Nigeria Police Force Intensifies Internal Cleansing, Dismisses Corrupt Officers, Prosecutes Personnel Involved in Kidnapping, Robbery, Extortion GODSPOWERPROJECT/NAOSNP The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, accountability, and institutional reform with the dismissal, arrest, and prosecution of police personnel found involved in cases of conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, stealing, and abuse of office in Rivers State and its environs, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report. The Force notes that the actions of the affected officers represent a gross betrayal of the ethics, standards, and professional values of the Nigeria Police Force. The leadership of the Force under the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, remains resolute in its determination to identify, expose, and remove criminal elements from within the institution, irrespective of rank or position. Investigations into one of the cases uncovered a criminal syndicate involving serving police officers attached to Zone 16 Headquarters, Yenagoa, namely Inspector Ayanniyi Jelili, Inspector Durojaye Francis, and Inspector Olayemi Titus, who allegedly engaged in armed robbery, kidnapping, and extortion while operating illegal patrols within Port Harcourt. The officers reportedly abducted victims during unlawful stop-and-search operations, forcefully gained access to their banking and cryptocurrency applications, and extorted millions of naira from them. The investigation led to the arrest of the three officers, while three other accomplices identified as Inspector Awele Ogbogu, Inspector Prosper Aghotor, and Corporal Favour Onwuchekwa are currently at large. Exhibits recovered include three Toyota Sienna buses used for the illegal operations and the sum of ₦7,338,800.00 traced to the criminal activities. Findings further revealed that the suspects operated with firearms and had allegedly carried out similar operations against unsuspecting members of the public within Rivers State. In a separate investigation, the Force uncovered another criminal syndicate involving officers formerly attached to the Department of Operations, Rivers State Command, namely Inspector John Okoi, Inspector Eyibo Asuquo, Inspector Udo Ndipmong, Inspector Bright Nwachukwu, and Inspector Anele Ikechukwu, who engaged in organised acts of kidnapping, extortion, stealing, and official corruption. The dismissed officers were found to have routinely abducted citizens, extorted money through unlawful transfers from victims’ bank and cryptocurrency accounts, and dispossessed them of valuables while operating under the guise of official patrol duties. Consequently, the five implicated officers were subjected to orderly room proceedings and dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, while the case file has been forwarded for prosecution on charges bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, official corruption, and related offences. Members of the public are encouraged to continue reporting cases of police misconduct, abuse of office, extortion, and human rights violations through established complaint channels for prompt investigation and action. The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to a professional, transparent, accountable, and service-driven policing system firmly rooted in the rule of law and the protection of citizens’ rights. GODSPOWERPROJECT My Parents Never Beat My Siblings And I And I don’t say that lightly, especially in a culture where spanking is often seen as the “normal” way to raise children. But that was not our story. We were raised in love, not fear. In guidance, not violence. In correction, not intimidation. And yet, my siblings and I grew up with discipline. We learned respect. We learned boundaries, responsibility, and how to carry ourselves well. Nothing about us came from fear, but everything was still shaped with intention. Unpopular opinion, especially in many Nigerian spaces: you don’t have to beat your children to raise them well. And I am deeply grateful. Because what my siblings and I received was not fear dressed as parenting; it was love expressed with wisdom, patience, and consistency. Even today, I don’t just remember it — I honour it. GODSPOWERPROJECT Nigeria has lost one of its most prominent voices in sickle cell advocacy following the passing of Toyin Ibidunni Adesola, the founder of the Sickle Cell Advocacy and Management Initiative (SAMI) whose lifelong commitment to humanity transformed countless lives within the sickle cell community. Her passing, announced jointly by the Adesola Family, and SAMI, marks the close of a defining chapter in Nigeria’s campaign for greater awareness, improved healthcare, social inclusion, and support for persons living with sickle cell disorder. For six decades (Sept. 1, 1965 - May 11, 2026), Toyin Adesola lived with sickle cell, standing stoutly at the forefront of advocacy for sickle cell warriors and their families, devoting her life to public enlightenment, counseling, support initiatives, and policy engagement aimed at improving the quality of life for people living with the condition. Through resilience and compassion, she became one of the most respected and recognizable figures in Nigeria’s healthcare advocacy landscape. As