16. Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport The fact that it has the shortest commercial runway in the world should tell you all you need to know! Situated on the small Caribbean island of Saba, it is surrounded by hills and cliffs. It is for these reasons that the airport is only used by smaller aircraft. However even these have some difficulty landing on the 396m runway.

17. Kansai International This particular airport is somewhat unusual in the sense that is on an artificial island connected to mainland Japan. The main problem for Kansai International Airport is its low elevation. The possibility of earthquakes and other harsh weather conditions do pose some risk. Despite this, relatively few incidents have occurred since its opening in 1994. http://www.shockpedia.com/25-terrifying-airports-that-are-best-avoided/6

18. Svalbard Airport It’s easy to see why this airport could be dangerous. Surrounded by the ice cold Greenland Sea and snow-capped mountains, it is the northernmost public airport in the world. The airport has seen two fatal crashes. The first killed six passengers in 1986, the other took place ten years later and saw the deaths of some 141 people.

19. Los Angeles International You may also know it as LAX; Los Angeles International Airport is one of the busiest in the USA. Every year it sees tens of millions of arriving and departing passengers. Unfortunately, several air crashes and incidents including terrorist bombings have resulted in this US airport being labelled one of the world´s most dangerous. http://www.shockpedia.com/25-terrifying-airports-that-are-best-avoided/4/

20. Princess Juliana International You may well have seen photos of planes coming in to land at this particular Caribbean island´s airport. It is famous for its particularly close proximity to a local beach. In fact, tourists of Saint Martin often visit there in order to get up close and personal with aircraft which fly just over their heads. There are several signs which warn of the dangers of the jet blast.

21. Catalina Airport This privately owned airport can be found on the island of Catalina, just off the Californian coast. Although the airport is open to the public it tends to see only more experienced pilots. This is because the airport’s rather short runway has a steep drop off. All surrounding roads to the airport are also notoriously steep. http://www.shockpedia.com/25-terrifying-airports-that-are-best-avoided/3

22. Barra Airport Barra Airport is particularly unique for one reason: it’s the only airport in the world which has a beach for a runway. Located on the island of Barra just off Scotland, the sandy runways naturally get flooded from time to time by the tide. This can cause flight times to changes quite considerably.

23. Ibrahim Nasir International The main international airport in the Maldives, Ibrahim Nasir Airport is well connected due to its popularity as a tourist destination. It’s a gateway to the Maldives and is located on Hulhule Island. A lack of space for planes to manoeuvre as well as a constant risk of floods means that this airport is not without its fair share of dangers. 1 Share

24. Agatti Aerodrome The only airstrip in the archipelago, the Agatti Aerodrome can be found at the southern end of Agatti Island. Constructed in 1987, it’s surrounded by the Indian Ocean and has just one asphalt runway which can prove testing for even the most experienced pilots. Fortunately, there are plans for expansion. 1 Share

Have you ever been to an airport that you’d consider dangerous? Flying is statistically the safest form of travelling. Despite this, many people have a fear of flying. Perhaps it’s the lack of self-control or maybe it’s just that some airports are just plain terrifying! Here’s our list of the 25 most terrifying airports that are best avoided. 25. JFK International This airport may well be a surprise inclusion for some. While many of the airports on this list are poorly situated or in poor shape, JFK is here because of the sheer volume of air traffic it experiences on a daily basis. It’s therefore essential that traffic controller and pilots work together to avoid any potential mishaps.

