PoliticsRecruitment: Minister Gaidam Expresses Deep Satisfaction by Godspowerpro(op): 12:52pm On Apr 16
Police Recruitment Exercise: Minister of Police Affairs, Gaidam Expresses Deep Satisfaction

Psalm 150:6 KJV‬
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD

The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has expressed deep satisfaction with the conduct of the ongoing recruitment exercises for its orderly and transparent nature across the country.

He made the commendation, according to a statement made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), by the Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister, Lima Goje while receiving feedback from filed officers across the country and described the process as not just a routine exercise, but a critical step toward rebuilding public trust and enhancing the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Minister urged all participants to remain law-abiding, disciplined, and patient throughout the screening process. He emphasized that integrity and respect for due process are as important as physical and academic qualifications, noting that the future of policing in Nigeria depends largely on the character and commitment of those who wear the uniform.

“This is more than recruitment; it is a call to national service,” he stated. “Nigeria needs men and women of honor, individuals who understand that security is the foundation upon which development and prosperity are built.” Gaidam stressed.

The Minister also extended heartfelt appreciation to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for its bold and strategic approval of the recruitment of 50,000 police personnel.

He stressed that the unprecedented move demonstrates a clear resolve to address longstanding gaps in manpower while repositioning the Police Force to meet modern security challenges, just as he noted that beyond numbers, the current administration is focused on meaningful reform—transforming policing into a more professional, accountable, and citizen-centered institution.

Gaidam stated that from improved training frameworks to enhanced welfare and operational support, the reform agenda signals a new era for law enforcement in Nigeria.

The Minister noted that the ongoing recruitment exercise, therefore, stands as a symbol of renewed hope—a bridge between the present challenges and a future where communities feel safer, justice is more accessible, and the rule of law is upheld without compromise.

As the screening continues across the nation, the Minister called on all stakeholders—traditional leaders, community members, and institutions, to support the process and encourage eligible youths to participate with sincerity and patriotism.

“Nigeria’s path to a safer, more secure future is being steadily strengthened through deliberate reforms and renewed commitment to nation-building noting that at the heart of this progress is the ongoing nationwide police recruitment screening exercise, an initiative that reflects both hope and responsibility for thousands of young Nigerians,” the Minister concluded.

PoliticsLSSTF Engages Indigenous Firm, EPAIL Nigeria On Security Hardware by Godspowerpro(op): 12:51pm On Apr 11
‭Psalm 150:6 KJV‬
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has taken a decisive step toward strengthening Nigeria’s domestic security manufacturing ecosystem following a high-level engagement with Equipment and Protective Applications International Limited, EPAIL Nigeria, a leading indigenous defence and security technology company, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, accompanied by Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, met the organization's Chairman/CEO, Engr. Kola Balogun, and Director of Engineering, AVM Olabisi (retd) on a working visit to the company’s factory facility at Lagos/Ibadan Expressway. Discussions centred on strategic collaboration and procurement of high-quality security equipment and gears to kit operatives of various security agencies across Lagos State.

The LSSTF’s proposed procurement plan with EPAIL Nigeria signals a deliberate shift toward local content development, enhancing Made-in-Nigeria policy, and import substitution within the security value chain. By prioritizing indigenous procurement, the Fund aims to conserve foreign exchange, stimulate job creation, and deepen technical capacity within Nigeria’s defence manufacturing sector.

The LSSTF boss, Dr. Ogunsan emphasized 'leveraging local expertise is not only economically prudent but strategically imperative.'

'Indigenous production enables faster delivery timelines, customization to local operational realities, and long-term sustainability of security investments. We are glad to be able to source topgrade security hardware from home,' he said.

Established in 2014, EPAIL Nigeria has distinguished itself as Nigeria’s pioneer ballistic manufacturer, with a dedicated production facility for bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets, and other defence-grade equipment. The company also maintains a robust research and development framework focused on advancing indigenous security technologies and has delivered risk assessment and infrastructure protection solutions across all 36 states of the federation.

Its product range spans personal protective gear, surveillance systems, and advanced security applications tailored for both public and private sector clients. Alongside its adherence to international manufacturing standards, EPAIL Nigeria positions it as a critical player in Nigeria’s evolving defence industrial base.

The engagement reflects a broader policy alignment between security enhancement and economic development, and positions local manufacturing as a cornerstone of national resilience and a catalyst for industrial growth.