Founder of SAMI, she built an institution that evolved into a beacon of hope and a safe space for countless families navigating the physical, emotional, and social realities of sickle cell disorder. The organisation became widely known for its awareness campaigns, advocacy programmes, support interventions, and efforts aimed at reducing stigma while promoting genotype education and early detection. Beyond SAMI, her influence resonated strongly across the broader advocacy community. As the longest-serving Chairman of the Coalition of Sickle Cell NGOs, she played a pivotal role in fostering collaboration among advocacy groups and healthcare stakeholders, helping to harmonize a united front on sickle cell issues. Her extraordinary dedication to the cause earned her admiration across civil society, the medical community, and humanitarian circles, with many affectionately referring to her as the Sickle Cell General, a title that reflected both her courage and her tireless commitment to the struggle for better care and dignity for sickle cell patients. Associates and members of the advocacy community have continued to pay glowing tributes to her life and legacy, describing her as a compassionate leader, mentor, mobiliser, and a rallying point for the sickle cell community. In their statement, the Adesola Family and SAMI described her as “a pillar of strength to families battling sickle cell disorder, a source of hope to countless warriors, and a woman whose life embodied service, empathy, and sacrifice.” The statement added that her enduring legacy would continue to inspire future generations of advocates and humanitarian workers committed to the sickle cell cause. “Though she has departed this world, her voice will continue to resonate through the movement she helped build, the lives she touched, and the hope she gave to thousands.” Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in the coming days. AKEM Foundation at 4: How the Ogunsans Turned Parents' Memory into a Social Institution • as 5 Business Start-ups Emerge Winners with Grant Prizes worth over NGN 6 million GODSPOWERPROJECT What began four years ago as a heartfelt tribute by four siblings determined to immortalize the values of their late parents has today blossomed into one of the most inspiring family-driven impact initiatives in Lagos. At the 4th Anniversary of the AKEM Foundation held in Lagos today 9th May, the atmosphere was not merely celebratory; it was visionary and deeply symbolic of what legacy truly means in a society increasingly searching for moral direction and sustainable philanthropy. Founded by Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan alongside his siblings, Abiodun, Aduke, and Folorunsho Ogunsan, the AKEM Foundation was conceived as a living memorial to late Engr. Akinola Ogunsan and Madam Emiola Ogunsan whose passion for education, discipline, enterprise, and compassion shaped not only their children but countless lives around them. From supporting just four organizations at inception in 2023, to widening its intervention into education, entrepreneurship and business empowerment in 2025, AKEM Foundation has steadily evolved into a structured humanitarian platform touching education, social welfare, enterprise development, youth mentorship, and community transformation. But beyond the grants, scholarships, and empowerment programmes lies the deeper story: the deliberate institutionalization of family values. In his opening remarks, the Chairman of AKEM Foundation, Dr. Ogunsan recalled his late parents, Engr. Akinola and Mrs. Emiola Ogunsan, "22 years ago, 5th May we lost our mom, Mrs. Emiola and 4 years after, our father died. If one couple dies, except there is no love, that is the day the other couple also dies. I remember how he would tell me 'Ayo look at the time, is it right for a woman to leave home and not be back by now'. I was naive and not well-informed about how to be matured in such circumstances, I will just tell him straight, 'Dad, our mother is dead' It was later that I realized that I should have used wisdom to talk to him, such emotional moments. This is why about 5 years ago, myself and my siblings decided that we must keep this legacy alive having been tutored by these wonderful beings. We are a product of good parenting. The parents we are celebrating today got it right. We are four children and we are all doing what they taught us to do." On the thrust of the AKEM Foundation, he continued: "One of my parents, my dad is passionate about education and the other, my mother, is passionate about entrepreneurship. So we started this journey by putting our resources together to help people who do have opportunities to progress either academically or sustain their business. It is an open competition, we don't try to influence it. This year, we got 71 applications which were reduced to 46 then to 21 and now 5 finalists. These are young Nigerians not known to us, we have never met them, we just threw the opportunity into the public space and now the first prize winner will go home with NGN1.5million, the second prize is N1.25 Million, the third prize is NGN1 million, the 4th prize is NGN 750,000 and the 5th prize is NGN 500,000" On his part, the MD/CEO of AKEM Foundation, Mr. Abiodun Ogunsan expanded further on the organizational