Nice one.

The state police was rejected by the NASS during the last administration. I hope they pass it this time around.

My fear is just that the governors should not flop in handling those police and make crime skyrocket now and now come back to blame FG for allowing state police in the first place.

Every policy is good on paper in Nigeria. Naira float removal was the main song everyone was singing only to come and start blaming the president after seeing the effect of their darling Naira float.
Nigeria is a very complicated entity

Yes they can. You underestimate the powers of the government.
The power of which government? This is a Democratic era and it is an open market operation where only the forces of demand and supply can determine the prices commodities.

If the government do any how it will be counter productive as sellers will adopt plan b.

In fact, northern farmers are already reportedly selling their grains to neighboring countries to maximize profit. That is plan b for you and there is nothing your government can do about it.
Food › Re: Hardship: FG Moves To Regulate Food Prices by Godfullsam(m): 3:40pm On Feb 14, 2024
You can't force anyone to sell his/her product at your desired rate in an open market.

The govt. should revert to cashless policy as soon as possible and begin to tactically mop up the excess money already in circulation.

Everyone should brace up for this year's planting season, each house hold should plant something..
Politics › Re: Open Letter To Mr President by Godfullsam(m): 3:29pm On Feb 14, 2024
This is an open letter to a president who himself is a slave to dollars.

All our leaders (past and present) and the law makers are hoarding dollars in their various banks and their homes.

There is no way this your noble idea will make any sense to them.

We are our own problem in this country. Our leaders only show they love the country when they are seeking for power. Once they get elected, they begin to working on things that will benefit them and their cohorts alone.

Banditary/kidnapping , Oil theft, dollars scarcity etc are caused by this useless people that call themselves leaders.
They know exactly what to do to at least ameliorate the situation but they won't do it because it won't benefit them.
Nigerians have long been talking about constitutional amendment and restructuring, but they turn deft hears to the yearning of the masses because they are benefiting from the current corrupt system.

This same thing Bode George is saying, I've been told by many top bankers as well. He's not lying. Learn to separate emotions from reality.
A closed mind is a closed destiny.

And this is just a wild personal opinion though: sometimes we get into a problem. We pray. God sends a solution. Then we cry over the solution because it's not what we expected. But it is what was needed. Think about that for a minute.
He will not think about for any minute. Even if he thinks about it for a month, he still won't understand what you mean.
When a man allows emotions to take a better part of him, logical thinking flies through the window.

DeepSight:
As true as what you have written is in terms of dollar profiteering, one cannot say these folk destroyed the naira. They didn't float the naira for heaven's sake. You know who did.
The floating of the naira was done to stop these bankers and other criminals from their shady businesses.

See, the floating of naira and subsidy removal is something that should have been done loooong time ago.

We all know that any government that summon the courage to implement the policy will take many blames.

Unfortunately, balablu did it albeit in a wrong way.

Expected

Someone told me yesterday that the reason for the increase in the cost of food items is because other neighboring countries now come to Nigeria in lorries via northern boarder to buy grains from Nigeria.

They find out foods cheaper because of the poor value of the naira.

Lemme summarize for you all

In summary, the Nigerian economy nosedived the moment APC took over power via clueless buhari.

Tinubu took over from where buhari stopped and made everything even worse!

Investors usually don't bring in their cash in Local Currencies all over the world, they do in Dollars.
Initially when they came in an pumped in their Dollar, everyone was happy because it gave the economy a boast and now as things goes bad due to our Buhari bad policies ,we want them to share in the blame?
Policies is dead on arrival because no investor will agree.
Don't mind all these educated illiterates that are complaining and insulting the government.

This what has been happening in the power sector for a very long time and no one even took notice or complained about it.
That is why the minister said the are proposing for payment in naira which the investors may decide to reject the proposal.
If the government decides to force naira down their throat, the will ask the government to meet them jn court for breach of contract agreement .
Nigeria government will pay a lot of fine in dollar grin and the investors will pack and go.

The only way this proposal can work is if there is a clause in the contract agreement that gives room for naira payment or in the investors are indigenous/local.

Tinubu doesn't have blind followers like buhari and obi.

If he fails to perform, he won't get a quarter of the votes he got from SW.

SW are not gonna support him just because he is theirs, this is know for sure.
Still wondering how his supporters even sleep at night. We sane Nigerian already know what will be fall Nigeria Tinubu, Atiku or obi gets to power.

RepoMan007:
Cardoso is a victim of politicization of appraisal of CBN performance.
The performances of all CBN governors has historically correlated with the petrol dollar availability. To me, Emefiele was the only guy who performed beyond the level of available petrodollar in his time. All other governors of the CBN were simply lucky to have the dollar available.
Not one of them influenced inflow of dollar in any significant way. Cardoso's case is agrevated by what Emefiele and Buhari did with loans and cash in circulation. They created a huge problem by spending out of recession and into crippling debt that eats revenue.
God bless you.

You made lots of senses.

I will make sure the country is restructured by all means and decentralized power at the center.

I will make sure political office becomes very unattractive such that only serious people who are only interested in contributing the country's development can join politics.
The law makers will become a part term job with only peanuts as allowances. Only serious and patriotic people will join politics.

I will seek debt relieve/pardon from our creditors.

I will convert all deposits in dollars to naira and prosecute anyone hoarding the dollar.
I will restructure the NYSC. It will become a compulsory 1 yr paid skill acquisition programme. Especially in area of technology and agriculture.
I will encourage young people to go into mechanized farming.

I will reintroduce cashless policies. You won't be able to withdraw more than 20k cash per day. Any other trx should be done through mobile through cashless means.

I will gradually mop up excess money in circulation and eventually phase out 1000 naira notes and make 500 naira the highest denomination. It will become a serious criminal offense for anyone to hold excess money in cash.

I won't increase minimum wage just yet! I will use the money derived from subsidy removal to improve food production via mechanized agriculture, infrastructures development etc so that the existing minimum wage can have a more values in terms of purchasing power. I will continue to buy time with the NLC while I put my ministers under pressure to get things done quickly.

There will be no more medical trips for politicians, no more importation of luxury items.

Only those into businesses/production or agriculture are allowed to enjoy unrestricted life style. Government salary earners and politicians are civil servants and there are limits to what servants can enjoy.

If you want to be a big man in my government, you better go and set up a large farm or you start producing something.

To tackle insecurities, I will encourage state policing and hold the state governors responsible in any state where there is kidnapping or banditary.

Not a single even half-economically literate answer in the whole bunch, just lots of wishful thinking masquerading as wisdom. With whose money are you subsidy-reversers planning to operate? Are any of you even aware that more than 80% of FG revenues are already commiitted to servicing the interest on loans, and the severe consequences defaulting would instigate? And anyone thinking a CBN governor can work miracles in 48 hours might as well wish for unicorns jumping over rainbows with pots of gold at their ends, that's how ridiculously fantastical such thinking is.

It's useless answers like these that make it impossible to take most criticism of Tinubu on here seriously. 99% of you moaning and groaning don't have the first clue about what Nigeria's problems really are, not to speak of any meaningful ideas about how to tackle them.
Do you know you haven't said anything?

The question is
What would you have done to tackle the current economics challenges if you were the president?

You are busy criticising other people's comments.
