PoliticsRe: Ex-Minister's Son Dies In Power Bike Accident by godfadda6(m): 9:50am On Oct 12, 2012
Death in any form in inevitable, how he died, what he died of "sumtims" is in material, a soul has been lost. People die of lesser things like headache, even malaria, so let's not flog the issue of how he died or what he died off.

Some of us had rode from PH to lagos no problem, lagos to ghana, no problem, lagos to okitupupa no problem, so please not flog the issue,

Another thing, his father is "his father" he is his own person........

In my opinion, when we hear of death, it should be a time of sober reflection of the word of the bible, "what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and loose his soul" and also "no repentance in the grave"

So let's not make a mockery of this situation, rather reflect and thank God for our lives!

RIP DON P.
FamilyRe: Do Mothers-In-law Have A Say In Wedding Preparation? by godfadda6(m): 11:19pm On Oct 10, 2012
My wedding is coming up in a couple of months and both my mummy and mother-in-law are fully involved. We tell them what we want and they plan with us.

Both our parents are like brothers and sisters now, so they call each other to ask for advise, we have said what we want and our expectations!

In fact both parents esp the mums don't want us to even spend a dime.......don't take it wrongly, we both have our says in the whole "shibang" in fact na we be advisers!

So me generally I don't see anything wrong, as long as my views and the views of my wife to be are respected!
TravelRe: Few Nigerians Work As Cabin-Crew On International Airlines? by godfadda6(m): 10:58am On Oct 04, 2012
Well as someone working in the aviation industry, I'll tell you most Nigerians in Nigeria and overseas don't find the just attractive.

It's common knowledge that most flight attendants practically "live in their bags", very hard to have a family and have a stable home.

Though we have loads of them on domestic routes and very few on the international routes. And also some country carriers limit the amount of "foreigners" they employ for their carriers. I have many girl friends that are flight attendants for domestic carriers in the US and even recently, Virgin Atlantic still employed a large number of flight attendants from former Virgin Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Arik Presents Ipad3 to Omojuwa, Elrufai's Mouth Piece And Chief Hacker(pix) by godfadda6(m): 5:15pm On Oct 02, 2012
Arik is creating a bad anticedent! Passengers should be given conditions of carriage which is govern by the Montreal convention in which Nigeria is a signatory...

Airlines do not compensate for electronics, jewelry and some other personal effects in "checked in" bags! That's why airlines ask you to put those in your carry on!

I'm shocked at what Arik has done if that's true! Let him try it with carriers from some regions, his ass would be walking around!

Arik don't create a bad anticedent, I'll attach the montreal convention

sometimes you would get into the E-branch and it is deserted, or you are the only one or two people, when things happen and you complain is when investigation would go on, does GT security anywhere check the CCTV to know what happens dailyhuh? is it not when you complain that they go back and check, and how many nigerians go back to complain? we just thank God for life and move on.

CrimeRemembering 9/11 by godfadda6(op): 12:06pm On Sep 09, 2012
Let us spare a moment to remember and pray for the soul of the departed of the 9/11 attacks.

I know some people would say what's my business, but I'll say it is a point of remembrance of the grace God gave to this country, yes we have our own problems, but me personally cannot imagine the events of that day.

I presently work for an airline involved in the attacks, I met with some of my colleagues who either dispatched the flight or checked in the flights, the agony and the pain they go through is unimaginable.

It is just my hope and prayer that God continues to keep us and grant the departed eternal rest.

There were so many unnamed individuals in the WTC on that day, immigrants who used fake work permits to work as cleaners.

Share you thought about 9/11

SportsRe: Blessing Okagbare Places Last In 100m Finals by godfadda6(m): 7:30am On Aug 05, 2012
Blessing Okagbare made the same mistake Innocent Egbunike made during his active years. She is a terrific runner with many prospects, but she burned out before the finals. In the golden league she clocked 10.8 at one time, even in qualification, she clocked 10.92, so she has used up all her strenght for qualification, I guess that's the job of her coach, she should have taken it a lil bit easy going up to the finals. The same thing Innocent Egbunike did against Linford Christy, use all ur strenght for the meets, all ur strenght for qualification nd burn out in the final.

