tbaba1234:I do not think the CHAN team was great either, I'm not stupiid. The fact is that the player you're trying to rubbish was one of the pillars of a team which played 2 continental finals within 3 months. I think it is uncharitable the way you're having a go at the said right back who scored twice in the qualifiers, scored in Wafu and made 2-3 assists in chan. Please, tell the whole story. |
safarigirl:Who the hell do you think you are to tell me who to leave out of my arguments? |
tbaba1234:Come on... I know your reservations about NPFL players which is quite understandable but we are talking about a player who more than enough contributed to a team playing in 2 finals within a space of 3 months. You cannot argue against his contributions in those competitions and even the qualifiers where the team qualified thanks to his deadballs. In life, you can only face what is in front of you. Bellerine is playing in England and he is known for pace and width he affords his team and not his defensive stats. |
tbaba1234:These are well researched names, for that you have my applause. But if you have to dig deep to find these names, it means the league in question is not elite after all. Again, on Osas, I dare say that every good move that CHAN team made came from his part of the pitch. This explains the reason why he got 2-3 decisive assists in the run up to the finals. Getting skinned is not unusual for a right back these days. Bellerin gets skinned every week. Wing backs are judged these days on how much width they Offer their teams going forward. The sitting, defensive type of full backs like Neville, Maldini and Thurman have been phased out, sadly. I suspect this is the reason why Shehu doesn't play at right back for his club. I stand to be corrected. |
tbaba1234:How many Dutch Eredivise players will represent their countries at the world cup? I will be surprised if anyone can name 5. That tells you everything about that league. Osas gave a fair good account of himself in Chan. The jury is still out in Ola Aina and Ebuehi who couldn't cope when the bar was raised in the last couple of games. |
The biggest winner in the Nigerian list is Junior Lokosa and Kano fillas. Being on the list is a wonderful boost on his CV in his search for greener pastures. By the way, If it was between Lakosa and Umar, I will choose Lakosa everyday of the week. |
tbaba1234:I will rather take my chance in splitting an atom than trying to find an under 20 Hnd holder. |
TheGoodJoe:Kovacic is a genius. He will be more dangerous than Modric and Rakitic whose finer days have come and gone. |
theenchanter:Is that the seal of Solomon used in pagan worship? Astonishing, absolutely astonishing. |
Windows key+ print screen = screen shot. That is what I use. Using 3 keys to screen capture is ![]() |
agadez007:Yemi Alade is hot on stage. The girl is a fire dancer, how she manages to do what she does on high heels is amazing. Although Flavour is like a god on stage, especially these days he brings the ijele masquerade on stage. That is showmanship at it's highest level. That particular category could swing either way. |
agadez007:Honestly, is small doctor really better than ZORO? I don't understand the hype around small doctor. Zoro dropped the best performance by any Nigerian artist at the Bbn, bringing the adama masquerade on stage. If ZORO was Yoruba, he would have won that next rated. |
freeman95:Tekno, Runtown and Flavour were good enough to win in their categories. |
Sometimes, one cannot help but admire the honesty of the Barclay's English premiership. Who could imagine an Everton team with absolutely nothing to play for, went at it full blast to score a last minute equalizer against Southampton. Reverse is the case in my country. Something must give. Who recalls how Akwa Utd got promoted back in 2006 when they recorded a 13 nil victory on the final day, they needed exactly 12 nil to secure promotion. This is reason I hate that club with passion. I celebrated when they were knocked out of the Caf competition. The honesty of the English premiership is worthy of emulation by the football universe. |
Mickael2:Honestly speaking, some views expressed here can be too simplistic at times. Allison conceeded a couple of goals and all of a sudden we have an excuse for Uzoho. Sometimes, too much of native intelligence is not good. Guys like Sergio Rico at Sevilla or Rulli at Sociedad are highly rated keepers who concede a lot. Celta Vigo have a good keeper Alvarez but he concedes loads. Statistically, keepers are rated by shots saved per game . Keeping a clean sheet is about the general performance of the defenders and defensive midfielders. The last I checked, Allison had above 80% save percentage and 100% save from shots outside the box. This is an outrageous stats if you ask me. Before we loose guard of our expectations, I hope Uzoho's stats is close to those numbers. |
mbjane:You cannot legislate on what may happen. In the event that someone gets injured, say Ighalo. Suddenly, he is in play. He's not been so poor that he's not worthy of a look in. |
tbaba1234:How do you extract 100% from a guy who is zoned out thinking about his honeymoon? I expected him to make the 35 man list in a fortnight. Best of luck to him though. |
tbaba1234:He have effectively ruled himself out of reckoning for the World Cup having fixed his wedding in June. He was mentioned in the same breath as Umar and Simy Nwankwo. |
mbjane:Only a luddite will believe Onazi must start come rain, even if he's out of shape like he is. |
Martz101:Exactly. Thank you |
