contacted the agent in florida today and he gave me the following quote $12,500 for a regular version and $14,000 for the sports package. he said the cheapest they got at their dealership is $10,400. n/b all 2005 models. he sent me 2 pics, one is a V8 the other is an I6 so am still not sure which price is which. will still get in touch to clear the air about it.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 10:29am On Dec 28, 2013
yungboss: yes Gee, it's a need for my business next year, its going to be for business purposes...
I'm not a true lover of the SUVs, I like them sedan...
Gee, go for the V8, that car moves like a sedan, it's faster and more sporty than a range, my uncle had the two at a time and he preferred the X,
it's not cheap to maintain though,4.4l v8...( engine used in the e39 540i)
nice one bro. i'll own a V8 someday but not this E53 x5. with all the horror tales about leaking power steering fluid, failed transmission jst to mention a few. i'll be looking at possibly at audi or lexus for a V8. but for now just to move the family on vacation and moving bigger stuffs i guess the I6 will do just fine.

lomomike: So You two have time criticizing me without seeing the negative comments that was hidden. Cartalk isn't like every other general section on Nairaland where you just come and post silly comments, before you make posts on any cartalk thread take time to read the warnings, rules and regulations and disclaimers.
nice job, even if na me post silly comments abeg make u seize my ticket.
Car TalkRe: Car Mileage And Engine Performance by Gee2728(m): 11:10pm On Dec 27, 2013
lomomike: The manner in which a person drives his/her car will always take its toll on the car. If you drive too aggressively, or engage in sudden hard and aggressive acceleration, gear changing (improper gear changing, clutching (improper clutching, reversing, braking and cornering sliding, dragging, drifting. These can really reduce the service age of your car and parts will soon start to fail because you're pushing your car to or even beyond its limit. These result to reduction of performance of such cars.

Ever wonder why its written in most motor car owners manual not to engage in hard acceleration, braking and sharp cornering during the first 1000-1500Km of a brand new car?
My W202 C230k @ 186k miles, every time we up on the highway all we do is high rev driving and mad down-shifts. Honestly there are cars that are just meant 2 be driven like all the features u mentioned above. That was y I traded in my 2004 accord EX for a 2000 C230k, the merc is such a kick.

yungboss: I still have an eye for the e90, but not so comfortable yet with the electrical niggles...one dislike I have for the e90 is the lack of dipstick to monitor engine oil level.
because of other needs I'm thinking of going the 'Toyota Tacoma' way. still considering it anyways
Na wa ooh, from E90 to toyota tacoma. The disparity in ur choice na wa ooh. Hmmm R350, rly dnt know much about it and its got that school bus looks. Want. Something that looks tough and say out my way from the rare view mirror. Saw like 2 E53 X5 on a trip 2 day and rly felt goo about it. Still cnt get my mind off that car.

I wonder Y a V8 X5 still has 2 cost so much 2 maintain despite it poor gas mileage and cost of initial purchase.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 12:08am On Dec 27, 2013
yungboss: Gee,
you've got a fair amount of responses from specific users, my Mechanic cannot be reached, for now so I can't help that much here...but its good you have made up your mind, for me, if I have to pull a truck of that magnitude, it definitely has to be a V8...no question...
v8, hmmmm u try with all the horror stories have read on line. honestly been compering it to a w163 ml350, the x5 3.0i beats it all through in looks and design and am guessing even in performance. the mech told me the I6 are easy to deal with and the parts are readily available.

compered to that 'dead' looking ML interior, the X5 looks so plush and looks like to last a long time and also more expensive.
despite all the bad reviews, since the parts are available and fixable i think a well look after 100k miles should be a good bargain.

yes i said 100k miles cos at least all the 60k miles break down will all ready have occurred and possibly sorted out. will let you know when i find one.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 8:29pm On Dec 25, 2013
tnx for all the response i guess i've got my mind made up then.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 5:35pm On Dec 24, 2013
godssonibk: Please do consider 3.0 as the motor is better. I used to own an E53 3.0 with all the options and it Looks almost like the 4.4 just without the nav and bigger engine. I thin the x5 4,4 litres share same engine with the 2003/04 range rover (L322) and this could be difficult to maintain.
Tnx for the tip, the only issue I have with the 3.0i is that tru out it production life-span 1999-2006 its was thesame engine and power out-put 231bhp. Still wonder how a big car could move on jst 231bhp. If I were 2 go for the 3.0i then I'll stick 2 any of the year range even without the navigation screen cos they all look same except for slight facial make-up and panorama roof..

While u had urs how was the fuel consumption what were the particular issue u had with it and are it spare parts readily available? Will appreciate that. Tnx
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 3:34pm On Dec 24, 2013
It seems there. Is not much house experience on the E53 X5.

