afam4eva: Even though i don't know what's on ground in Ibadan presently because i've not been there for some time, you shouldn't take the words of politicians seriously. Amaechi would have said the same thing about Aba or any other city if he visited those places.I know Amaechi personally and he rarely says things he doesn't mean. He could easily have said something else and not this and still mean it. Besides they belong to different parties |
Welcome to the future! Welcome to SW Nigeria. |
Imagine this. We hate to see the cow waste. Yes, those slaughterhouse wastes smell bad. But our Dr. Joseph Adelegan has won many awards over trying to get energy from these wastes. He called it Cows to Kilowatts. The Cows to Kilowatts initiative started as a solution to the pressing issue of slaughterhouse water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. He does many interesting engineering by employing powerful anaerobic reactor to process animal waste and blood into quality biogas. He designed the stuff in Ibadan. The captured methane biogas can be used as cooking gas, fuel for household gas generators, and as biofuel for transportation. Any remaining sludge is used as fertilizer. What a bright man! Imagine if Doc visits the slaughterhouse in your town or city and gives you fuel from that. The slaughterhouse waste problem is common in many Nigerian cities and we could be lucky if this reactor is affordable. I do not know the commercial viability because it looks very huge. Yet, with government support, he could improve it. But there is a major progress. The Cows to Kilowatts partnership built its first plant in Ibadan to treat slaughterhouse waste with a $500,000 grant from the U.N. Development Program. The company then raised an additional $200,000 from a World Bank competition and used it to build a bioreactor to generate electricity from cassava waste in the Nigerian city of Ilorin. The Ibadan plant, which generates around 1,800 cubic meters of biogas per day, already provides affordable cooking gas to 5,400 homes. The initiative is also reducing pollution inside the homes of poor families because the cooking gas it sells is cleaner than commonly used fuels. Hope someone called Vision 2020. We have got our own refinery. And it is refining, not crude oil, but cow wastes. http://tekedia.com/777/at-ibadan-cook-your-food-with-slaughterhouse-cow-waste/ |
Should we be surprised? Didn't the governor himself box Peter Obi's aide |
When they were planning, no one heard a word When they did the ground breaking, no cameras flashed When they were 'nearing 80% completion' it wasn't all over Nairaland It's complete now ... And no one is commenting The SW is quietly racing ahead, creating platforms for industries and businesses to thrive. Unemployment rate in Osun is 3% and the state has about the lowest poverty rate in the country. Silently but swiftly, we are getting there |
Paul John: ^^Not sure i could have put this better. Ekiti's Fayemi and Ogun's Amosun are also doing great |
How can you put the name Ogunde in the same sentence with Nollywood? Thank God Yoruba movies came much later to show those Nollywood bigots what a movie should look like |
The land of the rising crime |
Any surprise why the state is the 4th most productive state in Nigeria in terms of GDP after Lagos, Rivers and Delta (which are understandable because of the oyel) with several industries all over the state? And it's amazing how some people will come here and say it is the dirtiest city in the world. Except Amaechi had blinders over his head while he drove around the city |
The Oyo state Governor Abiola Ajimobi has disclosed that the first set of new markets to be constructed by his administration across the Ibadan metropolis would be ready within the next three months. The governor, who made the disclosure while receiving the Chairman of Wemabod Estates Limited, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi and other board members who were on a courtesy visit to his office said that the second phase would commence immediately after the completion of the first phase. The move by the Ajimobi administration is to fullfill the governor’s promise to relocate displaced traders occupying illegal structures across the Ibadan metropolis, as he took a tour of the town to identify with the displaced traders and assure them that more befitting and safer shops would be given to them soon. Within the Oyo state capital all illegal shops, kiosks and shanties are being demolished to give way for a planned and aesthetically befitting outlook, against the cries of discomfort and frustrations by the traders but Gov. Ajimobi led accompanied by all members of the executive during the tour empathise with the traders