Eyop: My brother, i quite agree with you and is not as if you cannot see the vehicle with that budgeted amount but the question that you should ask yourself is what will be the condition of the vehicle (W203) you are buying? My own version of a clean ride will be different from another person's own. A certified clean ride is one that both the interior,exterior,mechanical,electrical etc will not require you to do anything and the mileage will be very reasonable. I have a friend that went to Togo to purchase a 1997 Mercedes C200 which landed Lagos Nigeria for #1,150,000 and the vehicle was super in all aspect because it was buy and drive.

You can even go online(some of the German used car websites) to find out the cost of some of these cars(a very clean one that has a good service history and will not require any further repairs) from there you can be able to know if your budget is realistic or not. In cotonou a very clean one will not land Lagos at that amount because the Lebanese selling cars will also want to make money from their sales and they won't invest so much money in a certified clean one to enable them sell very fast.

If for W202 then i am very sure that you will get a good one that is clean in and out but for a W203,i doubt if you can achieve that but all that depends on the individual buying anyway cos your own version of clean may not be clean to me. Mercedes Benz is not like a Toyota or any other Japanese that you can gamble with in terms of the mechanical and electrical features so my advice is get certified clean ride that your budgeted amount can carry. Maybe there in the south those c-class be like pure water for u guys, but honestly here in the north and kaduna to be precise its hard to come by such clean 203 as he posted for less than #1.8mill. My 2k W202 C230kompressor cost #1.3mil last year october.

bro hanson if W203 for #1.2mill then am not sure it wld be a clean one. Though we all have our definition of clean cos most W203 I see for less than #1.8mil have been re-sprayed, tired leather seat, and ridiculously high mileage.

Am quite sure for #1mill or less u'll get a W202 C200 or C180.

yes, the white one and mine I guess were the final editions that were made. Thought they didn't come with the rims. Mine is a 2000 model made in late 99. Will post more pictures 2moro God willing.

Abt the wheels I changed them after I bought the car. They are OEM 17', rly givs the ride a bigger look.
Most 2K full-option W202 have there Athena near the roof joint to the rear wind shield like those on the E60 bmw 5 series. Thanks for the compliment, the interior is even more cleaner than the exterior.

Abiodun Adebayo: I drive a Mercedes Benz GL 450 (2009). The display showed ABS; ABS, ETS inoperable, see owner's manual and ABS, ETS unavailable, see operator's manual. A diagnosis revealed that the right side ABS speed sensor was not transmitting to the ECU. This was subsequently changed at a very exorbitant cost. I was also told this was a major problem of the SUV. But reading the threads here indicate that the change may not have been necessary. Although the warning indicators have disappeared, what do I do if it comes up again? I am really worried

changing things in mercedes sharply is not the best for ur pocket, nxt time get as much opinion as possible b4 u do. When I first bought my benz from driving a honda I was inexperienced abt a lot of things. I even changed my A/C compressor(#35000) only to later realize that it was the cabin filter that was dirty. Share ur views with other user first cos to me the mechanic should be ur last point of cal.

Trac: It appears to be the front-left wheel speed control cable and connector for the wheel speed sensor. Why do you want it disconnected? Disconnect the battery and use something logical to clean it and close the connection when appropriate.

I dnt want it disconnected, I removed my front wheel and found it disconnected its been laying there possibly disconnected by the last person that changed the brake pad.

For me the total coolant is way better than the green unlabeled stuff that was in it b4. My dealer cnt seems to get hold of mercedes branded coolant yet so got to make do with what is available for now 'TOTAL'

After almost a whole page of tempered debate I was hoping this coolant issue will not arise again.
As for the ATF use the mercedes branded ones they are quit cheap and easy to get.

C180!!!!!!!, no wonder. Ooh boi u guys are leaving in fuel economy heaven, no wonder hanson talks a lot about his economy. Even the holy book say ' To whom much is given, much is expected'. To achieve 160miles on 30litr I had to rly heavily my cruise control.

smartchoice: not advisable to drive at that level because of dirt particles in the fuel tank. Then which w202 are you driving? mine would have gotten 300km to 30 litres that is 186miles.

186 miles!!!!!! Waoh that's a lot of juice for the money. Its seem ur using the C200? Mine is a C230 kompressor, I did eventually got to 160miles with the 30litrs.

Ur words are strong and very true. Am a graduate of building construction @ A.B.U zaria. After my service year in 2009 have practice for myself since then. The only time I applied for a job was at the firm I served during my service year and the rejected me.

Honestly most of us could do more for urself than the government would.

At what level of the fuel gauge is the tank completely empty?? My W202 is currently at the last level I.e below the yellow light and its still moving. I wonder how many liters or fuel is actually left in the tank when the yellow lights comes on. Knowing this can actually help in accurate calculation of MPG. The last time I filled 30litrs of fuel doing city driving I got abt 155miles though I had 2 drive like a grandpa ( very boring and slow).

yungboss: i'm sure the coupes will be hard to find...that's why i wont trade mine...i rather upgrade it to my taste...i have seen two so far in Port Harcourt though

I was browsing suchen.mobile.de this morning. I selected W202 benz and click Cruise Control to fine tune my search result of 130. Alas! That reduced to two. I was then wondering whether W202 (esp I4 engines) come standard with speedtronic/ cruise control.

Since you guys drive W202 I4 machines, do you have yours come standard with cruise control?

@Trac and Hanson, bury the hatchet pls.

My 2000 W202 C230k has cruise control and it works. But whenever there's an ESP/ABS light on(malfunction) it does not work. Solved mine with a change of breaklight switch.

Cos a couple of things still look somewhat vague to me.

But my main concern is still the cost of keep the car and what likely issues one needs to look out for.
E46 is where i am stuck if BMW.

I drive a W202 C230kompressor, but honestly any given sunday I'll pick that E46 banger over that wacky W203 C240. Pls dnt be fooled that C240 slow infact all day long it wld never run away from my kompressor. The interior maybe well finished but for me that's all abt it.

Was once in a friends E46 330ci, mennn for every time he put his foot on the gas I felt as if my neck was going 2 break. Those E46 are devilishly fast. The maintenance are usually the normal routine, trust me u'll so enjoy this car u'll want to service it even when its not due. But pls shine ur eyes and choose wisely when u buy so that u'll not get a beat down one. Best at it.