[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD

In less than 2 weeks since assuming office as the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olayiwola Fatai has led the Lagos State Police Command to busting a total of 15 crime cases involving 47 suspects. Within the same period, the Command recovered 14 firearms, over 120 rounds of ammunition and cartridges, multiple vehicles, laptops, mobile phones, and other incriminating items, underscoring a broad-based offensive against criminality in the state, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

In operations described as a decisive offensive against criminal networks, a significant portion of these breakthroughs stems from targeted operations against armed robbery rings, cultist gangs, fraudsters, car theft syndicates, and illegal arms possession, the Command's efforts, backed by intelligence-led policing and community collaboration, have disrupted crimes that threatens public safety and economic stability.

Addressing a press briefing attended by members of NAOSNP today Tuesday 7th April, 2026, the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani who resumed on Thursday 26th March highlighted some milestones in his first two weeks. He added that the Easter celebration was hitch-free due to the "Proactive deployment of personnel and strategic positioning of operational assets across critical points, worship centres, recreational
venues, highways, and other public spaces. The Command recorded no major security breach during the period, a testament to our preparedness, vigilance, and collaboration with other security agencies and law-abiding residents
."

Among the notable arrests under the 2-week period in review is that of a wanted armed robbery suspect, Jamiu Yahaya, also known as “Elesin,” apprehended in the Amukoko area. A locally made pistol, live cartridges, and suspected charms were recovered from his residence. In another major operation, police detectives arrested a robbery gang linked to attacks in Ikotun and Egbeda. Acting on technical intelligence, four suspects were apprehended, with weapons recovered and confessional statements obtained.

Similarly, in Egbin and other parts of the state, additional suspects were arrested in possession of firearms and ammunition, further highlighting the widespread crackdown. The Command also recorded the arrest of suspected robbers involved in phone theft operations in Iba, recovering multiple high-end mobile devices. In a related case, suspects linked to a high-profile estate invasion in Lekki where vehicles were vandalized and residents intimidated were apprehended, with luxury vehicles and tools used in the crime recovered.

In a major anti-cultism operation, 21 suspects were arrested at a hotel in Ajao Estate during a gathering linked to the Aiye confraternity. Items recovered included cult-branded materials, mobile phones, and a firearm. Additional arrests were made in Ajegunle, Ifako-Ijaiye, and Ogba, where suspected cultists and illicit drugs were recovered during coordinated raids.

The Command also dismantled a car theft syndicate responsible for stealing and dismantling vehicles for resale. Multiple suspects were arrested, with vehicles including a Toyota Sienna and Toyota Camry recovered. In a related development, suspects involved in vehicle vandalism were apprehended with tools and stolen property.

On the financial crime front, police operatives arrested a 62-year-old suspect linked to a ₦130 million fraud involving a microfinance bank. Investigations revealed that the suspect used the proceeds to acquire luxury vehicles worth over ₦520 million, several of which have now been recovered. In another case, an 18-year-old suspect was arrested while attempting to collect a ₦20 million ransom following threats to life, highlighting the Command’s proactive use of decoy operations to tackle extortion and cyber-related crimes.

Further successes include the arrest of individuals for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as recoveries made during ongoing gun mop-up operations across the state.

These operations, according to the Commissioner, demonstrate the Command’s resolve to dismantle armed robbery networks and restore public confidence in security across Lagos. "I wish to assure Lagosians that under my leadership, the Command will continue to intensify operations and deploy all necessary resources to bring crime
and criminality to the barest minimum. Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the good people of Lagos State for their cooperation, support, and timely provision of credible information, which greatly
contributed to the success recorded."

The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents that all suspects will be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations. Lagosians are urged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to sustain the fight against crime.

LSSTF ES/CEO, Ogunsan Receives Potential International Donor, Shenzhen Comen Medicals to Boost Officers Healthcare and Well-being

‭Psalm 150:6 KJV‬
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD

In a megacity like Lagos where security personnel operate under intense pressure, long hours, and unpredictable conditions, the provision of modern medical support systems is not merely welfare-driven, but strategic. This fact underpins the commitment of the Executive Secretary/CEO of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan to officers' welfare as a cornerstone of effective security delivery when he received the international delegation of Shenzhen Comen Medical Instruments Co. Ltd. who paid a courtesy visit at the LSSTF Headquarters in Ikeja today Tuesday 7th April 2026.

During the visit, the top executives of Shenzhen Comen Medical Instruments Co. Ltd led by Regional Director for Africa, Jeff Zhang, signalled the intention to partner with the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to strengthen healthcare support for security personnel serving assiduously across Lagos. Members of the delegation include the MD/CEO of May Care Hospitals, Ma AiMei among others.

