thanks you spoke for me.
Ibime:
I dont know how this issue jumped from Danjuma to MEND.

MEND is not Mossad. . . as it is, the boys have overachieved by holding the nation to ransom with just a few speedboats and AK47's. . . they do not have the capability to carry out inland attacks and have never done so. . . .or do you lot think Danjuma is sitting on his front porch waiting to be shot?

Anyway, back to the issue at hand.

This story exposes the wickedness of Obasanjo's 1978 Land Use Act.

Did the community where Danjumas oil block is situated ask to sell the land or give it away free to the Government?

The people's land has been stolen and given to the members of the cabal in the name of "Federal Land".

After now, someone will come and tell us that the land is Federal Land. If the land is Federal Land, it should NOT then be privatised.

Does it sound fair for FG to come and steal your land, sell it the next day, and pocket the change?

Land Use Act indeed!

This is the most detestable form of piracy.

My own question for Danjuma is: How much of the $100m are you giving back to the community you stole the land from?
you are a true son of nigeria. thank you. obasanjo is a very useless fool and criminal

what happpened to this woman then?

Eghe Egbon:
If this allegation Of 36 Billion Naira Fraud against Ifueko Omogui and others is proven to be true, they have to be jailed. Ifueko is my cousine and i have experience of some extent to which the Omogui's can be fraudulent.  I am Eghe Egbon and have lived with Ifueko many years ago. I say to my fellow Nigerians countries like America,  England and other countries we respect and want to migrate to for a better life ''do not have the wealth, natural climate, manpower, skills or even physical cash'' as Nigeria. Their leaders did not bastardise their economy. Though there is credit crunch now, their government is fighting in unity to restore it for the better life of their people, their future and the future of their unborn citizens. Nigerians should stand for their rights, this money been stolen belongs to all of us, and not who is in power. I am not talking only on this case, but for all other theft cases or forms of Governmental misconducts. If America and European countries were like Nigeria, will Nigerians run there? Even our leader will loot and run abroad, when we are resourced and can be better than this abroad. Bear in mind the blacks in America did not have rights they fought for it and took it. So i employ the poor, middle class and even the  rich in Nigerian to also fight, demand for our rights and National treasure in our country. It has to be a National team work.  We must always ask questions, demand answers and check for proof.
nigerians dont fight for anything. we only steal and pray not to be caught

'We deserved our punishment': What three Muslim Malaysian women said after being caned for having intimacy outside marriage

By Mail Foreign Service

Three Muslim women who were the first in Malaysia to be caned for having intimacy outside marraige this morning claimed the punishment was an opportunity for them to repent.

Prison authorities caned the women last week after an Islamic Shariah court issued the penalty.

The caning has outraged rights groups and revived speculation that conservative Islamists, who advocate harsh punishment, are gaining influence in the country.

The three women, aged 17-25, said they turned themselves in after feeling guilty for sleeping with their boyfriends before marriage and getting pregnant.

Malaysian justice: Prison staff demonstrate to the media how the caning process was done at the Kajang prison outside Kuala Lumpur

The 17-year-old told reporters that she surrendered to Islamic authorities after her prematurely born child died.

She is now serving a six-month prison sentence.

'I know I have sinned, and I have to be punished. Strangely however, I felt that the caning was not a form of punishment but was an opportunity for me to repent and return to the right path,' she said.

She has already married her boyfriend, who has also been caned and jailed over the offence.

The other women, who have one young child each, are planning to marry their partners after they are released.

The men were also caned for having intimacy.

One woman, aged 25, said she was scared before the caning but knew she deserved the punishment.

All three women called on others not to make the same mistake and abstain from intimacy before marriage.

Journalists interview three women who were caned for having intimacy out of wedlock, at a prison in Kajang . They are first to be caned under the country's Islamic laws

A Prison Department official confirmed the women's comments, made at a news conference at the women's prison outside Kuala Lumpur to local, government-linked media under the watch of authorities.

He said they were reluctant to speak to other media.

It could not be confirmed whether they were speaking voluntarily.

A request with the department for interviews is pending.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin defended the caning this morning, saying it was 'far lighter' than what some people might imagine.

'The punishment is legitimate and in accordance with the law,' Muhyiddin said.