impact of AKEM Foundation. He said: "We are not just building an organization. We are building hope, transforming lives and shaping a future where no dream is limited by lack of opportunity. Our mission is noted in education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable empowerment to ensure that the youths are equipped to rise above challenges and become catalysts of change in their communities. At AKEM Foundation, we remain committed to creating pathways for growth, dignity, and self-reliance, we believe empowerment is not just about giving. It is about enabling people to stand tall, thrive, and impact others positively." The five finalists who emerged out of 71 initial applications were physically present at the Anniversary event to pitch their business ideas before a 4-man panel comprising Ezekiel Ishola, manager at Standard Chartered Bank, Prof. Festus Ope Davies, Dr. Wunmi Alabi from LUTH, and Dr. Moses Oladimeji, the LSSTF-CACCOV State Coordinator and an engaging audience with over 300 in attendance. The pitch competition produced Adetolani Amokaye as the First place winner with her grand prize of N1.5 million upgraded to over 2 million by some dignitaries support; Adeola Deborah Agboola emerged 2nd place winner and her NGN 1.25 million was upgraded to almost N2million; the third prize winner Nkechi Gift had her NGN 1 million prize upgraded with immediate 100 orders of her sweet potato products from the Chinese community including access to agricultural products, sales and packaging courtesy Chinese business leader, Madam May Ma; Ekom Gideon Fidelis who came 4th position got 750,000 plus Chinese community support to support his house rental business, and Ajala Tiyinoluwa Busola who emerged 5th position got NGN 500,000 prize. Lagos CP Tijani Appoints LSSTF ES/CEO, Ogunsan as Member, Civilian Oversight Board for newly formed Violent Crimes Response Unit, VCRU GODSPOWERPROJECT For his enduring contributions to security and public safety in Lagos State, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has been appointed as a member of the newly constituted Civilian Oversight Board for the Lagos State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU). The appointment, conveyed in an official letter signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DC Admin, DCP Khan Salihu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olayiwola Fatai, forms part of the ongoing reform initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at repositioning the Nigeria Police Force for greater professionalism, transparency and public trust. According to the Command, Dr Ogunsan’s appointment is expected to strengthen accountability, community participation, strategic engagement, and credible civilian oversight of operations of the new policing unit across Lagos. The appointment letter indicated that the move “comes as part of the ongoing reforms of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at repositioning the Nigeria Police Force.” The Command noted that Dr. Ogunsan’s appointment “is expected to strengthen transparency, accountability and public trust in policing through credible civilian oversight.” The Police further praised the LSSTF boss for his track record in security advocacy and development, stating that “your distinguished contributions to security initiatives and public safety development makes you a valuable addition to the Board.” The letter added that his “experience and insight in security will contribute immensely to enhanced oversight, accountability and strategic engagement between the Police and the public,” expressing confidence that his participation “will significantly strengthen the Board’s mandate and impact.” A respected security strategist and corporate leader, Dr. Ogunsan has played pivotal roles in advancing community policing and security partnerships in Lagos over the years. He is a Patron of the Lagos State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and also previously Chaired the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), where he championed youth advocacy, crime prevention and citizen participation in security governance. Under his leadership, the LSSTF has remained a critical support institution for security agencies in Lagos, providing logistics, operational support and strategic interventions that have significantly boosted crime-fighting capacity in the state.

LSSTF Launches Intelligence Unit; as ES/CEO, Ogunsan Announces Messaging-Only Security Tips Lines 0911 019 5555 & 0916 201 1179 for Lagosians to Provide Informations, Videos, Pictures Evidences GODSPOWERPROJECT In a rapidly expanding megacity like Lagos, intelligence gathering is fast becoming the backbone of effective policing. Assisted by modern security frameworks such as CCTVs, phone cameras, Ray-Bans, and so on, modern intelligence doesn't rely on the surveillance boots of law enforcement officers on the streets, but on the active participation of citizens who serve as the eyes and ears within communities. Timely, credible information can mean the difference between prevention and response, disruption and damage. It is against this backdrop that the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, (LSSTF) under the Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan has stepped forward