At the heart of their engagement is a growing recognition and shared understanding that the physical and mental fitness of security operatives is directly linked to their effectiveness in safeguarding lives and property. Their discussions centred on proposed donation of critical medical equipment, instruments, and healthcare resources tailored to the needs of officers across multiple security agencies in the state.

Dr. Ogunsan commended the Shenzhen Comen Medical Instruments Co. Ltd for their intended donation which will greatly support the healthcare needs and well-being of officers who are at the frontline of preserving safety and security in Lagos State. He hailed their proposed intervention as a timely response that will strengthen human capital which is the most important factor of the security architecture.

Ogunsan highlighted: "My leadership at the LSSTF has consistently maintained that security funding will not just be limited to operational vehicles, logistics and hardware but deep focus on human capital development. This is what drives operational success. This is why we are focused on constant training and retraining. This is why I am now advocating for the improved health and wellness of officers."

"This shift will bridge critical gaps in occupational healthcare for officers, and sustain operational readiness. This is why I am calling for donors and partnerships to uphold the wellbeing of officers. With access to quality healthcare infrastructure, our officers will be well equipped to do their jobs," he concluded.

PoliticsNational Police Week 2026: CP Tijani Unveils Lines Of Event In Lagos by Godspowerpro(op): 12:22am On Mar 28
Calls for public trust

Psalm 150:6 KJV
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD
.

The Annual National Police Day event has been announced across the federation. The weeklong line-up of events will hold in all 36 states and FCT from Monday 30th March and culminate in a final celebration at the Force Headquarters Abuja on Tuesday 7th April 2026.

Addressing the press today Friday 27th March, on the celebrations which will be held in Lagos State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani unveiled a comprehensive lineup of activities for the 2026 Police Week. He noted that the Week is aimed at rebuilding public trust, promoting community policing, and demonstrating the operational strength of the force. It is also part of efforts to reconnect the Police with the people and reinforce the principle that effective policing depends on collaboration with the community.

He explained that the initiative, which was introduced in recent years but experienced interruptions, is being revived and expanded to align with global best practices in community policing.

According to the Commissioner, the theme of this year’s celebration is "Community Partnership, Building Trust" and it centres on building and sustaining public trust through partnership, noting that trust between the police and the public must be mutual to achieve meaningful results in crime prevention. “The police cannot function effectively without the cooperation of the community. We must build trust, and the public must also see us as partners,” he said.

Tijani stressed that the era of fear and intimidation associated with policing is over, adding that officers have been directed to uphold professionalism, respect human rights, and treat citizens with dignity. “We are not monsters. Even suspects have rights. Our duty is to serve the people with humility and professionalism,” he said.

He outlined a series of activities scheduled throughout the week across commands and divisions in the state. The events will begin with sanitation exercises and a medical outreach programme, where police medical personnel will provide free healthcare services to members of the public.

This will be followed by a road walk involving officers to demonstrate their fitness and readiness, as well as reinforce public confidence in the force’s capacity.

"The programme will also feature sensitization campaigns targeting key societal issues, including electoral violence, cultism, and road safety.

"These campaigns, according to Jimoh, will be held in public spaces such as motor parks and involve stakeholders across different segments of society.

With elections approaching, the Commissioner said it is crucial to educate citizens on the dangers and consequences of electoral violence, while also discouraging young people from engaging in cult-related activities.

He emphasized that community members play a critical role in providing intelligence, noting that collaboration between residents and the police is essential for tackling crime effectively. “Information from the public is key. We rely on the community to help us identify and address criminal activities within their environment,” he said.

As part of the week-long programme, the Command will also honour fallen officers by presenting cheques to their families, reaffirming the force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their loved ones.

Tijani added that the activities will culminate in a grand finale in Abuja on April 7, alongside similar celebrations nationwide.

He called on the media and residents to support the initiative by creating awareness and actively participating in the events, stressing that the success of policing depends on a strong and trusting relationship between the police and the public. “The police are your friends and partners. Together, we can build a safer society,” he said.

The series of programme for the Police Week 2026 are as follows:

Monday, 30th March 2026:
• Sanitation and Environmental Cleaning Exercise across all Area Commands, coordinated by the respective Area Commanders by 09:00am.
• Medical Outreach Programme at Computer Village, Ikeja by 10:00am.

Tuesday, 31st March 2026

PoliticsFormer Coker-Aguda Chairman, Hon. RIO Declares Bid For Lagos Assembly Seat by Godspowerpro(op): 11:28pm On Mar 21
Vows People-Centered Legislation for Surulere Constituency II

Psalm 150:6 KJV
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

By Oki O. Samson

In what is already generating significant grassroots political momentum across Surulere, immediate past Executive Chairman of Coker-Aguda LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Ibrahim Olamilekan, popularly known as RIO, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat representing Surulere Constituency II.

