will advice against it for younger men. most women your age are miles " street wiser" than you so going to take one say 5yrs older is not wisdom in my book.
that is not to say there is no exception but will seriously advise against it unless your life and well being depends on having one.

People need to get over this double standard. I see nothing wrong with an older woman marrying a younger guy or an older man marrying a younger woman. There's no difference.

the fact that some of you are considering voting evil ibb becos he promised you ibo presidency in 2015 shows how naive and evil some nigerians are. some of you are so gulible and short sighted it is unbelievable. we are gradually working our way to becoming the next liberia and sierra leone you guys cant smell it.

pdp has been bad news for nigeria so far if they turn up with ibb as their candidate any nigerian voting for them will be voting against nigeria as an entity.

With the 2011 election fast approaching, people and groups are campaigning for various aspirants. The Ibrahim Babangida for You (IBB4U) is one of the groups rooting for the candidature of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida.

Project Director of the group, Mr. Abuchi Anaeto has pleaded with Nigerians to support Babangida, who, according to him, has all it takes to change the country positively.

With President Goodluck Jonathan as leader of the PDP, how would Babangida actualise his dream of being president?
I am sure we can achieve our dream. We believe that in 2011, IBB will become president of the country. PDP is made up of individuals. The question to ask is: how much of President Jonathan do we have in each PDP members and how much of IBB is in each member. Also, for how long will that loyalty remain? In a democracy, as opposed to a dictatorship, everybody is involved. Democracy is not about who is in grip of party machinery, otherwise it’s no longer democracy but dictatorship. I want to put it to you that IBB is more politically relevant than any other person in the party. If you look at his background, with his military training he has an edge. If you are talking about adaptability to manage difficult situation of life, IBB is shoulders above others. And he is highly detribalized. He cuts across all the geopolitical zones.

Having clarified that, it implies that we are not afraid. That is why we have started our campaign from the grassroots. We are telling Nigerians that IBB is the best candidate so far. Nigerians must make haste and move on tirelessly with the determination to reach a better future with Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

You seem to be sure of this. What gives you the confidence and what structure do you have?
To start with, we are group of professionals and businessmen who have decided to come together to work for the realisation of this noble objective. Right now, we have about 15 zonal coordinators in 15 states, with structures fully on ground. We have printed over 50, 000 posters, which we have been pasting across the country. We also have operational website, which is WWW.IBB4Y.COM, where millions of people are already clamouring for IBB’s return to power. All in all, we have the foot soldiers who have been deployed to the grassroots to spread the good news.

What is IBB looking for after spending about eight years as military president?
First, without sentiment, we believe that he will be a servant- leader, especially as this is democracy. With his vast experience, IBB will ensure that there is elimination of poverty from the nation. He will also fight corruption. All these and many more is what IBB will offer. Let me also digress by saying that he will ensure equity in all appointments by making sure that all the cry over injustice and marginalization is addressed. He will actively seek to bring back the reputation of the nation as the giant of Africa. He will address the Niger Delta problem.
Let me ask you. Why did former President Olusegun Obasanjo come back after ruling the country as a Head of State? Why is Gen Muhammadu Buhari trying to come back to rule this country? Why are people not looking at all these people but only raise their voices whenever IBB’s name is mentioned? It is simply because they are afraid to face him.

But to answer your question. IBB wants to come back because those in charge have not been able to get it right because of their limited knowledge of Nigerian politics. It is either they are pro-North or pro-South. But IBB sees the country as one. He doesn’t believe that you an Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. All he is interested in is how to unite the country and move it forward.

What do you think of President Goodluck Jonathan and how will IBB be better?
Only a Narcissist tries to make himself look good by rubbishing others. We are not such group. I want to start by recognising the good things that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is doing for the nation. For a start, the Jonathan administration has raised the hope of Nigerians. We are happy he is not parochial. Jonathan knows that what Nigerians need today is unity. To be very honest, President Jonathan is trying his best for the nation. But what every past leader in Nigeria did wrong is what IBB is coming back to correct. He knows it more than all of them. For instance, he empowered women. Anyone who cares to ask will learn that women are the backbone of civil society and it was the IBB regime that championed their empowerment, through his wife.

