I don't think its jealousy tho, he's trying to establish the fact that igbo business is majorly importations and not manufacturing industry.

Such business should be regulated

Igbos produce shoes, cars, clothing and even petrochemical products.

But, make Nigeria WORK and you will see Igbos massively invest in the full scale production of ' all and sundry' products. We are versatile and will adapt to any condition necessary for our survival.

Igbo business is mainly importations of which substandard goods are included all this affects the economy badly.
And it also kills our growing technology industries. Since we can't beat chinese cheap product.
Well our useless government caused this

Lol, jealousy on display.

You produce NOTHING , zero - so remain quiet.

Igbos produce and they also import.

Igbos import according to the financial well being of Nigerians, which means they import both expensive and cheap products. The later is for broke people and the former for those who can afford.

For example, if most Nigerians cannot afford macbooks that cost an average of N1 million Naira it does not make business sense to mass import these items, instead you import a few for those who can afford them and then buy other affordable products for the generals masses in different price ranges.

You must learn to understand an Investor and a trader

Ibos are mere traders not entrepreneurs and investors

Local economy hardly benefits from Ibos trade,

Profit of trade goes to Ibo man sent to his village, Chinese manufacturers who produce the cheap goods, and the only money that stays in the community is few naira that Ibo rents his small shop from the host and land Lords

Learner who needs to improve his current level of education.

- Buying real estate and renting out or converting into businesses is an investment.
- Buying and selling used and new cars is an investment.
- Buying and selling on a large scale is an investment which also improves local economies - even a primary school pupil knows this
- Bank savings is an investment and Igbos have massive savings in Northern and Western banks
- Air travel is a form of investment which also facilitates trade nationally
- Not all spare parts are from China, many are original parts or used parts from original manufacturers
- Even if we buy parts from China, is it not better than having nothing to maintain your old cars with? Don't you know that the market for cheap spare parts is because many of you cannot afford the real thing or newer cars?
- Igbos also invest in electronics, clothing, agriculture, pharmaceutical products etc.

Igbos invest BIG

Don't let jealousy becloud your judgement.

Politics / Igbos Do Not Want To Bring Nigeria Down, Igbos Want To Take Nigeria Upward by GodHatesBigots(m): 2:08pm On Dec 31, 2021
Did you know that there are some poorly educated folks on this forum who say that Igbos are flooding Nairaland will bad news about Nigeria and that they support more chaos, because they want Nigeria to go down? There are also other ignoramuses who are fanatically beholden to a certain presidential candidate at the expense of healthy discourse, logic and pragmatism. They will use every trick in the book to deflect from the truth and this often includes spreading unfounded, poorly researched and many times, concocted fables about Igbos and their doings or undoing’s, usually in a negative light. These are the ones who are at the core of the mess we are currently witnessing, experiencing and coping with in Nigeria. They don't want fresh blood or new ideas; they are biased bigots who will support a washed out man for religious and tribal reasons even though it will be devasting for Nigeria and its indigenous peoples.

Now, I want to tell you directly that Igbos want Nigeria to go UPWARD, and this is evident in the pervasiveness of our investments across the country. We invest in the North, in the West and in the South. No other tribe does this on the same scale and with the same degree of pragmatism and dedication. Igbos invest because they want to improve their lives and that of their families and extended families and relatives.

There are several benefits of this approach - for example, the indigenous populations who are employed by Igbos, investments in real estate and small business startups; the boosting of local economies; promoting national unity and improving cultural awareness and understanding.

However, a chaotic Nigeria, a terrorist infiltrated Nigeria, a Nigeria with poor infrastructure and non-existent security is a threat to the progress of Igbos as a people. Furthermore, the spreading of violence through land grabs and mass rape, pillaging and murder is a grave threat not only to the development that Igbos so earnestly work towards, but for their existence as a people. Therefore, Igbos complain, sometimes bitterly and they will often rise and form groups to defend their interests, land and people.

Igbos want the best for Nigeria, we want Nigeria to go from its current state of anarchy, religious myopia and fanaticism to join the modern world where every human being present in that contraption can be a beneficiary of peace, security, development, progress and prosperity.

So, next time, before you display your abject ignorance on a public forum and half-baked education - take some time to think, reason, reflect and contemplate on these succinct points I have raised.