Romance / WHAT IF IS A MAN THAT ATTEMPTED THIS? [PICTURES] AND [VIDEO] by Gnexplore: 1:53pm On Oct 27, 2014 |
Firefighters live-tweeted the chimney rescue of Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa at the home of a man she met online A woman looking for her soulmate found herself trapped in the chimney of a man she met through an online dating site. Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, 30, was rescued by a team of firefighters after attempting to enter the man’s home in Los Angeles on Sunday, police say. The suspect was taken into custody Photo: VCSO Neighbours alerted authorities after the soot-covered intruder became stuck and started screaming for help. The whole rescue operation was live-tweeted by Captain Mike Lindbery from the Ventura County Fire Department. Firefighters carefully removed bricks to reach the woman and then used dishwashing soap to lubricate the chimney so she could be safely lifted out. Homeowner Lawrence Fernandez said the pair had been on six dates before he broke things off. "She seemed totally cool until the first flag was her actually being on my roof two weeks ago,” he told KTLA. “Having someone in your chimney is like kind of a weird thing you wouldn’t expect to come home to,” he explained to CBS LA. “It wasn’t Santa Claus, for sure.” He added: “You have to be careful who you meet online.” Nunez-Figueroa was arrested for illegal entry and providing false information to an officer. I've set it out loud and to the world. As I see all these billionaires and millionaires out there making dimes on just about every little bitty thing they do, and most of it doesn't really make up a hill of beans worth of difference to us, I have to ask how come I have to improvise and scrape and tried to arrange my financial life. When everything is blocked at every turn. Mike Ogriz Mike Ogriz 2 hours ago 2 8 Actually John I know what you are coming from. This Country is in debt and people are struggling just to get by and you have people that are billionaires that could probably work together and make this country debt free and help more people out. Like you said (somewhat) = what good does it do anyone when someone like Justin Beiber makes 100 Million for singing to his teenage fans. How much money do people need to live on? Politically Incorrect Politically Incorrect 2 hours ago 1 5 Celebrities are the worst. They make an obscene amount of money for basically playing pretend. It's ridiculous and yet people worship them like royalty. Ivar Ivar 1 hour ago 0 1 There's one big difference between those people and people such as yourself. Those people tend to spend their time and energy setting small goals for themselves obtaining them one at a time and building on them in an effort to eventually reach their ultimate goal whatever that may be. Whereas many people want it all in one giant leap (immediate gratification) which is next to impossible to achieve thereby becoming easily disenfranchised, angry and jealous which leads to a perpetual state of self-pity, that's not a healthy place to be. A very small percentage of people just fall into success willy-nilly. For most, it involves a lot of time and work, but when it's something that you enjoy doing, it really doesn't seem like work and your probably going to wish that you had more time to invest. Take something in life that you really enjoy doing, no matter what that may be (as long as your not hurting other people) and then become an expert on whatever that may be. It's going to involve a lot of time and energy, but if you read, study and get hands on experience you can make money doing it. Hang out with people that have like interests and ask questions, lot's of questions, you want to know everything that they know about whatever it is that interests you. I have yet to find a person that doesn't enjoy having somebody ask for their advice and knowhow, most people consider that a compliment, and it actually is. people like being recognized for their knowledge or accomplishments. Your feeding off of their ego and theirs nothing wrong with that, it's mutually beneficial to both parties in a positive way. BTW, if you don't think that you can make money doing anything that you wish to become an expert at/on, just look at everybody making money playing cards, racing cars, playing golf, shooting pool, fishing, hunting, even playing video games, etc....., Teaching others whatever it is you became an expert at. You don't have to be one of those people on TV to make money doing it. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/meet-the-college-dropout-billionaire-who-s-revolutionizing-the-medical-industry-170558675.html |

Microsoft Founder and philanthropist Bill Gates took the top spot for the 21st year in a row on Forbes 400 richest Americans list with a net worth of $81 billion. Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway ranks second with a net worth of $67 billion, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is in third place with a $50 billion fortune. But in addition to these long-time heavyweights, 27 new names grace this year’s list, and Abram Brown, associate editor at Forbes, describes nearly all the newcomers as “self-made, entrepreneurial capitalists.” A standout member among the new-editions to this very elite club is 30-year old college dropout Elizabeth Holmes. Holmes reportedly “labored in secret” for almost a decade while developing a revolutionary new blood-testing technology. In 2003 she took her findings to the public and founded Theranos-- the company announced partnerships with Walgreens and other major drugstores to bring a new type of blood testing to consumers. Holmes’ technology calls only for a single finger-prick and a very small amount of blood for medical testing—as opposed to the full vial (or vials) of blood typically drawn for testing in most labs and medical offices. The prick is said to be painless and Theranos’ testing-methods only a fraction of the cost of commercial labs. The biotech founder is the youngest self-made woman on the Forbes 400 list with a net worth of $4.5 billion. Holmes dropped out of Stanford University her sophomore year as a chemical engineering major and used her tuition money to found her company. Holmes’ tests do not have to be performed in a doctor’s office, and by skipping the big labs most results can be ready in a few hours. “She could totally overturn an entire industry if Theranos is as successful as it seems to be,” says Brown. Other new names of note on the 2014 list include video game king Jon Yarbrough, who got his start as a college kid in Tennessee by renting out his foosball table to a local bar for a 50-50 split of the profits. He expanded into video gaming machines and his business grew with the Tribal Casino business. Yarbrough’s current net worth is $1.66 billion and in June he announced plans to sell his company to an Australian firm for $1.28 billion. Rockstar Energy Drink creator Russ Weiner also made his debut into the 400 with a $2.5 billion net worth. He founded the Red Bull and Monster Beverage competitor after learning the beverage industry-ropes while working for the founder of Skyy Vodka and expects 2014 sales of his drink to reach $713 million. Brown points out that there are 133 American billionaires “too poor for the rich list.” This year the average net-worth of members of the Forbes 400 Richest list is $1.55 billion up almost 14% from last year, a number Brown says “generally rises as the stock market rises.” http://finance.yahoo.com/news/meet-the-college-dropout-billionaire-who-s-revolutionizing-the-medical-industry-170558675.html |

