(CNN)The mother accused of fatally stabbing four of her children and their father appeared to pray, smiled and gave a thumbs-up to cameras during a bizarre court appearance Friday in Georgia.

Isabel Martinez, 33, was arrested Thursday and accused of fatally stabbing her husband, Martin Romero, and four of her children, ranging in age from 1 to 10. A fifth child also was stabbed but survived. Daughter Diana Romero, who is 9, was in serious but stable condition at a children's hospital in Atlanta, police said.


Martinez appeared in court Friday to face five counts of murder, five counts of malice murder and six counts of aggravated assault.
Looking directly into the court camera, she repeatedly smiled and gave double thumbs-up signs. At various points, she spread her arms out wide, put her hands together as if in prayer and even left her seat to kneel on the ground.

Tracey Bolton, 39, was filmed straddling 31-year-old Shaun Edmondson, who left his heavily pregnant fiancee at home to go on a stag party.
Horrified passengers on board the flight to Ibiza looked on as the wild pair gyrated and Shaun asked holidaymakers for a condom.
Café owner Tracey, a mother of three, had been drinking at Manchester airport before romping with Shaun aboard the packed plane, friends claim.
Shocked passengers filmed the couple as they had moved back and forth in the Shaun's seat.


Tracey, from Colne, Lancashire, told a friend: 'I am absolutely mortified. What started as a bit of drunken madness has gone worldwide.
'I am horrified but absolutely nothing happened. I haven't stopped crying since I saw it. I am so embarrassed,' she added.
Friend Kirsty Lawton, also of Colne, told The Sun: 'Nothing really happened. She did a fully clothed lapdance for a laugh, no sexy time occurred.
'The pair of them were being daft and it was all for a laugh.
'They didn't know one another, as if you would do that with anyone let alone a stranger.'
Mr Edmonsdon has returned home following the stag do.
A family source told MailOnline: 'From what I understand, he was supposed to be back by now - and he might well be.
'But he has completely gone into hiding since this has all kicked off. He could still even be over there.
'Apparently none of his family, or his girlfriend have been able get in touch with him.
'He's gone absolutely AWOL. I don't believe it was actually his stag do, I think it was for one of his mates.'


Passengers watched as Ms Bolton clambered on top of Mr Edmondson and they began to gyrate an hour into the flight to the party island.
A friend said Mr Edmondson is known as a 'ladies' man' despite being engaged to fiancee 25-year-old Miss Ross.
'That's just a random woman he's with, they didn't know each other before the day,' the friend said.
'He doesn't seem to be too bothered he has left his six-months pregnant wife-to-be at home while he cavorts with random strangers.'
Mr Edmondson works as a chef at the upmarket Lyth Valley Country Inn in Kendal, a family pub which is owned by his relatives.
It is understood that Mr Edmondson's fiancee Miss Jenna, who is originally from Canada and has been with him for six years, is aware of the video.
Passenger Kieran Williams, 21, from Preston, Lancashire, said he was astonished to see their raunchy antics an hour into the flight on the budget airline.
'I heard them talking about it but I thought they were joking. The guy was shouting, 'Anyone got a jelly?' meaning condom.
'We all laughed but then ten minutes later they actually did it. They seemed so drunk, they brought a lot of attention to themselves.
'You could see the girl taking off her pants and he pulled his trousers off. She started riding him.
'I had to get my phone out. I have never seen anything like that.'

A female passenger who was sitting next to the couple asked to be moved.
However Mr Williams said that the crew did nothing to stop the pair or even reprimand them.
'A woman was sat next to them and she stood up and asked if she could be moved.
'About twenty minutes after it happened, someone complained about it. But the crew did nothing.'
Mr Williams, who was flying to Ibiza to work as a barman over the summer, said that the passengers were gobsmacked by the pair's raunchy antics.


He said: 'They were starting and stopping but it was completely obvious what was going on. We all had a good laugh about it. It was pretty funny.'
A Ryanair spokesman said: 'We are looking into this matter.
'We will not tolerate unruly, disruptive or inappropriate behaviour at any time and any passengers who appear to behave in an unacceptable manner may be liable for further sanctions.'

The pope has appointed an Nigeria priest to the role of apostolic nuncio to Ireland, for the first time.

The position of Apostolic Nuncio is the Vatican's diplomatic representative in Ireland. Pope Francis appointed 60-year-old Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo from Kano in Nigeria.

Archbishop Okolo is due to take up the role during the summer.

The leader of the Catholic Church in Ireland, Archbishop of Armagh Eamon Martin has welcomed the appointment.

He said his "rich experience in the diplomatic service of the Holy See" meant he brought "many gifts".

