rvp20182: My instinct is to distrust any data from Nigeria unless cross-referenced outside Nigeria. Show me who import those aircraft vessels
So I gave you trading economics and any data you speak of on exports, what else do you need? Nigeria has ship and Gunboat building firms in Lagos and we exported 1.4 Billion dollars Ships and Boats fully manufactured. As for Aircrafts, Nigeria does not fully manufacture Aircrafts yet. The first aircraft manufacturing base would be in Osun State as I wrote already in my previous post. However, they export some second hand aircraft vessels and parts to neighbouring African countries especially Ghana now worth close to 143 million dollars.
Fourpockets: I know about innoson and proforce military vehicles, but I don't know anything about aircrafts can you give me companies that manufacture tgem
Fourpockets: I know about innoson and proforce military vehicles, but I don't know anything about aircrafts can you give me companies that manufacture tgem
Nigerian Navy makes a lot of things especially in this Buhari's Government.
Fourpockets: When it comes to IT sourcing, Nigeria is tops in Africa.
There is nothing they do, Nigeria does not do. I wonder where this belief comes from, that Kenya's economy is based on manufacturing than other economies moreso Nigeria simply because the world knows us for crude oil.
As you see, Kenya's top export is Horticulture at 1.4 Billion dollars while Nigerian exports from Ships and Boats equal their top export. This means, even if there was no export of crude oil and gas, Nigerian exports alone from Aircraft vessel parts, Ships, Boats, alone at 1.53 Billion dollars exceeds Kenyan export of flowers at 1.4 Billion dollars (their top export).
Fourpockets: I'm curious, when did we start manufacturing special purpose ships, and Aircrafts?? For exports
We started a long time ago. By the time we also start exporting electric buses and vehicles to African countries nearby, or we start exporting other manufactured equipments from Proforce, Nord, Innoson, and the likes, many would also ask: "When did we start manufacturing these things"?
rvp20182: Only a demented fool would believe such data. Nigeria export aircrafts Facts is Nigeria economy been sick Now even with peak oil prices - it even sicker. Kenya economy is firing on all cylinders. And we are just starting.
Nigeria has Boat and Ship building manufacturing bases. Nigeria does not have a full Aircraft manufacturing base yet but works are about to begin in Osun state Nigeria. However, Nigeria have been exporting Aircraft vessels and parts from way back even before 2015. It's only growing at the moment and hence became one of the top exports.
Nigeria Exports: Vehicles, Aircraft and Parts Thereof, Vessels data was reported at 82,360.760 NGN mn in 2017. This records an increase from the previous number of 87.250 NGN mn for 2016. Nigeria Exports: Vehicles, Aircraft and Parts Thereof, Vessels data is updated yearly, averaging 85,357.900 NGN mn from Dec 2003 to 2017, with 15 observations. The data reached an all-time high of 681,574.848 NGN mn in 2015 and a record low of 87.250 NGN mn in 2016. Nigeria Exports: Vehicles, Aircraft and Parts Thereof, Vessels data remains active status in CEIC and is reported by National Bureau of Statistics of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The data is categorized under Global Database’s Nigeria – Table NG.JA007: Exports: by Commodity.
rvp20182: And you believe Nigeria export spaceships, aircrafts and ships to Spain. Some of that data is crazy. Nigeria made aircraft - what it's the name INNOSON.
I don't have to believe it, I amongst others reported the news when it was happening. There are boat manufacturing firms in Lagos and they are in the process of making electric boats at the moment. They invited already the electric bus manufacturer in Borno State to Lagos to collaborate for electric boats. Also why should anyone believe you and discard trading economics and all top data sources that reports thesame thing about Nigerian exports?
rvp20182: I have my doubt of scrapped vessels and special purpose ships data - otherwise it clear Nigeria main exports are natural resources - that have least multiplier - and ability to lift people out of poverty.
Kenya is doing well in horticulture - with multiplier as good as manufacturing - IT enabled services (outsourcing), tourism - that have huge potentially to transform the economy. This should be the focus - the high value agriculture (avacados earn Mexico 12billion dollars), IT-enabled outsourcing system- exports as good as selling machine abroad- (digital economy with investment in fiber all over the country) - tourism - high value services - as traditional manufacturing is a mountain to climb for now
That is why Kenya has been pulling economic growth almost non stop for 20yrs - while Nigeria is struggling - 10yrs of recession and now even with Oil at it peak - it appears the anemic growth rate will continue.
