I was talking about their premiership game not corabo cup.

Like I said, the entire Arsenal team was poor in the first half. I was only reacting to you picking on Iwobi for criticism. The team improved in the second half and so did Iwobi. And he ended up providing an assist for the second Arsenal goal (scored by Xhaka, by the way). And Iwobi would have gotten another assist if not that Lacazette pulled the ball high.

O pari
Dont make it come across like I am picking on Iwobi because I hate him.
I actually love him enough to be mad that he had a bad game.

bros you could say he was playing poor like other players, But saying stuff like he is not justifying his inclusion, is another thing.. Would say that about ozil, or Sanchez, even though ,the were play badly too.. Like iwobi didn't work hard to start, and he just flew from heaven to start playing in the first 11..

Like I said, you wanted to pick on the boy, with negative criticism so quick..

Cut him some slack
Oezil and Sanchez started their last game, Iwobi didn't.
Its sensible for anyone to say he didn't justify his inclusion because he didn't start the last one.
Can you please stop nitpicking and reading meaning to my comments. I don't appreciate being made to explain every sentence I make.

Come on, Even in games where Iwobi is outstanding, he is picked on..

He is the player, Arsenal fans pick on to vent their frustrations.

I am an Arsenal fan by the way.
He was very poor in this game (at least the first half I saw). He misplaced nearly every pass attempted. I actually switched off my tv in total annoyance due to his abysmal performance.

Ahah now, they want to pick on iwobi alone... The whole arsenal team was poor, from Sanchez, to ozil, xhaka... Poor team performance.. That first half..
Now somebody want to start picking on the poor boy, whose team had a bad first half ehn..

Just first half, sumborry have started saying ,"he is not justifying his inclusion in the first 11"...
Wth?...
You want him to sit on the bench or what?, is Sanchez, justifying his inclusion?, is xhaka justifying his inclusion?.. In fact did any arsenal player justify thier inclusion in that first half?...

Please you guys should cut this players some slack

I take God beg una
What's my business if Xhaka/ Sanchez aren't playing well? I'm neither Swiss nor Chilean.
The interest here is Nigeria.

Some forumites arent catching this game and they depend on the reports of those of us watching.
Should we now report falsehood because we want to cut the players some slack?

Arsenal fans aren't impressed with Iwobi either... some reactions I just caught.
They are dishing it out to Cech, Sanchez,Ozil but I rather not post them. Not our business

Iwobi isn't playing poorly, my friend. Arsenal as a whole has been passing poorly in the first half, so don't just pick on Iwobi.

And by the way, did you see the assist he just gave to Xhaka for the equalizer?

Arsenal just took the lead via Ozil. Arsenal 3 Liverpool 2 - coming all the way from 2 goals down.

O pari
I was watching the game purely from the perspective of a Nigerian. Iwobi can't justify giving the ball away as much as how did because Sanchez and Oezil gave the ball away.
If I pull Iwobi's heat maps from the first half, you will see he hardly made one accurate pass .
I dont play to the gallery of emotions when I analyze games.

Yeah, players sometimes refuse to renew.

Other times, the clubs do not consider the player as valuable enough. Usually youth players

For Omeruo, Chelsea can get a few millions so it is better to renew than risk him going on a free especially with the investment on him.
They find him worthy of investment. Hundreds of players have left Chelsea without the club putting anything on the table

You and I know that renewing contracting is not always because you consider a player to be quality. It is about preventing the player from leaving on a free transfer.

At Omeruo's age, the time for loans should be over. He should be settled and building his career.
Players still leave on free transfer every season.... I came came across a publication which claimed that Premiership clubs let go on the average close 1000 players every season. It's likes revolving door with these clubs run by capitalists.
If the think you're not worthy of the investment, they cut their losses. Without sentiments.

I beg to disagree with you on the reason for Nash's poor defense. It had to do with his footwork and athleticism and not his height. He payed in an era filled with very athletic point guards and he couldn't guard them. Besides, Chris Paul (a 6ft PG), has been nominated to the a NBA defensive team nine times while Sidney Moncrief (a 6'3 guard for the Milwaukee Bucks of the 80s) and Gary payton (a 6'4 gaurd for the Seattle Supersonics of the 90s) both won the Defensive payer of the year when they played. So i don't think his height was the reason for his poor defense

But i know he deserved both MVP awards. This is a guy who turned the fortunes of the Phoenix suns when he came from a 20+ win/season team to a play off team with 60+ wins in his first season and at least 55+ wins in subsequent seasons.
Sorry, I just saw this ..... Generally, no 2 players are the same .If you have a small PG, you have chances that you will loose a little bit of something in defence.

That said, Nash is like the Mesut Oezil of basketball.