The outgoing papal nuncio to Ireland Charles Brown, will now move to Albania to take up a new diplomatic post.

Archbishop Okolo entered the priesthood in 1983. He served as an apostolic nuncio to the Central African Republic and Chad in 2008, and then as the Pope's diplomatic representative to the Dominican Republic in 2013.

The new papal nuncio worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See, in Sri Lanka, then went on to become a pontifical representative in Hati, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Australia and the Antillean Islands.

He speaks English, French, Italian, Igbo, Spanish and German.

Two associates of the Crips street gang busted in Irvington with more than 6 pounds of heroin were among more than 1,000 people arrested in the past six weeks as part of a nationwide anti-gang operation, federal authorities announced Thursday.

Pharmaceutical firm Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has been ordered by a US court to pay more than $110m (£85m) to a woman who says she developed ovarian cancer after using its talcum powder.

Lois Slemp, 62, from Virginia, Missouri said she developed the cancer after four decades of using talc products.

Prosecutors argued the company did not adequately warn about the cancer risks associated with the items.

Experts say links with ovarian cancer are unproven. J&J says it will appeal.

The verdict in a St Louis state court is the largest so far to arise out of about 2,400 lawsuits against J&J over its talc-based products, Reuters news agency reports.

Ms Slemp is currently undergoing chemotherapy after her ovarian cancer initially diagnosed in 2012 returned and spread to her liver.

She said the products she used included J&J's Baby Powder and Shower to Shower Powder.

"Once again we've shown that these companies ignored the scientific evidence and continue to deny their responsibilities to the women of America," said Ted Meadows, a lawyer for Ms Slemp.

An FBI translator with a top-secret security clearance traveled to Syria in 2014 and married a key ISIS operative she had been assigned to investigate, CNN has learned.

The rogue employee, Daniela Greene, lied to the FBI about where she was going and warned her new husband he was under investigation, according to federal court records.
Greene's saga, which has never been publicized, exposes an embarrassing breach of national security at the FBI—an agency that has made its mission rooting out ISIS sympathizers across the country.
It also raises questions about whether Greene received favorable treatment from Justice Department prosecutors who charged her with a relatively minor offense, then asked a judge to give her a reduced sentence in exchange for her cooperation, the details of which remain shrouded in court-ordered secrecy.

The man Greene married was no ordinary terrorist.
He was Denis Cuspert, a German rapper turned ISIS pitchman, whose growing influence as an online recruiter for violent jihadists had put him on the radar of counter-terrorism authorities on two continents.
In Germany, Cuspert went by the rap name Deso Dogg. In Syria, he was known as Abu Talha al-Almani. He praised Osama bin Laden in a song, threatened former President Barack Obama with a throat-cutting gesture and appeared in propaganda videos, including one in which he was holding a freshly severed human head.

Within weeks of marrying Cuspert, Greene, 38, seemed to realize she had made a terrible mistake. She fled back to the US, where she was immediately arrested and agreed to cooperate with authorities. A married couple in the US shockingly discovered that they were biological twins after getting a routine DNA test done at an IVF clinic because they were struggling to conceive naturally.

The couple, who met in college, had attended the clinic in Mississippi in the hope that it helps them have their own child.

A doctor at the clinic in Jackson, Mississippi, revealed the astonishing events and explained how the situation had come about.

"It's just a routine thing and we wouldn't normally check to see if there was a relationship between the two samples, but in this case the lab assistant involved was shocked by the similarity of each profile," the doctor told the Mississippi Herald.

"My first reaction was that they must have been less-closely related; perhaps they were first cousins, which happens sometimes. However, looking closer at samples, I noticed there were way too many similarities," said the doctor, who was not named by the daily.

The doctor consulted the patients' files and noted that both had the exact same birth dates listed in 1984. "With this in mind, I was convinced that both patients were fraternal twins," he said.

However, the doctor did not know if the couple were already aware of this or totally oblivious. When he brought up the issue at their next appointment, the doctor said they initially "burst out laughing" in disbelief.

"The husband said that a lot of people remarked on the fact they shared the same birthdays and looked similar to each other, but he said it was just a funny coincidence and that the couple were definitely not related," the doctor said.

"The wife kept pleading with me to admit I was joking, and I wish that I was, but they had to know the truth," the medic said.

After talking it through with the man and woman, the doctor was able to establish how this had all happened. The couple had met during college and instantly hit it off.

"The fact they'd both been adopted, after their parents had died, meant they'd both experienced a similar childhood, and they felt they could really connect with each other," the doctor said.

After processing the facts, it emerged that their biological parents had died in a car crash when the couple were infants.

With no family willing to adopt them, they were put into the care of the state and adopted out into separate families. But neither of their new families were told that the child had a twin.