Human rights groups have slammed the caning, saying it is a cruel and degrading punishment and discriminates against Muslim women because Malaysian civil law - which applies to non-Muslims - bans the caning of women.

The women, who were fully clothed and sitting on a stool, received between four and six strokes with a thin rattan stick on the back, lasting a few minutes.

Another woman, Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, is still waiting to be caned for drinking beer in public.

Her case received international attention last year when she became the first woman slated to receive a caning penalty.

But the punishment was deferred indefinitely amid a public outcry.

Caning of men for such offenses as despoil, drug smuggling and staying illegally in the country is common.

It is administered with a thick rattan stick on bare buttocks, causing severe pain and leaving scars.

Malaysia has a two-tier justice system.

Shariah courts deal with personal matters for Muslims, who account for about two-thirds of the country's 28 million people, while non-Muslims - many of whom are ethnic Chinese and Indians - go to civil courts.

I lived in Malaysia for fifteen years and noticed the creeping islamisation, starting (of course) with women's dress as more and more young women adopted the telukung (their version of the niqab) and the baju kurung, an all-covering long skirt and tunic. There was always the presence of the religious police, keen on finding unmarried couples in khalwat (close proximity) and on finding people who broke the fast before the official time. In the states ruled by PAS, the Islamic Party, there was a veritable phobia about the "mingling of the sexes", to the extent of having separate lines in supermarkets, one for men and the other for women. The lights were not dimmed in cinemas, just in case it encouraged "hanky-panky"! It seemed to me that the more that was conceded to the fundamentalists, the greater and more far-fetched became their demands. My moderate Muslim friends were perhaps more appalled than I was. Perhaps a lesson here for UK, don't compromise, don't concede to Islamic demands.

FamilyRe: I Think Marriage In Africa Is Against Women. by GEW: 4:05pm On Feb 19, 2010
Nigeria and the West are two different cultures when it comes to dating an marriage.

In the West the woman is to a certain degree protected, usually through the children; Courts always take the Children's welfare into consideration first.

I am sticking my neck out knowing fully well that I will yapped, but lets tell the truth. How many Naija women actively and selflessly help their husbands achieve success. The woman say that they don't want to help the man because he may end up going off with another woman; which is some case is true and some men are ingrates truly and truly.

Lets start from the dating scene; A Naija girl will typically expect the guy to buy her a recharge card if he wants her to call him, I say average as I accept that not all girls are like that.

Moving on to the first and subsequent dates the girl expects the guy to pick up all of the tab, she may even invite her friends along, Then they graduate to shopping; again the guy paying for everything. Even if a Naija girl has money she is not prepared to spend it on a man.

The wedding is planned and once again the man pays for most things, girls generally speaking want to marry a man that is already financially settled so most things are in place before she even moves in. Even after marriage, some women refuse to spend their own money and expect their man to pay 100% of the bills. (We have had topics like this thrashed on Nairaland) and the consensus is that bills are the mans responsibility.

I can therefore see the reluctance of men parting with half their property & money if there is a divorce.

In the West, women generally speaking see themselves as equals to men and act as equals from the start. I am not saying that Western women are not attracted by fame and fortune (The Wags are good examples) but an oyibo woman will have her money in her purse on a date and will expect to pay her own half of the  meal. She doesn't not wait for her boyfriend to top up her T-mobile phone before she calls him, nether does she wait for her finance to have his own house before they get married.

Neither laws are perfect; the Western man who loses his property to a cheating wife or a Naija wife who is sent packing with nothing because the husband has installed a younger model.

Much work can be done on both laws to ensure that both parties have something that they can fall back on after the divorce.
who said truth is bitter?

seriously i think we dont know the value of marriage and strong relationships as a people.  the idea of marrying someone becos he can buy recharge cards and probably has a money dont make for good marriage.