When this kenya v Nigeria started - somewhere in 2014/2015 - Kenya economy was barely 40B - Nigeria was 500B. Now Kenya economy has climbed - this year could be 120B - Nigeria economy osciallate btw 400-500B for a decade - and if they devalue the Naira - it will drop to even 200B.
Nigeria economy need serious re-configuration - that ought to start with fixing education sector - otherwise I dont see much hope - with pre-mature urbanization (at 50 percent) - endemic poverty in slumpolis - and total collapse of basic infrastructure (electricity is now a miracle)
In the meantime kenya economy is transforming - and in a decade - will have caught up with Nigeria and South Africa - who are mark timming btw 350-500B - depending on USD. Both have had a lost decade.
You are just blabbing. I gave you facts. Our exports from ships, boats, scrap vessels and Aircrafts are more than your top export Horticulture.
gallivant: Do you think a country can industrialize without power? Try crawling before walking.
Top ten exports of Nigeria 2021
1)Mineral fuels including oil: US$42.4 billion (89.1% of total exports) 2)Ships, boats: $1.4 billion (3%) 3)Fertilizers: $949.8 million (2%) 4)Cocoa: $628.8 million (1.3%) 5)Oil seeds: $326.2 million (0.7%) 6)Zinc: $258.8 million (0.5%) 7)Aluminum: $190.3 million (0.4%) 8 Aircraft, spacecraft: $143.7 million (0.3%) 9)Tobacco, manufactured substitutes: $112.8 million (0.2%) 10)Lead: $94.1 million (0.2%)
You can see Ships, Boats, Aircrafts, Spacecrafts, all together at a value more than your top export Horticulture which is 1.4 Billion dollars.

rvp20182: You hate Kenya and Rwanda - two progressive nations - without any minerals - because they remind you of what Nigeria could be - if they got their shiet together.
Namibia and Botswana are swimming in minerals. Kagame has single-handly turned around Rwanda.
These are Kenyan top exports in 2021. Horticulture and tea are Kenya's leading exporting items. In 2021, the country earned over 165 billion Kenyan shillings (KSh), approximately 1.4 billion U.S. dollars, with horticultural products exports. Tea exports generated nearly 131 billion KSh (1.1 billion U.S. dollars). Coffee as well as apparel and clothing also ranked as Kenya's main exports.
These were Nigerian main exports 2021
The top exports of Nigeria are Crude Petroleum ($30B), Petroleum Gas ($5.89B), Scrap Vessels ($1.29B), Special Purpose Ships ($775M), and Refined Petroleum ($613M), exporting mostly to India ($6.27B), Spain ($4.8B), China ($2.54B), Netherlands ($2.24B), and South Africa ($2.17B).
In 2020, Nigeria was the world's biggest exporter of Scrap Vessels ($1.29B)
So among our top exports in 2021 were Scrap Vessels and Special Purpose Ships. Kenya exports more crude/raw products than Nigeria, and you think you are more industrialized or progressive than Nigeria?
TruthIsBitter02: Most Nigerians are so unpatriotic I swear. How can somebody in his right senses be campaigning for this man to rule over him and decide the destiny of him and that of his entire generation. Does it mean that they have sworn never to see Nigeria work in their life time. Countries we had independence almost the same time have all left us. And we are here recycling finished products. Pele was the best in football in his prime but if you put him in the pitch now at his age, I doubt if he can make any impact. There is time for everything...
So who is the better candidate you have for us? Out of the four so called popular candidate, only Tinubu and Kwankwanso seem competent to me, else we start looking at the other parties.
rvp2018: I just checked the price of 50kg bag of rice in Nigeria. Horrendous. Crime against Humanity
The average price of a 50kg bag of local rice in Nigeria is ₦27,000. Rice Brand Size (bag) Price Anambra Rice 50kg ₦22,000 – ₦25,000 Lake rice 50kg ₦26,000 Mama Gold 50kg ₦27,000 – ₦28,000 Par- Excellence long grain rice 43.3kg ₦41,000 – ₦45,000
Well the largest rice farm in Nigeria, Olam farm and many other farmlands were completed flooded. 25 million dollars gone. So the price stock I guess is bound to increase this time. Really tough one for now. But then it's also very expensive in Kenya.
obaaderemi: Kaduna is on steroids. I just wish Kaduna can lead the way in the North in terms of children's education. The north needs education.