Could you be more specific?
What I am saying is that Nigerians have seen the worst of IBB. He cannot be worse than the IBB we know as a military leader. And Nigeria, since the return of democracy, is not the same kind of Nigeria we had during the military era. Things have changed. The military left us since 12 to 13 years now. What I am simply saying is that we cannot use that past record of military era to judge IBB. Again, I can tell you that IBB is the wisest Nigerian leader ever. It is said that the wise man foresees evil and hides himself. His decision to step aside when this country was about to implode was not out of cowardice but to stop evil. He believes he will come back. And there is no better time than today.

Since you began this project, have you got the endorsement of IBB?
Obviously, the endorsement of IBB will make a huge difference to our campaign, given his track records, as man who has served this nation for more than 40 years. But come to think of it, do we need to get an endorsement from IBB before we begin to do what is good for this country? We don’t need endorsement for that because what we are doing is for the good of the nation. However, we hope that the merit of our project will attract such a powerful endorsement.

Nevertheless, for now, our appeal goes to all Nigerians, including the rich and the poor, the men and the women, those at home and those abroad, the young and the old, the powerful and the powerless, to support IBB. History is full of good examples of people in power who saw a good candidate and supported such a candidate for the good of the people. Many rich people have also supported the common good without any desire to own the project. We hope that such powerful people and rich individuals will support us. We need all the support we can for IBB, so that we elect him president in 2011 and make poverty a history in our land.

But Nigerians are not happy with IBB…
It is not true. I think many like what I am doing. Can you prove it? They are saying that I have collected money from Babangida, but that’s not true.

Why do you like IBB?
Babangida is a mature leader. This nation needs a mature leader like him. He has experience. He is a father figure. IBB is more than qualified. I want you to understand that this a man who has touched every geopolitical zone of Nigeria. And you know that during his time, he was able to cage the armed forces with his charisma. He is a man who knows how to reach out.

Nigeria has many others with the same characteristics?
It is certain that not everybody will like you. Even Jesus Christ was hated by some. You must have an opposition. That is what democracy is all about. So, people are bound to disagree with what I am saying. We welcome this opposing view, but what we are saying is that IBB is also accepted by millions. These are Nigerians who want him to come back. We are happy that a lot of people are beginning to understand our point. Remember that there was a time that IBB was not accepted in the South West. But what is happing today? Even the founder of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, has come out to campaign for a change; the same thing with Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who said recently that IBB is a better candidate than others. These are Nigerian leaders.

8pt]Incest: Who will save these girls?

Written by Banji Aluko Sunday, 04 July 2010

THE word, incest, which is sexual experience with a blood relation is regarded as a taboo all over the world; a grievous abomination before God, deities and man. Not even in nations, where intra-family unions are allowed is such an act condoned. In the centuries past, punishments were meted out to people who committed the act. The act is even punishable in some cultures with death or ostracisation or banishment. Such was how offensive the act was considered then. In other cultures, people found guilty of the act were forced to dance naked around the markets, and finally settle at the shrine, where they would make sacrifices to appease the gods for defiling the land.

With the passing of time, incest, although still seen as abomination, is gradually becoming a common occurrence. And when they occur, one can only pity the victims as they are usually left with agonising pain forever. In virtually every society, irrespective of tribe or colour, the act keeps occurring. Recently, some absurd cases of incest were recorded.

A recent occurrence was that of a Ghanian pastor, Prophet Nana Kofi Yirenkyi, who is in custody for allegedly defiling his 10-year-old daughter. Although Prophet Yirenkyi, also known as ‘Jesus One Touch’, was alleged to have blamed his househelp cum watchman for defiling the daughter, the victim was reported to have told some elders of the family and the police that it was his father who had been defiling her.

In Nigeria is the pathetic story of a 45-year old Philip Ben from Akwa Ibom State who was reported to have deflowered his daughter and in the process impregnated the 12-year-old teenager. The man, during interrogation, was reported to have confessed to the police that he had sex several times with the girl.

If the story was pathetic, then how can one describe this. One Mr. Emmanuel Obot, 46, did not only rape his two daughters several times, but ended up impregnating one of them.

Mr. Obot was alleged to have threatened to kill the two girls aged, 22 and 24, if they failed to agree to his incestuous desires. On one occasion, he wilfully destroyed one of the girl's clothings so as to have carnal knowledge of her. The other was also flogged several times for struggling with her father. In a case of poetic justice, he was recently sentenced to seven years imprisonment by an Ikeja magistrate court. "It is the most atrocious of crime that could be meted out on one's flesh and blood.

