Mental HCA is band 3…. In Scotland

It's in England.

What kind of job is it? Is it an HCA role because I know that HCAs are sometimes sponsored at Band 2? Is it on the shortage occupation list? Why is the person not looking for jobs with higher banding now or after spending a few months in this role if the person is just trying to get NHS experience? It is very easy to get stuck at lower bands with low pay in the NHS if desperate. Aside sponsorship, will the person be willing to remain stuck at that level for a while as it can be sometimes difficult to move up bands in the NHS if the current role doesn't give much room to take higher- level responsibilities?

Hi Mimi, the role is mental health care assistant. I believe he wants the sponsorship so he can start counting down to ILR.

He likes the job, it's close to his home, there's a possibility of sponsorship if the line manager likes his work, so why not take the job and start working out how to get the manager to endorse him? He's not tied to the job, while there, he can continue to look for other options incase this one fails before that time. Mid next year is 6months away, that's enough time to get his/her ducks in a row. By the 3-4month, the manager should know if they want to keep him/her, the manager might even sponsor because they don't want to go through the hassle of another recruitment and training process with a new starter.

Thank you for this advice.

Unless you have some clinical skills & possible band 3 prospects, forget about sponsorship.

Are you saying nhs doesn't sponsor at band 2?

mimilyrics:
I don't think so going by the information on gov.uk. Link below. The jobs that can be sponsored as band 4 and below do not include admin jobs except the pay is above 25,600. Getting above 25,600 as a band 4 admin means that the person is at the top pay point which is usually attainable only after some years within the NHS.
Also, someone on a student visa who got a job of less than £25,600 will only be sponsored if they quote the attached screenshot as many NHS recruiting managers will not sponsor except you are able to provide proof from the gov.uk site. Not many people get to the stage where they are able to show that.
NHS Payscales: https://www.nhsemployers.org/articles/pay-scales-202223
[b]Information on eligible sponsored professions inclusive of Bands 3 and 4

Hi Mimi, someone I know got an offer with a particular trust, band 2 but 10.10£ per hour. He tried to ask for sponsorship but the Hr said they don't sponsor unless his line manager endorses him. He is yet to start the job but his tier 4 visa expires mid next year. He is keen on this job because it's a stone throw to his accommodation and he is not planning on moving anywhere else for now. Any advice regarding sponsorship?

Cc rayralph, everyone with any pointers.

Thank you

I honestly would not know if school taxi is deemed public funds, but using my mind (whilst intoxicated), I would say it's taxpayers funds.........

Those in the school that advised you, don't fully understand the complexities of immigration regulations...........

If in doubt, get an immigration lawyers opinion or someone with a similar issue............

Thanks Chief

I followed the conversation about council properties.......

I think the matter eventually went down the jurisdiction route...... It seems UK and Scotland have different rules........ I run away from such discussions, because I am now very stale in immigration matters......

No recourse to public funds, is an all encompassing rule.......

Oga Lexus, please will using home to school taxi in Kent mean I'm using public funds? My daughter's school recommended it and I just recently applied for next session. I contacted Kent county council and told them I'm an international Msc student exempted from paying council tax but I was encouraged to apply that as long as my daughter's school is more than a specific distance she is eligible for the free taxi.

I hope I'm still on track

thats the challenge my dear. When other parents are not keen to relate with you. Even when the kids know each other, the parent will not be interested especially if you are from another race. Well overall english culture is very hard especially their negative politeness culture.

It is well. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Its a relief to know you aren't going through a situation alone

you did well. I can take away from what you said is to find naija kids. I used to chat with parents from other races in my kid's former school but I discovered that they relate with you based on their own terms. So I mind my business now. Thank you for your take.

In my own case my 5 year old daughter is the selective one, she does have a friend in school a white boy but when I pick her up from the school's minibus her other classmates greet her. But some of the parents mind their business. Now I'm wondering how to encourage my daughter to have more friends when I am not exactly relating with their parents. Hmmmm

Hi Mimilyrics, can working 3months + qualify?

Working for a CQC registered care home should make one eligible, I think. What is on the home office page is if you work for the NHS or CQC. You can read annexe A which is available on the home office website to check eligibility.

Thanks a lot.

Yes it is possible. You apply after working for 6months with the NHS trust, you would need to submit your 6months payslip along your application. You can also apply for your dependant(s), if any.

hi,please is it only NHS? what of CQC registered care home?

Its called concession on longer settlement, its meant to come into force in a month or so, you can check it out via google as well. I was even told about it by my wife's midwife before I ran into this material. I stand to be corrected tho, kindly give insights if this is false (which I doubt it is). A deep research if you deem fit, will be necessary.

But giffgaff is safe....... At one point or another, provider's servers gets hacked/breached..........

Living in a database society, your data must be out there........ Leaving your data behind, leaves you behind...... cheesy

thanks for your advice.

Most of us didn’t know. Until you get here and realize the system is very very different and mostly more laid back. The good thing is they learn sha, just that you have to keep a close eye.

Yes we definitely have to keep a close eye on our children.
Thank you Mama for starting this thread...learning loads of good stuff from here.

Hi, is it number bond or just 1-20? I noticed that atimes some state schools are a bit laid back and some teachers, when you ask about general progress of your child, they usually give generic response that the child is where he should be. Try to listen to your gut feeling, go through the curriculum for that term and assess your child on that. Teaching here is individualised.

Hi Mama,

If I could add to this. My daughter is in reception and when she resumed first of March she found the whole curriculum routine very strange. The next week her teacher called to make some observations about her tights and that she struggles to follow instructions. I was very bothered and so I requested that she gives me weekly update on my daughter as she is new in this country and educational system.

Her teacher started a school+home diary where she writes what my daughter does in school and I get to see how she does. She also attached a copy of their timetable. When I saw it I was surprised! They have like 10-13 activities for the day, spend 10-15minutes per activity. Say they start with reading a book, maybe when the story is getting interesting they will now say its time for maths. My daughter will now say she doesn't want to do math she wants to continue with the story reading. And so on.

But I'm glad she has adjusted as that was her achievement for the term, 'A has really improved and now follows instructions very well'. I didn't know when I got here I will have to pay extra attention to her school work.

You can also check Primark - they have some durable ones which is especially good for all those their rough plays.
If I remember correctly, it costs about £4 for a pack.

Thank you Mimilyrics.