Mind you, not all Igbos support a Biafra or segregation from Nigeria which I personally think will do us no good. We just want a functioning Nigeria.

Thank You.

Politics / Nigeria: Northern Discontent And The History Of Boko Haram by GodHatesBigots(m): 1:33pm On Dec 31, 2021
Boko Haram is not the first radical Islamist organisation to have emerged in northern Nigeria that denounces ‘Western education’ and calls for a return to religious rule to purify society of its social ills.

There have been several — both violent and non-violent — social movements, usually formed around a specific preacher, who have either rose up against the government and religious establishment, or tried to establish small communities governed by strict Sharia law. These have included, for example, the Talakawas in the 1940s and 1950s, the Yan Tatsine in the 1960s and 1970s, Darul Islam and followers of the Ndimi mosque in the early 2000s, to name a few.

This is an important point to highlight to better understand the historical, economic and political drivers that led to the emergence of Boko Haram. If not addressed, they will likely give rise to similar organisations in the future.

Northern Nigeria has been profoundly influenced by religion and politics, the former often being used as a dialect of social organisation in relation to the latter. By 1903, the Borno Sultanate and powerful Sokoto Caliphate, which ruled over an area which would now include southern Cameroon, Niger and northern Nigeria, came under British control.

However, as Moses Ochonu writes, typical of British colonial strategy, the British “came to northern Nigeria desirous of identifying and collaborating with a group of rulers representing a cultural and political entity that they deemed ‘civilised’ and sophisticated enough to be partners in the colonial project. The Hausa-Caliphate world view and those who best represented it — the Hausa-Fulani emirs and the Caliphate aristocracy — were recruited into this role.”

These circumstance created early opposition to Western influence by indigenous populations who began to distrust the Hausa-Fulani elite due to their apparent co-option by the British colonial administration. Furthermore, Christian missionaries who used Western education as a mechanism for evangelism were viewed with additional suspicion by local northern populations.

As Femi Owolade writes, “The Western influence of British colonialists caused a division among the people of Northern Nigeria, who were once united by Islam. This division saw, on one side, the so-called 'civilised' — by Western standards — elite who were used by the British as agents of colonisation; and on the other side, the commoners, who vehemently resisted Western influence in the region.”

In the 1940s, a popular social movement known as the Talakawas (commoners) formed in northern Nigeria. The movement’s leader, Aminu Kano, led an Islamic uprising against British colonialists and the ruling elite. As Ira Lapidus writes, “Kano’s criticism was directed not only at Britain but also against the native establishment... The party rallied teachers, clerks, servants, petty traders, craftsmen, workers, and lesser ‘ulama’ to oppose colonial rule.”

In the 1970s and 1980s, several more fundamentalist organisations began to emerge in opposition to the state, such as the Yan Tatsine, led by the radical preacher Mohammed Marwa. Marwa reviled Western education and went as far to denounce the use of radios, bicycles and watches. He received the nickname ‘Maitatsine’, which translates from Hausa as ‘the one who curses’, due to his fondness of making curse-laden speeches against the Nigerian state, who he saw as irredeemably corrupt and beholden to Western powers.

He slowly grew a following of religious scholars, youths, unemployed migrants and others who felt mainstream Muslim leaders were not doing enough for their communities. As his following grew so did the frequency of confrontations with the police.

By 1980, Yan Tatsine reprisal attacks against religious figures and the police forced the Nigerian army to become involved, and they killed Marwa. Subsequent clashes between his adherents and the authorities led to the death of around 5000 people.

The birth of Boko Haram

While the name Boko Haram, which loosely translates from the Hausa as “Western Education is evil/forbidden”, may sound slightly absurd to an outsider, it is appropriate if one considers the established narrative the organisation is drawing on – that the Nigerian state is morally corrupt, fueled by greed, and beholden to the Christian West. In the colonial period, British or ‘Western’ education systems were at the core of the inequality, repression, domination and exploitation that characterised colonialism – as only a favoured ethnic elite had access to English and Christian schools that enabled commercial and professional career advancement and access to power.

