How come nations with low fertility rates have better economic good luck than those with high fertility rates? How come Northern Nigeria has a high poverty rate even when they LOVE having plenty of children? Your experience is best anecdotal and largely cultural. Verdict: There is no correlation whatsoever between having children and getting good luck. |

If OP is truly a man judging by the "m" besides the moniker as I am confused by the inconsistencies in grammar between "his siblings in reference to your girlfriend's siblings". Anyway, if you are a man, DINK (Dual Income No Kids) is actually a major disadvantage as a man than as a woman. DINK benefits women more than men because they - women - don't get to contribute their basal quota in marriage but retain their hypergamy. Also, you are still very young as a man to have such thoughts. Furthermore, you never know the future and if you really don't want children (your choice), the best contraceptive is undergoing a vasectomy. As a man below 30, that is a BIG decision to undertake.
A desire not to have children as married couples is perfectly okay, but there are very few black people, regardless of location and nationality, who have gone that route. So that should you tell something about how black people view marriage and children. |

Magnoliaa: Have you gone through the threads Kiki made that I tagged you to? I did. I didn't not see anyone who made mention of "home economics" anywhere on this thread. A prominent member did. I don't want to mention monikers as it would be too unnecessary. What Poco was talking about has to do with one of the girl's personal woes. She's lazy, doesn't want to work, fighting with her boyfriend and all that. I see. Well, I did not see that explanation. All I saw was not exactly innocent. But specifically on that GC, it was multiple conversations going on. And the guy who came to post the screenshots was cutting and joining various conversations happening at the group. The guy actually pretended to be a woman, and he was like egging them with suggestive comments, till the point that some of them were sharing their sexual traumas. Another set were talking about cooking, and how stressful it is. And one said her brother is her "lab rat". She uses him to test run her cooking, and feminist ideologies. Interesting turn of events. But with a name like "feminist witches", I shudder at their inner thoughts. |

jedisco: I like the phrase measurable metric in your last paragraph.
That something appears odd to you does not mean its wrong- again you need to look at the system and outcomes. Context is what youre struggling with- e.g there are significant security issues in the UK but complaining about it does not mean they're experiencing anything close to what we see in 9ja. It reminds me on 2 previous discussions I've had on NL- first was someone describing how expensive food is in the U.S cos he converted the price of Coke in usd into naira- I had to go to town to make him see that food is at least 10x more expensive in 9ja. Next was same person mocking the UK cos they were suffering high inflation and people were complaining online. I started by asking him when last inflation in 9ja was as low as 8%.I'm trying not to go down on this but lets see. In your words, tell me one respectable measurable metric where health outcomes in Nigeria superceed the UK (or on a good trajectory to do soon)?
None whatsoever. But I believe the lady in the UK is stunned by the one-time per consultation she received even when she had other medical issues. Also, the scarcity of dentists at a point last year or earlier this year got be befuddled. Your inflationary explanation is excellent. |

Tellmeastory: IS THIS WHY YOU SUPPORT A FAT, RACIST WHITE PIG WHO HATES YOU AND THINKS YOU ARE SUB-HUMAN?
DO YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE AN INFERIOR BEING?
Because here is one thing you apologists for white racists fail to understand.
Tribalism is about competition and rivalry. The other ethnicity does not develop theories suggesting that you are not fully human. Nor do they refuse to touch your hand when handing you back you change at the store. That is what racists do.
A tribalist just dislikes you because he has to share the small national cake with you.
IT'S A HUGE DIFFERENCE. When you finally get a bigger cake, ethnic rivalries would abate.
Racism is not the same. It stays, no matter what. Big fat lie! Racism and tribalism are rooted in discrimination - a typical human phenomenon. To say that there's no difference is being disgustingly dishonest! What's the difference between six and half a dozen?! |

captainbangz: Actually, we started the creation of JAMB profile thing in 2017. So when registering, out of ignorance, thinking "JAMB is just for admission na", I decided to include my middle name, say, Adamu.
I applied for a change even before I was offered admission by both JAMB and my school, but did not get any response from JAMB. Although JAMB asked us to upload our O-level result to help facilitate the admission, I did with mine that has just, say, "TUNDE Chiroma" and was offered admission with TUNDE Chiroma by school and TUNDE Chiroma Adamu by JAMB. I thought that since I have been offered admission, they have settled within themselves.
Now, I learnt I will have to remove Adamu from JAMB to be eligible for youth service. If I can do that, my problem is solved. But since JAMB is saying they don't add or remove names, I can add Adamu to my school and NIN to make me eligible for youth service at the detriment of my WAEC cert., because I can modify all other documents to have three name except WAEC, which will have just first and last name, i.e TUNDE Chiroma.
Although I have applied again for a change about a month ago, accompanied the indemnity form submitted with my NIN having two names and a newspaper publication (not a national paper though, it's a state owned publishing firm) stating that I am changing from TUNDE Chiroma Adamu to TUNDE Chiroma, but I have not gotten any response from JAMB yet. And our results have been approved by the Senate. Our statement of result will be ready in less than two weeks.
I am thinking if using three in all other documents aside WAEC, then swearing an affidavit to maintain ownership of the WAEC will endanger my chances in the future. Or wait for JAMB which I am not sure they'll approve of my request? With this explanation, I will advise you modify every other document to have three names. For WAEC, swear an affidavit, but expect to explain tire during interviews and verification by companies. Still meet a notary for professional advice. |