El Rufai is a great administrator. He was a great administrator in leading Abuja to what it is today and he is doing even more in Kaduna. The reason there are more out of school children in the north is that majority of the children are employed as farmers. A man with 20 children would have almost all of them working on farmlands to make money rather than enroll them in schools.
Shma2022: Kenya is $113.9B < Angola $114.2B Just like Nigeria, without oil Angola is dead.
Angola much more than Nigeria. The evidence is that before 2015, Angola was booming like Nigeria. The 2015 oil price reduction swooped Angolan and Libyan economy more devastatingly than Nigeria. Nigeria went into a recession but recovered more quickly than Angola. Same thing in 2020.
vannessa7: And they expect us to hand over the nation to this incompetent failure, imagine, this is wickedness because an average igbo man know this man did not perform well as a governor yet they keep pushing him as if Nigeria has been jinxed never to develop. They hate Tinubu with a passion even though he has the potential to develop this country and put an end to the "japa" syndrome because many nigerians will benefit from his leadership skills. Shaking my head(smh)
obaaderemi: Something similar was launched by the federal government of Nigeria this year. You can charge your Tesla in Nigeria. Unilag has one such station.
samorobo: Congrat Lagos. This is to be located in the same axis with dangote refinery, lekki free trade zone(SEZ),Alaro city, dangote fertilizer plant, lekki deep seaport, isimi Lagos.
Now clones your eyes abd imagine the kind or organic unprecedented economic hub that is about to germinate from that axis. That would be the biggest economic hub in Africa.
Fourpockets: I disagree with you on this, take China for example, their communist party is the only party, they are also a suppressive regime but their country is far more developed than a democratic country like say Canada. A suppressive regime isn't bad if the government knows what they're doing
China is not far more developed than Canada. Far bigger economy and far more industrialized? Yes.
rvp2018: They were short of 1B dollars after selling 20% stake to NNPC for 2.5B dollars. They split into two bonds. One has been issued and was oversubscribed locally - I believe they raised maybe 500M dollars. They will probably float the other soon as 1st was oversubscried. It will get done early or late next year as there is goodwill from gov and private sector - and they have A++ credit rating - with Dangote willing to put his cements and other plants as collateral.
The project overrun is crazy. I dont know if it's Indians? but from 12 to 19B - dollars that is huge. And that is what Nigeria consumers will have to pay back - 20B dollars.
The cost is high due to so many other overhead costs. Although the project was conceived in 2014 and one could estimate it at 9 Billion dollars then (when we include all three sections), work began properly in 2016 and the cost was then estimated at 12 Billion dollars seeing that the topography/landscape was not really favorable and a lot of work had to be done inclusive of large operating power plant that is more than enough to power the entire complex and supply excess to the national grid.
There is also subsea gas pipeline project from the Niger Delta to Lagos. Then there was the need to build a special port for Dangote vessels and construct some roads because that area truly had nothing going for it. Hundreds of housing units in what is more or less like a special housing estate have also been built for workers. Over 12,000 foreign workers have been employed and 28,000 locals as well. Many of these workers have been trained overseas.
The thing with Dangote is that he hardly complains or speak so much. He would rather wait to speak only when he can give or project some positive vibes/assurances about his business.
rvp2018: I will believe when I see it running. I have seen enough of Nigeria to know nothing get done.
It would get done. There was a delay in getting funds from the Nigerian Banks this year, so from around March until August/September, they didn't continue with much large precommisioning and other big construction, only small works. They had to wait to do some round of funding (which involved bonds if I'm not mistaken) in order to continue on some of what they were working on before the halt then due to funds. I do not know how far they have gone from that point since August or when it would come on board, but it would surely come on board soon enough. The fertiliser section is already fully completed and functioning. There is now then the petrochemical section and then the refinery of 650,000 barrels per day.
A4alpha: This people na cruise. As if takeover will translate to wealth.. dem don dey eye this one once dem succeeded oyo go be the plant name. Next pls.
I nor know when our people go get sense. This is where Lagos somehow shines and seem to be a more comfortable environment for investors.
Yet when all industries go to Lagos, they would complain and say it's because of the ports. Lagos seem to be more organized in how they accommodate big industries. Why can't Yahaya Bello present the evidence in court?
