Sorry brother, not as common as the X5. Dnt even know an enemy that drives it.

234CustomCars: I'm speaking from my experience in the U.S and from also what i have seen in Nigeria. My 2001 E38 (740iL) had issues, my 2004 Range Rover had issues (same engine). The X5s I repeatedly see getting sliced like ghana-bread at Ladipo are 4.4s. The majority of them seem to have issues. I didnt speak in absolute terms. When not in the shop though, it's a beautiful engine. Absolutely molests the asphalt.

I guess that's y it cost a kidney and lungs 2 keep those early(00) range rovers. Those BMW V8 could make one hate the idea of a V8 altogether.

234CustomCars: Do NOT and i repeat, do NOT buy any X5 with the 4.4l engine. They "butcher" them (as they say) at the chop shop at Ladipo every single day. I'm there few times a week and there is ALWAYS a 4.4 X5 or 03-05 4.4l Range Rover being "butchered" (Same engine cos BMW owned Land Rover during that stretch). They seem to develop electrical issues that, so far,our local mechanics are unable to resolve. Stick with the 3.0. Less problems and better gas mileage.

Ur not all 2geda right. It depends on the condition ur buying tho I've heard of pple who bought it brand new and still complain of them @ 70k miles. On the right side u'll not go wrong with that 3.0 V6. Its less on power and easy 2 run.

Emperoh: Your customs import duty covers all that.
There is the surface duty and then 5% VAT on the duty which is paid to the Federal government.
All that were built into the Naira price i gave above.

Also, I saw a manual w202 c180 wagon which has the "elegance" tag crested on the body but "Esprit" was crested on the gear stick. There is a chamber in the engine hood for automatic shock absorber fluid Does this automatic shocks come with all these type of vehicles? I tried to locate the VIN at the usual VIN locations but I couldn't find the VIN. What could have happened? Am just curious.

Abt the elegance/Esprit, u know pple can be, a guy use 2 drive around in a car marked S600 but if u look at the features its actually an S500. So only the VIN check can revel the true identity of the car.

My Mercedes Benz C-Class 180, 1996 has no fault, but I have problems getting the code to power its radio system up. This is giving me great concern, as I cannot do without listening to music while driving, at home and in the office. My Mercedes Benz CLS 500 2006 has a fault. When you power the radio system up, it just flashes the Benz logo and shuts itself off again - no sound, no display - nothing. It was working well until i made a mistake of trying to add a woofer and external amplifier to it, obviously, the technician made a wrong move and something just blew up and he cant trace it since. Someone suggests it is the in built amp that is gone bad- but not sure if this is right. Anyone has any suggestions?

My tech guys in kaduna have fixed a similar problem on a E350. And it was also as a result of an add-on by a quack.

Just as my earlier post, the 20litres of fuel just got below the reserve indicator and my trip counter reads exactly 85.0km.

What's ur take on that?

That's very poor.....20lit to do little over 50miles is not good at all. Like I said even my guzzler kompressor will easily beat that.

@ inze, hope the house suggestions help u out. Coz ur consumption rly scares me, even my C230k guzzler cld do 160km on half a tank.... All the best at restoring it.

yungboss: it's a hard-coded key (if I'm not wrong), Trac, Hanson or the experts would know better. I think security may not allow you to purchase and re-programme. An order from a dealer is the best option.
your model I think is similar to Gee's.

Maybe he shld post a pics of his current key.... My key is similar 2 those of current models. Was not sure abt the key cos it looked 2 modern for my car(99/00 W202) but its over a year now and its never flicker a min so I guess who ever hard-coded it did it right.

izyoku: Am sure there'll be well trained guys from cosharis who own their own small places and possibly relatively equipped places. guys if you've got a bimmer and you are on in here and live in lasgidi and don't have a very well equipped technical shop servicing your bimmer lets spot it out.

My brother they aint lying, i own one in PH and i'm always happy all the way, cos of her low maintenance cost and reliability with very durable parts.. I was going to change the steering box of mine today , but i ended up changing the centre thyroid and draining out the steering fluid replacing with a new dextron 3d fluid and my steering became so tight and precise as no other once again, so i come to wonder if the steering box of this car do ever get bad at all, i mean a car that is approaching 20 yrs old and the steering box still handles like new

Some parts of this W202 series just dnt die. Wish I cld take the seat in my car and fix it in a newer series.

When I bought my C230K that check engine light cost me over 50k and still cld not get a permanent solution only 2 later find out it was a blown MOSFET in inside the ECU that cost. Only #400 to replace and problem solved..

My dealer is in lagos at the moment looking for a coupe... Spoke with him yesterday he said its proving quite tasking.

Eyop, dont mind Gee, i know him, not as if there is anything wrong with his catalytic converter-he is only playing save, but it's good practice to swap part like that for better efficiency and performance.He loves that his ride so much that he just want to keep it like new all through. Just like i just want to change the steering box of my c180 this morning, to make it feel so tight like that of my 190. Its good to keep things new and efficient always by so doing, you wouldn't have a down time, you would have settle issues before they even raise their ugly head and get faulty and embarrass you on the way.

yungboss: preventive maintenance is good, but I think it's not the best to change a cat just when there are no signs of failure, well it depends on how you feel. But a good OBD2 tool would be best to use first before embarking on such a costly project...

Dnt have any check lights registering, but jst want to inject some freshness 2 it.

To be on safe side, buy a brandnew or near new bemmer. Checked out a 03 325i 2days ago, it looked clean in black with 3 person memory seat but cld not figure out why the check engine light was beaming.

There was a mint looking 135i (didn't have the pics) parked next to it for about #8.5mil. So do the math, cld there be something we dnt know abt both cars?
