I don't know what you outsiders are looking for in this thread. Go to your Imo state thread and discuss about the terrorist attacks going on in Owerri and Imo state in general. Yes, Anambra has Igala population and we consider them our kith and kins even more than you outsiders. We are one people in Anambra because Anambra is a monolithic state. It is Anambra first before any outsiders. You people's attempt to divide Anambra due to your hate and envy will never work because Anambra is one.

talking about roads that are 10 Lanes in South East
bro owerri has roads of such nature expanded which was done by rochas, although some are now bad but that doesn't change them from being 10 lanes
likewise in ABIA currently there ABA-ph road, and Enugu-ph road are being expanded to 10 superlanes(although I hard the Aba-ph will be reduced to six or 8 due to property of people being destroyed) but the Enugu-ph is rapidly expand to 10 lanes an it's every large stretch

ChimaAdeoye:
The main reason this airport stands out is that Obiano did not build it with the poverty mentality of an average south east governor to make it cost N10 naira so that he could claim he saved N10 billion for the state.

Obiano built the airport with the determination to make it a truly international airport that airlines and pilots from developed countries will have same class of facilities and runway length. The determination to make it to truly meet international standards and have a lot of room to grow in the future is what will make Obiano and this project be remembered forever. Umahi is another governor that likes doing high quality projects that meet international standards.

I just hope those working on the Anambra airport car park do not make it too close to the terminal building. The road separating the terminal building and car park is usually about 4 lanes wide. This allows for cars to drop off people behind the terminal building in DROP OFF LANES without holding up traffic on the road. I'm sure Obiano himself would aleeady notice that every US airport has DROP OFF LANES behind the airport.

If they also create a designated PICK UP area so that new arrivals can stand or sit under the canopy there and wait for Uber and strictly commercial transportation to pick them up, that would be great in keeping the airport organized with smooth flow of traffic as airports in developed countries. Every little organizational measure should be done to prevent this airport from resembling the chaos and disarray seen in typical Nigerian airports.

Obi did well and Obiano has up the game by not only replicating what Obi did with Onitsha superhighway in Awka, but he has gone ahead to build other signature infrastructures like the international airport, ICC, Stadium,
etc. The next governor will take us a notch higher. That way Anambra will continue to lead and win to your envy and frustration. cheesy

Anambra State Govt Intensifies Measures To Join League Of Oil Producing States
By absradiotv.com

Anambra State Government is working assiduously to ensure that it joins the league of oil producing states in Nigeria through its engagements with some petroleum companies operating in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who interacted with ABS Abuja Bureau Chief, Ekwi Ajide at the FCT recently, disclosed that though it is not common knowledge, there are two oil companies operating in the state and government is not resting on its oars to utilize the opportunity.

According to Professor Chukwulobelu, the two companies have been exploring oil at Anambra-Orient oil, domiciled at Anambra East and West and Sypro in Ogwuikpele and Ogwuaniocha Communities, Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Sypro Petroleum, according to the SSG commenced mining and excavation in the state in 2013 without the knowledge of the state government, which only discovered their activities in 2017 through a disagreement between them and the communities.

He said the Anambra State Oil and Gas Development Committee had since then been following the activities of the company and noticed that it has done a lot without the knowledge of the government, hence, the petition to the Senate Committee On Oil and Gas, who on arrival, were upset at what they unraveled.

Professor Chukwulobelu, said that there are indications that these efforts are not in vain as the governor also wrote to the presidency, who set up a presidential committee to look into the matter and they too, were shocked by what they saw.

He said that having seen that Anambra State was determined on making them observe due process, the company come back to the discussion table were Anambra State among other things demanded proper Environmental Impact Assessment before operations, signing of a proper Memorandum of Understanding with the communities and presentation of their operating license to enable the state to apply for inclusion into oil producing states with the benefits thereof.

On the reasons for the visit, Professor Chukwulobelu, said he came for the renovation and refurbishing of Anambra House, which the previous government graciously donated to the United Nation when their house got razed by fire eight years ago.

While noting that the job would be officially handed over after the Easter, Professor Chukwulobelu unveiled that a major Chinese company will be coming into Anambra State for majorl production of dairy

post=100489759:
ADDRESS BY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE, CHIEF WILLIE OBIANO ON 4TH APRIL 2021.

My dear Ndi Anambra and all residents in our dear State, I wish to address you all this Sunday afternoon and felicitate with you and your families as you celebrate the holy Easter.

I pray that the spirit of the season will permeate our hearts and engender love, peace and tranquility in our daily lives, now and in the future.