we have a lot to learn and a very long way to go

KunleOshob:
Sorry my brother my conviction in what i profess is purely based on the teachings of christ and it is unshaken, it is also totally different from what these so called men of God profess as they willfully twist scriptures to suit their selfish agendas. Unlike most "christian" who just follow their pastor and believe the pastor is infallible, i study the word and have no problems with pointing out what is wrong with the man made version of the christian faith as opposed to the one based on the teachings of christ himself. When Jesus was with us on this earth he was always at loggerheads with religious leaders[pharisees] of his time cos they twisted scripture to favour themselves and made life difficult for people by introducing their own commandments as God's word. Today our religious leaders are worse than the pharisees Jesus condenmed, so i have no problems ridicling the heresies they preach as the word from God. As a christian you shouldn't feel comfortable or condone the wolves in sheep's clothing amongst us.
kunle, u are still spreading your slow poison slander in 2010. people are supposed to be tollerant of your divisive twisted mind. you know you are 10 fold candidate of hell when you and abusola begin to use the same hymn book.
KunleOshob:
Obviously a lot of of people who are posting on this thread are not privy to the background to it so i would just ignore their daft comments. That apart a lot of people might feel offended that i ridiculed a lot of "church" doctrines here, i have no aplogies either cos the doctrines i ridicled are man made doctrines that have been twisted and presented as the word of God. If the clergy had been upright and going about it's calling based on the true and undiluted bible based teachings the issue of ridicling these false teachings would not even arise. It would also serve to make other christians realize that these are false and ridiculous teachings being perpetuatd by men for their own selfish reasons and not necessarily the word of God. How many of these pastors genuinely use these church collections to do God's work? and what exactly is God's work? i know it is definitely not building churches up and down or spreading the brand name of a particular church franchise, it is more of helping the poor and the needy and very few churches actually engage in this. And to those who fret any time they hear the word pastor mentioned, my question is this who annointed those men as pastors and how do you know they are genuine? There is only one biblically recommended way and that is by the fruits they exhibit. so if any man who claims to be a pastor is exhibiting fruits contrary to what was taught by Jesus i can feel free to ridicle such a person or doctrine knowing fully well that such a person is not known to christ. Jesus himself said that "not all that call him lord [even those who do miracles in his name] shall enter the kingdom of God but only those who do the will of the father.
God work by your defination should be calling all other church/pastors you dont know frauds cos u are the only saint in town. carry on with your loveless scriptures becos they will all stand against you one day

Dating is very different to married life and you will soon find that you will exhaust all the “lovers locations” and then what next?

As you both work very hard, you are better off spending quality time together irrespective of where this is; Even if it’s a case of you gisting in the kitchen, washing the car etc.

Don’t let location stop you from enjoying each others company; even if it is placing a chair in the bathroom for your wife to sit on and chat to her while shaving etc.

My husband and I send messages via YIM when one of us is in a different room in the same house. We also send each other text messages when we are in the same room and I want to tell him something privately without anyone else in the room knowing. Communication & having fun whilst enjoying each others company is most important.

Another alternative is making good use of trusted family members and friends & then leaving the baby with them for a couple of hours or overnight and then you and your wife can spend good quality time together . . . even if you end up staying in bed all day.

Of course once in a while pull all the stops out and spend a nice day at a 4 or 5 star hotel or any other romantic location.

P.s you don’t have Whispering palms on your list 
madam, you are always a breath of fresh air. well done

Christianity EtcRe: Tb Joshua Speaks As Emmanuel Tv’s Cargo Plane Lands In Quake Ravaged Haiti. by GEW: 8:01pm On Feb 04, 2010
The Light2:
In the wake of the recent devastating earthquake which descended on the nation of Haiti, there has been outcry from the world for people and nations to reach out to the affected areas of the country with relief materials which could help alleviate the sufferings of the people of Haiti. A large number of organisations, governments and individuals alike have been quick to respond to this call by sending in their donations in cash to help the people of the nation of Haiti.

The humanitarian crisis that the people and nation of Haiti have to come to terms with has become clearer to the world with the commentaries of the media reporters on ground, who have reported that the efforts of more contributors are required; not only in cash but much more in their physical presence, so they can assist and support the efforts of the powerful nations of the world.

Lending a voice to this group of people is Prophet TB Joshua, the General Overseer and founder of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, Lagos Nigeria, and the founder of Emmanuel TV. Having sent a cargo plane with relief materials to the nation and people of Haiti, in a bid to assuage the distress of the people and nation of Haiti, Prophet TB Joshua has now come out to speak to the world to trail the same path.

