They usually start that way then greed takes over. Growing up in the Ojodi area of Lagos, there was a guy that runs the local neighborhood pharmacy. He was the most popular chemist as we call them. Very friendly guy that plays with kids and adults that patronized him. That guy could easily live large on running that pharmacy alone as the location was even at a strategic junction.

Well until one day a battalion of police invaded his house and there was a shoot out between the police and men in his compound. Police some shot dead and some had serious wounds. They killed his Alsatian dogs during the operation too. People that lived around his house were shocked to the bone marrow seeing the large amount of luxury cars that were being towed out of the sprawling compound by the police team.

The guy (popular chemist) was an armed robber! One of the windows of the car they recently stole on an operation was shattered, and a member of his team had gone to make enquiry at a car dealership (sole distributor) about the cost of replacement. The car was not popular, so there were only two dealership back then in the whole of Nigeria. The man was traced back to the house were the stolen vehicle was kept.

Since that day, I no dey trust anybody's source of wealth again. This was like 20 years ago.

They always use chemist and provision stores as disguise.

There are many of them like that here in abuja and nasarawa state.

You will see them driving big cars but the total sum of the items in their store may not worth the cost of even one tyre of the least of their car fleet.

Most times you will discover that the shop is locked up for several days/weeks.
When they come back, they will tell you they traveled to buy goods from Lagos .

It is productive activities that grow the economy, boost employment, create wealth, etc. Taxation won't do that. Removal of subsidies won't do that. Increase in minimum wage won't do that.

We URGENTLY need robust plan and functional actions towards boosting food and export crop production and processing, protecting and strengthening local industries, incentivising SMEs, boosting sale of Nigerian products to ECOWAS, Africa and other parts of the world.