with a strategic intervention aimed at bridging the gap between the public and security agencies. Recognising the challenges many residents face in relaying actionable intelligence, the Fund has introduced its first of it kind LSSTF Intelligence Unit with dedicated phone numbers that will serve Messaging-Only purposes so as to harness grassroots information in video, picture, and audio messaging formats and promptly channel them to the appropriate security agencies, thereby strengthening the state’s overall security architecture. At a press conference held today at the LSSTF's Headquarters, Alausa Secretariat Ikeja, the Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, formally announced the establishment of the LSSTF Intelligence Unit, describing it as a significant milestone in the collective effort to safeguard lives and property. “Today marks a significant step forward in our collective commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State,” Ogunsan said. “The Lagos State Security Trust Fund is establishing an Intelligence Unit dedicated to receiving security-related information from members of the public and ensuring its timely transmission to relevant security agencies.” Central to this initiative are two dedicated Security Tip Lines - 0911 019 5555 and 0916 201 1179 - through which residents can submit information. According to Ogunsan, the platform is structured to encourage the flow of actionable intelligence while maintaining a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism. “We are pleased to formally announce that this information will be collected through the LSSTF Security Tip Lines,” he stated, emphasizing that the initiative is designed to “strengthen collaboration between the public and security agencies through actionable intelligence.” He underscored the critical role of citizens in the security ecosystem, noting that while security agencies remain at the forefront of maintaining law and order, their effectiveness is greatly enhanced by credible information from the public. “Security is a shared responsibility,” he said. “While our security agencies continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and order, the role of citizens in providing credible information cannot be overstated.” Ogunsan explained that the Intelligence Unit leverages technology to make reporting easier and more impactful. “Through these platforms, individuals can submit information, photographs, and video recordings relating to security concerns within their communities. This initiative leverages the power of technology and citizen participation to enhance situational awareness and support more informed decision-making by relevant authorities.” He was, however, quick to clarify the operational scope of the tip lines. “It is important to clearly state that the LSSTF Security Tip Lines are not emergency response lines. They are designed strictly for information gathering, analysis, and strategic security planning,” he said, urging residents to continue using established emergency channels when immediate intervention is required. Addressing concerns about misuse, the LSSTF boss issued a firm warning against the submission of false or misleading information. “It is critical to emphasize that the effectiveness of this initiative depends largely on the quality and integrity of the information received. We strongly urge all users of the platform to ensure that any material submitted is clear, accurate, and verifiable.” He added, “Let me be unequivocal that any malicious use of this platform, including the submission of false, misleading, or fabricated information, will not be tolerated. Such actions undermine security efforts and may have serious consequences.” Providing further insight during a question-and-answer session, Ogunsan clarified that the initiative is not intended to duplicate the functions of existing security agencies, but rather to complement them. “We are not trying to take the job of Command and Control Centre or other agencies; it is a support from us as an interventionist agency,” he explained. “We don’t just want to give vehicles alone; we want to intervene in things like this for those who are trying to reach out to security agencies but are not able to do so.” He also highlighted a unique feature of the platform. “It is a no-call number. It’s just video messages and pictures to serve as evidence. When we get the information, we filter them out and send to appropriate agencies for immediate actions. We feel they will listen to us more because they know that a lot is at stake.” Reassuring the public, Ogunsan stressed that all credible information would be handled with utmost discretion. “We assure the public that all credible information received through the LSSTF Security Tip Lines will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism,” he said, noting that measures are in place to protect the identity of informants. Describing the initiative as a partnership-driven approach to security, he concluded: “This initiative represents a partnership between government, security agencies, and the people. Together, we can build a safer, more secure Lagos where vigilance is collective, and response is strategic and effective.” With the launch of the Intelligence Unit, LSSTF is not only reinforcing its