Politics / The Consequences The "boko Haram's" Activities On The Nigerian Economy! by glowithdan(m): 8:41am On Jul 09, 2011
Boko Haram- an egg in the incubator waiting to become a chick. For now, the Nigerian state only perspectice' the activities of men and women of this group, thus forgetting what it will look like when foreign investors starts folding up their mats for an exodus exit.

No doubt, there is no cause without a reason; it's high time the Federal Government tried another method of dealing with this situation before it sink the nation economically- because politically, the nation after many years of independence has nothing to show for it, and still on the wrong path on her quest to seeking for solution.

The earlier the issued is looked into, the better for the nation. And if Nigeria learn from history, she should visit her library again and read the histories of regional strives and conflict in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and its surrounding nations. It all started like this, and has gradually become a war zone; which only recently, the world most wanted man was discovered and killed in one of these countries.

At least, if not for the poor masses that die on daily basis due to the activities of these men and women (Boko Haram), the crooks in power should find a way of protecting their source of looting, because such activities, will definitely lead to a dearth of their ill gotten wealth sooner or later!!

Business / Re: Caution To All Importers! by glowithdan(m): 7:16am On Jul 07, 2011
@ all: Thanks for your concern!
I have always known the activities of the wharf rats in Lagos, thus the bus was properly secured ( weldded at every angle here in the UK before exported); but never known the antics of these boys has gone these far as breaking off a whole back glass of a Van, just to steal.

I begin to wonder where the courage comes from in defending one's country's image abroad, when things like this happens to crusaders like us,
It's really a pity, such things still happen under the very nose of government officials. The country I believe still have a very long way to go!

@ Anada:I will advice you ply your trade elsewhere, becouse I won't blink an eye in hunting and putting you behind bars for years! Be careful.

Business / Caution To All Importers! by glowithdan(m): 4:31pm On Jul 06, 2011
wharf rats they call them, but to me the devil's workshop they are! What on Earth should be the explanation of breaking the glass someone's van (bus), just to steal some some products?
This happened to me only recently (last week); the back glass was totally broken off, and about 25 pieces of the product (LCD and PLASMA all the way from the United Kingdom) stolen. Side mirror removed, and the ignition key totally destroyed!

What on earth could be the reason for this unkind attitude towards a fellow human? The products are misunderstood be gotten at cheap prices here (UK), which is far from the truth.

I weep for the country, because nothing seems to be working in her favour! I advice, the house to learn from my lesson and avoid such mistake ( or what ever it may be called).

97% of MSc graduates in the UK still finds it difficult to cope with the economic situation here, while some hit at it once and gain stability! It has always been a story of different folks and different stories, I would love to offer a simple way out, or rather, call it an advice!

The Nigerian Haulage Business, is my next escape route now.
permit my personal story. Before now, as a master's student in the UK, I have utilized every single opportunity that comes my way, in that, I have involved myself in the electronics business which has given me an insight into other areas of making use of the post-study visa (which has eventually met it's Waterloo, come April next year).

The transport business in Nigeria is another option- If one can gather enough cash, get a bus or truck and lease it out. While it makes returns for you every month, you can still run around, looking for a career job, thus, removing the boarding, stress and tension of survival!!

On a personal note, there is no need staying back for those "gradual life killing jobs" which are not easily available, thus wasting your time, instead of facing reality.
It's a pity things has turn out this bad (UK), with the present economic brouhaha, but that should not keep one back, neither the shame of facing the reality of life back home- It's batter now, than letter.

On a personal note once more, It's better to leave now, which makes it easier in case a return in the future is required, because the system takes record of your productiveness while in the UK (for post study visa holders).

Life is all about planing, and planing, we as humans will continue doing.
Sharing your fears, ideas and goals with like minded people is another way of reducing the stress and boarding of the economic situation here in the UK!!

Enough of the talking, it's time for my planing back home for my wedding, and my staying back only to return for personal business again!

The post study visa of two years is just like two months, make use of it!!
Education / Re: Best School For Masters Degree In The UK? by glowithdan(m): 11:07am On May 30, 2011
, Why not try the US!

Writing from experience, I don't think it's wise to spend one pound here, when you are not sure of making that money back during and after your studies; neither will you get the needed career which you seek out to pursue in the first place.

As it stands now, the UK government no longer give the normal 2 years post study visa, which makes it almost impossible to make a meaning out of your life after your studies here!

Research the US or Canada, if not sure, invest your money into the Nigerian system, while you do your master's in one of the Nigerian Universities.

That is my candid advice!!
Travel / The Life Of An Ordinary Nigerian Student In The United Kingdom by glowithdan(m): 10:30am On May 30, 2011
Going with the hope of achieving and hiding under the quest of a better education to flee the seemingly doomed economics situation back in Nigeria, only to be hit by the reality of life abroad (UK); many till date rather find it almost impossible to contemplate coming back home, even after studies.

The global economic situation has forced even the citizens of this country out of jobs, or else do one explain the hope of a foreigner?
Statistics has it that, more than 70 percent of Nigerians that graduated from the UK universities in 2007, with expired visa's are still in the country doing nothing meaningful to themselves or or their country of domicile.

As from April, 2011, the UK government will abolish the post study visa (2 years) they give to graduates after the completion of their studies to work, or try fix in into the system (of which presently, there is no system to fit into).

One may then ask, why the rush to abroad to study, when tuition fees alone runs nothing less than 11,500 to 26,000 pounds as the case may be? This piece of information is not to lure you back from following your dreams, but serve as a mirror of what is obtainable here in the United Kingdom.

A word is enough for the wise!!

, not all women will eventually become a wife material, as not all men can be called "men" in the quoting!

My brother, you are quite lucky to have noticed this before settling down with her. But, come to think of it, what actually attracted you to her in the first place?
Don't tell me you never noticed this characters during courtship; or is it because the new situation you find your self (which involve the spending of your own money) that opened your eyes?

To be frank, you can tell that to every one here, you noticed these "childish behaviours" only recently. But to me, it has been there right from the unset; either you were too blind to see it, or immature to read the hand writing on the wall.

Its a fact that you are reaping what you sow, I still sympathise with your situation. I would rather advice you to involve the parents of the lady involved, before it's too late! Mind you, this is not friendship, but marriage!!

All the best,
