My question is for those who have traveled with a toddler and used wheelchair. Were you allowed to carry your toddler on your lap while you were being pushed? At your destination in US, did another porter push your luggage while were you were still being pushed on your wheelchair?
Yes I had my toddler on my laps and my hand luggage in between my legs resting on the foot pedal of the wheel chair. Yes the porter waits for you to finish everything including luggage claim, and till u catch your ride. Just prepare your tip for the porter. And yes, he will be the only one attending to u. You can't get two porters.

Pm me for a reliable shipper in Sayreville, NJ...
I have used them so many times, shipped from clothing to 65" TV to Abuja and I got it in one piece, shipping time is very fair, cost good..takes 14days for airfreight and sea freight was less than 2 months for me and was affordable.

[quote author=somchisom post=32574317]Hello house,
In the spirit of giving back. Here is my birth story.
I gave birth to my baby girl March 17th at United memorial medical center, batavia New York through C.S. Stayed in the hospital 3 days for all. The hospital offers a 60% automatic dscount for self pay. Got my bill for 3947.69 for mother and 1407 for the child, total of 5354. Doctor's fee for ante natal and delivery was 1499.4 (I was scheduled for natural delivery with a mid wife but had to go for c-section last minute, which included a doctor in the package. The fee above also include all the meal I had for 3 days. The service was awesome, everyone including the doctor's were very friendly, nice and professional

Wow this is great news! Congratulations on your smooth delivery. Safe trip back to Nigeria.

Please I have a question, how did you do with the accommodation? Did you stay with relative or did you have to rent?

Hey @favouredB how are you and your babygirl? I believe you guys are in good health and have been bonding real good, that's why you've totally forgotten us here lol. Please come back just for a bit we have a lot to learn from you. I personally have some questions I need your help with based on your experience with the hospital you used. Hoping you get to reply soon. grin grin

@Demi2000 and gratefulheart88, pls for arik, I read on the website that you have to bring your medical report to them at least 48hrs b4 your intended flight. Did you both do this or did you just go to the airport on the day of your trip and check in the normal way?
I had a fit to fly written two days to my trip and went to the airport on the day of travel and was also asked to go to the port health for a travel certificate. Just make sure you are not more than 30 weeks.

Congrats on you successful poe. My questions are: Who pushes the wheelchair? On arrival, does this person wait for you to finish inspection with the poe officers? Does he then continue wheeling you to the arrivals lounge? Do you pay him or give him a tip or nothing ? Will appreciate a response from you or anyone else.
I'm sure you got the response already. It's a lot easier with the wheel chair. All the best

Hey beautiful people! I just want to let you all know you are exceptional. cool cool

I just arrived New Jersey today via JFK. I flew arik with my 1 year old toddler and my grandmum.
Traveling with a toddler is a lot of work and my grandmum couldn't help much as we were in separate cabins and my son wants only mummy. He screams at the sight of her. I mean I've travelled with him a couple of times since I had him, but doing it with a big belly this time was a huge deal.
I Thank God for the strength to do this. I requested for a wheelchair and it was the best thing that happened to me considering I'm really heavy and had to hold my toddler as well.
Arik accepted me at 29 weeks and I also had to get a fit to fly certificate from the port health authority. Apperently Arik carries preggy passengers till 30 weeks.

I got to the immigration really quick cos I was wheeled. Didn't go with my grandmum cos she's a citizen and I didn't want to answer plenty questions so I asked her to go on her own.
Usually I used to go through with the US citizens cue Because my son is a citizen, but I read somewhere on this thread that it was wrong so I just respected myself and went with visitors.

The immigration officer didn't ask me for any documents or anything even from my toddlers birth. I had all that prepared tho.
She just asked why I'm coming to the US, and why I wanted to give birth in the USA. Where I'll be staying and for how long I'll be staying. When I answered, She asked to see my sons face and stamped us in for 6month, and off we went to the CBP cue. Easy peasy!

I didn't have any foodstuff my grandmum did all the carrying and she wasn't even searched. They sent me to another cue to get questioned because I had above 10k and the Asian guy I met there just laughed with me and let us go, grandmum was already outside waiting. That's all folks. It was a smooth and stress free experience for me and I thank God.

I now have a lot of decision making to do. I think I'll be heading to Houston from NJ. But my family is here. I'll visit the Hackensack hospital and research a lot more about NJ affordable hospitals and make up my mind and let you all know.

May the Good lord guide and give all mums coming into the states a stress free travel and Entry.

Congrats to all the new mum that just had their babies. God is awesome!!!

Cheers!

Yes for the newborn baby. Thanks.

I had a c-section.
Dr's Office: $3340 ($2500 doctor's charges, $445 labs, $145 initial visit, $250 ultrasound)
WHMC CS: $4000
Epidural: $1200

The Paediatrics fees are still all over the place now, yet to complie it. The Texas Paediatric have a sheet containing the discounted payments for self-pay patients. They made us see the doctor after a week of birth for fear of jaundice. Thankful she did not have it. Paid for a second visit + 14 day screening test fee. I think there is another visit when the baby is a month old. So far may have paid about $400.
Thank you for the breakdown of costs please can you also give info on the accommodation you said you leased? I'm trying to weigh my options please. I will send you a PM.

Praise God with me my people. My daughter's delivery was very successful! Dr. La is a great doctor and the hospital staff were superb. It is a world of difference between the birth of my first at Park Plaza Hospital and this experience. When you walk into WHMC you would think it was a hotel, beautiful.

