Papi85: Norwegian league is a nursery that have produced quality players for Nigeria and the world in general unlike the Turkish “Hausa” league that use to serve as retirement league and also a league for players (flops) who couldn’t cut it in top European leagues before it all of a sudden turned to laliga here after Osimhen joined Galatasaray
The likes of Chinedu Obasi,Mikel Obi,Ighalo,Adams,Igoh,Boniface etc all started from the Norwegian leagues
Before Osimhen joined Galatasaray no one in here takes players plying their trade in turkey 🇹🇷 serious no matter how jaw dropping their stats are Nursery league 😂 Well that same Turkish league according to some pundits here provided financial stability (income tax free) for some of our ex players like okocha and co. I bet you players like Ndidi and onauchu in future will look back and be grateful to that league that gave them so much lifeline in their career. The Turkish league deserves more respect than lampooning them! They are playing a critical and thankless role for players all over the world who ply their trade there. |

daveP: Low-key, i feel the Chelle situation with NFF is dependent on FIFA verdict for this DRC issue. If we replace DRC Congo, Chelle might be retained or flinged for a foreign manager or anyhow gbasgbos based on feelings. Shebi Chelle contract still runs till end of this year so World Cup just in case is intact! Is whether he will coach the team to the next Afcon is what is in doubt |

Kog45: Osimhen Turkey moved was well detailed, not cuz of finance but Napoli poor treatment of a super star....Yes Awoniyi finances is well managed by his role model Seyi Olofinjana and good parents... present day eagles players are into real estates, they are learning from the mistakes of ex players.... Bright Omokaro had it all in NPFL but I can tell you he is a big man in Ibadan,Felix Owolabi a PHD holder is doing well.I think is all about mindset and discipline I agree cos I watched an interview with segun Odegbami who never played abroad but said his personality and popularity gave him privileges like becoming a huge distributor for one major soft drink company where he made a fortune. So it all boils to personal management at the end of the day! On osihmen not many will agree with you as they think he was more about money than what he faced at Napoli which for me is not even an issue cos owo ni koko me I no send o! FiveFootNinja: I be wan follow you drag but I come remember say true true na agents of witchcraft full NFF. To be clear, I'm fully aware that the NFF is more than capable of shooting themselves in the butt (they've been doing it since before I was even born). I was just posting to explain why in a realistic setting, those demands are not excessive. I don’t even see anything excessive in that demand as almost everything in there looks basic just as you explained but the fact that nff even exposed this to the public shows where they are headed! Tomorrow they will put the blame on Chelle if he doesn’t continue to coach the team just like they did with paseiro! All these is just dress rehearsal |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 1:16pm On Feb 24 |
FiveFootNinja: Haba Oga Semi, this one na homework/assignment abi class project wey you carry give me na.
But no wam. Onto say you be our oga patapata for here, I will bite. Plus I have enough time today so why not. I don attach the picture below.
Points 1 & 2: Private SUV with chauffeur/security and a secured house with 24-hour power supply. At first glance, it might sound like Chelle dey overdo. But if you think about it guy, Nigeria is Nigeria. Things dey happen for here, LOL. I'm not saying it's very likely that he'll experience security challenges, but if you want a coach to be comfortable (especially a foreign coach), I don't think these are unreasonable demands to meet.
Point 3: Furnished office with a projector for analysis. This one na basic working tool. In fact, any serious football federation should already have this without it needing to be in a contract. No issue here.
Point 4: Internet provision. Again, completely standard. Moving on.
Point 5: Flight tickets for wife and two children, business class for Eric and wife, economy for kids. Most multinational employers actually offer this. Can it be negotiated? Of course. But it doesn't sound excessive in the first place.
Point 6: GPS provision. Oya make I confess, when I first see this one, I burst laugh. Wetin he wan use GPS do wey Google Maps no go fit do? If NFF have diplomatic agents, they can make him realize how unnecessary this request is. This is the only request that I consider questionable so far.
Point 7: Proper equipment supply according to the coach's demand. Again, absolutely valid. How can you train without proper equipment?
Point 8: Right to choose opponents for international friendlies. This one I partially agree with. Normally, a coach should have significant input on who we face in friendlies since it affects preparation. But framing it as an absolute right of choice might be going a bit too far. There are commercial and diplomatic considerations to be had there. NFF should meet him halfway.
Points 9 & 10: Camping programs and youth development initiatives. Music to my ears abegi. This shows he's thinking about our footballing prowess in the long-term
Point 11: Provision to travel, watch, and monitor players abroad. Again, this is standard for any national team coach.
Point 12: Travel to watch the local league and identify players for senior, U23, U20, and U17 teams. Again, what's the problem here? This one should be a given.
Point 13: No interference in team selection and player call-ups. GBAM!! In fact, one crate of Fearless to Eric Chelle for this. The NFF's history of interfering in selection is well documented. It will protect the technical process.
Point 14: NFF to issue working contracts for his staff. Fair and professional. His staff need job security too. We don't want to start hearing stories similar to Randy Waldrum's where he had to go to the 2023 World Cup without his technical assistant. I think he made mention of that in one interview with one African sports journalist like that.
Point 15: Salary paid on or before the 30th of every month. The fact that this needs to be written down tells you everything about the NFF's payment history.
Point 16 & 17: Bonuses, allowances, and including his PA in the structure. Standard contract stuff. I've seen people on Twitter arguing why they need to pay his PA sha. But besides that everything else is standard.
Point 18: $130,000 monthly salary covering himself and technical staff. Okay.. so this is where genuine debate lies because that money no be beans, even though it's not really outlandish by global standards for a national team coach. I feel if NFF are really serious about him, they can meet his demands or at least negotiate to an amount that will satisfy them both. The bundling of technical staff costs is actually clever sha cos it shows he's packaging everything transparently rather than hiding costs.
Point 19: Monthly meetings with all national team coaches. GBAM AGAIN!!! Fantastic idea if you ask me. Coordination between the senior team and youth teams has always been disjointed.
So boss, the only points questionable or not too solid here are 6, 8 and maybe 18. 6 because which one be GPS again? 8 for reasons already explained above, 18 just because of the cost and how poor we know the NFF is when it comes to generating revenue. And even then it's not a solid excuse. These things can be met. At best, there will be negotiations but come on, it's not as bad as people seem to be painting it. You better don’t waste your time the nff is being crafty letting you know they can’t pay Chelle so they won’t be extending his contract. This has always been their style and even Chelle knows going by his demands. All these are all departure formalities between nff and Chelle 😂 Your local coaches are happy being paid 30k per month and would gladly let you know whatever Chelle has done they can build on it or even surpass it. We Nigerians too are bloody arrogant and will claim that Chelle did nothing special to warrant his demands as you are already seeing on this thread so case closed abeg! |