traditional role as a provider of operational support, but also positioning itself as a critical enabler of intelligence-led policing in Lagos. From Passion to Impact: Sickle Cell NGO, SAMI Celebrates Volunteers at 2026 Retreat, Rallies Nigerians to Donate to #1kforSickle Campaign Psalm 150:6 KJV [6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD In an era where relevance is often attached to momentary gains, foremost health nonprofit, Sickle Cell Advocacy and Management Initiative (SAMI) held its Volunteer Retreat and Awards Ceremony 2026 to spotlight the values of sustained purpose, service, compassion, sacrifice, and discipline. The ceremony, held in Lagos on Saturday 25th April 2026, brought together a remarkable corps of volunteers whose quiet, consistent efforts have shaped lives in ways statistics often fail to capture. It also created the perfect space for reflection while boldly charting the path forward for the sickle cell NGO founded by nonprofit leader, Toyin Adesola in 2008. During the event, a 10million naira crowdfunding campaign tagged #1kforSickle to encourage Nigerians to give a minimum of ₦1,000 to support the organization's effort was launched. Also, 11 award categories were presented to capture the impact of individuals from various spheres of influence who have supported SAMI over the years. These include haematologists, medical doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists, educators, entrepreneurs, IT experts, media executives, and emerging young professionals in different sectors. The event had 4 top speakers including polymath and Founder of Immerse Coaching Company, Debola Deji Kurunmi; clinical psychologist, Sheriff Ajibola Moshobalaje; leadership expert, Director Oluwatoyin Banjo; and co-founder of 9ijakids, Mrs. Titi Adewusi, to forge the awareness of a greater responsibility for impact to the sickle cell community and humanity at large. Delivering one of the most compelling sessions of the Retreat, Debola Deji-Kurunmi challenged the volunteers to rethink their personal growth as a fundamental aspect of their influence to SAMI, family, and community. Deploying the five empires of self-leadership, she emphasized the need for self-mastery, self-direction, self-drive, self-influence, and self-expansion. "It is when you lead yourself well that you can serve others better and advance the mission” she asserted. Noting that "SAMI is moving forward from being a founder-led NGO to a legacy-led institution", the highly sought corporate trainer fondly called DDK, encouraged the volunteers to move from consumer mindset to creator mindset, bring forward their original ideas, make more suggestions, and become more solution-oriented. From a psychological standpoint, Mr. Sheriff Ajibola Moshobalaje brought a refreshing depth to the conversation, focusing on the inner life of a volunteer. His session provided a vital reminder that emotional balance, life satisfaction, and a sense of purpose and fulfillment are hallmarks of a successful life. He addressed the emotional impact as well as the toll that social media could play on mental health, advocating for self-awareness and introspection as critical components for mental resilience and sustainable impact. He highlighted that a state of positive mental health will encompass "emotional, psychological, and social well-being that focuses on how we feel, how we function, and the knowledge that we are separate from our problems." Speaking to the heart of volunteering, Mrs. Titi Adewusi delivered a powerful message focused on Why Team Spirit Matters to Building Trust and Credibility for a Nonprofit. Drawing largely from real stories, she challenged the volunteers to see their opportunities to serve the SAMI mission not only when they show up physically but in everything. Her insights served as a rallying call for volunteers, even as she officially launched the #1kforSickle crowdfunding campaign. In a stirring address on leadership and influence, Director Toyin Banjo underscored the responsibility that comes with the privilege of leading within volunteer ecosystems. She centered her discussion on the 8 Pillars of M.O.B.I.L.I.Z.E. which are the principles of "motivate with meaning, orient and onboard, build belonging, invest in them, lead by example, inspire through impact, zoom in on zeal, and empower and entrust." Her remarks provided a unique perspective into volunteering and urged leadership of the nonprofit to renew their commitment to continually pour into the development of its most valuable human resource team. The Communication Officer of the health nonprofit, Abayomi Oyelami noted that the SAMI Volunteer Retreat & Awards Ceremony was to "honour the passion, sacrifice, and invisible work shaping lives in the sickle cell community, as well as to be a space for growth, learning, and renewed purpose." He indicated that Nigerians who wish to donate to the ongoing #1kforSickle campaign can donate via: A/c name: SAMI 500 by 1M Campaign, GTB - 0208883097 or use the online channels found on the official promotional materials. The SAMI Volunteer Retreat and Awards Ceremony drew to a close with a collective call for volunteers to awaken to a higher order of service, where compassion and goodwill is matched with skill and excellence. Thank You Jesus GODSPOWERPROJECT
