PPR alert! SOWP for me. My wife and 3 children traveled on Study Visas since early January 2023. Approval came on Friday evening. Thanks to everyone. Upfront Medicals Applied: June 3 Biometrics: June 16 PPR: August 11 Only biometrics updated same day it was done: June 16; no further update until PPR. Medicals changed to passed same time PPR came.
|
Congratulations 🎉 Please, what additional documents were requested? I did Upfront Medicals and uploaded the sheet during my application; medicals has not been updated till date and biometrics was done and updated June 16. No further update yet. Should I be worried? Congratulations once again 🍾 MumDofontario: |
MBS is not for Student Express Stream alone. In fact it’s for authenticity sake and clarity. The fact that your bank communicates with the embassy directly makes it easily verified. My wife and children submitted my personal savings bank account MBS ticket of 5 months as part of POF for their study visas late last year. They were not on student express stream. Kenelly: |
Mybank statement MBS is for the number of months you specify to your bank. It’s what you ask your bank to do that will be done and sent to the embassy, and the ticket will be given/sent to you, which you will attach as part of your POF. IRCC requirement is at least 4 months. Kenelly: |
I don’t think it was the best decision for your sister to add a support letter, bank statement etc. Just mentioning her would have been ok, and saying she will help you get on quicker. Your husband and you should have all the required documents put together to show proof of relationship, assets/business back home, proof of income from the business as well as registration documents showing your names. The sponsorship letter should have come only from your husband to show he is capable to take full responsibilities. In addition, your SOP should be compelling and explanatory. As someone mentioned earlier, cash flow in your account should be consistent with your kind of income/work and lump sums must be logically explained. AdesheO: |

Yes! Got it about an hour ago. mrlycan: |
I never said it is required. Read my lines. I only advised him/her to include it. I read widely and I maintain that PCC is a very important document for a work permit. The fact that some visas are approved without it does not mean it’s not important. You are right, the VO may bypass it based on some other considerations and go ahead with approval. Whereas, in some instances when it is included, the VO may be convinced that you do not have a bad record and complete a decision based on that. Anyone going to work should ordinarily show a clean criminal and medical record. If you can afford it, it’s better to include it. Thanks. OkukuOne: |
I strongly advice you to include it. moruff77: |

I’ve not received the biometrics collection letter. I’ve been checking regularly. I’m worried as well. Please, anyone in the same situation that has finally received the notification should let us know. mrlycan: |
Check very well. On the part that you see the date inside the message, look to the end on your right, you will see Continue Application. Click on it to continue. Dessymond394: |
I think @Sayo007 is confusing the Biometrics Appointment Letter with Biometrics Verification Letter (BVL). Cheebu: |
I’m in the same situation. No Biometrics Appointment Letter yet after submitting. It’s day 4 today. Cheebu: |
Thanks. OkukuOne: |

1. Please what forms do I have to submit with my SOWP application? I need a list of the forms. 2. Do I have to print, sign, and scan the forms after filling? I'm applying alone; my wife and children are already in Canada on study visas/permits. I want to apply now (this very moment). Please help with answers. Thanks |
You have 3 options. 1/ To travel with your husband now. 2/ for him to join you at a later date. 3/ for him to remain in Nigeria all through. If you will be traveling with him now or later, he has to spend time with you and truly assist you settle and focus on your studies. In doing this, he would not be staying idle; he will get a job and the job will generate income which is a plus to support your finances. The job he will quit in Nigeria is the “opportunity cost” just to be with you; he has to forgo it. You have to give a compelling explanation. Don’t put too much relevance on his present job, rather show optimism and excitement about how having him would make your stay and study better. Also talk about what you guys plan to do when you return home after your experiences and studies. If I can remember from your posts, you guys run a business as well which can be used as home tie. The purpose of the visa he should be applying for is for him to be with spouse(you) and work anywhere in Canada. That’s why it’s called Spouse Open Work Permit. The visa officer will not accept Visit Visa for a spouse in this instance. You have to make up your mind on which of the above mentioned options you want. Cheers! Ammykorr: |
I suggest you avoid stating that your husband will be back in the country. The visa to apply for him is SOWP. It’s practically for him to get a job and work in Canada. Therefore it is better to talk about his Eligibility and that in addition to helping you and the kids settle, he will be working through out the period of your study permit duration. It’s an advantage if your husband is the sponsor. Just show enough home ties and the necessary funding. Also show proof of relationship, proof of your schooling, tuition payment etc, proof of parentage of your kids. Have good documents checklist. I am positive you will get approved! How old are your Kids? You determine their own Visas by their ages. Ammykorr: |
MumDofontario:You can apply for study visa. My last daughter will be 5 years old this May. In September 2022, my wife applied for study visa along with my 3 children; ages 8, 6, 4+years. They were all granted study visas early December 2022. They arrived in January 2023 and started school by the end of the second week in January. |
To add to what @Johnstan has explained, if I were the VO, I would think; if you have good business/contract with multinational telco running into millions, why not wait for it to materialize and gather your own funds to sponsor yourself? Why hurry to use other sponsors now? RuggedArab: |
Hello Johnstan, Please what’s Ethiopian air address in Lagos? I keep seeing flights passing through Washington(USA) to Toronto online. I don’t think my family can pass through US. johnstan: |

We only sent webform about 2 weeks into the application adding: deed of assignment and my wife’s medical ( we omitted initially). I think how and what you fill in the form matters, and also the how you write your SOP and letters. Everything just has to correlate (there are very important things that one should establish no matter your situation). You can use what you have truthfully, carefully and well orchestrated to obtain a favorable result. Cheers! |
PPR Alert! We woke up around 3:30am and saw four do not reply messages in our mail. First time applicant! PPR study visas for my wife and 3 children (8, 6, 4). Below is the time-line. I will post documents submitted soon! I’ve sent their passports to Abuja this afternoon. Thank God and special thanks to this wonderful thread and all contributors. I got a lot of knowledge here and we did it ourselves. I pray for all those waiting. Cheers!