I guess I'll just hope for the best while expecting the worst.

samuelk: my sad story.... After church service on sunday, I pulled over at an auto store to get a can of R134 to topup my AC since it was low on gas...i suspected a tiny leak since i parked it while i travelled. While i left my engine running with the bonnet released for the guy to recharge the system, i took a walk about some metres away to answer a phone call only to return and discover that the guy has been draining the gas left in my system all the while in the name of 'letting out the air' like he said. To cut the story short, he then proceeded to refill the system and behold, very warm air from my AC vents. This caused a long argument and other observers had to come in to settle the dispute. We then reached an agreement to fix it the next day since there was no AC technician to diagnose it around.
Went back the next day only to be told that my dryer was damaged. Replaced that and the system picked up again and worked fine for some hours only for it to go warm again. Returned to the workshop to test for leaks in the lines and confirmed that there was none and it was then traced to the evaporator. Now i have to replace my evaporator but the sad part is that my dashboard has to comeout for it to be replaced. sad sad
So sad brother. Those guys have a way of not minding there biz. Nxt time ur A/C goes warm pls check the cabin filter b4 any gas issue comes up. Had a similar experience with my kompressor only 2 find out the cabin filter was blocked with dirt.

yungboss: because of my concern generally for autos, I'll go for the manual, be it the 4.4 or 3.0...however, I have not been able to get in touch with my Mechanic, time has not been there for me to go to his shop, I lost his contacts when I lost my phone recently. He drives the M54 3.0...
Off all the one's have seen online for sale only one was a manual shift. Its such a rarity. Finding one is like looking for a 'needle in a hay stack'.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 11:48am On Dec 23, 2013
Good day bemmer pundits in the house. Would have opened a new thread on my search for a 2003 E53 X5 but since you all reside here I'll need ur help with it. Its been weeks now on deciding which of the early E53 model (4.4i or 3.0i) is cost effective as regards to maintenance and spareparts (never mind the fuel economy).

Based on my search the M62 (4.4i) V8 2000-2003 and the M54 (3.0i) I6 2005 are the most reliable. This are just my own findings online so would not mind any one with personal experience.

While I conducted my search I came 2 a conclusion that no matter the car there are both bad and good reviews about it. I found pple who praised a 2006 4.8si while some regretted ever buying a 3.0i, that's y am keeping my mind open on both engine.

Also found out about the easy faulty transmission system that may even cost as much as half the price of the used car 2 replace which is not good news at all. No wonder a forum member was saying that every1 should stay clear of the V8 because of the one's he saw been chopped -up as spareparts in ladipo(lagos).

Please as you advice me have it in mind the car will NOT be a daily driver, its mostly for highway and long trips. And please dnt advice me 2 get a lexus RX of merc ML. Tnx

Emperoh: More

I wouldn't have bought this car if it didn't show me runs and drives
I wouldn't have bought it if were salt water
I wouldn't have bought it if it cost more than $3500
As long as i don't see a bad engine and transmission, i am likely to grapple with issues.
It is for use in Abuja. What i need now is a good BMW tech

What do you guys think? These are all the pictures i have
nice one bro the interior looks very clean. no mind us wey dey judge u about flooded car grin, most of us dnt even know the true history of our cars after all i heard even this white guys move states and re-write car titles these days. wish u happy and problem less usage
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by Gee2728(m): 9:42am On Dec 18, 2013
Emperoh: Are u in my mind?

What are the likely issues i should look forward to?

I will share pictures of the car once i confirm payment to Copart

Finally,

I had a scare. Someone warned me against buying the xi trim; All wheel drive.
He says the gear is quite complicated. Not just that, it is said to be scarce and costs about N700k

Can someone letter me more on this?
FLOODED cars mostly suffer from electrical issue such as blown out fuses e.t.c...... to me there's nothing wrong with buying so long as u know what ur buying and ur prepared for issue that will arise. most cars pple in naija use are flooded or accident car no matter how clean they look. but at least in ur own case u know what ur buying.
about the all wheel drive issue, all i know is that the system makes the car a bit heavy and u know what weight does to ur fuel consumption, finally have seen a couple of xi's in kaduna here so the car cnt be all that bad since folks are using it.

danadam: Just 186756 miles? That's over 300,000 kilometers. Well, we are all driving high mileage vehicles and with the right/proper maintenance, we can go much higher.
Am hoping 2 clock about 200k miles on her before I retire her someday.

Have had the chance 2 replace her with a W203 but they are not as rugged as they use 2 be. So be nxt year hopefully a big V8 or V6 coupe for the Highway. then a small 4cylinder for everyday running.(Not jap)
Car TalkRe: Mercedes Benz Thread by Gee2728(m): 9:42pm On Dec 07, 2013
Eyop: That will be great Gee2728 so it means you are eyeing the W204 i guess wink. When you mean something small, does that mean you will be switching to the Japanese? I really do love the W204 a lot but all that depends on individual's choice but why V8?
not sure about going for a jap at the moment cos the only one ill wanna try is that nissan gtr and its way out my budget.
w204,hmmmm not rlly with each passing day its a reality that my w202 c230k will be my last c-class.
drove a friends cl500 (v8) about 5months ago from zaria to kaduna and till this moment i cnt 4get the feeling of that rumbling sound.
Car TalkRe: Mercedes Benz Thread by Gee2728(m): 6:04pm On Dec 07, 2013
danadam: @Eyop & Gee2728

I bought her in may 2013 with 250,000 km and I have added over 20,000 km to her. She gets a clean bath every 2 days. I intend to keep her for at least 5 yrs. When the pay is available, I will get a smaller ride (golf mk4) for my local/city runs while the W203 will be strictly for highway travels.
wise choice bro. am also planning on doing a major shake down early next year too. i want a v6 or v8(am open to suggestion) merc for the long trips to maiduguri from kaduna then am gonna trade in my w202 for something small for the local running's.
Car TalkRe: Mercedes Benz Thread by Gee2728(m): 11:18am On Dec 07, 2013
@ danadam, that ur w203 does not look like over 200kmiles at all. nice work in keeping her clean at such a mileage. have heard of someone with over 400kmile w202. mine is just 186756mile