Quoting from the Holy bible, in the book of Matthew 25 vs. 45, he explained that it was imperative that everybody sends in their own support to the people of Haiti at this time e of trial in the lives. He underlined the impact of the earthquake on the lives of the children of Haiti, saying they were the future of the nation of Haiti. He stressed the role of love in the life of a true Christian, by reading from the book of 1st Corinthians 13 vs. 13.
Sequel to his first statement, when he announced to the church congregation that the cargo plane that delivered the relief materials had successfully landed in Haiti. He also stated that the team of Emmanuel TV partners had started efforts to build a community clinic, which he noted had already taken delivery of the first baby, named Emmanuella at the Clinique Emmanuel.

Hear him: “I am TB Joshua, on behalf of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations family. I pray to God to richly bless you, in Jesus name, Amen. Thank you for being part of our broadcast today. You would be blessed as you receive the words of God. May the lord bless you abundantly as you help the Haiti people, In Jesus name. Thank you. As regards what is happening in Haiti, we cannot pretend not to see, we are one another’s strength.”

“We need to witness to a troubled world, remember Christ says, all our doings without love are nothing. A true Christian is known by his love. I will like to take you to the book of 1st Corinthians 13 vs. 13: And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Ultimately, we are called to respond to all human needs for that is what love entails. This does not however mean that the demonstration of love for the needy alone is enough to bring us to salvation, but it forms the basis for judging our level of kindness. Our level of faithfulness because looking the other way when our neighbour is in trouble is equal to rejecting Christ himself. The people of Haiti are in need!”
The children of Haiti, some of their parents are trapped as we can see them

“What can you give to them; give it for God’s sake. Love the children of Haiti for God’s sake and you will be loved. Give the people of Haiti for God’s sake and you will receive the mercy and favour of God. They are homeless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Continuing, he said: “God has no hands but only our hands to reach them. Reach them; let his passion check our compassion. It is praise worthy not only when you give within your power but beyond your power. The people of Haiti need you at this time.”

“What can you do for the people of Haiti, do it for God’s sake. Looking the other way when your neighbour in Haiti is in trouble is tantamount to rejecting Christ himself. Whatever is in your hand now is a solution to the people of Haiti. I will like to take you to the book of Matthew 25 vs. 45: ‘Assuredly I say to you, whatever you do the least of your fellow brother that you do unto me.’ Now as a Christian whatever you do or fail to do to your fellow brother that you do unto God. Whatever you do to the people of Haiti that you do unto God. Help the people of Haiti, help the children of Haiti.”
Let us pray: “Lord Jesus, fill our lives with the fire of your love, help us to grow in love until it flows from our heart to others. You have taught us that all our doings without love are nothing. Grant us a loving heart, a will to give and share, to show we really care. Teach us lord to be ever kind, with saviour first in mind. In Jesus Christ name, amen.

“There are many charity organisations, reach them with your gift. Help the people of Haiti, Help the children of Haiti; they are the future of Haiti.”

He concluded by saying: “Prosperity comes when our aims and focus and desire is to build God’s kingdom, as you make a decision today to give for the gospel God will proper you today, In Jesus name. Send your seed and trust that we will deliver and God will bless you In Jesus name. I wish to stop here but I pray that the words of God will bless you in a special way, we meet again, bye!”

PoliticsRe: Alleged Bribe: Oshiomhole, Pdp Lawmakers Trade Words by GEW: 1:43pm On Feb 02, 2010
yampoo:
The 12 members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Edo State House of Assembly on Monday accused Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his party, the Action Congress, of using financial inducement of N100m intimidation and threats to disorganise the leadership of the House.

The governor has, however, denied the allegation, advising the lawmakers to concentrate on the task for which they were elected.

The PDP legislators alleged that the governor and his party were using unlawful means to lure them to the party, adding that they had been promised the position of Speaker, Deputy Speaker as well as automatic re-election in 2011.

The PDP Majority Leader in the House, Mr. Frank Okiye, who made the allegation on behalf of others at a news conference in Benin, said there were text messages to authenticate their claims.

Among those accused of making the move on the PDP legislators are a former Secretary to the State Government during the administration of ex- Governor Lucky Igbinedion, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu; Mr. Thomas Okosun and Mr. Omo Ezomon.

