Federal, states and local government councils on Friday shared N681.33billion as revenue allocation for March.

The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) disclosed this in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting in Abuja.

According to the committee, N154billion was transferred to the non-oil revenue savings while the balance in the Excess Crude Account (ECA) was $72.413 million.

The gross statutory revenue for the month was N466.687billion, Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue was N181.712billion and Exchange Gain was N2.931billion.

The sum of N30billion was added as augmentation, bringing the total distributable revenue to N681.33billion.

Stephanie Frappart will becomes first woman to officiate at men’s European Championships

Stephanie Frappart will become the first female official to officiate at a men's European Championships this summer after UEFA confirmed the list of referees for this year's tournament.

The female referee will be involved as a support match official, working either as a fourth official or a reserve assistant referee at the tournament.

In the past two years, Frappart became the first female to referee a Ligue 1 match, a Champions League match, and a World Cup qualifier.

Frappart oversaw the Netherlands' 2-0 win over Latvia in March, becoming the first woman to referee a men's World Cup Qualifier.

A bill seeking to create a database for cows is currently being considered on the floor of the senate.

The bill for an Act to ‘establish national livestock and management (protection, control and management etc) bureau’ is being sponsored by Bima Enagi (APC, Niger South) and it scaled a second reading on Tuesday April 20.

The legislation is aimed at solving the challenge of animal identification and management by establishing the National Livestock Bureau for the purpose of livestock identification, traceability, registration, cattle rustling control and livestock disease control.

Enagi who stated that Nigeria has been unable to participate in the export of meat and other dietary product due to the absence of a management system, said the bill intends to indicate ownership and prevent rustling as well as collate genetic information on animals, and improve the ability to trace animals.

Chad's President Idriss Déby has died suddenly in clashes with rebels in the north of the country at the weekend, the army has said on state TV.

On Monday, provisional results from the election on 11 April projected he would win a sixth term in office, with 80% of the vote.

The government and parliament have been dissolved. A military council will govern for the next 18 months.

Mr Déby was one of Africa's longest-serving leaders.

He first came to power in an armed uprising in 1990.

He had gone to the front line at the weekend to visit troops battling rebels based across the border in Libya.

A report asserts that the iPhone 14 series won’t include a 5.4-inch screen sized phone and the iPhone 13 series will be the last lineup to offer the same screen that the iPhone 12 mini has.

The 2022 Apple iPhones might come with a new camera setup, according to well known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He states in a new report that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature a 48MP primary camera, which will be a big upgrade over the 12MP sensors that are used by the existing iPhone 12 series phones.

A report by 9to5Mac, which is based on Kuo’s note, asserts that the iPhone 14 series won’t include a 5.4-inch screen sized phone and that the iPhone 13 series will be the last lineup to offer this screen size. Currently, the iPhone 12 mini has a 5.4-inch screen.

Prophet T.B Joshua's YouTube account has been suspended over some videos shared on the channel.

Premium Times had reported that between 2016 and January 2020, the channel posted at least seven clips showing the charismatic Christian televangelist engaging in violent exorcism to ‘cure’ gay and lesbian congregants of their sexual orientation by casting out “the demon of homosexuality”.

YouTube suspended the channel which had more than 1.8 million subscribers on April 12, after openDemocracy contacted it to ask whether some of the contents violated the platform’s community guidelines.

A woman took to Twitter to show the horrific injuries inflicted on her brother while he was working at a wedding in Lagos state.

She said her brother, a caterer in charge of small chops at a wedding, was allegedly attacked by younger brothers of the groom because he told them to go and sit down before he’ll serve them small chops.

The attack left her brother with deep cuts on his scalp and the wounds had to be stitched.

She said the case was reported to the police but “what the police could say is its the case of the rich that we should drop it”.

She added: “Please, we need justice!”

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has called off its 9-day old strike.

The resident doctors reached the decision to end the strike at a virtual National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which ended on Saturday evening, April 10.

Confirming the suspension to newsmen, the President of NARD, Dr. Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi said the association had resolved to resume work following positive consideration of the agreement reached with the federal government at their meeting that held on Friday, April 9. He said all house officers who are yet to be paid will be paid on Monday, April 12.

Okhuaihesuyi said the strike has been suspended for one month and that doctors working in isolation centres will resume at 8am on Sunday, April 11 while resident doctors in other hospitals will resume for work on Monday, April 12.

Despite the Central Bank of Nigeria warning to banks on staff lay-off, eight lenders in the country sacked at least 3,754 workers last year, Ripples Nigeria reports.

The CBN had in May last year warned banks against the sack of employees as speculation of mass retrenchment in the sector made the round following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

In a statement titled: “CBN, Bankers’ Committee Suspend Staff Lay-Offs in Banks,” the bank ordered the immediate suspension of such plans.

Argentina’s President Alberto Fernandez, who has been vaccinated against COVID-19, announced late Friday that he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

“At the end of today, after presenting a fever of 37.3 and a slight headache, I performed an antigen test, which was positive,” he tweeted, adding he was waiting for the results of a PCR test to confirm the diagnosis.

The president, who turned 62 on Friday, was in isolation as a precaution but said he was “physically well.”

“Although I would have liked to end my birthday without this news, I am also in good spirits,” he said.
