danadam: W203 Fuel Consumption Statistics

The ride is a 2005 C320 4matic. I've actually never bothered bout my fuel consumption but I decided to care a little when I read two benz brothers post on their W202 Kompressor fuel consumption. I filled up my tank, reset the car's trip meter/mpg and drove like a granpa...LOL
My tank got empty today and I had to refill, not without taking pics of my statistics. I'm satisfied with the result. There is no much difference in fuel consumption between the W202 Kompressor 4 cylinder engine and the W203 V6 engine. The pics says it all.

not bad for a v6 engine but the compressor will still travel about 15km more when u stop to re-fill.

That car was not a success, it ended as soon as it began. Ur biggest concern should be the fact that u'll probably be the only one with it in ur state so shld something go wrong u will have no one 2 ask for advice.

Another knock out punch for the accord. That camry looks unfinished or more like something finished in a rush.

My A/c has been acting up for about 3days now. The air just keeps getting less and not cool by the day, so I took it for check and possibly a re-fill and the fellow showed me some greasy stuff around the a/c compressor meaning ' I got a leak'.

As to the solution, he said 2 me it has 2 be replaced so am asking the house if any1 has had a similar experience with a W202 b4 I go blow some hard earned cash on it. Tnx.

Watched a review ystday abt an E90 bmw 325i. The guy said most bmw HP are rated at the wheels, so for a 325i with 215hp is equivalent to another brands 230hp.

House pls how true is this... Tho me I bliv what his say cos of an experience I had some time ago while trying 2 chase down an old looking E36 325i in my W202 C230k. I cld not keep up at some point I felt the numbering behind the truck was wrong.

This bmw guys cnt be trusted there's something they dnt say about their cars.

Bought a 2K4 E.O.D ex but was so disappointed at its performance and I also had issues with the gear box. Ended up trading it in for a 2k C230k ' a kick ass of a car' well built and never shy of clocking 220km/h on the high way.

I saw a 2014 S-class around station roundabout in kaduna days ago. Yes I mean it its here already, and in my heart I bliv it might belong to some1 that is championing the use of locally made cars. This our govt pple not serious at all if all the money they spend on this expensive "whip" were paid here it will make a lot of difference. Inno does not need common Nigerian's 2 buy it cars cos the federal govt alone can cover for that.

Everytime I look at my car I cnt help but wonder how it came about, only God knows the kind of title the car is since this guys also "wash title of cars too".

SeaGold: NO. Ikenna is a car geek. He knows the working/performance of cars while the Yaris guy will be like: ''how can this 'old' car over speed me? Let me show this driver how far my yaris can undo his''. Without the basic knowledge of car performance, he will naturally throttle down hoping to dust an older model car.

I love speed particularly on highways. I use to chase cars especially when one overtook me in the time past but not until I became knowledgeable on car performance, I don't dare such suicide mission anymore. I know cars I can easily give a run for their speed anyday anytime

The reviewer didn't mention track in particular, he only said after intense heavy throttle.

I traded my 2004 honda accord EX for a 2000 C230 kompressor cos I wanted a car that could be driven very hard.

The same reason am eying a E46 bmw 330ci over a E90 325i.

Raced my W202 C230k against a friends W203 C240......u know what, the 202 won.

I drove his 203 and he drove mine, I reved his as hard as I cld but cld nt catch up. At the end I realize his CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS was on. So that say a lot.

Can someone tell me what s really wrong about turbos? whats the fear?

My understanding of turbo is that it makes the ride more efficient with greater performance even at smaller engine size.
Please can someone really tell what is all these fear with turbos?

Nothing is wrong with turbo chargers, the problem is how some of the manufacturers make and program them.

A typical example is a review I read on how temperamental the turbos on a E90 335i are that after driving the rly hard all day when u get home its not safe 2 immediately switch of the engine. Allow it run for a while for God knows what 2 happen before switching off.

How man wan take dey remember some of this small small science everyday.

When I finally got delivery of my car, I noticed the following.

1. Coolant, Brake, engine oil and windshield washer low fluid lights as well as ABS and brake pad lights were on when I start the engine. Making the instrument cluster looked like Christmas tree.

2. The Odometer, temp gauge, tachometer and speedometer were not functioning.

3. The automatic climate control unit is not working

4. The coolant fan starts running immediately the carb is on.

5. I saw a can of Dextron III ATF fluid in the boot. When I contacted him; he said he actually put the oil into the transmission! Harshhhhhh . The transmission runs fine, very smooth but I need to drain it before it starts causing damages.

So far, I have been able to solve problem 1 & 2 by removing the instrument cluster. I gently cleaned the pins and everything backed to normal. A "rewire" I called to look into this said I should not bother that "everything will later go". Lol! Clown.

3&4 may be related. I need to change the automatic climate control unit and reprogram it for my car model.

for 5, I have to park the car looking for the recommended MB transmission fluid.