The group that would come to be known as Boko Haram was founded by Yusuf Mohammed in 2002 in Maiduguri, the capital of the northeastern state of Borno. Like Mohammmed Marwa and the Yan Tatsine, Yusuf Mohammed sought to gather impressionable youth who felt abandoned by the government and disenfranchised by an economic system which favoured only a politically connected elite. He offered a sense of hope through religious commitment and sketched out a simple picture of an enemy at which their anger and discontent could be focused. Yusuf spent several years during the 1990s in Saudi Arabia, meeting with like-minded Salafi preachers, before returning to Nigeria and travelling around the northeast, preaching against the Nigerian state and citing spiritual corruption as the cause of Borno’s ills.

"Like Mohammmed Marwa and the Yan Tatsine, Yusuf Mohammed sought to gather impressionable youth who felt abandoned by the government and disenfranchised by an economic system which favoured only a politically connected elite."

As Andrew Walker writes, “Yusuf was one of thousands of Almajiri children – religious students who beg on the streets for a living. But by the early 2000s he had found a place as a leader of the youth wing of a Salafist group at Maiduguri’s popular Alhaji Muhammadu Ndimi mosque.” He was deeply opposed to any Western form of democracy and cited the education system, put in place by the Christian British during colonial rule, as the wellspring of corruption and social ills. Chris Kwaja asserts that with regard to Boko Haram, the “religious dimensions of the conflict have been misconstrued as the primary driver of violence when, in fact, disenfranchisement and inequality are the root causes”.

Between 2005 and 2009, Yusuf established a sect at a compound in Maiduguri’s Railway District, consisting of hundreds of followers, most of whom were unemployed and impoverished Islamic students, clerics, university students, and others. This sect was, by most accounts, non-violent and more interested in practicing and preaching an austere form of Salafism then violence. However, like the Yan Tatsine before them, as the Yusuffiya grew in numbers and influence so did the sect’s run-ins with local police.

On 20 February 2009, a disagreement between a convoy of Yusuffiya and local police turned violent, leading to the deaths of several members. Things quickly escalated in the following months. Yusuf’s farm and the sect’s headquarters in the Ibn Taymiyyah mosque compound were raided by police. In response, the sect took to the streets, killing any police and soldiers they found, as well as scores of civilians. Mohammed Yusuf was captured by the military and handed over to the police who summarily executed him in front of the police station and a group of journalists who captured the event on camera. The group scattered and went into hiding but emerged in 2011 under the new leadership of Abubakar Shekau, Yusuf’s second-in-command.

Boko Haram had evolved from the remnants of a radical sect to a fully-fledged terrorist group and immediately began to wage the bloody insurgency which, up until today, has claimed the lives of thousands of civilians and displaced millions.

Politics / Revealed! How Rich Elite Use Weapons, Drugs To Fuel Nigeria’s Insecurity – Hamza by GodHatesBigots(m): 11:14am On Dec 30, 2021
Major Hamza Al- Mustapha (retd), ex- Chief Security Officer to former Nigerian military ruler, General Sani Abacha, has alleged that powerful and rich elite supply Nigerian youth weapons and drugs to perpetuate the insecurity bedevilling the country, for them to secure access to its mineral resources.

Al-Mustapha said the people behind kidnappings and banditry in Nigeria were so influential that they can join hands to fight government in cahoots with their local and foreign collaborators, warning that they would do anything and everything to protect their source of income.

The former CSO said dealing with them would require the contribution of all the patriots in the country, adding that government would have to step on toes to address the security situation.

Speaking in a VOA Hausa interview, monitored in Kaduna Wednesday, Al-Mustapha said, “it is high time that every patriotic Nigerian, anyone who has Nigeria, Africa or the world at heart, everyone, should stand up and make personal contributions. Things are not moving as expected. There are people spending their money to cause crisis and it appears they are succeeding.

“From the way they have access to weapons today in Africa, and different kinds of drugs, and from the kind of people that are given such things and they are using it, these have shown that the strength they have has started to overpower the laws of African countries, especially here in Nigeria. That is why I delved on these issues and other issues pertaining to world affairs.”

Al-Mustapha said many bad things were happening in the country as some few individuals have become so powerful to have acquired the means of exploring, refining and exporting the nation’s mineral resources without recourse to government, it’s laws and its support.

He alleged that the few Nigerians benefitting from the country’s mineral resources seemed to be unstoppable.