Kenneth Omeruo is a great player. He's just one of those who were at the wrong place and the wrong time. There's no reason why he shouldn't be playing for Chelsea after the monster tournament he had at AFCON 2013. But Jose Mourinho sent him away on loan while retaining someone like Gary Cahill. I said it that time that Omeruo is a far better CB than Cahill!

I think that all those loan moves affected his game. It doesn't help your game when you're totally unsettled.

O pari
Funny enough chelsea keep renewing his contract. They could have cut him loose if they thought he was rubbish without the prospect of ROI.

Neither does it portray Omeruo as a monster.

I did not base my opinions on stats but from what i have seen.
My initial post was that he was the most inform Nigerian CB. Atleast the numbers agree with that. Monstrous was just an adjective to describe how impressive he have been.

I watch his highlights and actual game highlights. He has not been this monster.

In terms of consistently good performances, Ekong is head and shoulders above any Nigerian now.

Omeruo has been decent but monstrous is pushing it too far. His team hardly keeps clean sheets and there are times that i have felt, he was at fault for goals conceeded.
Let's not push this. Omeruo's general whoscored stats reads 7.05 while Ekong's stands at 6.90.
I wonder how 6.90 is head and shoulders above 7.05

The proof is one round of matches??

Omeruo's team has suffered some heavy defeats in recent weeks.

Against Fenerbache, they conceeded 4 barely 2 weeks ago. 3 against Trabzonspor a few days later... that is 7 goals in less than a week this december.

Ekong's led defence in Bursaspor has been far better.

In terms of consistent performances, Ekong and probably Awaziem have been better.
Not just one game. I just pulled a quick sample.
Check out Omeruo's instagram handle, you will see highlights of his games, even against Trabzonspur.
Look beyond score line if you want to scout a player.

Kenneth have been monster

To me, I'm satisfied with Idowu at LB. Not many are. Jordan Torunarigha is a left footed natural LB plays at CB at times and if Echiejile isn't going to the WB I'd take him.

We need another holding AM in place of Mikel. Joel Obi/ Aluko would do. But they are not really Rorh's spec, he likes his midfielders defence-minded.

I don't really like the Onazi-Ndidi combo, one has to drop for another, they are both high-octane performers as Mujtahida once suggested. So someone who is a bit more calm, covers those loopholes would be great, Ogu is there. Sokari and Sanusi can be added.

We need another CF that can also play at the flanks as well.

At CB, Rorh might drop both Omuero and Agbo. Omuero can only make a case for himself when he performs better. Agbo to me is a DMF, I'd never be comfortable seeing him play at CB.
Omeruo, based on current form, is the best Nigerian CB.

The award is bogus and shoddy
Awards are what they are. Hardly you can have an individual award which satisfies all parties. Yaya Toure even felt aggrieved PEA won APOTY ahead of him.

Grammies, Oscars, BET and the likes have witnessed some controversies in the past, more still to come in future. It is very human to feel hard done, when things dont go your way.

Afcon title, Afcon top scorer, confederations cup, all of these were before the 2002/2003 season.
What did he do specifically in 2003 to win the award? Mallorca was not a top team then. Some have downplayed Odemwinge in 2011 for making his exploits in WestHam.
which country won the Afcon in 2002? Whih country reprssented Africa at the 2004 confederations cup and played up to the finals?

Was Osaze one the top scorers in the Epl with (a respectable )15 goals? Amir Zaki scored same number with Wigan and won the Afcon with Egypt in 2008, yet he didn't win.
Are Egyptians hated also across Africa?

I discussed extensively how the SE defeated Cameroun ,with Bonfere giving Christian Chukwu tips in 2004 before the world cup qualifiers in Uyo.
Its laughable in your skewed imagination, I said Eto'o won the Afcon in 2004.

What Eto'o did to win in 2002/03? 2003/04?

Afcon title
Afcon top scorer
confederations cup finalist
Copa de rey (Mallorca)
Mallorca all time leading scorer
Pichichi [ 2nd to Villa while at Mallorca, lost this award on the final day]

List Obafemi Martins record for Nigeria between 2003-06. I'm asking you a second time.

No doubt he was the best shooter out of the PG's u mentioned but that is not all being a "floor general" is about. Your primary duty is not to score but to get the team going. His MVP's were as a result of the Suns rampaging but they never even made an NBA finals. I am not trying to take away from Nash but u are making him sound like MJ or something.
Make no mistake about this, Nash was a proper floor general. The only downside in his game was the defense. Obviously his 6'2 frame is a disadvantage.
Also, as a PG your shooting ability counts a lot. Stephen curry is at a different level mainly because of his shooting.

By the way, I'm not hyping up Nash like that. I just had to highlight his abilities to show Icon79, Nash wasn't some pub player who fraudulently won the Mvp.

I'm quite disappointed that you have people showing solidarity with you in a thread with an above average IQ .

The false sense of victimisation or prejudice against Nigerian players is quite worrisome, especially when you have supposed educated people sharing parochial thoughts like this.
