Is it really possible to escape poverty especially if you're from a very poor home in Nigeria. How easy/hard?
I believe there are rich men here (Averagely okay at least) who came from a poor background. How were you able to do it and what advice do you have for someone whose only heritage is Nigeria?
Please share your experience. |

For critizing Ironsi, Ogundipe or saying Nigeria would have fare better if the original coup plotters had taken power? Why not leave nairaland and search for the meaning of tribal instead of dragging the whole Yoruba race in the mud. |

rainlover: Asides local farm produce which I'm yet to buy, things seems to more expensive here than in Portharcourt. The price of a 6kg gas cylinder is sold here for atleast 13,500 NGN that's the least price I have seen. The same cylinder costs for 11,000 in Portharcourt.
The loaf of bread sold here for #800 goes for #700 in Portharcourt as at the time of this writing.
Clothes are more expensive here than in Portharcourt (not boutique clothes)
A bag of sachet water sold for #150 in Portharcourt goes for #170 - 200 here in Oshogbo.
Every writeup here is based on facts and not assumption.
I have only spent four days in Oshogbo since I left portharcourt
More updates loading.. Things were very cheap in olOsogbo until recently. When I visited Osogbo in 2016/17 and compare it to now, I'm usually shocked at how things has skyrocketed in few years. The Osogbo of yester years was very cheap compared to now. |

pompeiimagnus: You're very fortunate to be coming here as a USC. Lots of opportunities abound, just ensure you make the right choices. For e.g. Tesla is running a START program with some community colleges in Austin and Houston for production associates (full tuition covered). Amazon and Walmart also have tuition coverages for their associates. My advise is this: make sure you get your bachelor's in engineering (EE, ME or IE) or IT (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, software engineer, etc.). With this, you'd be set for life here as a USC. All the best! Please what's the meaning of USC, all this acronym are strange to me. |

-Both come from West African countries. -Both were born in the early 1900's -Both fought and struggled hard to liberate their countries' from the British. -Both became the leaders of their respective countries. - Both got removed from power by coup.

I want to spend the money before today runs out. In each passing hour, Naira is losing value, so only idiots keep money in Naira for long.

Romance › Re: What Is Wrong Again? by Gobengroup(m): 2:11pm On Aug 23, 2021 |
iLegendd: I'm angry.
I have this particular phone with both MTN and Airtel SIM. I always recharge them 5k each for my 20GB monthly sub.
I have already recharged the MTN and that's what I'm using. In fact, MTN gave me 48GB for 5k (including bonus).
This month, I'm not in the mood of using MB that much and I haven't finished the 48GB.
Now, here is why I'm angry. While lying on bed last night and pressing my phone, I fell asleep and the phone slipped from my hand.
I don't know if my body rolled on it, but I woke this morning to see a message on my screen saying: You have successfully recharged 5,000 monthly.
I checked my Airtel line and saw only 888 Naira. My 5k is gone in a sub I didn't do. Yes, I always turn off my auotrenewal every single time.
Maybe, I should blame myself for not putting a password on the phone.
But, instead of blaming Airtel or myself, I have decided to be sharing 200MB to both my fans and haters everyday until I get bored sending.
On Airtel, they don't allow more than 200MB per day.
The sharing starts now. Only Airtel and only one person per day. Boss pls come to my aid o. My binance account was blocked from performing any transactions and I have some money in it . Pls how do I go about recovering my account? It's my only hope. |

Romance › Re: +18: The P*ssy Is Too Sweet So I Did This [Picture] by Gobengroup(m): 8:15pm On Aug 07, 2021 |
iLegendd: In all you do as a man, don't work for money for more than 10 years. Put yourself in a position money will work for you.
Don't force your child to be what you want — allow him or her choose a career and as long as it's not disgraceful like being a porn star, stripper, etc., allow him/her.
Life is not all about going to school to learn, but by learning and educating yourself even without school, but your environment or the Internet.
Don't let a woman control you, be her your mom or the most beautiful and smartest woman on Earth and at the same time, don't be controlling just because you're a man. All you need to do is to be in control, but not controlling.
Don't live in the same area with Fulanis except you're a Fulani — e get why.
Invest more than you spend and don't laugh at people's predicament except they laughed at you first. At times, forgive them.
Help people, but only those your instinct told you to, not those who demand for it as if they're entitled to it.
Be great in bed (and as a man don't use drugs — it's addictive), but control your d*ck; don't allow it control you — e get why.
Any woman with a bad behavior during courtship should be discarded without remorse — if you ignore the red flags because of love and marry her, you've dug your early grave.
Don't fall in love with a woman, only fall in like. After 10 years of marriage and she has maintained her innocence, faithfulness, and kindheartedness, you can now fall in love with her — e get why.
Be more observant than reactive in all you do. Only be reactive when you want to stir water and catch fish (you know what I mean).
Don't kiss and tell — if you must tell, document it and convert it to a book, movie, etc. and make money from it and don't forget to give your partner his or her share.
Even if you don't believe in God, once in a while go on your knees and give praise go the sky — e get why.
Finally, always be honest, but note that being blunt is optional, but exercising, sleeping, and eating healthily aren't. Thanks for this boss, you're an inspiration. |

All commenters tried and they are

Unfortunately, we only need one winner.
The first person to comment is Brownhacks, but he only highlighted five points.
He missed the Naira devaluation and I had to point that out.
After I did, subsequent commenters incorporated it and I see that as cheating.
After thorough check, the winner is CarlScott, but he won't get the full 5k, but 4k. The remaining 1k goes to the first commenter, Brownhacks.
So, the winner and first commenter should drop their bank account number or phone number to get their gift.
Offer expires at 7:30 PM today. After the expiration, gift can't be redeemed and no excuse will he granted.
Thank you guys for your time and stay blessed.
