Mujtahida: It makes us short in that department. Nigeria plays attacking football. I'm not happy that this team is predominantly described as a counter attacking team. This is where the NFF's technical committee comes in. It is their job to hire a coach whose style and philosophy is consistent with the Nigerian tradition (I'm not indicting Rohr yet). One of the reasons Arsenal hired Emery came with the caviar he will play the Arsenal way. Jose Mourinho lost his job at Madrid when he played negative football which was against the traditions of Real. He could loose his job at Manchester because of this same reason. |

Mujtahida: And our dear AM was a DM at Chelsea for 11 years This is exactly what I mean. Even Kwado Asamoah was turned to a left-back. He used to be a very good attacking midfielder. |

Mujtahida: No big names there na. Abi Agu, Ogu, Agbo, Onazi, Etebo are now big names? Only Ndidi and Joel have big names.
This Nwakali dey do una fantasy something ooo.
But I really don't know why we have so many DM in the team.
It should have been 3 creative players and 3 destructive players.
Once Mikel is out we are likely out. Somebody said here that our WC will go as far as Mikel can go. Those guys are big names in Nigeria football. They make the back pages of Nigerian dailies. I'm talking about those who don't get as much coverage as those guys. The unknowns. Therein lies your creative midfielders, I dont know why but it is very difficult for top European clubs to sign attacking midfielders from Africa. They prefer signing and developing centre backs and DMs from Africa. |

Mujtahida: Too many DMs in the team ROhr went for big name players, who unfortunately are not creatives. The creative ones neglected play in lesser fancied teams and countries. He will just have to fashion out a system to suit what he has. |

Eleniyan15: Onazi of 2014 isn't the same again and like i said it not only onazi but some of other players , i don't know the diet they're on but something has to be be done because they were burned out yesterday and if your team get tired easily then i don't think they can absorb pressure from a technical team.
They should work on their fitness and diet, if they can't hold lot of Possession. Iwobi himself can't perform if the team is not holding lot of possession he would get tired easily that why I prefer him to always come in as a Sub. I want to believe they have a chiropractor and strength/conditioning coach, a certain French man, Roy******. He is responsible to knock the team into shape, physically. Onazi has really regressed, truth be told. |

Eleniyan15: That is why mikel obi is really important with his long range pass, onazi tried it yesterday but i wasn't feeling it. This team would go into world cup to try to absorb pressure and break with a counter attack but i doubt if this team can really absorb lot of pressure because yesterday they all got tired fast. My worry is that this style of play requires experience but we are going to the tournament with the youngest team. Onazi has added alot of pounds, this has greatly affected his mobility. Rohr should put him on special training if he insists Onazi must play. |

Kog45: I don't want to talk again outside 30 man list again but Rohr need to mange this team especially midfield.
What happened to Brazil against Germany would be a child play cos the team was exposed due to players with similar style of play (Fernadinho,Paulinho,Ramirez,Gustavo) in the midfield and with players like Onazi, Etebo,Agu,Joel, and Ogu am foreseeing issues if not managed tactically.
It's apparent that without Mikel the team will keep on struggling.Hope Rohr will do the needful tactically. With the available players, Rohr can can only hope to play a pragmatic style of football like Simione's Athletico. The raft of defensive midfielders makes it impossible to impose a possession style of football on this team. I expect to see them defend deep and get as quickly as they can to the opposition's box with long balls and quick combinations. The method will need hard runners on the wings and a striker with good hold up play. Creating chances from dead balls will also be key. |

Icon4s: Oga, why do you always make comments like these?
That's how the other time you magnified Cameroon so tey you became a Cameroonian fan at a point. So because Nwakali and Azubuike are not in this team your own World Cup has come and gone.
Well, for me the World Cup party is just about to start. I have placed order for my jersey already. I have my collection of Green and White Super Eagles Survenoirs. I am placing them on my dash board like I always do during major competitions.
The World Cup party takes place only once in 4 years and I would not let one or two players that were not selected spoil my fun.
Roll the drums Jare...........the mundial is upon us again.... you dey remember something oh. I really had alot of empathy for Cameroun at the nations cup. Icon79: Haha!! I knew that this comparison was coming! Comparing those two friendly games is silly to say the least.
First of all, the pitch today was so bad that it was simply impossible to play good football on such pitch. Secondly, the team (Super Eagles) was taking it easy. After what happened to Moses Simeon, nobody wants to get hurt on that bad pitch and miss the World Cup, especially playing against a team with nothing to lose (DR Congo). If you want to blame anyone then blame the NFF for wasting a good opportunity by organizing this friendly game in PH.
Here's what I said to them on twitter:
His Majesty @TalmudicSage More Replying to @NGSuperEagles This DR Congo friendly is a bloody waste of time by the @thenff. We should have used this opportunity to squeeze in another friendly against a South American team. Right now Tunisia is playing Portugal while we wasted time playing on the sandy patchy pitch of PH. #Shameful
O pari Funny enough, if we had played Serbia on this same pitch, alot of people including you would have blamed the pitch for the shabby performance. Hopefully, the poor quality football is not gradually becoming a culture. The team must do better going forward. Will they still be camping in Austria? |