The action of the accused will leave a psychological torture on the girls," was the declaration of the trial judge.

The case of 16-year-old Miss Aminat Adeleke, a virgin, deflowered by her own father in Ibadan, also leaves a sour taste in the mouth. According to the girl, she had been living with her maternal grand-mother after the death of her mother when her father came to lure her to Ibadan. And when she was defiled by her father, it became clear to her that her father actually brought her to Ibadan so as to gain entrance into her ‘honey pot’.

Following the increase in the rate of incest, Sunday Tribune, during the week, asked Nigerians the appropriateness of leaving grown up daughters with their fathers alone at home and the reasons for the increase in incest.

Mrs. Bola Bakare, trader
No. Due to the increase in sexual harassment by fathers of their daughters, one needs to be very careful. I trust my husband but men generally should not be trusted. Looking at the issue from spiritual angle, it is very dangerous. It is not because some fathers are willing to sleep with their daughters, but such things happen due to the fact that the father might be possessed. This problem is also common among men who indulge in extra-marital affairs because when they can’t find a partner, they lay their hands on anything they find around them. It is not only fathers that perpetrate such acts. A close friend of mine, who has been married for about five years, recently discovered that her husband slept with her mother when they were at the university. All we need to do is to pray for such a thing not to occur in our homes.

Mr. Bello, media consultant
I don't believe there is anything wrong with daughters being left with their fathers alone at home. Most of these fathers who sleep with their daughters are jobless if you find out. Even mothers can be careless with their daughters which can lead to prostitution. Poverty can also lead to that. The major reason for this act nowadays I believe has to do with the high level of divorce. Most of these useless fathers are mostly single parents and any time they feel like doing it, they end up sleeping with their daughters. In situation where a teenage girl lives with her father without the presence of the mother, such thing can occur. Putting the custody of female children in the care of mothers may not solve the problem because the mothers will still marry another man who might want to defile the poor girl too.

Mr. Ochulo U., banker,
This kind of a question does not require any answer than yes. If the children cannot be left with fathers at home, then such men are not worth being father. How can a father think of deriving sexual pleasure from his own daughter? This attitude is a criminal offence. A man should rather go to a prostitute than thinking of going to his daughter. As for those who go to the minors, they are nothing but insane and have nothing better to do in life. If any responsible and God-fearing man is caught in this act, we can say that the devil pushed him to put him in shame and destroy him.

Mr. Ayelaagbe, teacher
The issue of father and daughter staying together in a house does not mean anything and should not induce incest between the father and the daughter. Let’s look into the case of a father who has no male child but has five to six girls as children in the house. Does that mean that he should be sleeping with them? Any reasonable man is not supposed to be found in this kind of a mess because a man can marry more than one wife if he wants to satisfy his sexual urge than defiling his daughter.

Mrs. Fajemisin, business woman
Such thing is unnatural. At least we have parents and we lived with them before we moved on with our lives but it is nowadays you find such things happening. We are in the end time and different unspeakable things are happening. All these things are not natural. May God see us through this evil time.

Ustaz Sanusi Afolakeu, Islamic scholar.
The issue of fathers violating their daughters could be traced to the decadence in our culture. We have defaulted in the laws and ethics of Islam. In the holy Qur'an, Almighty Allah instructed us that whenever our children reach the age of adolescence, we should separate the males from the females including the father and mother and on no account should the father go to the girls’ room during odd hours. Even if he must enter the girls’ apartment, he must knock the door before he enters. On the issue of dressing, the manner female children expose their bodies within the house these days is bad. Everything boils down to how we live and organise our homes. To stop this, it is not that fathers should be separated from their daughters, but fathers should organise their homes by separating male children from female and dressing should e controlled.

Man, 23, attempts to rape she-goat

| Print | E-mail

Written by Oluwatoyin Malik Sunday, 04 July 2010

The unusual happened recently when a 23-year-old man was caught while attempting to mate with a goat.

The man, whose name was given as Kazeem (surname witheld) was found out by the owner of the goat, Joseph Onuwa, when he heard the cry of the goat.

According to police sources, the owner of the goat, who lived in the same house with Kazeem, had tied the goat to a stump while he was resting in his room at Elere Area, Apata, Oyo State.

Onuwa came out of his room when he heard his goat crying ceaselessly, hoping to nab whoever was attempting to steal it. To his amazement, the goat was no longer where he tied it.

