na wa o. i guess men of G |
Hi everyone. A friend of mine just self published her first book. I have seen the stress she has been through so far and how little she gets for her effort and it got me thinking. Wouldn't it had made sense if she had given it to a publisher to do the work for her? Is self publishing really lucrative for writers in nigeria? What are its disadvantages and limitation? Can one man handle the technicalities of getting a book to limelight like a publishing company would? Opinions, anyone? |
Dstar4u: Gud day well wishers, i am an undergraduate of engineering but every day by day the zeal of writing shows cos i love to become a writer but i found it so difficult to put something down due to lack of literature knowledge. Pls, help me out, don't let talent waste. TanxWriting is a gift. If not explored,it becomes stale. Pick up ur pen and paper and write. That's all it takes. Gradually, the stories comes alive. The more u write, the better u get. You could also join writing sites where u can get tutorials on creative writing and how to be a better writer. Go to google and u will find so many to choose from. Keep a pen and notebook handy to jot thoughts and stories that build up within ur mind. The pen and notebook are ur tool of trade. Its what a camera is to a photographer and a stethscope is to a doctor. They go everywhere with u. Those thoughts u have cud be the beginning of a best slling novel, who knows? Why not write them down so u never forget. Lastly, u can never be a published writer if u do not believe in urself. If u lack confidence in ur abilities then u have a major problem.Have critics who judge what u write and help u get better. This forum has slots for people who want others to read what they have and tell them where they need to do better. U can have friends and family who can read and give u opinions too. I hope u make the most of ur writing abilities. Have a great day. |
How do we know that these girls are really MAULAGITES? How did u get the pictures?Where is ur source? |
I read a lot of post on marriage in NL and I find one vital ingredient missing when relationship and marriage are talked about and that is love. Love is the essential ingredient that binds a man and woman together forever despite their shortcoming and flaws, their status financially and otherwise and their colour and language. Love break barriers. It makes you believe in ur spouse and help him or her overcome whatever imperfections they might have. Many men get married because it is something they must do. They are probably tired of sleeping alone or coming home to a empty house with no food laid on the table ready to eat and no one to laugh with. They scroll through their list of girlfriends and make their choice based on how well she cooks ,cleans ,fvck or perhaps because she has a killer body and pretty face. Then they marry and find out that courtship is different from marriage. Her flaws begins to show. Perhaps She doesn't put the top back after using the toothpaste or maybe she is not a great organiser or she doesn't love socialising. She might even be a nag or a gossip or the kind of woman who gets fat when the babies begin to cum in or her womanliness might not be so firm when the babies arrive and marriage becomes a bore. Instead of helping their spouses become better, they cheat on them and try to justify their actions laying the blame on the woman. If there is love in any marriage,it will stand the test of time. Every marriage is made up of two incomplete people coming together to become one. They have to learn to treat one another as they would want to be treated and to respect each other. They give to each other. Love will make them face any storm and come out victorious. No marriage is perfect but any marriage will work if it is built on love and on God. |

@PHBoy. I hv read ur comments and I am trying to understand why u put up with her for five years when its obvious she doesn't have a single good trait that is pleasing to u. The part that just annoys me is the way to speak of her. It puts her down. She has flaws. Who doesn't? I am a great cook but I hate to wash clothes. That's why we are human. We can't all be perfect. I guess even if this girl could cook a storm, u wouldn't appreciate it because its obvious u dnt seem to see anything good in her. Its best to let her go since she isn't ur type. Find ur type of girl who will cook ur traditional meals to ur taste, clean ur house till it u can see ur face on the floor, show u superior bedmatics that will blow ur mind and has all the traits u want in a woman. Maybe this new girl will also put up with ur verbal abuses and insults. |

