Politics / Re: Orji Kalu Threatens To Sue Fashola Over Forced Relocation Of Igbos by geez1: 2:40pm On Jul 30, 2013
[b]Obviously Kalu is trying to score a cheap political point

It is on record that Yorubas control sectors that dominate the GDP of Lagos

It's no wonder a government like Lagos can look through its books and consider some people very dispensable

Apart from not contributing to the growth of the economy, they are stalling it through crime and the sale of substandard and adulterated products

Seven different sectors dominate economic activities in Lagos State, led by manufacturing which, interestingly, contributes 29.60 percent of the state’s GDP figures. Road transport follows closely contributing an average of 26.47 percent of economic activities in the state. Other sectors in order of dominance include building and construction (19.60 percent); wholesale and retail (8.39 percent); telecommunications (3.71 percent); financial institutions (3.51 percent); and real estate (2.01 percent). The seven sectors account for 93.39 percent of economic activities in the state.

Now tell me which if the seven sectors listed above that the Yorubas don't dominate. Wholesale and Retail? Just 8.39%

Burger01: Just 174! There are more with just primary school leaving cert or with no minimum qualification, I beg sack them all. They are more like manace to the society. Imagine one strangling a driver in the course of forced arrest. Please sack more...

You could give only one instance of misdemeanor while the LASG has sacked 174. Has this ever happened in the NPF despite their daily atrocities? Give it up to the LASG. They may not be perfect but they are unarguably the best as this should send signals to the rest of them.

kettykin: Lagos has very limited land space the few available land space ought to be optimally utilised in the most economical way a sea port and a refinery which is better or even a high speed rail link which could have benefitted the state better and help it play its role as a commerical capital. Lagos state needs to hire a specialist from the world bank on development economics at most just copy hong kong or singapore verbatim and stop accusing your haters when you goof

Where's the goof? Even the existing ports in Lagos are stretched. If the Lekki port is an economic gaffe, then the Onitsha jetty is a colossal waste which was built to politically assuage the Igbos. I consider the Nigerian coastline large enough to build ports that can support the whole of West Africa and we should have considered connecting the ports to the hinterland cites and towns via trains. Still doesn't mean that those who wish me dead wont die before IJN

patrikobi: Governor Sullivan Chime is alive, I am in touch with him --Governor T.A. Orji

The Abia State governor, Chief Theodore Orji has debunked the rumored death of Enugu state governor, Sullivan Chime.
The governor in a statement by his chief press secretary, Ugochukwu Emezue said that Chime is hale and hearty.
According to the governor, those peddling the rumours should refrain from such act as death is not what one should wish a fellow human being.
The governor made it clear that he has been in touch with Chime, stating that he will return soon.
He urged Enugu citizens to remain calm as their governor is in good condition.

I wish the governor well but does the CPS understand the meaning of the bolded text in the quote? undecided

Don't you just love the LASG? The only government in Nigeria that seems to have a structure

With all the NPF's atrocities, how often do you hear them sack just one of their officers

Most LASTMA officials I encounter have been very courteous and even on one occasion when had to scream at one, he remained calm

I have told you that already,u are not smart,u cant pull out tangible facts to challenge me KID cool

A big market that contributes nothing to the state's bottom line in terms of IGR and GDP is nothing but a village square joint and I've been posting figures and links which support my claims but you just immaturely and emotionally rant

Only natives of Lagos can proudly claim the above.

I'm from Lagos but proudly Yoruba and you can't compare the number of Yorubas in Igboland to the number of Igbos in Yorubaland outside Lagos. They are all over the SW which they describe as desolate while Yorubas do not in anyway find the SE attractive for any economic reason

Abagworo:

There is no city in the Southwest better than Aba, apart from Lagos. Your judgement is rather based on pictures of bad areas posted by Abians who are frank in criticizing their non-performing Governor. You hide under the cloak of pride and tribalism and live in those backard cities of Oshogbo, Ogbomosho, Ibadan, Ife, Ilesha, Abeokuta etc. And refuse to show the world how bad the situation is.

Better in what sense? Economically? Just review my posts on this thread. You should know better and this isn't about pictures but GDPs and IGRs. How is the size of an economy determined? The GDP figures cannot be ignored and the GDP of Lagos, Ogun and Oyo are higher than that Abia while their IGRs are also higher.
Politics / Re: Ibadan: One Of Five African Cities To Watch - Financial Times by geez1: 2:48pm On Dec 16, 2012
By the time the SW is screaming poverty, just realize that the SE is already desolate with destitution. Everyone knows that in Nigeria the marginalization chant is a quest for political and not economic relevance. Lagos, Oyo ad Ogun still remain more industrialized than any state in the SE, the poverty and unemployment rates in the SW is way lower. The GDPs and IGRs of the states are higher. How come your so called industrialization has no effect on your GDP and government's IGR? This easily explains the rush to the SW by your people and why less Yorubas are interested in traveling to the barren lands of the east

Your life will be miserable for the rest of it if for any reason you or any member of your family makes a living from, lives in or transacts business in the SW

ak47mann: oyo is not financially stable my friend, just prove to me how much the state generate per capital from her internal revenue expenditure, you are not talking to an illiterate, bragging and showing some fraudulent facts does not hold water.my friend.I have told you about my own state controlling the biggest market in Africa, this is why nigerian police always pray to be transferred to my area because by the time he serve one or two yrs he will build a house in his place and buy a car,do u no why? because FACTS have proved that nigerian police makes billions of naira a year from bribery and corruption from my state and they collect those money from common citizens in the state..If they try that in oyo the state will not survive it because "individually" cannot afford bribing police on a regular basis....

So were did u get ur GDP from?is not from financial times,is from ur Yoruba brethren, of course he will bring bogus claims as usual... go and find a recognized source and come back cool

Below is the IGR for states in Nigeria. Oyo and Ogun state's IGR double the IGR of all states in the SE except Abia which is still behind. You're so illusioned. Eediot! Oyo and Ogun are more industrialized than any state in the SE

Travel / Bayelsa Helicopter Crash: Chopper Exploded Before Crashing by geez1: 9:36am On Dec 16, 2012
It has been reported that the ill-fated helicopter, that the governor of Kaduna state, Patrick Yakowa, a former National Security Adviser, Owoye Azazi, and four others, were travelling in, burst into flames, before plunging into the creeks.

The Presidency released a statement last night, confirming that Yakowa and Azazi, and their aides, Dauda Tsoho and Mohammed Kama; and the pilots, Murtala Daba and Adeyemi Sowole, reportedly died in the crash. Eye witnesses say they were burnt beyond recognition.

The chopper is owned by the Nigerian Navy and is said to have been shuttling repeatedly between Port Harcourt, Yenogoa and Okoroba, the town where an aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Oronto Douglas, was burying his father over the weekend. The governor and the former Security chief, were on their way to Port Harcourt, enroute Abuja.

Multiple reports say the carrier wobbled shortly after it stabilized in air and then plummeted into the swamps around 2.30pm.

This is the third air disaster this year, after a Dana plane crashed on June 3, killing all 153 passengers on board. Another crash which involved Taraba State’s governor, Danbaba Suntai, occured in October, leaving him brain-dead.

I agree with you. I don't know why people equate marginalization to having someone from a particular place in the center when it has been proven that that does not necessarily mean that such region will have a better deal. I'd rather have more federal projects in my place than have someone from my place at the center. That's why the SW has taken their destiny into their hands and voted for a regional party. Now, it's left to be seen what ACN will eventually come up with. We're waiting.

Ask your brothers that live in the SW what they've been seeing
