Wow you just wrote like certain groups I know in Naija. So because you lost election, you want to break up the country? Sometimes I wonder if this democracy is really good for us in Africa. |

rvp2018: 1960.. Nigeria GDP per Capita was 93 USD..now it's 2000..about 20 times...but British was 1300...risen to 47,000..so British have gotten 50 times teacher post colonialism.Colonialism was mostly a drain on British people and was unpopular as British taxpayers funded colonies.Lets us not get into lies that British took our money...they mostly brought their money to invest in our infrastructure..we can't finance and build a railway now But British hardly built any infrastructure for us apart from strategic infrastructures they used to siphon resources and this is not a lie. Maybe they did in Kenya but not here. |

Mike008: Lagos is Nigeria's largest city and second in the whole of Africa. Something isn't right. But who dem de owe all these money? The debt is not that huge compared to Lagos present revenues and potential revenues if you ask me. Note that Lagos owns 25% of the Lekki Deep Sea Port already which starts operating in December. |

Peterobi90: Note: this is just domestic debt, external debt is at $1.3bn approx... excluding FAAC allocations and other undisclosed incomes..
Where are the fully funded public infrastructures that we can tally this debt with? Yeah you are right but in total, lagos owes 1.2 trillion naira. Lagos with an IGR of 747 Billion naira in 2021 (even without Federal allocation) is stable in that sense. Because their IGR plus federal allocation in the year should already be close to that 1.2 trillion naira ( which is their total debt). So Lagos paying back that debt is no problem at all. |

rvp20182: British if it had stayed longer might have helped the now hopeless Nigeria. You're still walking the Sahara, swimming the mediterranian, hiking on trucks to get to Britain....60yrs after you became independent. Maybe we need to let British come and fix our countries.
Anyone blaming coloniliasm for their under-development now is a slowpoke. Well the British guys stayed in Nigeria from 1897 to 1960 and they did not build much in Nigeria. They just built rails to siphon resources. Over 90% of what we have today were built by us ( even with the corrupt coons we have had over the years). I don't really think the British would have cared so much about Nigeria or West Africa. |

Anigreat: .

Bro see your Eldorado Lagos here, very sweet, Serene and so develop place made possible by Tinubu.
The day you travel out of this miserable place or to this miserable place, will you know that Lagos is so overrated. Forget the media hype, there's nothing in Lagos. congested, dirty and erosion ravaged state. I agree but one of the greatest if not the greatest ever development in Lagos today is the Lekki free trade zone idea as a source of economic boom/revenue for Nigeria which was conceived in 2006 by Tinubu with the foundation laid by him when he first visited China for work to begin. Work continued with his successors and that dream is becoming a reality and would definitely be a reality in this decade. Another is the idea of the Lagos great wall and Eko Atlantic, as again private investors were invited specifically for the Eko Atlantic project. You may not like Tinubu (and it's not just you) but that's true legacy there. Give the man his flowers. |

Obiano13: State capture commission ß....the opposite happened. Uhuru has been rewarded heftily. Cost of living down in 1st 100 days...the opposite has already happened. Nwo every Kenyan is crying, esp the hustlers,,,fuel prices up, food prices up,,ofcourse as a typical Kipmeno you won't see anything so long as your uncle is in state House warming the seat for kyuks. Subsidy of PMS drains state revenues except the revenues are high else you'll swim in debts and your debt repayments would surpass revenues. I think Ruto did the right thing there. |

Shma2022: Yes, I believe so. Mama kenyatta is alive. That's why her Net wealth is a mere $ billion. In real sense, ngina kenyatta is worth more than $5B. Moi Odinga and Kenyatta are the biggest business family in Kenya. Those guys own several multi-million dollar firms. Their wealth has been downplayed for political reasons, I agree. Uhuru Kenyatta for instance, owns land worth $3B, he is building a city, he owns real estate in United States, he owns properties in Uk, he has huge investments in Africa. His total wealth will forever remain secret.
$billionairs in Kenya? They are so many. Majority due to shoddy business( drugs and corruption) --- their wealth will never be documented. We are saying thesame thing. Hence we agree it's not reasonable for Forbes or our own rating agencies to classify them. |

Shma2022: Look, mama kenyatta alone Is a dollar billionaire. manu chandaria is a dollar billionaire Moi was the richest by far, but I doubt if they can stand Kenyatta(maybe Rvp2018 can clarify that) Biwort was a dollar billionaire. If Mama Kenyatta is alive, as long as she bears the name Kenyatta, her wealth would be downplayed. Trust me, there are people like that in some countries in Africa who have been dollar billionaires but because they are also linked to politics, their entire source of wealth has been questioned and their wealth downplayed. Do you think Dangote is the richest man in Nigeria for instance? Abacha's wife some years ago called Dangote a poor man where her family is. The late Abiola in Nigeria even before politics was a dollar billionaire. Tinubu in Nigeria for instance is regarded as a very wealthy man ( in billions of dollars). Atiku is also regarded thesame way (though to a lesser extent). Peter Obi, Danjuma and a host of others in Nigeria have many businesses that makes them high net dollar millionaire. These guys are not seen in Nigeria as the rich because they have also been involved in politics and control of public funds besides their wealth. Kenyatta and moi family control Kenyan politics, hence if we include them, we have to include the families of the Abiolas in Nigeria, the Abachas, Danjumas, Atikus, Tinubus, and the list goes on and on. |

The problem of Africa is,we don't have a well researched informations. We rely too much on guess works and a half baked reports.