Martz101:Obviously you haven't been following my opinion on Onazi on this thread. At a point, some people thought he was my brother, that's how much I've defended him here. If Onazi must start, he should loose atleast 10 kilos,if I was the coach. His laboured breathing and lack of pace could be disastrous at the Worldcup. It will be footballing malpractice if he starts ahead of fitter players. |
BascoVanVeli:Etebo gets a shout as well.I think we are loaded in the DM position more than any other. Although, sentiments aside, Onazi is not fit to hold down that position. He looks totally out of shape and has lost about 2 yards of pace.He doesn't look a serious player to me these days. Sad but true. I will rather go to war with Shehu and Etebo if Ndidi is absent. Onazi is an accident waiting to happen. In my opinion |
Joebie:Hopefully Ndidi doesn't miss the world cup, but in the event he does, Shehu should step up to the role in midfield. |
Joebie:Of course. Do you think the Ghanaian ref influenced the SA vs Senegal world cup qualifier on just his own accord? It's a pity due deligence wasn't exhausted on that incident. Could be the ref received "hush" money to be the fall guy. (You know what I mean) Nigeria is not exempted as well. The presidential tax force in 2010 comes to mind. Lol |
This is common practice in Africa. Almost every club and country have at one time paid some gratifications to match officials to influence games. Football is not so pure as some people will think. NIGERIA REFEREE OGABOR BANNED ONE YEAR FOR ATTEMPTED MATCH MANIPULATION The CAF Referees Committee on 28 April 2018, has confirmed the recommendation of the CAF Disciplinary Board to ban Nigeria referee Joseph Ogabor from any official mission for one year for attempted match manipulation with respect to the Total CAF Confederation Cup 1/16th round first leg between Plateau United (Nigeria) and USM Alger (Algeria) played on 7 April 2018 in Lagos. The decision follows investigations conducted and evidence submitted by the South African match officials of the said match, who were contacted by Ogabor to provide “technical assistance” to the Nigerian team. Also, Plateau United was cautioned to refrain from the practice of hospitality gifts which tend to create wrong impression. In a related development, the South African Football Association have been ordered to render an apology to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after investigations proved there was no evidence of whatsoever of any official of the NFF regarding an allegation of US$30,000 bribe. http://www.cafonline.com/en-US/NewsCenter/News/NewsDetails?id=LV5eZ5HVRBT9pDDrt3Cx4w%3d%3d |
I passed through this bridge yesterday and I didn't see any kind of construction. |
ChrisKels:Since there's no better option, then we go with what we have and play to his strength. It is that simple. No complications. |
ChrisKels:Do you have a better option? |
Imagine the technology/economy competence of the South merged with the military might of the North. Gents, we are looking at the next world power. |
tbaba1234:Messi didn't have a great World cup in 2010 but he won it ahead of Diego Forlan. If Liverpool win the champion's league and Salah doesn't win the award, I may reconsider watching football and stick to basketball for good. |
tbaba1234:Let's not wave the report aside. Players like Mikel Agu, Junior Ajayi, Joel Obi, Val Nwakaeme and others were invited on the back of reports such as this. |
Iwobi's form rightly should worry any fan.I can't understand the overindulgence he gets from Nigerians. Rohr set to invite Italy-based striker, worries over Iwobi April 24, 2018 Festus Abu Alex Iwobi’s current poor form is a major worry for Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr, our correspondent has learnt. The 21-year-old forward, who burst onto the scene in 2015 and enjoyed starting roles in Arsenal’s first squad until last season, has copped heavy criticism this term because of his inconsistency and paltry form. Iwobi, who sent many Super Eagles fans into a frenzy when he switched his international allegiance to Nigeria from England in 2017, has only scored two Premier League goals in 21 appearances. And his poor form has also sparked concerns that the former England junior international’s inclusion in Nigeria’s Russia 2018 World Cup squad may not benefit the Eagles much. With Kelechi Iheanacho struggling at Leicester City, our correspondent learnt that Rohr fears that he could have China-based striker Odion Ighalo as the only trusted top striker in Russia. A source close to the team told our correspondent that the former Gabon manager is considering his options and has decided to invite Italy-based forward Simeon Nwankwo, who has been knocking on the national team’s door by scoring eye-catching goals in the Serie A. The 25-year-old Crotone striker scored his fourth Serie A goal in the 2-1 defeat of Udinese at Stadio Friuli on Sunday to help pull Gli Squali (The Sharks) a bit clear of relegation zone. Nwankwo, who was on the books of Portuguese club Gil Vicente from 2013 to 2016, stepped into the spotlight on April 18, after he latched on a loose ball to bury a spectacular overhead kick from inside the box into the net to level the score in their 1-1 draw against Italian powerhouse Juventus at Ezio Scida. Sources close to Rohr said the former Burkina Faso coach, who has been monitoring the player’s performance in recent times, “is highly impressed by Nwankwo’s style of play”. Spokesman for the senior national team Toyin Ibitoye refused to confirm nor deny if the Crotone star would be invited by Rohr to fight for his place in the World Cup squad. He said, “Rohr hasn’t named his provisional or final squad so all players are on his radar. We are happy that many of our players are playing well and scoring too.” http://www.punchng.com |