and give them hope of continued livelihood. He promised that every displaced trader would be given new shops at the neighbourhood market nearby within the next few months. Gov. Ajimobi disclosed that the neighbourhood markets will be located at both sides of the old toll gate at the Ibadan end of Lagos-Ibadan Express Road; Temidire Market, New Ife Road; Scout Camp, Challenge; Samonda, adjacent to Oyo State Trade Fair Complex and Oke-Bola Area. He added that additional stalls would be fixed at Ibadan South West Local Government Area as well as rehabilitation of the popular Adamasingba Shopping Complex. In a related development, the board of Wemabod Estates led by its chairman Dr. Ismael Adewusi promised to provide at least 500 low cost housing units to the people of Oyo state. Gov.Ajimobi lauded the initiative and charged Wemabod Estates to join in the construction of the markets on public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement across the entire state. Ajimobi said the Oyo state government is willing and ready to partner with Wemabod Estates owned by the O’dua conglomerate in the planned construction of new motor parks and development of New GRA at Idi-Ishin area of Ibadan and the restructuring of the existing GRAs to accommodate more houses of different categories. Meanwhile, the Rivers state governor and chairman Governor’s forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, commended the Oyo state governor for bringing further development to the state and changing the face of the state capital, Ibadan to a clean and comfortable place for the people. Governor Amaechi stated this during a courtesy visit to Senator Abiola Ajimobi at the Governor’s office, shortly after commiserating with the families of late Justice Kayode Esho at his Ikolaba, Ibadan residence. The rivers state governor said that contrary to widespread belief that Ibadan was extremely dirty without exception, he was actually impressed with what was on ground in the ancient city in terms of aesthetics and development. He said further that he is hoping that the economy of the state would be repositioned through the transformation agenda of Governor Ajimobi. Speaking on the position of the Governors’ Forum on the on-going constitution review, governor Amaechi said the forum believes that the practice of true federalism is germain to the development and political stability in Nigeria. While reacting to the issue of the creation of state police, governor Amaechi said discussion is on-going with other members on the necessity of state police in reducing the rate of crimes in Nigeria, stating that the impression given by a section of the media that there was disagreement among the governors was not a true representation of the meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday. Reacting, Governor Ajimobi described Amaechi as a man with special ability to manage human beings, as attested to in his handling of the governors in Nigeria, stating that Amaechi had encouraged public office holders to be honest and courageous, even as politicians. While commending Amaechi for the development he had brought to Rivers State, Ajimobi expressed the willingness to take a cue from the developmental programmes of Rivers, stating that he was willing to benchmark on the best practises that had made Rivers state a model state in infrastructural development. http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/11/30/ajimobi-assures-displaced-traders-of-allocation-as-gov-amaechi-commends-oyo-development/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
Why am I not surprised? |
If he ever wins, my vote won't count for him and from the look of things, I doubt if he would |
funkygirl: I think i saw dis guy on monday at ozumba mbadiwe. We were waiting 4 d traffic lite at a junction. The guy was stark naked. I think he just went mad. He was clean shaved and looked okay. I think you guys need 2 look @ VI ooo. All d bestAre you for real? But it's amazing how you see so many people with obvious mental issues roaming the streets and the relevant government agencies don't even bother |
If OBJ actually said that, there should be no reason to doubt him. Just hang on, it's barely 3yrs to tell |
My guess is that most of Nigeria's military formations are in the north. Locals get to see them and are inspired by them. The National War College, the Nigerian Military School, The Air force Military School, The Nigerian Defense Academy etc. The northerners dominate the army and air force but you can't say the same for the Navy which has most of its formations down south. |
Great recycling initiative if they can really pull this off As usual the SW blazes the trail. Yorubaland O Ni baje |