"I really hope they can work something out. For me, it's a particularly unusual case because my job is all about helping couples conceive a child. This is the first time in my career that I've been glad I haven't succeeded in that regard," the doctor said.

A Co Galway church is allowing parishioners to get their Ash Wednesday blessing - from the comfort of their own car.

Glenamady Church is holding a ‘drive-thru’ service on March 1, where motorists can drive through the church grounds and get their foreheads daubed with ash through their vehicle window.

Parish priest Fr Paddy Mooney is holding the innovative service in response to modern worshippers being too busy for a conventional Mass as “people and families are on the move all the time”.

He hopes that the morning facility will become a popular way for the flock to fit the Lenten tradition into hectic lives.


The church is also providing drivers with a box where they can post Lenten petitions – again without having to step out of their car.

“It’s about meeting people where they are,” Fr Mooney told the Irish Catholic newspaper.

“We’re just putting the initiative in front of people to help them think of Lent, as a reminder of it.”

He added that parishioners were likely to welcome the ideas as they are “a great parish with very active people always thinking of new things for the church.”

Glenamady is not the first place of worship to offer fast food-style service for Ash Wednesday, however.

Last year a US church offered a similar facility. Clergy at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas, daubed a series of drivers, with Rev Jimmy Abbot saying of the faithful: “We wanted to make it easy for them.”

Power and robotics firm ABB (ABB) announced Wednesday that it has "uncovered a sophisticated criminal scheme" at its South Korean unit. It only noticed the huge sums had been stolen after the employee of the subsidiary disappeared about two weeks ago.

The employee, who has not been identified, is suspected of forging documents and working with individuals outside the company to steal the money, ABB said. It's working with local police and Interpol to investigate.

The embezzlement and misappropriation of funds is limited to South Korea, where ABB employs about 800 staff, it said. Other people could still come under investigation.

"We're looking at every option," ABB spokesman Domenico Truncellito said. "We are investigating externally and internally as well."

He declined to provide more information about the missing employee or the investigation. South Korean police weren't immediately available for comment.

As a result of the theft, the Swedish-Swiss corporation said it expects to take a pre-tax hit of $100 million on its 2016 results. ABB reported net profit of nearly $2 billion last year on revenue of around $34 billion.

The company said it is trying to recover the missing money and is also pursuing legal and insurance claims in an effort to reduce the blow to its finances.

ABB, which employees roughly 132,000 people around the world, said the affair may delay the publication of its annual report.

Mum gives birth to her own GRANDSON in surrogate baby joy after cancer left her daughter infertile

Julie Bradford, 45, offered her womb to her daughter Jess after she was left infertile by ovarian cancer at the age of just 18, and she says "any mother would do this for their child"

Devoted mum Julie Bradford has admitted nothing was going to stop her having a­­ ­surrogate baby for her cancer-stricken daughter.

The hairdresser, 45, bravely stood in for Jessica Jenkins, 21, after she was told she would never be able to have children.

Devastated Jessica opted to have her eggs frozen after becoming one of the youngest women in Britain to be diagnosed with cervical cancer when she was just 18.

Now, three years later, Julie has given birth to her baby grandson Jack.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, proud Julie said: “Any mother would do this for their child. It was never in question from day one. He’s a Christmas miracle to us.

“You watch your daughter go through cancer at 18 and then say you would not do the same. But I would have done it anyway, it’s what mums do.

“If cancer couldn’t beat us there was no way I wasn’t having a baby for Jessica.”

And delighted Jessica said: “I cannot believe I’ve gone from facing death with cancer to facing my first Christmas with my son in just a few years.

“It just shows you how, no matter what life throws at you, you should never give up, because anything is possible.”

Jack – born last Friday at a healthy 6lb 10oz – may not have arrived if it was not for the quick thinking of doctors.


Jessica, of Rhymney, South Wales, had her eggs harvested on the day she started radiotherapy. She said: “The depth of despair was not getting cancer, you can beat cancer, the true depth was being told point blank I’d never have kids.

“But the doctors were ­brilliant, it usually takes at least four weeks to harvest eggs for IVF but they managed to do it in two.

“I had my eggs harvested in the morning, and started radiotherapy that afternoon.

“It was the last possible moment I could have started treatment. But it was such an immense feeling of relief to know that no matter what happened, I had done that because I had always longed to be a mum and couldn’t bear that being taken away.”

Jessica’s husband Rees Jenkins, 27, said being told the couple could never have children was a massive blow.

The machine setter fought back tears as he revealed: “The cancer I could deal with, it was horrible, but you knew there was hope. I’d never cried in front of Jess until the day she told me she could never have kids. We just sat in the car and bawled our eyes out.