“If you want to stop them, they are ever ready to use all means at their disposal to fight you. They can even do that in collaboration with their local and foreign allies. They are powerful and can fight any government that tries to stop them.

“Fighting them will require tact, reverting the laws and educating those carrying out the laws and those in government. They should know where they lag behind and where they are found wanting.

“If this arises, if things are to be corrected, toes must be stepped upon, people must be shown the right thing to do so that peace and harmony would be restored,” he said.

Politics / Bandits Attack Police Escort, 20 Vehicles, Abduct Over 50 Travellers In Kaduna by GodHatesBigots(m): 3:54pm On Dec 22, 2021
The incident occurred at about 11am and it was learnt that most of the victims were traders on their way to Kano.

Bandits on Wednesday abducted scores of travellers along Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Highway after attacking their convoy.

The incident occurred at about 11am and it was learnt that most of the victims were traders on their way to Kano.

Daily Trust reports that a community leader identified as Muhammadu Umaru, said that four of his neighbours were abducted.

He added that the vehicles attacked were about 20 which were led by a police escort.

“We have about 70 of our traders from Udawa town alone and there are others from neighbouring towns in the convoy that was attacked between Udawa and Buruku along the highway.

“My neighbours were involved because we call their phones and a bandit picked the call,” he said.

It was gathered that some of the traders that ran into the bush called their relations to inform them of the situation.

The state Police Command’s spokesman, Jalige Mohammed, promised to comment on the incident after finding out details.

Kaduna State has been facing bandits’ attacks for a while and the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, said his administration’s intention was to kill all bandits.

He said this on Tuesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on the recent bandits’ attack that claimed 40 lives in the state.

The governor, accompanied by the state Commissioner for Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, said the bandits’ whereabouts were not hidden, but that the military was mindful of the collateral damage it could cause the civilian community.

Politics / Associated Press - Gunmen Kill 47 In Latest Attacks In Nigeria’s Troubled North by GodHatesBigots(m): 11:54am On Dec 20, 2021
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Nigerian security forces are searching for armed gangs who killed 47 people in attacks in recent days in rural areas of the country's northwest, the latest killings in the troubled region.

The attacks took place in the northwest Kaduna state which neighbors Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, Kaduna commissioner for security Samuel Aruwan confirmed.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks but they are suspected to be by the gangs of bandits who have killed at least 2,500 people in the northwest and central states so far in 2021, according to statistics collated by the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations. The attacks have escalated in the past three months so the death toll for the entire year is expected to increase.

The armed groups mostly consist of young men from the Fulani ethnic group who had traditionally worked as nomadic cattle herders and have become caught up in a decades-long conflict with Hausa farming communities over access to water and grazing land.

Security forces deployed after the attacks are patrolling the affected areas, but no arrests have been announced and details are still emerging. Local residents reported that the assailants rampaged for hours in some of the villages.

Nine people were killed across three villages on Friday, according to Kaduna commissioner Aruwan, a reminder of how the armed groups are able to carry out prolonged assaults in remote locations where help is often delayed as a result of inadequate security presence.

Another 38 people were killed on Sunday by assailants in another part of Kaduna, Aruwan confirmed.

Houses, trucks, and cars were burned, along with agricultural produce at some farms, he said.

The ongoing violence in Nigeria’s troubled northwestern region has defied measures introduced by authorities including the deployment of thousands of security forces to restore peace in violent hotspots and the recent designation of the armed groups as terrorist organizations.

Part of the problem is that Nigeria's military is already overstretched in a decade-long war against Islamic extremist rebels in the northeast region. The rebels of Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State in West Africa Province are reported to have infiltrated the armed bandits of the northwest as they seek to expand their influence and control, according to local authorities.

Politics / Insecurity: DSS Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot To Destabilise Nigeria by GodHatesBigots(m): 3:21pm On Dec 14, 2021
The Department of State Services (DSS), on Tuesday, raised the alarm over alleged plots by certain groups and individuals to cause a breakdown of law and order in the country as the Yuletide celebration approaches

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the Spokesperson of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya, however, warned those behind the dastardly act to retrace the steps as the service would deal with them and their collaborators decisively according to the law of the land.

Afunaya lamented that many simply “want to use the present situation in the country to cause divisions among citizens, seek cheap popularity and/or present the country as ungovernable.”