Did these doctors sign the Hippocratic Oath? They should have their licenses withdrawn.. That's if they aren't quacks in the first place |
Impressive. Very soon we would stop importing floor and wall tiles as well as sinks and bathtubs. Not forgetting plates from China |
Well it's affected cabs and buses ...for the better and maybe cobblers too as people walk longer distances and fix their shoes more often. People will drink more water which means better business for bottled water producers Robberies on bikes have reduced All the same, Lagos is a lot better and driving is more peaceful without them On the downside, obviously the Okada guys and their mechanics have been affected Also Okada sales will drop meaning Okada merchants will be looking for other businesses Doctors will have less accident victims to attend to (not quite sure where this falls) |
One_Naira: Dude look for those in your childish level. There isn't any ounce of anything to research in your post hence the term "stupid and ignorant". You're boring, predictable even, and I don't know about anyone else but I'm tired of that bs. If it was months ago, I probably would have engaged you but I'm tried and bored of it so I am asking nicely "don't ever address me again".And you responded to me after all that ranting!? You're the king of eediots! Besides I told you what I know and you don't argue when you don't have an idea. Besides it seems you're too retarded to understand my post that has degenerated into your display of stupidity. Sir Louis Ojukwu had several houses in Ikoyi and no one is disputing that but make no mistake about it |
ROSSIKE: Dunce. Show us mathematically HOW infant mortality rate of 75 per 1000 leads to life expectancy of 52?I've modified my post. You must have dropped out of school. In a country of 1,000 people, if 600 die at 100yrs and 400 die at 0yrs. What's the life expectancy? I will consider you worthy of an intelligent argument if you can answer that. |
ROSSIKE: WHAT IS THE RATE of infant mortality? Do you know? (answer: of course not)Can you confirm the figure? How stupid Maybe I should break it down for you: 75 out of 1000 children that are born never survive (Age=0yrs, which forces down the average life expectancy) 0.3m children die of malaria each year (now this excludes all other diseases) When you factor these, child mortality is high forcing down the average life expectancy. My grandparents all lived to be over 80yrs but this doesn't mean there arent a lot more people who never got a chance to see their grand kids, never got to see their kids, never got to start school, never got to suckle their moms. Our healthcare is poor and people die for the smallest of reasons |
ROSSIKE: WHAT IS THE RATE of infant mortality? DUNCE!!You're an eediot. I had even modified my post before I saw this. You could have searched online before making a fool of yourself. Oloriburuku I see you've been stupidly attacking the issue and wasting bandwidth and brain cells which you have in limited quantity, when you could have googled it. Well my folks are doctors, so I know but I just had to do out this this link to help your low intelligence http://www.indexmundi.com/nigeria/infant_mortality_rate.html |
Well when you factor the rate of infant mortality of about 75 out of 1,000 live births, plus extra judicial killings, I guess 52yrs is even 'generous' |
One_Naira: Dude don't ever address me again cause all your post are usually stupid or ignorant. I don't waste my time on that type of bs, probably would have done it months ago but now i'm tried of it so find those in your childish level. Don't address me again.Ode! So you're the mature one but without any trace of intelligence. You may wanna do a research on my post and get back to me. Brainless fish |
Is this man the best that the Igbos and Niger Deltans can present to the whole of Nigeria? What a shame |
One_Naira: It is his father's property is it not? It is not his to give away.So who did his father will them to abi Oju Iku was survived by his father Ni? Houses that are now inhabited by Yoruba families and businesses. Dey there dey dream |
Aadibros: It's evident daat u r a poverty stricken wretched bastard. What did Oju Iku achieve sir? The 3 million lives wasted was an achievement as far as you're concerned right? |
How come nothing went to MASSOB? Awolowo was by far a decent man than this coward that signed his Will on the laps of pleasure He even ignored one if his children, Slyvester, in the Will And I'm surprised that with all the noise ... this was all he had. Feel sorry for Emeka Ojukuw Jnr but he should have known the kind of father he had and where's the 30% of Ikoyi some Biafrans who claim to own 99.9% of Lagos, have always made us believe he had |
