TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by giftwalter: 10:11am On Oct 07, 2014
I have contacted all the schools dat offer Engineering..am waiting for their reply.
honourableseyi:
Seriously I can't say precisely. I think you will have to mail the schools of your choice. Have seen any? have explore daad.de? go through this link to get that. https://www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programs/en/?p=l#q=&degree[]=1&fos[]=4&subject=0&lang[]=2&langDistribution=0&sortBy=1&page=4&display=list. I was able to get 3 schools for you, check out their websites, for requirements and contact address, mail them about what you are looking for. Find below the schools. But if I were you, I will follow up what I'm already doing now till when I will get to Germany after which I will change the course to the desired one. But before pursuing the route, I will first of all ask the house if there is possibility of changing my course when I get to Germany. There is doubt that you will know better when you get there.

You know NOUN does not offer Pure Engineering course, but I do Physics, Maths, Chemistry in my course..and according to my admission letter am in the Faculty of Sciences.

Is der any othe course I can do in NOUN dat can help get admission in Engineering?

Eke40seven:
Well, this issue is a bit complicated. It depends on the structure of the course in the university you are coming from and the type of engineering course you are going for. For instance, if in the engineering course you are going for is closely related to the environment e g environmental engineering, they should expect you to have a foundation at year 1 which will give you a good chance of progressing without hassles. Note that year 1 in a Nigerian University is like a foundation or A level to prepare you for the task ahead, while in Germany, you are expected to have that knowledge at Abitur or A level or studienkollieg. that is why university education there is shorter than university education in Nigeria and why a Nigerian university will accept O'level only, while a German university will not.
For instance, the reason why all the departments in Eng. in Nigerian universities will do similar courses at year 1 is because they are being prepared for what they lack at A' level. That's why they do physics, chemistry, further maths, etc.
Now in a few sentence, they may or they may not accept you in Engineering, it all depends on the engineering course you choose, the course structure in your uni here and also may be the competitiveness of the school.
Send the school a mail and send them your course module before you apply, they will be in the best position to advise you on what to do.
I see, thou hast possessed the ancient tongues.
Hope thou findest this helpful.
Fare thee well!

I saw on this thread that as long as the course your applying for is in thesame department with the 1 your in currently you can use. Enviromental Science is in the Department/Faculty of science.

Am asking if I can use it to apply.

honourableseyi:
The last time I checked, NOUN doesn't have any Engineering course. So how do you want to do it?
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by giftwalter: 5:19pm On Oct 06, 2014
I want to apply to All the Universities of Apllied Science. Will it be accepted?

The university am currently attending is National Open University their Head Office is in Lagos. Do I go der to request for the transcript?

Quadri001:
@ giftwalter;

1. Engr. course in which school?
2. Transcripts is a school to school matter. Transcripts is NOT giving to individual but are transferred from one school to the other at the request of the student, so formally request from your school.
3. Take the original documents and the photocopy and take to the court anywhere, Lagos High court, Ikeja, Igbosere anywhere or consult a lawyer they will notarize the photocopies for you.

@ all my ogas @ the top, I greet you. Thy humbled follower has harkened to thy instructions and read the previous threads. And has received the blessings of information.

But I still have a few questions, pls be merciful and shower thee with thy words of wisdom.

1. Am currently a Noun student studying Eviromental Science, I stop some months back due to finance.. I want to start all over again in January. can I use my 100 level transcript to apply for Engineering course?

2. I was told dat Students can print der transcript online, and take it to the school's office so it can be stamped. Can I use it to apply? Since it didn't come from the school's office?

3. Where can I notarize all my documents before I apply? so dat I can be on the safe side..so dat the university won't think they are fake.

Am confused ooh huh huh, what will I do?