When Micheal Johnson ran in atlanta, after winning 200m, his coach took him in a taxi, away from the stadium nd when to prepapre him for the 400m, he was psyched up, mentally before the race, that's what's blessings coach should have done.

Well since one of our brightest medal hopeful has crashed out, let's wait for the other one Chukwumerije, and hope he makes us proud!

AutosRe: Share Your Experience On Nigerian used Cars You Have Bought From Nairaland. by godfadda6(m): 12:03pm On Jul 31, 2012
Well I read this post and I became very interested. For those that throw jabs, I'm not here to advertise anyone or tell you someone is better!

Being that as it may, I bought a camry 1991 from NL, you would be shocked, it is was a 20 year old car with 94,000 miles on it, good vin, V6, power seat belt, I bought it on monday, changed the shaft on wednesday, and took it to akure, OMG the car is an helicopter, the car is 1yr and 7months now, I have no regret whatsoever buying on NL.

Apart from regular servicing, it has no problem whatsoever, I have tried changing the car, but all or most of the sellers I have come across are just liars (excuse the word). They would tell you stories and you would get to see the car and you would be like WTF.

But seriously there are good and honest sellers on NL, but like we say, "the few bad ones, make all the sellers look bad"
TravelOpen Letter To Minister Of Aviation. by godfadda6(op): 10:21am On Jul 30, 2012
Good day Ma,

I want to use this medium to thank you for all the good things you have been doing in the aviation industry. The sanitisation of the industry is commendable. The enforcement of standards in worthy of recognition, safer skies, ICAO and IOSA standards.

I also want to recognize the upgrading and expansion of the airports, especially the murtala mohammed international airport which serves as a huge gateway to our country.

But ma, do you know despite all the beautification an expansion, you people would not tell you about the basic things that are absent in this airport. Madam do you know a passenger fell on the jet bridge of MMIA, while she arrived from a flight from the US. She was alive because I was there, we just insisted that she get medical attention and to our shock the woman passed away.

All efforts to revive her was abortive. You need to visit the clinic, it was in a deplorable state. No defibrilator, no emergency team, to cap it up, no ambulance to even take the body to the mortuary.

I'm bringing this to you notice because passenger safety should also be paramount to you administration. You and I know the stress of flying can be exhilirating. Passengers pass out due to the stress of checking in, the stress of the so call "security" operatives,

Please ma, help us look into the health part, a working medical center is needed, not a point to issue "yellow card".

I hope this get to your office.

Yours...

Concerned citizen!

@wislet...thanks a bunch! She doesn't only love me, she is crazy about me! Sometimes I'm scared, but one main thing is this, (might sound corky) the Lord speaks to me through her.

The key is stay open, communicate, don't hide anything from each other, overall see way above the beauty......moreso, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! I'm 5"7, my fiance is 5"........but I love her so much!

Even my parents didn't believe in the whole internet shibang! But now, they can't wait to travel over 6,000miles for the wedding!

RomanceRe: Help! She Is Too Ugly For My Liking by godfadda6(m): 6:16pm On Jun 25, 2012
I read through all what has been said on this thread and I decided to share my story!

I had a similar encounter with a lady on a dating website 5years ago, we talked, emailed, called each other back and forth, sometimes for months we wouldn't talk but when we got back we would discuss everything! She was like my confidant and I was like her confidant too, cos it was easy for us to say stuff to ourselves, stuff we wouldn't dear say......

To cut the long story short, I got a job which gave me the opportunity to travel to where she was, when I got there I gave her a call, she was shocked to hear I was in her town, it was hard for us to want to meet, but eventually we summoned courage to meet each other, when I met her I was like OMG, she was like a huge "ballon" (no disrespect).

All I remember I kept saying was "so what's up"!!! We couldn't even talk freely like we used to do through the phone and email, we cooled off, then I went back and retraced all we have said and discussed, and I just discovered I had peace with this lady, we connected in a very special way......

I went back not knowing she felt the same way!!! To cut the story short again, I have looked beyond the way she looks and I have learnt to take her the way she is, and we connect well! Infact we are getting married in November of this year! When my family met her, it was magical, they all loved her, like wise when he folks met me I was like a lost son, her dad calls me like a son he never had!

