Erm . . . is there any way we could take this thread to the topic 'proverbs' ? One for you: The head that moves the bee hive should be ready to experience its sting. |
The one that gathers firewoods infested with ants issues an invitation to the lizard to visit. |
Hotstepper:Hmm. . . I must warn you. . . it was the last word that did the trick. . . ![]() LGA first letter - O Last letter - A Town first letter - U Last letter - E Good luck! ![]() |
When the proverb of the tattered basket is spoken, the emaciated person understands it. |
wormedup:Yes, but I gave three, so you 'owe' me While you're about it. . . The son that carries his father above his head in a brawl will find himself blinded by his loin cloth. . . . 'loin cloth' is not in the original proverb, though. . . |
mukina2:We're only talking proverbs, cutiepie. . . |
@ Wormedup: When you see the tortoise dancing on the road, do not be quick to call him crazy - there is a drummer in the bush playing the music to which he dances. The medicine man that cures diarrhoea; does he store his own buttocks in the ceiling? lol ![]() |
wormedup:There is nothing that the eye sees that will make it cry blood. |
Hotstepper:Never mind about the traditional marriage talk. . . I was only making an observation, and also responding to idollier's comments. Nothing serious. Seriously though, nice photograph you have there! You look like you possess strength of character. . .definitely a plus for you. |

ldollier:Not like that for my town, though. Maximum bride price = N5,000. Anything higher than that attracts a fine from the the town union. Not joking. |
ldollier:Sorry. The point is, it is rumoured that the requirements for a traditional marriage ceremony for an Nnewi damsel could be. . . well. . . a bit on the high side. @ Hotstepper Hmmm. . . suffice it to say that our genealogical origins are not far removed from each other. I represent a town about 30Km south of Nnewi. ![]() |
eveseh:Who you callin' chicken? ![]() (under the breath). . . and to think I was beginning to fancy you. . . ![]() |
mukina2:heaves a sigh of relief ![]() |

Please, princess. . . your tears overwhelm me. . . What can I do to make it up to you? ![]() |
mukina2: ![]() you sure do have a sense of humour, baby! But I was there, pretty flower. Did you not see me? |
@ Mukina: What, what? Why do you cry? ![]() |
wormedup:Indeed. A child that is sent to steal by his father will kick open the door with his feet. Keep them coming, man. I'm just loving this!! ![]() |
ldollier:Did I hear someone say. . . The fear of Nnewi. . . is the beginning of. . . what? ![]() |
mamaput:Hmmm. . . Apparently experience helps you think more with your head. . . and less with your heart (and other parts of the anatomy). |
@Rhodalyn If you mean what you just wrote, you must be a remarkable person. How did she get the disease? And did she know about it but conceal such information from me? I realize that there are other ways of contracting HIV/AIDS other than sexual intercourse. . . But if, inspite of the fact that I have excercised great personal discipline - being a proponent of 'no sex before marriage' myself. . . she contracted this infection by . . . well. . . I'd call it off. @ Mamaput - there are ways to prevent Parent-to-child transmission. |
Call it off. |
Hotstepper:And, yes, about the town you come from. . . would that be somewhere in Nnewi , by any chance? Hmmm. . . major investment indeed. . . scary. . .I'm sure it can be sorted out. . . Am I rambling? ![]() |
ldollier:I didn't profess love, my dear Idollier. . . that would be unwise and, to some extent, untrue at this point. I only indicated my interest in the prize, and why not? From all appearances the prize is worth it! Of course I will have to demand a closer inspection and receipt of payment! |
Hotstepper:hmmm. . . tough question. . . What is worthy of a man's labour? That which has value. . . is pristine. . . holds great promise. . . What more shall I say? Not 14 years' labour please! ![]() |
erm. . . May I, dear Hotstepper. . . ? (Join the chase, I mean) You are a prize worthy of a man's labour. . . ! ![]() ![]() |
Literary metamorphosis would perhaps be the expression you need! |
Good, my flower. . . Now shall I go and get ready? I will be sure to inform the Chef of your favourite table. . . the place at the window that oversees the Uranus heights. . . There will be candle lights. . . a pipe band. . . and the famous Mars anthill perfume displays will be for your pleasure. . . Now shall I go and make ready, my Duchess? |
Oh, goody. I left before you came in. . . Cheers bro! |