Mujtahida: How will this change Russia now? How? Nwakali or Azubuike can make no difference now. We are not going to Russia to win the world cup, are we? There's life after Russia, it's not enough for Pinick to say he has teams for 2022 and 2026 world cups. I'm obviously talking about Nwakali and Azubuike for reference purposes, this Russian world cup have come and gone as far as I'm concerned. |

Mujtahida: I'm not trivialising it but you see I'd prefer the team to be criticised on its own terms than calling for what we know cannot happen at this stage. That's why I kept saying that we have to face reality.
See lots of people criticizing the team for its inability to string passes, play well through the middle and many other deficiencies. One can hardly contest this cos this are facts
But talking about team B as a way of levelling criticism on the team is like I said too basic. Team B cannot carry what this team is going to carry at the WC.
Nwakali is good. Can he go to WC at this stage? No. Hope you get my point The fact is that we have always known that Mikel was the only player who could hold it together in midfield. Nigerian football fans have always known that Nwakali was the closest to be groomed foe that role. Another guy who could do this job properly was Azubuike Okechukwu, but they were shut out from the team. When I was talking about being open minded with invites, I didn't mean it starting from last week. |

tbaba1234: I agree but we are also looking at individual performances as they could decide who is on the plane.
On the cocoyam farm, we played today, it was always going to be difficult to get passes flowing. We played on a proper pitch against Serbia, yet the passes were not flowing. There must be a method to the madness. |

My point: team B is not going to Russia. Team A is.
Conclusion: let's face reality not what should or ought to be. Why do I have the feeling you're trivializing this conversation by replying me with my own words. I thought this was supposed to be an honest conversation and not confrontation. In any case, like you said, my point have been noted. |

Mujtahida: well done. so if you are the coach that is what you will do barely a month to the WC. you will open your mind. bring in the guys who inspire confidence to rub shoulders(i actually dont understand what you mean by this in practical terms) with team A.
find a better way to cope with your apprehensions. this suggestion is too basic Are you really suggesting that Rohr knew about Nwakali (for instance) just after watching the Atheletico game? We are talking about a guy who spent a lot of resources inviting the German based Osimhen (you know, Nwakali's teammate). If you want to make me believe this, then someone obviously haven't been doing his home work. |

Mujtahida: is it team B that now inspires confidence that we will now take to Russia? you saw team B and now team A inspires no confidence. team B that atleti scored them whenever they decided to as icon79 ably analysed. okay oo. Yes, the quality of football they played inspired a lot for confidence. Bros, that team B bossed Athletico in midfield all night long. Had them chasing shadows for long periods. What they lacked was better coordination in defence, which doesn't come overnight anyway, it takes a long time to drill a defence into shape. Most of those guys deserves to rub shoulders with the big boys, if Rohr was more open minded. One of the problems this team will have to overcome is complacency. Psychologically, Africans don't function well without competition. Alot of these players know their place is assured after the Argentina game, this have affected thier output. Very typical of Africans |

Right from our 4-2 win against Argentina uptill dis moment... D S.E has failed again to coordinate demselves at d middle and dictate d game
We can't keep assuming things would b right when we face a team dt comprises, modric and co
Na d same pitch Congo self play on top o,and dey played better in terms of ball movement
Rohr shld work on dis,dis was d same thing DOSU JOSEPH TOLD US when we asked him abt d chances of eagles... NO COORDINATION. Thankfully this is not the last friendly they will play before the tournament. Let's give them the benefit of doubt. But so far, without sugar coating it, they have not played well this year. The much maligned Stephen Keshi team played with more quality in their tune up games than this set. Sad but true. |
