A mid aged man in Benue State stole a bike on the of Christmas, he stopped a bike and told him to take him to his house, at the point of transporting him to his destination he told the bike man to come down because of the bad road, so when the bike man jumped out of the bike he kicked the bike and ran away with it.

The owner of the bike started shouting barawo(Thief) then the people around started chasing him Until he was caught and beating to stupor by angry mobs.


He was nearly lynched by some bike men if not for the timely intervention of the Youth President.
He was later handed over the men of Nigerian police force to investigate the matter.

Governor Wike urged Nigerians to draw strength and inspiration from the birth of Jesus Christ, while rededicating themselves to the values of selfless service and the pursuit of the common good.

Governor Wike said that for Christians, the birth of Jesus Christ was not a mere biological incident, but that ‘Christmas represents a moment for spiritual and moral renewal in the lives of individuals and communities around the world.’

Reflecting on the special meaning that Christmas holds for leaders, governor Wike said: ‘We can use the spirit of Christmas to heal the wounds of acrimony and division, by working together for the benefit of all our people, leaving no citizen or community behind.'

In the same vein, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara, has felicitated with Christians on the occasion of the marking of the birth of Jesus Christ.

In a statement issuesld by his Special Adviser on Media & Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, the speaker urged Christian to walk in Christ's footsteps of love and peace towards one another, their neigbours and to humanity as a whole.

Dogara noted that faithful adherence to the virtues of Jesus Christ, including love, unity, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence, which constitute the fundamental ingredients for development of any nation, will lead to the growth and stability of Nigeria.


He admonished Christians to use this period as one for sober reflection on the a cute challenges facing the nation and to see how they could apply the virtues of Jesus Christ in fashioning out workable measures aimed at pulling Nigeria out of the quagmire she has found herself in at this critical time.

While wishing everyone a happy celebration, Dogara assured Nigerians that the House of Representatives is working tirelessly to ensure that the promises in the Change Agenda are delivered for the benefit of all Nigerians in the shortest possible time.

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Thursday, December 22, foiled a robbery attempt at a new generation bank and arrested three robbers after a deadly gun duel.

A Press Release signed by DSP Omoni Nnamdi, Police Public Relations Officer, says a combined team of Special Ant-Robbery Squad and policemen from Rumuolumeni Police, acting on a tip-off stormed the new generation bank and arrested the suspects, who came with gas cylinder, chisel, handsaw, for the operation. Read it below.


"Efforts of the Rivers State Police Command in fighting crime and criminality in the state have again yielded positive result as today 22/12/2016 at about 0200hrs upon a distress call, that there was a robbery going on in a New Generation Bank at Eagle Cement Rumuolumeni, combined teams of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and the men of the Rumuolumeni Police Station led by the DPO Csp Felix Nnebue swiftly responded and mobilized to the scene, where on citing the Police the robbers opened fire on them resulting in an exchange of gunfire at the end of which three of the Armed Robbers were arrested. While one of the SARS operatives sustained gunshot wound. He is currently receiving treatment in the Hospital.
The armed robbers arrested are :

1. Samuel Nwara ‘m’ 28 yrs of Igwuruta town.
2. Kaaly Taagaba ‘m’ 28yrs of Kpong Khana LGA.
3. Luky Ukwuoma ‘m’ 26yrs of Etche LGA.
Items recovered from them include;
1. One cooking gas cylinder
2. One handsaw
3. One chisel
4. Two Ghana must go bags

"They are helping the Police in the Investigation as efforts are on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and recover their operational weapons.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Francis M. Odesanya wishes to assure the good people of the State that the Command under his watch has vowed to relentlessly fight all manner of Crimes in the State. He promises to make Rivers state safer especially during the yuletide period. He therefore urges the public to have confidence in the Police and continue to share information with the Police"

Nigerian death row convict, Chijoke Stephen Obioha was executed in Singapore early this morning, after the Court of Appeal dismissed an Urgent Criminal Motion filed by his lawyer, Mr Joseph Chen, yesterday.

The Singapore Anti-Death Penalty Campaign member, Mr Ravi, who is assisting Mr Joseph with the research for the case, took to his Facebook page an hour ago to announce the news.


"This morning, at 6am, the execution of Chijioke Stephen Obioha took place. I am not even sure if his family from Nigeria were able to attend. Soon it will be all forgotten together with Chijioke’s name, but for the many of us who fight and campaign to eradicate this barbaric practice of death by hanging, and for those of us who challenge the mandatory death penalty for drug trafficking in Singapore, our work will go on. And it must."


"Update: I'm currently arranging with the Roman Catholic Prison Ministry ( RCPM) to claim the body of Chijioke from the Singapore Prisons Service for a proper funeral in accordance with his religious beliefs.The funeral will take place either today or tomorrow depending on how soon the SPS could release the body.

Chijoke was first arrested in 2007 and sentenced to the Mandatory Death Penalty in 2008 after being found guilty of trafficking more than 2kg of Cannabis. His execution tomorrow will bring and end to possibly the longest delay between sentencing and execution. Chijoke has spent almost 8 years on death row and more than 9 years behind bars.

Chijioke Obioha was arrested on April 9th 2007 with 2,604.56 grammes of cannabis in Singapore. He was charged, found guilty and sentenced to death in November 2008. Under Singaporean law, trafficking more than 500 grammes of cannabis attracts the death penalty.

His execution has been scheduled for Friday November 18th except the president of the country decides to forgive him.