“She said I should leave her, go my own way, I don’t think I’ve ever loved her more then I did in that moment.”

Much to the couple’s relief, Jessica soon battled back from cancer and has been in remission since October 2014.

And as soon as she got the all-clear, her devoted mum Julie stepped in to give her what she wanted most – a child.

Doctors had managed to take 21 eggs but only 10 had survived by the time they chose to go ahead with the IVF treatment earlier this year.

But despite her age and already having three children of her own, Julie said there was never any doubt she would help.

The mum, who went through the menopause at 38, continued: “We couldn’t control the cancer but we could control this so it was my way of taking control back for my daughter. I could do something incredible for Jessica and that’s what I was going to do, nothing was going to stop me.”

Incredibly, Julie learned she was ­pregnant on April 9 this year – two years to the day that Jessica was told she could never have children.

The pair have been inseparable ever since and talk lovingly of the moment Jessica felt Jack kick for the first time.

Wiping away tears, Jessica said: “We were hugging on the couch watching TV and Jack kicked me in the head. We both just cried our eyes out, it was the most amazing experience.

“My mum is my hero, she has shown me what true love means, I can never repay her for what she has done for us and the sacrifices she has made.”

The experience was not quite the same for Jack’s dad Rees.

He said: “I’ll admit at first it did freak me out that my son was being carried in my mum-in-law. I kept my distance respectfully a tiny little bit but as soon as she started showing, I thought I can’t keep my distance from this. It is the most amazing thing any person can do for another.

“Jess and her mum had a great ­relationship anyway but it’s only strengthened now.

“Seeing Jess and her mum crying with Jack in their arms will always be the greatest day of my life. I have not said thank you to Julie enough and I want her to know just how thankful I am, from the bottom of my heart.

“A few years ago I was in a cold medical room being informed Jess could die, then I was in a room welcoming our son into the world. It’s truly wonderful.”

Jessica was by her mother’s side throughout the three-and-a-half hour labour. Jessica said: “It was horrible watching my mum in pain, I felt really helpless but I held her hand and mopped her brow, she was truly incredible. The most incredible mum in the world.

Julie laughed: “I have had three so I did warn her what it would be like but I just got on with it.

“I had a bit of gas and air at the end but didn’t even touch a paracetamol.

“I was just so pleased to be able to bring my daughter’s child into the world, you don’t feel pain at times like that.”

Jessica also revealed she has not ruled out further children but will not ask Julie again. Instead she has her hopes set on pioneering womb transplant technology.

She said: “I couldn’t put mum through it again – I know they’re doing clinical trials on womb transplants in Switzerland – so the moment that comes over here I’m putting myself forward.”

And once again Julie has stepped in to help – by offering to donate her own womb for transplant.

Julie said: “I wouldn’t think twice. It’s clearly in working order isn’t it.'

A man, who overstayed in the UK after his visa ran out, used false French documents to secure a job in a care home, a court heard.

Oyelaran Oyewole, 36, was jailed for four months and will be deported at the end of his sentence.

He pleaded guilty to possessing a false French identity card as well as possessing a forged French passport for an improper purpose and using it to fraudulently obtain employment as a care worker, on June 18 last year.

Leicester Crown Court was told that Oyewole came to the England in 2010 on a student visa and failed to return home when it expired in 2014 - having also lost an appeal to remain in the country.

Men who don’t want to become fathers should be permitted to have a “legal abortion” up to the 18th week of a woman’s pregnancy, say the young liberals. 

The cut-off date coincides with the last week in which a woman can terminate a pregnancy in Sweden.

“This means a man would renounce the duties and rights of parenthood,” LUF Väst chairman Marcus Nilsen told The Local. 

By signing up for a “legal abortion” then, a man would not have to pay maintenance for his child, but neither would he have any right to meet the child. 

The group believes “legal abortion” for men would promote equality between the sexes in the early stages of a pregnancy, giving men a chance to opt out.

Women would also benefit if they knew from the get-go whether a man was willing to commit to parenthood, the young liberals say. 

Asked how a mother would explain to a child later in life what had happened to its father, Nilsen said: “This situation already exists, with single women who choose to inseminate or simply don’t know who the father is.”He added: “We wouldn’t want to make this something that was subject to secrecy.

A mother could say: ‘I consider this man to be your father, but legally he is not’.” Some social media users have welcomed the plan but many have ridiculed it and Nilsen said the group had received a flurry of threats.

 “One man wrote on Facebook that all our members should be put against a wall and shot.”

Johanna Frändén, a popular sports writer, was a lot more welcoming. “I think I’m of the view that this is actually quite sensible,” she wrote on Twitter.
