PoliticsRe: All Federal Roads In The South-East Are Dilapidated by geez1: 6:49pm On Dec 15, 2012
Any governor that is serious about developing his state will fix an economically important federal road and make claims from the FG later. Lagos has done this severally.

Cross rivers was a Federal capital just in case you didn't know and Abuja has been the capital for over twenty years now and it's economy is no where near Lagos'. So tell me more about federal capitals and development

IYA NGBALI: If you are living in Ibadan, eating our food, drinking our water, breathing our air, walking on our soil and you come here to abuse us and the town, may you not take home anything you make in Ibadan.
Amen and same for those Biafrans who live in Lagos and abuse the state

Biafra rep: 3 million people indeed, when you remove the 2.9 million slum dwellers, with very little purchasing power, actually around 50 cents a day, then you know that you have no market at all, except the investor wants to produce ewedu and gbegiri.
Well Oyo state's GDP is higher than the GDP of any state in the SE. Doesn't this tell you that the state produces a lot more more than any SE state?
PoliticsRe: The "DAWN" Of A New Horizon For Yorubaland by geez1: 1:23pm On Dec 15, 2012
@papaBrownie

Well if Lagos isn't part of the SW, then Onitsha also isn't part of the SE, neither is Rivers part of the SS.

The SW was the most progressive region before we were all bunched under a federating unit and this is what we have chosen to re-establish. The Western region was a minimum of 50yrs ahead of other regions and if we had continued at that pace, SA would currently be Africa's number two

I know a lot of people will be pained by this move but no force in the world can stop an idea whose time has come.

perhaps you should get some rest.
Spending your entire day on the internet can be exhausting, even without employment.
So how do I pay for my subscription and that of my staff and family without a job? I can even spare some for your village and entire family you know. Obviously you don't understand what integration is all about in this day and age when counties in the west are economically integrating and harnessing each others' potential for their overall good. If it doesn't make sense to you why I should be able to set up a factory in Ekiti and transport my produce to Lagos and export via fast moving rails or build a cattle ranch and milk processing plant in Osun State to serve milk factories in Ibadan, then your knowledge of economics is as poor as it can possibly be.

bigass: I don't care whether the post is true or not but I support this. Let anarchy reign. Then fashola will know people are not smiling. How can you ban okada in a place like Lagos. They pride themselves as having a population of 18million
But not ready to provide infrastructure to support the huge population.
Which cage did this one break free from? I know you don't own a car but for every windshield that is broken by an Okada rider in Lagos , I pray someone will smash a Hennessy bottle on your head. Olori buruku

PoliticsRe: Ibadan: One Of Five African Cities To Watch - Financial Times by geez1: 6:55am On Dec 15, 2012
There's no doubt about Ibadan's potentials. Any student of elementary economics can tell that the proximity of Ogun, Oyo and Osun to Lagos makes these states potential economic powerhouses and investment destinations as the following factors are present:

1. Proximity to the sea port
2. Proximity to the MMIA
3. Lower cost of living and invariably labour costs
4. Ease of land acquisition
5. Investment friendly leadership
6. Motorable road networks across the region
7. Relative security

With an effective rail connection between these states and Lagos, you can only imagine what the future holds
PoliticsRe: Africa's New Biggest City Is Lagos - & Economy To Outweigh Johannesburg By 2015 by geez1: 6:39am On Dec 15, 2012
God bless the SW

Its about to get even better as we plan a mega city and integration across all SW states. The region will be better for it and though there's still a lot more to be done, it is evident that an institution or government will move in the direction of the type of leadership it has

PoliticsRe: Pictures of demolition of buildings at Sagamu due to road construction by geez1: 6:31am On Dec 15, 2012
Well there's no gain without pain. I believe the state government will pay compensation to those with appropriate documentation but the overall benefit cannot be overemphasized as wider and better roads will ultimately lead to development of those areas and even other sectors of the economy including manufacturing, agriculture and commerce as people will be able to move goods easily from one part of the state to the other. However, I think there should be a maintenance plan. I always argue that if for instance the LASG through an agency like LASAA committed part of the revenue it earns from outdoor advertising to maintaining the roads through a world-class construction company like Julius Berger, which will be paid monthly maintenance costs and guided by an SLA on repairs of any kind of damage, then Lagos' roads will be smooth all year round. Ogun state can adopt that model

So now that we don't have the oil to grease our economic engine, can we practice true fiscal federalism or go our separate ways like most Biafrans have been advocating
