Having heard you. Now, why didn't they attach the alpha-numerical digits since you said they wanted to differentiate applicants?

Well, I guess that's the reason we were asked to reprint again to attach those codes on our applications. That'll sort everything out. I.e two applicants can have the same number, but no too applicants can have the same attached codes.
I guess they realised the site was malfunctioning with issuing of number, so they resorted to that option.