He said, “This is a statement of fact and not fiction as there are text messages to authenticate these claims, where necessary. Similarly, we have revelations from our colleagues who were contacted with promises ranging from offers of N50m to N100m in addition to occupying the offices of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker as well as guaranteeing them automatic tickets in the 2011 elections on the platform of the Action Congress.

“Where these entire attempts fail, the same cabal has vowed to deplete the number of PDP legislators in the House through any means, including elimination.”

Three PDP members in the House: Blessing Agbebaku (Owan West); Samuel Saiki (Akoko-Edo II) and Sunday Ereghan (Esan Central), alleged that they were approached with promises of N50m and N100m.

The PDP legislators alleged that the leadership of the AC and top government functionaries had made clandestine visits to the lawmakers, urging them to change the leadership of the House.

Also, the Speaker, Mr. Zakawanu Garuba, threatened to declare the seat of any member who defected vacant by invoking Section 109 of the 1999 Constitution.

Zakawanu said, “I am not expecting any AC member in the House to join the PDP. When we were in government, I did not even encourage any of them because I believe it is a part of our political culture we must discourage.

“The fact that it has not been implemented in other areas does not mean it will not be implemented in Edo State.

“As far as I remain the presiding officer and I swore to uphold the provision of the constitution, I will say it here, that if an AC member defects to PDP, I will declare his seat vacant under Section 109. If a PDP member defects to the AC, I will declare his seat vacant, as far as I remain the speaker of Edo State House of Assembly. I cannot encourage unconstitutional conduct in the House.”

But in a swift reaction, Ize-Iyamu, who admitted visiting Ereghan alongside some AC chieftains, said they went there based on the lawmaker’s demand for an automatic ticket in the 2011 election and the Speakership position.

“But we told him that it won’t work; that he should forget about the Speakership and talk of returning to the House. They are trying to cry wolf where there is none. There is nothing wrong in the AC using legitimate means to get the position of Speaker. We won’t pay anybody any money.”

Also reacting, Oshiomhole’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria, in a statement said, “For the records, carpet-crossing is a normal democratic practice the world over; but neither the state government nor the Action Congress will use any undemocratic method to force anybody to join its fold.

“Threatening to declare the seat of any member vacant using Section 109 of the constitution as cover will not work as no seat of members of the House of Representatives and Senate who defected from other parties to the PDP was ever declared vacant. All members have a right to belong to or cross over to any party of their choice.”

LET'S WAIT AND SEE AS THE DRAMA UNFOLDS
when is the comrade going to decamp to his party? these idiots are making mockery of democracy

American marriages? The untold truth!
Christy Anyanwu

After listening to Eucharia Iheme, a qualified nurse who lives and practices her profession in United States of America, you are challenged with that simple adage that says ‘not all that glitters are gold.’ As many women yearn to relocate to God’s own country to enjoy the land of plenty, flowing with milk and honey, some of the privileged ones who are already residents there, are yearning to come back home despite the poor infrastructures, insecurity and general poor lifestyle.

In this interview with Agatha Emeadi, Iheme who has lived in US for 15years was in Nigeria for the Christmas and New Year celebrations and recalls from personal experience, and confessions of other women she came across in the cause of her job how most married women who live and work in the United States have been pushed to act otherwise due to different types of stress they are subjected to. She also talked on why American society has a well-laid down structure to assist women who are in difficulties.

In US men assist in house hold chores
Yes, they do assist in house hold chores, change baby diaper, cook and all that. It has to be, because women are not treated like women. At the end of month, you are expected to put down your contribution to the upkeep of the home. I am not saying that women in Nigeria do not contribute, but in a situation where it is written and documented, what do you expect? Half of the house rent would be waiting for you, infact the bill is shared into two, and you know that you are expected to live up to it.

Here in Nigeria, I know some ladies who are working but their husbands takes 90 percent of the responsibilities. Again, here in Nigeria, a couple might afford one or two housemaids to assist in the household chores, but over there, if you do not get up to take water, you will not drink. If you did not cook, there will not be food for you. If you did not clean the house, you will live in a filthy environment.

We need their help in everything, not just money and if you turn it the other way round, most of the women would want their husbands to make money while they remain at home to do the house hold chores, do school runs and all that.