The declaration, made on Saturday, March 21, 2026, positions the youthful and widely regarded grassroots mobilizer and a party loyalist as a strong contender in the evolving political landscape of Lagos State.

At the official declaration on Saturday morning, supporters, community leaders, youth groups, and political stakeholders gathered in large numbers to witness what has been described as the formal transition of a tested local administrator into state-level legislative politics.

A Grassroots Politician with Development Credentials

Hon. Olamilekan’s entry into the race is backed by a track record that spans infrastructure renewal, social welfare interventions, education support, and community-driven security initiatives during his tenure as Council Executive Chairman.

Described by admirers as detribalized and accessible, RIO built a reputation for inclusive governance for all tribes, implementing policies and programs that cut across religious, ethnic, and political divides. His administration’s interventions ranged from road construction and drainage systems to healthcare upgrades and youth empowerment schemes.

In the area of healthcare, his government reconstructed the Orile-Iganmu Primary Healthcare Centre and facilitated multiple medical outreaches in collaboration with the Lagos State Health Management Agency, bringing free medical services closer to residents in underserved communities.

Security Advocacy, Peacebuilding and Policy Direction

A major highlight of his public service profile is his consistent advocacy for sustainable security funding and community peacebuilding. Speaking at an event marking his induction as Patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Southwest Nigeria in 2024, Hon. RIO emphasized the need for a maintenance culture in security investments.

“Buying equipment is not enough,” he noted. “We must make deliberate provisions for maintenance to ensure long-term effectiveness of support to the Nigeria Police Force.”

During his tenure, he provided operational vehicles for Police formations and institutionalized monthly security meetings with Divisional Police Officers and other community stakeholders. These measures were noted to have improved safety coordination across the LCDA and were largely applauded by the community, the Media industry.

His collaboration with security leadership, including engagements with former Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, further reinforced his administration’s proactive approach to tackling crime and improving public safety infrastructure.

Beyond institutional support, Hon. Olamilekan also demonstrated a firm commitment to peace and conflict resolution at the community level. Following incidents of unrest in Orile Iganmu, a densely populated community and cultural hub hosting the National Theatre, he convened a high-level security stakeholders’ meeting involving community leaders, law enforcement agencies, and transport union representatives.

The engagement led to the inauguration of an Enquiry and Peace Taskforce Committee tasked with addressing recurring street clashes in areas such as Awe, Aloko, Alagba, and Memudu streets. The committee, working with the council’s security architecture, was mandated to develop recommendations and drive a comprehensive sensitization campaign across the LCDA.

Describing peace as a collective responsibility, the former Chairman stressed that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of security and mutual coexistence.

Social Intervention and Community Impact

Hon. RIO’s leadership gained widespread attention and commendation from political party leaders during the post-fuel subsidy removal period, when his administration rolled out sustained palliative distributions. Over a six-month period, thousands of residents comprising youths, widows, elderly citizens, and vulnerable groups benefited from food and financial support initiatives.

Unlike many local governments criticized for slow response, Coker-Aguda LCDA under Hon. RIO leadership executed multiple phases of relief distribution, reaching over 12,000 residents. The initiative was widely praised by party leaders, community stakeholders for its transparency, inclusiveness, and consistency.

Recognition and Rising Political Profile

His governance style and impact earned him several accolades, including his induction into the prestigious Trek Africa Hall of Fame as Youth Man of the Year. The recognition placed him alongside notable figures such as Secretary to State Government, Lagos State, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin and Executive Secretary/CEO, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, underscoring his growing influence within Lagos’ political and governance ecosystem.

His emergence as one of the youngest local government chairmen in Lagos helped position him as a symbol of youth inclusion in governance and a bridge between established political structures and the next generation of leaders.

Legislative Vision for Surulere II

In declaring his candidacy, Hon. Olamilekan RIO pledged to take his grassroots governance experience to the legislative arena, with a focus on people-oriented laws, improved infrastructure funding, education access, and community-based security frameworks.

He emphasized that his campaign would be driven by direct engagement with constituents, policy clarity, and a commitment to delivering measurable outcomes.

With a blend of administrative experience, party loyalist, grassroots appeal, and a demonstrable commitment to peace and development, political observers believe his candidacy could significantly shape the contest for Surulere Constituency II.

As the political season gathers pace, attention will be on how his entry reshapes alignments within the constituency and influences the broader dynamics of legislative elections in Lagos State.