Whenever I step out of my feminist circles online, to mainstream social media, believe me, I cannot count the number of girls I see thrashtalking feminism, and talking about how feminism has been a big disservice to women, and that it has forced us to be working like men. e invalid. I have condemned killers of women, whether young or elderly, whenever I come across the news. I have condemned killings all around. My post's history says so. But when extremism is applied, I find it scary especially for a country like ours. I have seen the effects elsewhere and they are not palatable. I am not against marriage. I am just interested in the aftermath of the various ideologies which have affected marriage and fertility rates. I want to see how they end. That is it. captainbangz: Hello good people of nairaland. I have an issue that needs urgent attention and will want your advice. It is regarding inconsistency in the names on my documents with the names on my JAMB profile. All my documents including school portal has just two name i.e. without middle name, but JAMB has three. I applied for change of names even before gaining admission into the university, but did not get a response from JAMB as I was supposed to. I applied for another change recently after my final exams (about a month ago) but I am yet to hear from JAMB and our results have been approved by the school's senate. If I don't fix this, there is no way I am going for the mandatory youth service, nor be exempted and you know what that means.
I am thinking that, since WAEC has already been known not to change names and can not affect my going for service, should I change the names in my school to three before our results are ready, then get an affidavit to back my WAEC for future use or wait for JAMB's response which is possibly disapproval because they (JAMB) said they don't add or remove names again?
Or is it possible that having just two names on my WAEC certificate can jeopardize my chances of being employed in the future or maybe securing a scholarship?
@Gerrard59 and other knowledgeable and experienced nairalanders should please help me out. Scholarship cannot be jeopardised because of a name. The koko is ensuring your name in both WAEC and the university's certificate (which would also reflect in your transcript) are the same. Since JAMB is a prerequisite for NYSC, you have to ensure the names are the same. My advice? Meet a notary to explain everything and effect a change of name. Get them published in newspapers (widely read daily). But I am curious, why didn't you use the same in WAEC all through? The change should have been from there, not anywhere after. Best wishes! |

Ms Mag, when would you condemn this as well? But "starving" men of sex is the height of it for you. This is an entirely different issue. Incels in the US are literally mass terrorists and shooters. But oh, I'm sure it's feminism's fault for "de-masculinizing" men. Men's actions and words are always because of the way the society treats them and bla bla bla, but women are personally responsible for what they do and say. Anyone, regardless of gender, who terrorises society should be condemned. That has been my stance ab initio. And oh yes! Extreme feminism leads to a de-masculinization of men. Keep demonising women/feminists. Men should continue spewing hate and begetting a cycle of hatred. You're afterall the leaders we follow. Let everything end up in carnage and people taking one another's eyes. It goes both ways. You cannot demonise one gender constantly and expect love and roses. Men have been demonised for almost a decade. What we see now is a backlash from the same men. We have had men commit suicide because of false accusations, including one in Nigeria. If such can occur in Nigeria, it means the future is scary as these are issues of wealthier societies. I have read the effects of this sickening ideology in South Korea and should the same happen in Nigeria, they would most likely be way worse. My stance is simple: condemn both sides and stop being partial. |

I don't even know where to start but comparing healthcare delivery in the UK to Nigeria is like comparing our power generation to theirs- they're worlds apart. BTW, forget what you read online. You'd see loads of US/Can/UK/Aus citizens complaining about their economy. My brother it's not thesame thing as a Nigerian complaining. Whether it's inflation, food, security e.t.c.. there are levels to these things. I referenced TWO NIGERIAN women who complained about the healthcare systems in the UK and Canada. One lived in Nigeria and the other in South Africa. Should their opinions be disregarded because you don't like them? Were they outrightly dishonest? People have complained bitterly about the scarcity of dentists and I was shocked because I see dentists clinics scattered around here. A doctor limiting a patient to one medical complaint per consultation sounds surreal to me. But people are complaining about this, but their complaints are unwarranted? About the economy, every person out there knows that the US economy out-performs the UK by any measurable metric. Nigerians in the US out-earn every other diasporan, and I wager even more than those in China. |