Having looked round the area and not find his goat, Onuwa decided to sit close to where he heard the noise coming from to see whether the person attempting to steal the goat would fall into his trap.

Surprisingly, the suspect emerged from the bathroom of their residence, leading the goat which he held in her tether.

He was reported to have confessed to the goat owner that he attempted having sex with the goat, but could not achieve his aim as the goat proved stubborn and cried endlessly, attracting the attention of the owner.

Kazeem said he did not know what came over him when he saw the goat as he was about going to the bathroom to have his bath.

Blaming the devil for his action, Kazeem asked for the forgiveness of the goat owner.

The owner, who hails from Benue State, said it was an abomination in his culture for such a thing to occur.

He initially requested that the suspect pay for the goat and take custody of her, but later gave him the goat without taking any money.

The incident was reported at Kuola Police post, but was later transferred to Apata Police Division. The suspect was interrogated and later released on bail due to his state of health.

Sunday Tribune gathered that the young man recently had an accident while on a motorcycle, losing a toe, with the injury area already turning gangrenous.

Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations in Oyo State, DSP Olabisi Okuwobi, described the act as bestial, stating that the suspect was granted bail on health grounds, while investigations were still on.

Adedibu’s wife, aides launch IBB campaign

| Print | E-mail

Written by By Banji Aluko Sunday, 04 July 2010

In furtherance of the presidential ambition of General Ibrahim Babangida, the Oyo State and local governments’ campaign executives of the former military president were yesterday inaugurated in Ibadan.

The well-attended occasion, which took place at K.S. Motel in Ibadan, had in attendance a chieftain of PDP in Oyo State, Alhaji Azeem Gbolarumi; wife of the late strongman of Ibadan politics, Alhaja Bose Adedibu and some close associates of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State.

Alhaji Gbolarumi, who is the coordinator of the Oyo State IBB Campaign Organisation, said the annulment of June 12 presidential election should not stop IBB from contesting the 2011 election because IBB had done many positive things for Nigeria in the past.

“We in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have seen the qualities embedded in the man and we identify with him in his quest to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2011. So much has been said about the man IBB and his leadership credentials. Permit me, therefore, to say that most of these are fallacies and a creation of a class of elite, who are bent on denying Nigerians of quality leadership”, he stated.

Alhaji Gbolarumi also spoke on what he called the ‘six imaginary’ sins of IBB, which are consistently raised as factors that disqualify IBB from contesting. He said the ‘imaginary sins’ were: the Dele Giwa’s murder issue; the refusal of IBB to appear at the Oputa Panel; the excess oil proceeds; the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP); why IBB secretly enlisted Nigeria as a member of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC), and the annulment of the June 12 election.

On June 12, Alhaji Gbolarumi said the annulment should be seen in the mould of the continued existence of Nigeria.

Other notable people who graced the event include the chairman of Oyo State T.C.T.C., Alhaji Shina Alabi; Major Salawu;former chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Mr. Yemi Aderibigbe; the chairman of the Lagos State executive of the IBB Campaign Organisation, Mr. Ebunola Martins, and representatives of the Hausa and Igbo communities.

On her own, Alhaja Bose Adedibu said there were answers for people who did not believe in the presidential ambition of IBB if only they would believe in fate. Different speakers took turns to extol the virtues of General Babangida.

Alhaji Sidi Ali, who represented General Babangida at the occasion, said IBB had presented himself to Nigerians, hence it was left for Nigerians to decide on him.

A bride that keeps herself preoccupied with other people looking nicer than her at her own wedding is shallow and insecure.
does the rule book say people should not be insecure during wedding?

Politics / Re: How Corruption Works In Countries Like The USA! by GEW: 5:31pm On May 27, 2010
Cohomology:

Yes corruption exists everywhere yadi yadi yada, we've heard. undecided

In Nigeria, corruption is a god, worshiped by 99% of the government. Mighty temples have been erected in Abuja and many parts of Nigeria for the daily (sometimes hourly) supplication to this popular god.

In the USA, corruption is a contained (not eradicated) disease, with occasional but limited breakouts.

No comparison whatsoever!

truth 100%. i dont know why some people think it is ok becos it is happening in america. why dont we get the good hospitals, electricity and good roads before we start comparing ourselves with "poor" america?
