When the palm head falls to the ground, a woman will walk on it  grin

There's a history behind it. . . in the days of our forefathers  smiley palm heads were usually harvested by climbing to the top of the tree and cutting them down. Due to the high degree of risk associated with this particular occupation, only 'highly' trained individuals did this job. The palm head harvesters, who often doubled as palm wine tappers, were an exclusive group, even among men.

Hopefully, the proverb now makes sense. . . since the only way for a woman in those days to 'walk' on the palm head would be if it was on the ground!

These days, however. . .  grin
