magnum247: Please I want to know how you preserve yours or do you finish it all at once cause mine gets sour after barely 24hours of making it even when I refrigerate Tiger nuts is a make and drink up juice. If we can't finish up that day I put the remainder in a very cold fridge and drink up the next day. Freezing is also not an option as it tampers with the health benefits of tiger nut. Tiger nut is sensitive so I refrigerate all the washed ingredients and sieve out with cold water before transferring back into the fridge. I will advise you make small portions per time. Thank you. |

donpata: Nice drink. I wish I can always have this "kunun Aya". The major problem with it though is that you need stable power to store it and keep it refrigerated. Just one to three hours of warm temperatures and it turns to "draw soup". Well done op Its supposed to be make and drink up. I can manage to keep mine till the next day in a very cold fridge and not freezer. |

Klass99:
While I like animals (not all of them) and love to treat them well, how can you just give away the shaft without trying it first to get a feel of what it tastes like?
Do you need yoghurt in this drink? My yoghurt reference was just that - a reference. But, yoghurt sounds like it will make it creamier and tastier, I will try it. My blender grinds it to powder till there's nothing left of the chaff though. But yogurt go make sense when the juice is still in it. I will try it too. |

Klass99: What did you do with the blended shaft? I'm thinking it would have been nice as a cold snack, like ice cream or habib yoghurt you can take while watching TV.
I like that your video was straight to the point and under 10 minutes, lengthy videos can cause one to lose their attention span. So, keep them short and simple like you did here. Usually I feed the shaft to the chickens I have not tried it with yogurt yet. I will give it a try though. Thank you for your kind feedback. |

etrange: And I'm talking about both you and those people you met in that market. I'm telling y'all there's nothing like African salad. Salads are made of vegetables and sometimes, fruits. You don't just call something a salad for the fun of it.
Besides, how can you say Abacha is known as African salad in the market? It's known as Africa salad by who exactly? Igbo people in the market? Where? Where is this market? Where did you grow up? I'm not being sarcastic here. I'm sincerely surprised that someone that eats abacha grew up knowing it with a different name.
Dear, abacha is abacha. Igbos eat Abacha. They are mostly the ones that buy and sell abacha. In what context would an Igbo man call his abacha a salad if not in a bid to sound western? Even if some people call it that, it doesn't make it right. An educated person should know what a salad is.
No offense intended, your abacha looks delicious. Your corrections are noted. |

Ulunne777: Ngu is the ash gotten from burnt palmfrond. It is used as thickner for the sauce. It is different from Ugu which is vegetable. Ngu is used in place of potash which is unhealthy and the reason a lot of ppl get stomach aches from eating Abacha. It is also a food tenderizer.Foods like the beans family which take time to cook get done quickly when you add them to it You are inspirational, thank you again. |

etrange: Abacha is not even a salad by definition. Even if it were, that name "African salad" is dumb and myopic. Y'all didn't even call it "Nigerian salad" but "African salad", yet the vast majority of people in Africa don't even know what that is. How many continental dishes have "European" as part of the name? Abacha is eaten in South Eastern Nigeria. It is not African anything. It is simply Abacha. Just like many French, Italian and Spanish dishes, it does not need an English name. The native native name tells its story. It'll lose its identity without it. I'm sure it was one teenager that playfully called the starchy food a salad, and instead of the adults to correct them, y'all happily adopted the ridiculous name cause you want to be more western than the westerners.
That said, OP that looks delicious! Its known as African Salad even in the market where the prepared one is being sold. African Salad is one name I grew up knowing Abacha with. No be me name am. |

phemmyfour: it doesn't exist Ngu is gotten from palm trees. Its used as thickner and softener depending on what you want to use it for. |