He stated that this was more so as the service had observed that some persons who were desperately seeking power use wrong and skewed narratives to not only mislead citizens but overheat the polity.

He added that already, such persons were exploiting and politicising the issue of insecurity in parts of the country for pecuniary and other selfish reasons.

He also raised the alarm that recessing members of the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly and other public and private sector workers on vacation may be predisposed to threats of various degrees.

Afunaya pointed out this also applied to Nigerians “who may travel from within and outside the country to join their loved ones for the celebrations.”

According to him, “these individuals are susceptible to kidnapping, hijack, assassinations, armed robbery and political manipulations

“The Service, therefore, warns that those who are involved in this evil plot of destabilising the country should desist from such acts. It also enjoins politicians to play by the rule and avoid statements or activities capable of inflaming the fires of division and violence prior to the 2023 elections. Opinion moulders like the clergy, religious and traditional rulers are also to guard their utterances and avoid inciting pronouncements.

“In a related development, it is common knowledge that criminal elements will heighten their inglorious activities before, during and after the festive periods.

“Therefore, religious and community leaders, hoteliers and operators of markets, parks, recreational and relaxation centres are to be at alert and watch strange movements and activities around their facilities.

“Such facilities include places of worship, palaces, markets, schools and other public buildings. Owners and operators of these public spaces and their patrons should endeavour to isolate and report suspected rogues to security agencies for a prompt response. Consequently, the Service’s interactive website and complaint lines will remain active and available to the public. Its formations at the State and Local Government levels will be open 24 hours of the day. This is in line with the Service’s commitment and support to the populace.

“As schools vacate and students return home for holidays, there is a likelihood that subversive gangs will target them for recruitment for undesirable intents. These may include but not limited to financial crimes, armed robbery, civil disobedience and violent protests, substance abuse, banditry and kidnapping.

“In this respect, parents and guardians are advised to be watchful of their children and wards and ensure that they do not engage in unlawful acts. Aside from students, recessing members of National Assembly/State Houses of Assembly and other public/private sector workers on vacation may be predisposed to threats of various degrees. This also applies to Nigerians who may travel from within and outside the country to join their loved ones for the celebrations

“These individuals are susceptible to kidnapping, hijack, assassinations, armed robbery and political manipulations. They are advised to be security conscious in order not to fall victim to these attacks and destructive political manoeuvres.

“Let me reiterate at this juncture that those who sponsor kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, insurgency and all kinds of attacks on security agents, civilians and vulnerable populations should have a rethink.

“These persons, whether in the North or South, know themselves. There is no doubt that they have crossed the lines and it is now time to crush them.”

The Service also accused the legal team of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, of misleading the public with fake news about how their client was allegedly being maltreated in custody.

Afunaya pointed out that contrary to what was being peddled, Kanu was not being starved or ill-treated in any way.

According to him, “on IPOB and the alleged ill-treatment of its detained leader, the Service has, without any fear of contradiction, applied restraint in making public statements over the matter.

“The reason is simply because it avoids joining issues especially over a matter that is sub-judice. But for the sake of transparency and democratic accountability, the Service has decided to make some clarifications.

“It (the Service) denies all the inciting allegations by IPOB and states that:

“Nnamdi Kanu is not, in any way, maltreated in custody. Accusations of maltreatment negate the Service’s Standard Operation Procedure on the implementation of rights of a suspect;

“Nnamdi Kanu enjoys full luxury in the holding facility incomparable to any of its type anywhere in the country. He is accorded full rights and privileges. He is never denied his right of worship or freedom from his select religious practice.

“Adequate attention is paid to Kanu’s health. He has unhindered access to the best medical care and doctors. Kanu, himself, has confirmed to his visitors that the Service has never, in any way, maltreated him.

He even confirmed this to the quartet of Senators Ike Ekweremadu and Enyinnaya Abaribe; Bishop Sunday Onuoha of the Methodist Church, Nigeria and Co-Chair, Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace and Ambassador Okechukwu Emuchay, MFR, Secretary-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who saw him on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

“The story of Kanu being starved is fallacious. He could not have been starved as he enjoys meals of his choice. That he is not allowed a change of clothing is also false. He is regularly allowed change of clothing as against what is presented to the public by IPOB propagandists. Assuming he is being maltreated, how come his visitors told him he was looking well? All the allegations of violation of his rights as a suspect, victimization and starvation among others are not true.

