Your the one who has failed to grasp a simple point. I did not say play a rookie. I said play the best in camp. How many times do I have to say a simple point as that for you to understand? Play the best in camp. My point is that the next goal keeper in line to take over from Carl is Akpeyi. His experience and club form qualifies him for the role. Aloy Agu and the other assistants should concentrate more on him durring training. I expect him to be in goal in training games with the more probable match day line up (team A) while Ezenwa mans the post for the second string (team B). Akpeyi should get a head start ahead of the other goalies. If it's squarely up to training form, then the gates should be thrown open for everyone with a Nigerian passport to come and try out. The most in form out of the lot should man the post in Uyo. |

What are you talking? Please, before Pellegrini released his list for the preseason games, he was in camp with a lot of players. He made his final list. One player that was dropped was Devante Cole, Andy Cole's son.
Stop twisting your point. You clearly talked of Bellerin playing in Emirates Cup. I pointed to you that Wenger knew he was quality before you saw Bellerin in those games.
Do not jump around the point to slow the thread's momentum. You're the one slowing the threads momentum with this constant talk about playing a rookie in goal for our biggest game in 2016. My point is that managers use pre season to gauge the level all players available to him are. Even the training you mentioned before camping is pre season !!! |

Preseason games, the matches are not a training camp. They are football games. The training happens before the game. Pellegrini called Iheanacho and C. Nwakali to go for the preseason tour after camping and training. Players go for pre season training from their homes. Except you're saying Iheanacho and Nwakali were camping at home before travelling with Man city for pre season training . |

safarigirl: he's a goalie, not an outfield player.
Give me players in the Israeli league who are internationals for their country, or in the SA league....
The rules that apply to outfield players do not apply to goalies, especially when they are no older than 20 years of age AND African The psl is a well organised league. Lots of internationals from African countries ply their trade in South Africa. The Zambian team we played had a lot players from the Psl. Isreali league is growing in leap an bound, since admitted to UEFA. There 2 clubs in the Europa league are doing well. There are lots of South American, African and players from that Mediterranean region who play in the Isreali league. I don't really get your point about different rules for goalkeepers. |

And conceedes And average of 1 goal per game for Chipa United. Alampasu in the Portuguese amateur league has no clean sheet in 7 games and conceedes 1.6 goals per game. How you think Alampasu will Outshine Akpeyi is beyond me. |

That is what you knew. Not what the coaches knew. The coaches worked for days, months, some years on the training pitches with this young players, getting them ready. Teaching them different aspects of the game and nurturing them into quality players. The coaches correct their mistakes on the pitch.
When they feel these players are ready, they play them and people, that is a star in the making. Not the coach.
Pellegrini knew he had a star in Iheanacho, long before his game against Kansas. It was already a big move when he invited Iheanacho and Chidi Nwakali to train with the first team. Then he selected them as promising stars for the preseason. If iheanacho had a bad pre season, the coaches wouldn't look his way durring the course of the season. Man city would have loaned him out to a club in Norway or Kazakhstan. |

I am not seeing anything. I said, the coaches if the Super Eagles should drill and select the best. What I do not understand is why your breaking your fingers to prove Alampasu is not a good keeper. If he is as poor as you make him, the other keepers should easily Outshine Alampasu.
If they can not outshine him, you want us to man our post with a keeper worse than how poor you paint Alampasu. Alampasu is not exposed enough to start an an important game for us. Am exposing him as an amateur goalkeeper that he is.I never said he's untalented. Akpeyi Statistically in the Psl conceedes an average of 1 goal per game... While Alampasu in the Portuguese 3rd tier conceedes 1.6 goals per game. Who do you think is better to handle the pressure against Algeria? Who do you think will out perform each other in training? |

Are you talking of a player selling themselves in the preseason or a player becoming experienced in preseason. If it is the later, preseason games is never enough to tag a player experienced.
Please, players sell themselves in training, not preseason games. It's a little bit of both. Young players get both match experience, match fitness and sell themselves to the club and fans. After watching Belerin against Lyon at the Emirates cup, I knew straight out the guy will play a big role in his break out season. Iheanacho was pure class against an American club in preseason. I think he scored twice... It was no surprise plans where made for him by Man city.... These are how things work. |