Please house.

Where can I get the recommended MB ATF fluid and how much. Remember mine is 5-SP. I got to know that the fluid should meet MB 236.10 spec sheet. I will need 7.5L

Where can I get automatic climate control unit and how much? I know how to reprogram the stuff to meet my car model.

Benz branded ATF is sold at almost every corner in kaduna. Its so easy 2 get down here. It cost 1K8 for 2 litre.

Abt the fender, the doc told us its was a minor fender bender (crash). Another advantage my friend is looking @ is the fact he knows doc personally and doc does serious routine maintenance on the ride.

He told me 2day that doc has agreed on 1.8mil. But I spoke 2 an agent in lagos 2day and he said a sport packaged 2k7 325i with navigation/idrive will go for about 1.7mil from cotonou.

I and my friend went 2 check the E90 325i yesterday. It was graphite black I think, it had a lot of gadget. It came with the sport package and navigation/idrive. had a little over 120k miles on it. every stuff seems 2 work fine for the time we spent with the car except for a warning light that reads ENGINE SERVICE SOON..

The car also had a badly looking fix on the front fender on the passenger side and to cap it up the whole car will need a re spray. The tires were still in good condition he has a spare in the trunk which obviously he was extra because the car came with run flat and so no spare.

PRICE......... His lip sealed, asking us to make him an offer. My friend is good for 1.8mill

1997 C230 Fuel Economy...

So I've always thought the C230 had decent fuel economy. The Consumer Reports Auto Issue came out today. On page 31 they list cars to purchase if "overall" fuel economy is import to you.

What surprised me is that the 1997 C230 has equal or better economy than the Honda Accord Hybrid (25 mpg), Toyota Matrix (26), Acura RSX (26), and Honda Civic (26) and has darn close economy compared to Mazda 3 (27), Toyota Celica (28) and Toyota Corolla (29). I think, though, that most of these run on regaular unleaded, rather than the high test, expensive stuff the Mercedes requires.

I drive the piss out of the C230, mostly in urban and suburban conditions with maybe 20% highway. Today, on Winter blend fuel, I put in 15.17 gallons to cover 395 miles. That's 26 miles per gallon. On Summer blend it's slightly better. On a pure highway, cruise set on 70, trip I once went almost 600 miles on just over 15 gallons. That's almost 40 mpg. (Keep in mind about this figure that, with the high final drive ratio, anything over about 70 really cuts into efficiency).

Not the smoothest bugger out there, but relatively powerful and DARN efficient!

danadam: i'm not sure I can achieve 306 miles wit my w203 but i'm gonna give a trial. truth is... I don't bother myself much bout mpg. I won't have bought a v6 benz if I was much concerned bout mpg. nevertheless, it will be nice to know if my ride is actually performing optimally... mpg wise.

I guess we are on same page brother. I jst pray for the will 2 fill it up when its down.

Achieving such a number, I had 2 do boring grandma driving all through.

Watched a brief show days ago...... A E46 3-series chasing a E90 3-series.


The E90 appeared slow while a distance in lead while the E46 was screaming so hard 2 make up 4 pace.

The difference is clear!!

That's all I cld achieve with a full tank of fuel on city drive.... 306miles.

The truth is, i had initially settled for the 2005 325i but the elegance of the Benz C class of the same year is just giving me sleepless nights.
So what i have done is to look for a more beautiful but reliable BMW to take my heart away from the Benz.
My options include; the E90 and E60 which would have made my decision easier. But budgetary and maintenance costs scare me.
The X3 came in handy but lack of information is not helping matters. The next target is the E39. . . .any info on that?

Pls leave that bmw 'CRV' alone. Just look for a very good E46 330i or better still a 3.0i X5 will do any given sunday.

And our beloved brand seems 2 be at the front championing this trend with all LED lamps on the new S-class. Which means one can now have his lamps on 24hrs without the thots of running down the battery.

In the North were am from one is quick 2 be referred 2 as a bush fulani( cattle heard's man) for using a torch during the day, I wonder what 2 call this new trend on cars.

inze: Funny enough, i went for a refill at "the supposed" half-tank.

It took 49litres to fill it up.

Whats ur take on this?

NB: Full tank usually takes about 63litres or thereabout

Have given up on how this fuel gauge thing works. The other day I decided 2 fill up to the brim from almost empty and it took over 65litr to fill up a 63litr tank(as stated on car manual).

The attendant was telling me its my reserve, have read tru my manual and have never seen a reserve tank stated aside the 63litr capacity.

As at yesterday at half tank (city driving) have cover abt 270km already tho have been very soft on the gas peddle which is somthing that is hard 2 do on a C230K.

So by my estimation one will require not less than 70litr from empty 2 actually fill-up. So its either our litre system is diff from theirs or we are been short-changed at the pumps.
