USA to Quit Olympics Over Zika


United States Olympic Committee has warned that it's athletes and staff should consider not going for the Rio Olympics if they are concerned over the Zika virus.

The message was delivered to various US Sport Federations according to sources. This briefing to US sports persons is the latest indication that the Zika virus poses a considerable risk to the Olympics.

USA are one of the strongest teams in the Olympic games and any disruption to it's participation will take the sheen off the sporting extravaganza. Mosquito-borne Zika virus has caused various cases of a birth defect marked by an abnormally small head in Brazil.

As a result, the World Health Organization declared an international health emergency on Feb 1st. Will Rio bear the brunt of Zika? Will other countries follow suit and make a similar recommendation?

Hugh Jackman, the Wolverine, had a growth of skin cancer removed on his nose for the fifth time and said it’s all because he didn't wear sunscreen when he was a child in the hot Australian sun. On Monday, Jackman posted a selfie online with his nose bandaged after a growth of skin became cancerous and was removed.

He wrote, “An example of what happens when you don't wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless. PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups.”

Jackman had basal cell skin cancer, which is the most common form of skin cancer affecting 90% of US skin cancer patients and doesn’t usually spread, but it’s worth removing as it could damage cells around it.

Chelsea has confirmed that Kurt Zouma is out for the rest of the season after injuring his right anterior cruciate knee ligament during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Manchester United.


The Frenchman landed awkwardly during the clash at Stamford Bridge and had to be carried off on a stretcher.

Zouma confirmed via Twitter that he had suffered ligament damage and Chelsea later revealed he faces 6 months once surgery has been completed in the coming days.


"Kurt will undergo surgery in the next 48 hours and is expected to be out for approximately 6 months," a statement on Monday confirmed. The young defender is also set to miss the Euros in France, which begin on June 10,

Chelsea's defender Kurt Zouma suffered a critical knee injury during the 2nd half of the match at the Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Zouma's cries of pain and the way he was injured - his knee was bent backwards as he landed awkwardly on his leg - suggests that he might face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Meaning the young Frenchman might be out for the season and even miss out on Euro 2016 this summer on home soil France.


Hiddink told reporters after the game about the defender's condition, and stated that he will undergo tests on Monday.

"He will have an MRI scan tomorrow. If you see the images it is hyperextension, let us wait and hope", he said.

Tough Match: Full Time Review: Chelsea 1-1 Manchester United


Louis van Gaal will be cursing his luck for not holding on to a goal lead and allowing Chelsea to equalise in injury time. This will represent 2 points lost for the Red Devils in their bid for Champions League qualification.

United started the second half brightly after an even first half. Rooney & Martial drew a sharp double save from Courtois early on before Zouma got injured for Chelsea. Lingard gave United the lead 2minutes later after an instinctive turn and finish into the top corner.

It looked like United would hold on for 3 points until a Blind slip allowed Costa to go through and score despite seeing his initial effort getting blocked.

De Gea had to be at his best to save from Costa in the next minute as the game finished in a draw. It was a deserved result but at the end Chelsea would be happier.
