24 final year students of Bayero University Kano (BUK) have been expelled from the institution as confirmed in a statement released by its management on Friday August 9.

The statement released by the spokesperson for the university Lamara Garba, revealed that 6 students presented fake results from their institutions while another student presented a cancelled NECO result. It however added that 18 students will be reappearing before the Senate Committee on Entry Qualification Irregularities to be given a fair hearing on their expulsion.

The students' expulsion announcement came after the 374th meeting of the University's Senate on Wednesday August 7. It was learnt that 10 of the expelled students were from the Faculty of Education, nine from Faculty of Social and Management Sciences while Faculties of Law, Agriculture, Science, Engineering and Arts and Islamic Studies had one each.

An attempt to steal the casket of late business mogul Olorogun Michael Ibru, led to pandemonium in Agbarha-Otor community of Ughelli North Local Government Area in Delta State.

The grave break-in was discovered in the early hours of Friday August 9, and this led to restriction of movement in the Delta Community from 12am. The tomb raiders were unsuccessful in the attempt after allegedly pouring acid on the grave which is located behind the Ibru Clinic, Vanguard reported.

Prof Sam Ibodje, the President General of the community and a retired university don confirmed the incident and he said it has been reported at the Ughelli ‘B’ Division police station.

Anthony Joshua admits he needs to rediscover his passion before his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr.

Joshua was dropped four times before being stopped in the seventh round by the huge underdog in New York in June.

The pair will meet again later this year with Joshua determined to win back his three heavyweight world titles.

And the Brit revealed he is ready to avenge his sole professional defeat.

“I need to soak in the boxing environment again, get that passion back,” Joshua told Sky Sports . “The only fighter I’m interested in right now is Ruiz and beating him good so I can get those belts back.

“The only guys I should be fighting are the best in the world. I feel like I can correct my wrongs. I’ve come from a tough background and I know Ruiz beating me is something I can overcome.”

The venue of the rematch remains up in the air with a late bid from Saudi Arabia rivalling the Principality Stadium in Cardiff – which is Joshua’s preference.

Ruiz, however, is adamant he will not travel to the UK.

But Joshua added: “We’re doing a lot of talking about what he wants but he doesn’t call the shots. I don’t mind fighting in America because I’ve done it before.

“I went there off my own back so for the rematch I would love it to be in Cardiff but it’s going to be on neutral ground; Ruiz is the champ so he will make some calls as well.

“I will battle for it to be in the UK because it’s my stomping ground. I did one out there so lets do the rematch here.

A 35-year old man, Alex Godwin, arrested for penetrating a 10-year old girl, told the Police that he did not rape the victim because his dick did not penetrate her because of its size during the act.

Source reports that the Police at Isokoko Division arrested Godwin after he was allegedly caught attempting to defile the victim by forcing his manhood into her private.

The incident happened at Ogunjibi Street, Ayobo area of Lagos, where they reside.

It was gathered that the suspect, Alex, reportedly lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pant and tried to penetrate her private.
However, he was said to be unable to do so and because of the pain, the victim raised alarm which attracted their neighbours and they were caught.

He was subsequently handed over to the Police and he reportedly admitted that he attempted to penetrate her but was unable to do so because of the size of his dick.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement.

The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Christopher John, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
The Court directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

Source gathered that if the DPP finds Alex culpable and recommends his trial, the matter will be transferred to the High Court for trial. He may likely spend several years in prison if he is tried, found guilty for the alleged offence and sentenced accordingly.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 arrested 29 men suspected to be involved in internet-related fraud.

The suspects were arrested at Akoto Estate, Elebu area in Ibadan during an early morning raid carried out by operatives of the Commission.

Earlier, the team had conducted series of surveillance, working on strings of intelligence gathered on the activities of the suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’.

The preliminary investigation was found to be credible, leading to the sting operation.

Among the items recovered from the suspects are eight exotic cars, many costly phones and laptops, as well as documents suspected to be used for their illicit dealings.

They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