I've never taken any of those ex-players who say such things seriously. We are supposed to pay you and plan your financial future? C'mon na I now see why most of our ex players now see the ambition to coach our national team as their retirement package cos you see those bonus and allowances na wetin fit fund their lifestyle post retirement! e clear well now! Kog45: Let me made it clearer....I have a friend who is a real buddy of Jay Jay Okocha,Jay Jay do come to town(Ilorin)with flight we picked him up and do discuss a lot especially on finances of retired players especially Europe based ones.....the big question how do they failed financially. He said some contracts are so good on paper but in reality poor....He said he made nothing much but Turkey moved gave him financial stability.
The educated ex players even in NPFL are doing better than uneducated ones...Check out Segun Odegbami and Adokiye.....my very good friend Seyi Olofinjana is doing pretty well than well know ex eagles players, look at Mike Emenalo
Taiwo Awoniyi is paying monthly stipend to some retired players in Ilorin even buying transport buses for some to make a lving Osihmen made the best of decisions then and people continue to bash him for playing in the same Turkey. This is why I don’t blame players for decisions joining certain clubs or remaining in some clubs or countries, retirement is a big deal and you need to take care of yourself. I remember then the way Mikel was being bashed then for remaining in Chelsea and even chopping bench at a particular time. Dude was only bidding his time to remain in uk to get his British passport and we can now see how that choice had paid off in his retirement, same reason I think Frank the tank is remaining in the uk too even heard he just had a baby. Decisions and choices matter in the long run no matter how unpopular they may seem at the moment cos at the end of the day na you go face your life alone. Imagine those ex players in ilorin you talked about don’t have awoniyi taking care of them but hope awoniyi would have someone too just in case in his retirement life. The national team truly is helping our players a lot despite all the bonus wahala by nff! |

Kog45: Stanley Nwabali wey dey use eagles camp allowances and match bonuses hold body,no be all eagles players get money to throw around o...I had this discussion with late Thompson Oliha. And he said Kay baba if not for eagles money I will not achieve anything financially,Samson Siasia shared the same thing with me cuz he was joking with Patrick Paschal that he is richer than him and said not possible...he said Paschal Turkish contract alone was more than what he earned in his entire career in Europe.. Nwabali need Saudi or Turkey clubs to make it big financially If this is true then why do most ex players blame Nigeria or the country as a whole for their financial woes both during their playing and post playing career? cos with what you’re saying most made a fortune by playing for the national team. There was this discussion posted online among some ex players from the the Rohr set, players like ighalo and others I can’t remember where one of them admitted it was from the bonus from an Afcon event he bought land and built his house! |

BankyGee: The league is important too, it was stupid resting players when you know you're only leading Fenerbahçe with 6 points, now we lost Osimhen no go ever see that rest till season end or till he injure. Sometimes decisions are very difficult to make the money champions league brings no be small money and it’s not every season you can beat juventus so go for the money now to buy more players or make more profit and then you can challenge for the league next season. |

BankyGee: When it's like three to four months to the summer transfer window, every big club in the world wants Victor Osimhen - Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich, Liverpool all wants him, but when it IS actually the summer transfer window, all the big clubs become broke and start spreading agendas about Osimhen's "attitude", while fans spread the agenda that "he's greedy".
I've seen this script play for three transfer windows in a row, it is annoying, irritating and sickening. I've seen it time and time again! If you're not serious about signing Victor Osimhen, KEEP HIS NAME OUT OF YOUR F*CKING MOUTH!!!
We Galatasaray fans love him so much and we won't want you to mess with his mental health! He has been through a lot already and he gives his life for this club! The same people wey want am go big club na still dem Dey complain about his attitude. See confusion o! Goodenoch: We’ll soon be testing the “immigrants are taking our jobs; if they weren’t here wages would be higher and our young people would work instead of staying on benefits forever” hypothesis.
The “‘immigrants’ will always come to work here no matter how you squeeze them for fees, constrict their opportunities to advance their careers and use policies to condemn them to permanently working jobs Brits don’t want to” is already being disproven, just like the “the UK education industry is completely fine without foreign students” has been disproven.
Eventually, we’ll get to the one about whether the economy as a whole; and public services like the treasured NHS in particular, are completely fine without immigrants as well, as Farage, Badenough and Lowe would have their sheep believe. When I was laid off from my previous job last year an elderly Brit expressed to me how sad she was hearing about my job loss, she lamented that in a country where many are unwilling to work here am I willing to work yet being laid off and finding it difficult then to get back into the workforce, the people know the truth themselves yet the politicians keep manipulating the ignorant and uneducated ones among them. Let them continue till they carry them go where they no know |