I have chosen this moment to address the State since the unfortunate incident at Isuofia on the 31st of March 2021, wherein a town hall meeting involving Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo and youths of the town was disrupted by armed men, killing three policemen in the process.

The gunmen also abducted the State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Hon Emeka Ezenwanne.

Since the incident and in our usual characteristics, the State security architecture had exerted an extensive effort to ensure the safety of the Commissioner who eventually returned home in the early hours of today, 4th April 2021.

As you must already know, one of the attackers was gunned down on the spot on that day while five(5) others were arrested afterwards by the security agencies. Our efforts to the glory of God, have proved not to be in vain!

I am therefore happy to announce that the Hon. Commissioner is unhurt, very stable and in good physical and mental condition. No ransom was demanded and none paid for his release.

I have also met with him and im reassured that he is ready to resume duties.

Let me now use this opportunity to thank all the security agencies and other critical stakeholders who played one role or the other in our collective effort to free Hon Emeka. The State Government immensely appreciates you all.

To the family of the Hon Commissioner, nuclear and extended, the Soludo family and all friends who faced the trauma of not knowing his fate these past few days, I ask that we be grateful to God for the Easter gift of his safe return.

To the families of the slain Police officers, my heart once again, goes out to you. I share in your grief and mourn with you. While I pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased, please be assured that the State Government will not abandon you.

I must now condemn in its entirety, the violence that is erupting in our dear State and the continued targetting and killing of security forces working here.

This tendency portends grave danger for the peace and security we have worked so hard to entrench in our dear State. The aftermath of the Endsars protests is still fresh in our minds with the obvious rise in crime rates following a lull in security activities. A repeat of this, we must not allow!

For this singular reason and in the interest of our collective safety, I hereby urge all stakeholders at all levels of society to call for a stoppage of all forms of aggression against the Police and security agencies in Anambra State.

As a Government, we remain committed to the safety and security of all living and doing business in the State and we will do our utmost best to ensure the safety of all.

I urge the Police, Military and other security agencies in the State to continue to do their duties exceptionally, professionally and in line with the law.

Also, as politics and its activities manifest in our State in the months ahead, let me urge all actors and participants to eschew violence and be mature in all dealings. Our State is on a consistent rise to greatness and we all have a duty to ensure it doesn't derail as a result of political bitterness.

I have been fully briefed by the Security agencies and I wish to reassure the public that the Police and relevant agencies are continuing investigations into the Isuofia incident and will not relent until the perpetrators are brought to book.

God bless Anambra, the Light of the Nation,
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Happy Easter holidays to all our people home and abroad.

Chief (Dr)Willie Obiano, FCA.

Governor of Anambra State

May not be captured". An assumption based on what? I thought you said this is not a beer parlour? Anambra best ranking is in the "services" industry. What services do you think puts Anambra so high in services apart from trading and commerce? Tourism? ;Ogun generates far more in taxes because the organized private sector pay their taxes while traders in the informal sector are tax dodgers. You either have to acknowledge that Ogun state generate far more income because they cultivate a more conventional business environment that attracts well-structured organizations and skilled workers who understand their civic obligations, or acknowledge the Anambra government as woefully inept and clueless about proper business regulation and revenue generation. Either way, the facts are still the facts that Anambra lags far behind Ogun in revenue generation. Ogun competes with Rivers in IGR for 2nd place after Lagos. Anambra gets beaten even by states like Cross River and Kogi.Again, debt is a function of fiscal responsibility. Ogun plunged itself into debt cos it had a bloated state civil service and spent beyond its means on capital projects. Debt has nothing to do with being a big state or small state. I don't see how that is relevant. You can ridicule Ogun for mismanagement and misappropriation, but it has no relevance to their revenue generation.

Obi1kenobi:
Oh, so it's not just GDP matter. There is "oil gdp"? Your comments correlating GDP and employment did not make any exceptions for "oil GDP". So the claim was unnuanced bullshit. Which was why I told you your "common sense" was not actually sensible. You want "stats" to back up my claim about underemployment and unemployment being favorably skewed to self-employed traders in the informal sector, yet, you want to escape your own contradiction without stats or data by rambling about "oil GDP". Ogun state needing an FG bailout is irrelevant from the demonstrable fact that the state government generates far more in revenue from its state economy than Anambra. Big countries and multinational mega firms have been bailed out. During the US financial crisis of the mid to late 00's, big automakers, banks, mortgage firms etc got bailouts from the US government when small businesses couldn't get them. Many small states didn't get any bailout so the bailout has nothing to do with being a big state or small state. Ogun state was fiscally irresponsible and got itself into debt. That doesn't have any relevance with the fact they generate far more in IGR than Anambra. And that is a fact.