Culture / Woman Claims Sick Pay Despite Running Career by Gnexplore: 12:07pm On Jul 17, 2014 |
A Swedish woman has been forced to return 700,000 kronor ($102,000) to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency after collecting sickness benefits despite being a successful, competitive runner. The agency launched an investigation against the 54-year-old woman after receiving an anonymous tip and found that while she had been collecting sick pay, she was also one of the top runners in her competitive class in Sweden. Over the past few years she had participated in a number of events around Sweden and was an active member of two sports clubs. The woman started claiming benefits back in 2005 and continued until the agency caught up with her in 2014. She stated in her original application that her back and stomach were troubling her, writing that she "felt like needles were poking the soles of her feet" and that her "legs and back were hurting and the ache spread to her lungs and sides". Because of this pain the woman stated that she was unable to even vacuum her home or drive a car, and the pain was supposedly so bad she fainted and had to take heavy pain-killers. Wednesday was deadline day for the 54-year-old to return the funds to the Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan). She however continued to maintain the legitimacy of her claim, explaining that the reason for her running career was that she had been ordered to get as much exercise in as possible. http://www.thelocal.se/20140716/woman-claims-sick-pay-despite-running-career |

Pure German way. Calm, cool and collected. And above all, superior preparation! That´s what has allowing them to outrun virtually all their adversaries so far, on an unreasonable and supposably adverse climate. For instance they didn´t play that much better than Algeria, but by the the extra time, the algerians were all cramping on the ground while the germans kept on running to the end. That got them the victory. They will probably win the cup and if they do, they will have done it before the competition even start. That was a team that went to Brasil, from the start, willing to work extra hard and that´s been paying off big time. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/07/08/sport/football/five-things-germany-brazil/index.html?hpt=hp_c2 NOTHING BEATS SUPERIOR PREPARATION IN LIFE ..... Swedish health officials on Wednesday warned parents not share their beds with their new-born babies due to an increased risk of cot death, also known as sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Sweden is one of the countries where bed-sharing between parents and infants is most widespread. "It's important that children under three months sleep in their own beds," Kerstin Nordstrand at the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) told AFP. She said the recommendation was "new", since the institution had previously only advised against new-borns sleeping in the same room as a smoker or in the same bed with a parent under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The information was first published by Swedish medical newspaper Dagens Medicin, which cited a paediatrics professor at Gothenburg University. "It has been clear in the research in recent years that co-sleeping is a risk factor in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome," professor Göran Wennergren told the paper. The practice is reportedly widespread in Sweden. A 2001 study published in the paediatric journal Early Human Development showed that 65 percent of three-month-old Swedish babies slept with their parents, the highest rate in the Western world. A report published by the British Medical Journal which analyzed nearly 1,500 sudden infant deaths revealed that 22 percent took place while the baby slept in the parental bed. According to professor of medical statistics, Bob Carpenter, who was responsible for the study, the risk of cot death for babies sleeping with their parents was multiplied by five compared to those who slept alone. Other countries including France and the United States recommend sleeping in the same room as the new-born, but not in the same bed.
