*Streeeetttttttcheeeessssssssssss* Hello everyone! ![]() |
Is this supposed to task my brain or what? I will ask YOU a question. How come they both did not die of hypothermia if they were indeed on top of a tall skyscraper? |
mukina2:There you go again. You must know what you are doing when you frown all the time. Oh, what irrepressible comeliness! |
mukina2:Has anyone told you how pretty you look when you frown? @ OmoOh, really? |
Omo Eko:I suspect so. You mean the person to whom the love song is addressed, right? ![]() danniecool:What makes you so sure of that? |
salsera:Six. Gen 25:1,2 |
ghengis: kiki:Very possible. Easily explained by adoption. She never got married and adopted all her children. |
sketch18:Use Water or any liquid denser than the ball. > 2.) The Man in the ElevatorDwarf. Hand can only reach button for 7th floor without assistance. Uses umbrella to press button on rainy days. |
grrr! |
MAMAJAMA:Smart indeed. You are not so much solving a mathematical problem as you are doing abracadabra "the more they look, the less they see"! I am in a bubble-bursting mood today, sorry. Your trick is nothing more than the TENS, HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS rule taught in arithmetics. Put it this way. . . if I add a few zeros to the back of any number and add another to it, the result would be the same as lining up all the digits composing the two numbers linearly, provided I add enough zeros. For example, if I make 1 => 10000 and add two thousand, three hundred and forty-five to it, I get. . . you guessed right, 12345! What genius! How do I make 1 = 10000? Multiply it by 10,000. To make 1 => 10000, 1 x 10,000 = 10000. Supposing that, instead of 1, we use a number, say, the first three digits of my phone number (excluding the dialling code), which happen to be 123. 123 x 10000 = 123,0000. Right? Hmmm. . . OK. So I add a four-digit number to it, say, the last four digits of my phone number, which just happen to be 4567. 123,0000 + 4567 = 1234567. Wow! What happens if I do this with 1,000,000 instead of 10,000? You got it right - the same principle holds. I simply need to know how many digits are in your phone number. Unlike the original post, I can modify this to include even your local code. Simply genius, ain't I! Your next question is probably, "how does 10,000 come into this matter"? Hold on a while, and I will show you. Bear with me, while I go a bit technical now. Let us represent the first three digits of my phone number by x, and the last four digits by y (it does not matter what the values are, this just helps us to ignore them). 2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code) = x 3. Multiply by 80 = 80x 4. Add 1 = 80x + 1 5. Multiply by 250 = 250 (80x + 1) 6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number = [250(80x + 1)] + y 7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again = [250(80x + 1)] + y + y = [250(80x + 1)] + 2y. Expanding the brackets, [250(80x + 1)] + 2y = [250(80x) + 250] + 2y = 250(80x) + 250 + 2y 8. Subtract 250 = [250(80x) + 250 + 2y] - 250 = 250(80x) + 2y 9. Divide number by 2 = Divide the terms on both sides of the "+" sign by 2 = 250(80x)/2 + 2y/2; Dividing through by 2, 250(80x)/2 + 2y/2 = 250(40x) + y!!! By now, you probably already see the connection. 250 x 40x + y = 10,000 x the first three digits of my phone number + the last four digits. Therefore, the labyrithine arithmetic was simply to derive the number 10,000. LOL! ![]() Questions, anyone? ![]() |
marlet01:I'm sure you mean Jacob. |
debosky:Hmmm. . . do I sense a reamalgamation of the lost tribes? |
debosky:At least you got to display your (possibly abysmal ) culinary expertise to an (biased but) appreciative audience. |
Most stupid thing: One day, several years ago, she was ill and I prayed very earnestly that her sickness be transferred to me! I don't know if that prayer was answered, but she became better the next day and I fell sick. Most romantic thing: I don't know. I do them every day. ![]() (I strongly recommend that you don't believe the everyday part) |
You don't look 7 years old to me, assuming that's you in the picture. More like 37. ![]() |
Gamine:Hmmm. . . what shall we say then? Shall we continue in weakness that care may abound? ![]() cashflowpc:Incomplete. |
Crazy thread's still running. What's there to smile about, I ask you, yellow face? |
LOL, Ika. My thoughts: Q1. Since it is not said that the man is naked, I am free to assume that he is wearing clothes. If this is so, then woman A is his new wife of less than 24 hours, hence her inability to tell whether or not the man is her husband. Woman B is his ex-wife/girlfriend of several years, who knows the man very well. Woman C is the village masseuse, hence her ability to tell that the man does not live in the village (I can also assume that it is a very small village!) . Q2. In addition to Ika's well thought-out options: 5. Another person stood in front of the man and took his bullets. 6. A big bird flew down just as the men were going to fire the bullets and carried him up, putting him down immediately the shots had been fired so he could walk away by himself. 7. There was an earthquake and all the marksmen fell into a big ditch and fired their bullets upwards, while the man was not affected. 8. All the bullets somehow missed their mark - this is to be expected as there is a degree of probability that each of the fifty men could have missed the target. ![]() |
I came across these puzzles while I was reading (and living!). These are not classical riddles with specific answers, but yield themselves to any number of correct interpretations. I would like to invite anyone with their thinking caps on to attempt them. 1. A man is sunbathing on a beach with a newspaper covering his face. Three women walking by have the following discussion: Woman A: That looks like my husband lying over there. Woman B: That is certainly not your husband. Woman C: That man certainly doesn't live in this village. What do you think is the most likely explanation of what is going on? 2. An individual faces a firing squad, and fifty expert marksmen aim their rifles (at this individual) to carry out the deed. The order is given, the shots ring out, and somehow all the bullets miss and the condemned individual walks away unscathed. How can this remarkable event be explained? Happy thinking! ![]() |
Er. . . who are they? |
@cute_ass "Give to Ceaser what is Ceaser's and to God what is his". Each of them is just as important as the other in my own opinionIf I rightly interpreted your statement, you seem to imply that God is not involved in a "traditional" marriage ceremony. This is not necessarily correct. If you accept that the important element of this process is to "honour your father and mother" - and this is a way of honouring them - then God is certainly involved in the process. Certainly more than in a church wedding that is in dishonour to the parents and in direct violation of God's principles. You are however correct that neither is more important; both stages of wedding are in fulfilment of God's requirement of respect of authority. The important element in both cases is the perceived consent, and hence honour, of the parents and/or guardians (whichever applies wherever). The difference between the two events is the the basis of the covenant between the couple - the church wedding attempts to supply that which is missing (and replace certain unacceptable elements) in the "traditional" event. This directly leads to my answer to the question. @Question If I absolutely had to choose one event, I would do a modified "traditional" wedding with all the important elements of a church wedding, and without any of the unacceptable elements of a "traditional" wedding. |
Razorr:Now I know I actually went to the planet neptune yesterday. And there I was, thinking it was a dream! |
LOL, indeed. It is my opinion that the philosophy represented by Seun's last comment is dangerous to say the least, and irresponsible in certain situations. However, given that the idea of administering smacks is for correction and direction, I suppose that any sensible (note, sensible refers to - legal, acceptable, non-threatening, non-harmful, etc!) method that actually achieves the goal cannot be dismissed as impractical and unacceptable. |

@Davidylan Address his questions if you can, bro. Not a very good idea to refer to issues on another thread here, especially since not everyone will be bothered to read up on them. If you ask me, I do not think he wants any answers to his questions so I will not even bother to try to answer them. |