Preseason? That is now a criteria for experience. Pre season is the blending in process of players. Managers use pre season friendlies to know which youngster is ready for the first team. Iwobi, Akpom, Iheanacho, Ejaria etc.. sold themselves in pre season training to their managers. You don't just start playing a youngster out of the blues in the champions league semi finals. In national teams, managers use friendly games to introduce youngsters. Iwobi, Iheanacho got their first starts in friendlies.. That's the proper way to introduce kids into a national team. Why should Alampasu be thrown straight into the deep end? Its not like he's playing top league football in Portugal. Even in the 3rd division he's currently playing,he's conceeding an average of 1.6 goals per game, those numbers are below average numbers. What exactly do you see in Alampasu that all protocols should be broken for? Unless, Akpeyi's right hand is somehow amputated 24 hrs before the game, I don't see Ezenwa nor Dele starting. Am sorry |

BascoVanVeli: but Dele has also had a full season in Portugal. He was a second choice but decided to go play football, we can't punish him for doing the right thing. The other 2 have one meaningful start between then so whoever starts will basically be thrown in. There is no easy decision to be made here we will be taking a gamble with anyone of them so why not start them on equal note. Just don't write Dele off so soon. Give me names of players in the Portuguese 3rd division who are internationals for their country. |

safarigirl: ....but Alampasu is already playing club football He plays in a developmental league. Caseranse plays in a league closer to the last tier in Portuguese football than it is to the first division. It's just like out version of the Nigerian amateur league. I've seen a few games in the Portuguese division 1, apart from the big teams (Braga, Porto, Sporting Lisbon) the average crowd attendance in the top tier is very very poor. Sometimes you can hear the echo around the stadium when teams ppay(to tell you how empty the stadium is). In the Portuguese 3rd division, where teams play at neighbourhood parks, average crowd attendance could be just a hand full of families /students. This is not meant to slight Alampasu, but to give you a detailed idea the level which Alampasu plays. Ask yourself if that level is international quality level required to get capped. How many players in that league are internationals for their countries? We cannot handle the game against Algeria with kids gloves. |

Now you get me. Experience to me does not count. Current form counts. Iheanacho lacks experience among our top strikers but he is one of the best in Europe.
Better over Experience.
Who is the best? Decide that in training.
De Gea was impressing but he was not better than Cassilas and Reina.
Unlike what we have in our team now. Our current keepers are not top quality. Let them fight for the Jersey. Prove who is the best in training. First of all, Iheanacho had 2 solid pre seasons and friendly games before he made his Premier league bow. In national team, there is no luxury of time to blend in a youngster 3 days before match day. Dele and Iheanacho's case are totally different. Don't even compare club with country footie |

If we had Pepe Reina and Cassilas in our squad, would we have this debate? Going by your logic that experience should be thrown out of the window, instead training form should determine who starts. I guess you want us to believe De Gea played at a high level before he made his debut for Atletico Madrid at 18. Please. This is not about tagging. It is about the coach given the best performer in camp a Starting position. Not just about Alampasu. I wonder how many times I have to repeat the same thing. The super Eagles of Nigeria is bigger than Athletico Madrid. Youngsters get debuts for clubs before being called by their country for a reason. why didn't Donaruma get his Italy debut before starting for AC Milan? Using the De gae analogy doesn't hold water. At Athletico, De gae was not even the 2nd keeper for Spain. Cassilas and Pepe Reina were ahead of him even when he was starting for Athletico... I wonder the reason for comparism with Alampasu. |

Icon4s: Alampasu cannot start that game.
It is either Ezenwa or Akpeyi. Alampasu was just included in the team to train with the goalies and gather some more experience.
Rohr said it that his third choice goalie has to be a much younger person. For the Tanzania and Zambia games it was Emmanuel Daniel.
Even if Ezenwa and Akpeyi are ruled of the Algeria clash due to what soever reason, Alampasu will still not be in goal. For one, Emmanuel Daniel is even ahead of Alampasu. There are other good goalies in the NPFL like Femi Thomas, Theophilus Afelokhai.
I know it is only one person hear that could have mention Dele Ayenugba. Thank goodness. I was beginning to think I am the lone voice in the wilderness. I can't believe people want us to play Russian Roulette with Alampasu in Uyo |

If it is the rookie, then he is the best choice. Simple. My point is that Alampasu is hardly pulling up trees in the Portuguese fourth tier. He is hardly in the form of his life being without a clean sheet all season. Why would you think he will come to camp and Outshine everyone? |

The first goal came from a deep cross from the left, which by passed the midfield. The lack of communication between the CBs was exposed. If Ekong and Seth were in tandem with each other, they would have stepped up when the ball came in, keeping the Colombian offside. Truth is that the team didn't turn up in the game. I would be watching the highlights after the game. In the WYC in Turkey, he was our best player by a country mile. Its quite perplexing Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi and some of his mates are regulars with the SE and he's not. Life is not fair indeed.