Some mothers do have them. Lol. |
davidylan: Unless she hid it very well, if the pregnancy is still within a few weeks or at most 2 months, it can still be removed without hurting the mother.u would encourage ur child to abort. That makes sense, right? It also gives her an option the next time she gets pregnant which she will even before the pains of the first abortion subsides. She will abort more babies and u will never know about them. Whether ur daughter is 12 or 20,as long as she can get pregnant, she can give birth to it. All she needs is the best medical care and ur support while she is pregnant. |
A lot of teenagers in nigeria are sexually active before the age of eighteen. The percentage of teenage moms have risen greatly. These girls do not even feel ashamed anymore. They are proud and even go on to give birth to more children before they are twenty five. My neighbour's daughter is an example. She gave birth at seventeen. By six months, she has started leaving the baby for her mother who is almost 60. The burden of the little boy is on the poor mother. The girl goes off for weeks and months and breezes in pick up a change of clothes. She is not even in school. I know she will soon bring home another baby for the mother to care for. I think the problem begins from the home. When ur daughter gets pregnant and u take total responsibility of the child because its ur grand child then u r leaving room for more accidental pregnancies. She has to know that since she is old enough to get pregnant, she has to bear the burden. U will provide shelter and feeding for the child but she will care of her baby until the child is old enough to be weaned and go to school. That will teach her to be responsible for her child and it will make her think twice before she decides to have sex again. After two years of staying home, she can go back to school and get an education while also learning a skill part time so that she can also help support the baby. My friend's brother is a father of four at only twenty two. He got four different girls pregnant. At first his parents were providing for all the children then the fourth girl showed up. His parents got angry and left him to cater for the babes and their children. That woke him up. He got a job and today he has gone back to school. if u encourage ur child to abort, it won't teach her the lessons she has to learn from that situation. It will also give her a way out next time and of course, u will never find out about it. Show her some tough love by letting her bear the baby and the burden it will bring with it. She will learn faster than u think. |

Pls,girlfriend, WALK AWAY FAST. It is clear that this guy is controlling and will beat you to a pulp if u stick with him. I just don't understand why women would hold on to a relationship taking all kind of nonesense all in the name of Love. My friend has been going through hell in the hands of her so called pastor husband. For ten years, he has beaten her like u would beat a dirty rug. He locks her out of the house and she has spent nights on her balcony. He even makes her write apology letters for documentation. They dated three years before the wedding. He was hostile. He even slapped her a month to the wedding but she went ahead. It is better to stay single than be married and unhappy. A broken relationship is better than spending ur life as a miserable married person. Pls, save yourself while you still can. Na my 1k be that o. |

queensmith: Erm, how does she represent every woman in Nigeria considering they were bastardly rich??I believe its more polite to SHUT UP If u don't have a REASONABLE contribution to make to a thread. Mrs Kuti wasn't only the first woman drive a car and a bike, she also has a lot of other achievements to her name. These u can read about if u take the time. At a time when women were not heard but seen, she put her feet down and got women to protest for their rights. She wasn't a pushover and she spread the word so all women born and unborn could also be considered important by the government. Next time u want to diss a woman like Mrs Kuti, read well and long before u do so. Its so sad to note that u r even female. Mtcheeeeeeeeew |
I wonder how people reason its clearly on record that Mrs Funmi Kuti was the first to drive a car and some mungus asks if that is true. If there are any other records that shows that this is not true then pls show us so we can learn from u,OP. If u no get anything to show then just find food chop. E be like say u dey hungry. |
Its ironic indeed to know that students from this same university protested enmass when June 12 results was annuled. A lot of them faced the bullets of the millitary and tear gas. If they could fight for Abiola, why protest because their university was named after them? Should Jonathan put their need for swag into consideration before he honours MKO? If Abiola family had donated a billion naira to maulag, wouldn't they have accepted it? Would they have refused it because the name MKO doesn't sound swaggalicious enough? I don't just get it. |
i cud understand if u say: skinny jean isnt meant to make pple look skinny, its meant for skinny pple..no b by force to start thread na