I just realized that i can't use just my WAEC result to apply for undergraduate programe that it doesn't meet German University requirements.
I have google searched and saw that i have to attend Studienkolleg preparatory course....Where and how can i do this preparatory course?

i thought all that was required was my WAEC and TOFEL results.

wat are the alternatives for me to get admitted, is it Cambridge A level or wat?

wat are my options?

plz tell me wat do i do? plz
Eke40seven:
Kai!!!!!
Where did you read that?
My sponsor is married to a German with 2 kids. As far as he is financially buoyant, they will not reject his application

Kai!!!
Thou shalt keep asking questions of this kind if thou abhorest earlier advise to read previous post. Mine advise to thee is to read from page 300 at least.
This answer thou seekest lieth 10 pages from hither. I say unto thee, check, ere thou comest to ask. perchance naijobi shall come unto thee with a divine meal.
WAEC is not enough, except, with a BSC, or a year transcript in the university or an HND or an A' level result like Cambridge.
God bless thee.

I read in this forum that issue of sponsorhip letter might be declined if the person in germany is married. Because the officals in the Local Govt might tink dat the person might not be financially boyant to cater for me and his family. My aunt is married with 2 kids and she is married to a Nigerian who is a German citizen. Will they decline the sponsorship letter because he has too much responsibilities?

You should go over at least the last 50-75 pages preceding this one and you will be almost fully equipped with useful information as this your question has been answered times without number. Anyway, getting a letter of sponsorship will suffice, hence, overcoming the need for the 8000 euros.

I want to learn, am in warri delta state. CanKt go to Lagos cuz its too far..wats ur advice?
nairalandist:
Nice to see you guys exchanging ideas here. Although some of the information being exchanged here may not be totally accurate, I still commend you guys for the good job.

For the benefit of those who want to learn some German, I happen to be a Certified German Language Teacher.

A little bit about the German language: Like every other European language, it's structured on a 6 Level scale; Level A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. I recommend a minimum of A2 for anyone intending to study in Germany, even if you're going for an English-taught degree. It will help you socialize easily and you can start B1 classes when you get to Germany.

If you need any resource with regards to learning the language, just let me know here, I'll be glad to help. smiley

Good luck guys wink

Eke40seven: If only you read 5-6 pages back, you could have seen where this Language thing was discussed comprehensively with good links to help.
If you do not do your self the favour of reading like at least 100 pages back (from 300).
OK since you are new, here are some quotes that may answer your questions.

1. Google "daad German language requirements for university admission" for more information.

2. Yes, you must pass one level in order to move to the next. Check the website I sent you earlier for more confirmation. CHECK O! but u remember reading it. EVERY INFORMATION you need is on their website.

If you can find good language school in warri you can do your tutorials there and prepare and tàke your exams at Geothe because getting a house around there is another matter o!

P.S. These quotes were in response to your first post.

i have seen universities that offer courses in English, but i want to Learn German too before i travel....I saw online that Goethe-Insitut in Nigeria have offices in Lagos...It seems i would relocate to Lagos and start the course by January..
tayoslayer: If you're new here then you must have a lot of ambiguous questions, meaning one question leading to another. Best advice is read at least the first 100pages of this thread , you might even end up advising others smiley Don't know about any German Programs in Warri but when you read through enough pages, use DAAD to search search for potential schools you will be able to make a good choice(some schools might offer your program in English, few for B.Sc unlike M.Sc). Just take your time and read through.

emperoracro: @ Giftwalter, have was once in ur shoes; tired of studyin in Nigeria, wanting sometin beta but money is d probs. Just rely on God He will see u tru.
My Opinions:
1) U can work n raise atleast 2yrs Tuition n 1yr accomodation n upkeep bfor u liv Nija (since u ar goin for UG,most UG ar at least 4yrs)
2) Wen u get to Canada, maintain a very low profile, get a job (n pls stay on d gud side of the law, dont work beyond d permitted durations o)
3) U can also check schools in d scadinavian countries, so offer free tuition but u need to av atleat 6k USD or so bfor u can b given visa

PS: The maths u did bfor is very wrong,y?
- u didnt consider tax
- u can work unlimited hrs during holidays to boost ur income
- 100 weekly expenses is unrealistic, considering the fact dat most low cost apartment is 400Cad monthly

All in all,i applaud ur tenacity. Dont give up.
Good luck to all of us (all d LOA, medical n TRV hopefuls)