“It is unfortunate that some elements have decided to use outright misinformation to represent the state of affairs. Those who make these false stories do so to attract undue attention for the singular purpose of achieving the desired end. Rather than focus on how he should get justice, Kanu’s legal team and some mischievous elements among them have chosen to use fake news to mislead the public. While the Court in its wisdom ordered that Kanu be remanded in the safer DSS Custody, some of his legal representatives, for reasons best known to them, preferred Kuje Prison and have failed to explain the rationale for such choice.

“It may interest the public to note that a particular lawyer among Kanu’s Team is feasting on the matter such that one can conclude that his interest is beyond getting justice for his client. Be that as it may, the Court has the final say on the matter.

“Instructively, the media is reminded of its duty in national security. As influencers, media practitioners are called upon to use their platforms to pursue peaceful coexistence. They must commit themselves to the unity of the country and shun misinformation, fake news, hate speech and other misleading narratives. Journalists, while discharging their constitutional roles, are enjoined to be objective, conflict-sensitive and patriotic in their reportage.

“Overall, citizens and residents are advised to cooperate with security and law enforcement agencies for lasting peace in the country. They should be wary of efforts designed from within and outside the shores of the country to misdirect or use them to undermine public order. Therefore, they should exercise caution in the way and manner they may conduct their affairs during the festivities and beyond. On its part, the Service will continue to collaborate with other sister agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure that all law-abiding citizens and residents pursue their legitimate businesses without hindrances.

“While it has become expedient to issue these warnings and advisories, the Service maintains that it will not hesitate to deal, in accordance with the law, with those who may wish to test its resolve in ensuring internal security and national stability before, during and after the yuletide. For those that wish to, they must note that nemesis and the long hands of the law will definitely catch up with them. For emphasis, no one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to take laws into his or her hands.

“Finally, the DG, Management and Staff of the DSS appreciate everyone who has supported the Service in its effort to ensure peace and security in the country. Let us remember that security is the responsibility of everyone. Let us support security agencies to achieve the desired peace for our country. We wish every one of you and indeed all Nigerians a hitch-free yuletide season. As we look forward to a new year, we wish you a prosperous 2022.”

If I tell people that Nigerians are the ones making the country hell for the citizens ,and not the politicians as always claimed they attack me.

Nigerians are naturally wicked people

The people are the politicians - the politicians are the people. Both groups are unrepentantly greedy, corrupty, evil and shameless. God's judgement has only just started. Wait and see.

Tens of thousands of churches and and mosques with some of the most evil people on this planet .

"Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption! They have forsaken the LORD; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him" - Isaiah 1:4

shocked

The way Afonja's are swift and quick to betray their own is alarming.
Igboho stood for them against banditry, terrorism and tyranny, yet they allowed him to languish in a prison where we don't even know if he is dead or alive.

But if it is IPOB or South-Eastern affairs, they masturbate all over the place with rubbish and trashy comments.
Very weak people who have been hiding behind those Nothern Fulani's since time immemorial.

Tueh!

Cowards is what some of them are and betrayers of their own people - usually the Fulani slaves amongst them .

Politics / Chief Imam, 10 Others Kidnapped In Sokoto During Prayers by GodHatesBigots(m): 12:04am On Dec 12, 2021
Bandits have kidnapped 11 persons including a chief imam, Aminu Garba, who was preparing to lead Juma’at congregational prayer at Gatawa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The Imam was kidnapped along with three others on Friday, a report by Daily Trust said.

The assailants also blocked the Sabon Birni-Gatawa Road on Saturday, shot three persons and kidnapped seven others.

The member representing Sabon Birni South Constituency in the state's House of Assembly, Sa’idu Ibrahim, who confirmed the attack, said the injured persons were currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Wamakko.

He said another woman, who was shot at Dama Village, had her leg amputated because it could not be fixed.

When contacted, spokesperson for the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, said he would contact the officer in charge of the area and get back to our reporter but he had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari vowed that his regime would flush out bandits from the country.

Buhari had given the assurance on Friday when a Nigerian Government delegation paid a visit to Governor Aminu Tambuwal over the killing of 23 travellers by suspected bandits.