You as a woman, you do the house chores and you still make money, you are still stressed. Is it ideal? A typical example is like this, the man might go to work for 8hours and come back home to watch Television and attend to other personal things, while the woman goes to work for 16hours. She will come back to cook, clean, attend to the children and all that. If the man is not assisting her, is she not being subjected to sudden death? That kind of a man wants the woman to die because another lady is on the way. “You are the man, you get them in and kick them out.”
But then, this is not applicable to all men. There are some who do not give their wives this kind of hell, but I must confess to you that most Nigerian women are living in bondage in the name of marriage and pretend about it because they live in America.

What kind of stress
If you have bad man around you, he will be jealous of your progress. If you are in school trying to upgrade your certificate, he will term your lecturer as your boyfriend. If your pastor puts a call through to your house, that pastor will also be termed as your concubine. He would create all impossible avenues to make sure that goal is not met. If you are into business, the morning you are expecting great sales, you might wake up with baseless accusations, arguments and explanations.

When a wife is turned into a slave, she cannot be happy, she will not do something well. A woman acts the way she is treated in her own home. Not every woman is a devil but most have been driven to become devils and witches. This is due to the circumstances they experience in the hands of their various spouses.

Other types of stress they face include financial stress. You are expected to bring this amount of money to assist him erect a state of the art building in his father compound because you are making money. If that money is not forthcoming or he suspects you are sending it to assist your own family, love vanishes from the house. The computer becomes his favorite companion.
What about domestic violence? It is not ruled out in lives of couples in America. Women are battered and when the report to the law authorities, the man in question faces the music.

Marriage break-ups
Nigerian marriages in America break up easily because they have ceased to be institution ordained by God. Marriages are seen as social contracts, what will I gain if I marry her? Will she make money for me, does she have papers? Yes, we know that values are added when real marriages are contracted. I am not saying that couples do not compliment each other. In the cause of my job as a nurse of over 15years in America, I can tell you that most marriages are already broken before they are consummated. Most guys in America come back home to look for nurses to marry. Have you bothered to ask how many of those men are qualified nurses who make the real money? The health sector in the US is lucrative.

That is the reason most men who lives in America look forward to marrying a nurse who they can turn into a money-spilling machine. You see a truck pusher in America; he is looking for a nurse to marry. The ones who are already married here, the moment they come to America, the wife must change her profession immediately to become a nurse in the next three or four years. Just because he has managed to cross over to America, he starts looking for a nurse to marry. They do not want to face the realities of life and live a simple life.

American men do not want to marry a beautiful lady anymore; intelligence does not attract a young man to a lady again. Good family background is written off, good behavior; good mannerism is all out of it. The only thing is that she must be a nurse. Every other quality could be contained as long as she is a nurse.
Another reason why marriages break up is if a lady has the almighty ‘Resident Permit’ also known as papers. If you are a single lady in America who has papers, you are treated like a mini-god. The man who marries you treats you like an egg. He will endure all, but the moment he gets his own permit through you, he takes off probably to go and look for a nurse that will compliment his life with hard currency. All these are not applicable to all men in America but most of them are gold diggers.

Why law favors women in America
Yes, the law favors women in America because they know what women go through in the hands of men. Lives have been loss through various kinds of stress that women are subjected to. They foresaw it long ago because a lot of women go through hell in the hands of their spouses. The only thing that protects women in this society is the law. The men that behave themselves in their marriages in America, do they have anything to do with the law? The law will not catch up with anybody who did not attract its wrath.

Well, I can tell you that it depends on who are married to and how both of you want to handle family issues. If there is any issue that arises between couples, the best that a man can do is to hear the woman out. A woman should be allowed to contribute her own idea. But when that African mentality is been applied, where the woman is supposed to be perpetually silent, not too many like that idea.

Advice
I will advice Nigerian ladies coming to America to be sure of what they are getting to. They should also know the type of job that these men do in America. Let that funny fantasy of a husband living in America go. Some of those who live in US and promise Nigerian women marriages are happily married over there. They would not tell these girls the simple truth that they are living with a woman they want to get their papers through, rather, they would keep these girls to wait for them for ages. The chances are that about 80 percent of such marriages do not work. These girls should be aware of the so-called American husbands.