I dealt with two ladies on accommodation issue, though I ended up not using either because I am renting/leasing. But the two Soul Care and Pampered Care I would say are kind and very serious minded. The locations and setting they had did not work for me.

I also came here to ask for a car rental service. Again, I ended up not renting a car. Someone was recommended to me. He basically drove me around to where ever I needed to go at an agreed cost which was cheaper than Uber and of course the Yellow Cab. I would use him if I have to go somewhere far and then use Uber for nearer journeys. I met a few Nigerians using the Uber service, one of them prayed for me and baby. Really interesting. There was one Uber driver that carried me from walmart. The guy simply opened his truck and started the journey. He did not even bother to help me load my shopping into his truck. You will meet all sorts! The variety is what interests me. I also met one Mohammed from Afghanistan. If I tell you I was not scared, I will be joking. I simply kept my cool till I got to my destination & just thanked my God! Lol.

I got a few discounts. For the Pathology paid like: $70; Hearing Test: $163 (half price); Surgical Assistant: $200. Just ask for a discount, you never know, they may have concessions.

Now in the process of getting baby's papers together. I have a question though. I have just called BA to add my daughter to my booking. My question is that I hope I will not have any problems with immigration and whether or not I got a return ticket for her. Please any mum that has returned to Nija via BA, did you have such an experience or not?

Congratulations to you and your little one. Thank God for safe delivery.

Thanks @shelly23. Please does anyone have details of a doctor/hospital in new jersey that will respond sharply?
Try Dr Fares Diabakerli he's at Hackensack umc mountainside new jersey.
Dr Agu chikezie he's at Robert wood Johnson Somerset but I found this to be really expensive.
Dr Fares on the other hand is affordable, my only concern is with the hospital. The reviews on the hospital got me worried. But then a nairalander just used this place but I'm still waiting for her response as I would really love to hear from her personal experience at Hackensack @favouredB.

There's also St Peters university hospital new brunswick you can Google Dr's there.

hope this helps.

Hi everyone, am new to this forum. I really appreciate all ur comments and advice. I have written several emails to the hospital in NJ Hackensack but I got no respond. Can someone pls help me? I need an affordable hospital in NY/ NJ pls. I wish u all safe deliveries and stress free POE, Amen. Is the ticket promo still on pls?
Hi @luckychild2015 I intend to use the same hospital. So far they're the cheapest in NJ. NYC is a lot more expensive. I have gotten response from them via phone calls. be sure it's the hackensack umc mountainside hospital you contacted. This particular one is where you will get the affordable maternity package. Dr Fares Diabakerli is the Dr I contacted at the hospital and he pretty much gave me a detailed break down of the cost and all what ill need to pay via email. It's 6500 for VD and 8950 for CS. You can Google him to get his contacts.

I am only just waiting for @favouredB to respond to my pm as she just used the hospital. I only want to confirm a few things about their services and all.

I hope this helps.

I am using Doctor Fares Diabakerli. Will send you his number via PM.

I have been getting lots of PMS on total cost for Hackensack and I think I should mention it here again.

Doctor's fee ....1,500 for vaginal delivery and 2000 for CS. Hospital fee...3,800 ( for 2 days normal delivery). So far for all the tests the bill came to about 620 or so but after discount I paid 220. Not sure yet about exact fees for Paed and others.
Hi @favouredB how are you and baby? Pls ill need your help. I am hoping to use Hackensack and Dr Fares based on the info provided here.

I am yet to get a quote from the Dr but I have called and im waiting for the mail from his office. I called the hospital and got a totally different price from what you were given and I want to know if I am doing anything wrong. I asked for self pay price and It was quoted at 12k for CS delivery minus Dr fees oo. I'm in shock as I was expecting to hear 5k. Please could you help me out here? I really need to get more info on how to go about this. I sent you a PM, pls reply.
Thanks

Hello good people! Thank you for all the information you have been sharing on this thread I must say it is priceless and really selfless of you all may God bless you all.

I have been able to share my knowledge from this thread with my sister in law and I have a question I hope anyone here with an experience or knowledge can help me answer.

My sister in law is also expecting and due to give birth to her baby in august. She has a child who she gave birth to in the usa last year and incurred an outrageous bill of 43,000 due to complications which she paid half and owes half now paying with a payment plan.

Now her question is... With evidence of what she has paid and her on going payment plan, will she encounter any problems at the point of entry? She intends to go with a lot of cash and all necessary documents for the new baby but she will also be travelling with her 1st baby. Will this pose a problem for her? What will you advice that she can do to guarantee her entry into the United state. Please your kind contribution and advice is needed. May God bless us all.

Hello everyone!!! I just joined the forum. And I have been going through the pages. I have been greatly informed. You guys are awesome. I had my first in the usa and had no issues at all with visa and POE I thank God and since then I have gone back to the USA for vacation. Now I am planning to go back again for twins but in a different state as I was staying with family the other time but won't be staying with them again because of the hospital bill we had to pay the last time. I am seriously sourcing for the cheapest i can get. Now I have a few questions and I will be really glad if you good people can help me figure this out;

I am still using the same 2 yrs visa I got for my first, when i get to the POE this time around would I have to show receipts of payments for the birthing of my first at POE is it likely?

I am yet to settle for the hospital I will be using but I'm caught between West houston, oakbend and El paso based on what I've read from this thread so far. Still trying to work out my logistics as I will be needing a lot of help with the twins and my toddler. I will keep you guys posted on what I decide nonetheless.

I will appericiate your response. Thank you!