So my advise is, if u can look beyond beauty and see the connection, but if you can't connect, like someone advised, let her go before it's too late! My 2 cents!

Guys this is just an advise!

When you are tired, maybe you did night shift or went partying, or you are excited about buy a new car, please do not drive!!!

My friend just bought a 99 fore runner, was excited, went to work with it, he worked all night and was tired when he was coming! On his way, he lost control and the result was fatal!

Something really funny happened to my neighbour and i felt i should share it here, especially about buying used cars.

My neighbour bought a toyota camry 2003 LE from the famous berger market, and as you know niaja people we drink palmie untop the car. The young man thought he had bought a car of his dream not until last week, police CID operatives from Panti to arrest my guy that his car his a stolen car. You should have seen my entire area all men stood up and were asking questions from police. To cut the long story short, we all followed police to Panti. On getting there we saw 3guys that alledged that they sold the car to a dealer in berger and that the car was snatched at gun point in mile 2 area of lagos.

We asked for the deal and how were they sure that it was the car and how did they even know that it was the same car. This is where the story got interesting. The 3guys are a gang of a notorious gang of armed robbers who rob cars along the lagos-badagry express way, their module operandi includes putting nails on the road and outright hijacking of the cars. The guys has stolen the car from a young man like 2months ago and had gone to sell it to the dealer at berger. The dealer got the car and sold it to my neighbour about 3weeks later.

My neighbour as a JJC bought the car in berger, numbered it in berger did all the custom work and papers that was how the car was traced to him. The 3 guys were caught by a tip off/deal gone wrong by the police and investigation lead to someone claiming he imported the car to nigeria, has title, has all the papers from auction I mean he had the whole papers police. That was how they traced the car to my neighbour.

Morale of the story please lets be aware of the cars we buy oh especially used cars, lets make sure we have correct papers because if my neighbour has had correct papers maybe he would have known, and lets not patronise touts when doing all our paper work, thats my own two cent.

PoliticsRe: Airspace Not Shut Down For First Lady, Says Minister by godfadda6(m): 2:16pm On Jun 06, 2012
If a captain makes a distress call at 11 nautica miles (quoting minister of aviation) that's 20kilometers of the airport, there is a radar to show location before it lost contact, why wasn't all the NAMA, NEMA and all contact to tell them there was a mayday distress call?

In as much as we shouldn't politize the death of these people, we should not fail to realise that so many things are wrong with the system, presidency, FAAN, NAMA and all.....

Whether the airspace was shut or not, if a distress call was made at 20KM, that means the aircraft is approaching final decent into the lagos area, why shldnt the "rescue" team be ready.........
PoliticsRe: Airspace Not Shut Down For First Lady, Says Minister by godfadda6(m): 1:36pm On Jun 06, 2012
I didn't want to reply this, but I work at the airport and I have seen the airspace shut for 45mins due "vip" movement......on arrival it was David Mark, Senate president.

I'm not saying this is what happened on sunday, but the aviation ministry should give us facts, they close airspace for 1hr for Mr President and his cronies. When we have 2 runways, and u still close the airspace.......

Smh, for this country!

@tpia, well I'm corroborating what the minister said, and I do work at the airport and was amongst those that even called the attention of the police bomb squad to the bag, at least I told you the location of where the "controlled" detonation was carried out! Ladies and Gentlemen,

Though I'm not an authority to make this "pronouncement" but I work at MMIA and I can authoritatively tell you that there was no bomb in, around or near the airport today.

There was a large bang that was heard at about 21:08hrs, we were all worried, and we went out, only to discover that there was a bag that was left unattended to at the E wing arrival of the airport.

The Police bomb squad team took the bag and took it to a controlled location around the diplomatic car park and "blasted" (dats the word they used) the bag. The reason why they did that is not known to "novices" like me.

But I can authoritatively tell you there was no bomb, our flights left on time, and we are all safe, business as usual.

So everyone worried, and sending messages, BBM and all, please go and relax!

Everything is under control here!
