Lol....just saw mama gees idiotic response after over 3 years...daft troll |
I weep for my country Nigeria. 4 vibrant young men brutally murdered by fellow human beings. I have said it countless times, neither the lion, the serpent nor the great white shark is as evil as man. How can those heartless bastards live with themselves after what they have done? The average normal human being who watched the video was seriously messed up at least for a while. I wonder how then the people who dished out the fatal blows and facilitated the transition of people's kids from life to a brutal and painful death can be considered human. So far a lot of people have talked about the physical pain the boys must have felt. I challenge you to think about the fear, hopelessness and anticipation of death those boys must have felt when they heard people shouting: 'He never die" I boldly say: DEATH TO THE PERPETRATORS AND SUPPORTERS OF THIS GRIEVOUS ACT!!! May the perpetrators experience the sort of pain that it reserved for hell while they are here on earth! May they watch their children die from sudden accidents on what would otherwise have been the happiest days of their lives (e.g. weddings, birthdays etc)!!! May they themselves beg for death as their bodies waste away from unknown cancers that defy all medical treatment and MAY THAT DEATH NOT COME!!! May they experience bitterness, pain, regret and true sorrow that will make what those boys went through seem like child's play!!! Yes, as you may probably have guessed, I am one pissed Nigerian and as I said earlier I weep for this country. I hope for once something actually happens as a result of this tragedy! If the past is anything to go by however, this is highly unlikely! Years ago, the very policemen that are meant to protect us executed a group of young traders in Abuja. Why did they do this? Because a senior police officer made advances to the female member of this unfortunate group and she turned him down! Had she accepted his flirtatious advances, she might be alive today. A senior police officer of the Nigeria police force strangled the girl to death after his boys shot dead all the others! Once again I weep for my country Nigeria! Yes I know I am ranting! But please excuse me...I am in pain! Let us all watch what happens, I hope this state (which in my opinion is a completely failed state) can at least attempt to redeem herself by bringing someone to justice for the brutal murders. |
Hi good people of nairaland. I apologise if this question has been asked before but I really need to make a decision ASAP and thought I'd throw it open. I got a great deal on Virgin Atlantic to travel to the US via London but need to confirm if I will require a UK transit visa. I am solely in London for the purpose of getting my connecting flight to the US. I think its ridiculous to require any form of UK visa. The UK Border agency website states that once you have a confirmed flight, a valid US visa and are departing in less than 24 hours, you don't require the visa. The website however also states that the decision is at the discretion of an immigration officer. I'm worried that some overambitious fellow may be unaware of this concession or may just choose to be a poor decision maker on that day. Has anyone travelled via Heathrow of recent? Did you require a UK transit visa? Is it wiser to just fly on another airline such as Delta, United or KLM? Please let me know ASAP as I need to get a ticket ASAP before prices become even higher. Thanks! |
Hi everyone. New to this thread but I thought I'd contribute. Was at the US consulate in Lagos last month and sadly saw the majority of applicants there that day get denied. In my opinion, the interview process is rather humiliating and that in itself puts applicants on edge and makes them more likely to be nervous and screw up the answers to certain questions. Students were denied for things like "Not showing enough passion for the intended course" or "Not having details of the courses being offered in the intended University'. I particularly noticed that the VO's get very uncomfortable when the applicant had admission to a relatively unknown school. A former US visa interviewer who used to work at the US embassy also confirmed this fact to me. I saw at least 2 people get denied for what I can only assume was that very reason. I know its tough to get in and fees are generally higher at top schools but guess what? Its worth the extra effort plus the top schools are often more likely to offer financial aid. Seriously if I was a VO and a young professional is attempting to go to the US to study a Masters in Leadership at some random University , I would question the legitimacy of his/her claim. That being said, on the day I was there, I saw a prospective ivy league university post graduate student (think harvard/yale/princeton) get quizzed like he was a criminal (once again I say: the process is humiliating and needs to change!!!) The guy brought out all the documents in the world and they were still quizzing the chap like he was a thief. lol. Thankfully he got his visa. This goes to show that even if you have all the documents and are going to a top school, the God factor is still absolutely critical. When I saw the ivy league dude shaking that day, I doubled my prayers..lol. I was one of the last to be interviewed and the interview was the sexiest ever... Don't mean to brag about it, but honestly once the lady heard the name of the school (I'm attending a top 5 US Business School for an MBA)and the name of a company she could relate with well, I could tell from her reaction that I had the visa. To the glory of God, It lasted less than 5 minutes. Just a few routine questions and then those glorious words: "Your Visa is Approved". I had a heavy portfolio of documents but all she looked at was my I-20. I smiled all the way out and quickly forgot that I was sweating like a pig just a few minutes before...lol. All the best guys, pray hard before your interview, don't do anything that appears dodgy or try to fabricate any document. Have a coherent story cos these dudes are smart and have only one thing at the back of their minds: You want to run away to America and never come back. Your job my friends is to convince them that this is not the case. Good luck |
I took the GMAT and I got a fairly decent score, I don't think I aced it though especially when I consider those I'm benchmarking myself against. I used KAPLAN and the Official GMAT guide as well as a book by ARCO to prepare for the essays. My memory is a bit hazy on the name of the last book; took the test back in 08. Probably the most valuable resource is the set of practice tests from the MBA.com website, These will really help you prepare for the actual test day and from what I've heard and experienced the most accurate predictor of what your actual score will be. The layout is exactly the same and you will find that taking these practice tests will make you feel a lot more comfortable on test day. Finally, I used free downloadable LSAT material to practice for the verbal section. LSAT questions are particularly nasty and way harder than GMAT so if you can begin to score decent scores on the LSAT reading comprehension and critical reasoning practice tests, you'll be ready for most of what the GMAT has to offer in those sections. Above all, pray to God if you believe in Him and ask Him to calm your nerves on your test day. The moment you lose your nerve and start to panic, Its probably already over. Just relax on test day and practice a lot before cos its really all about consistent practice. Btw, I made an overall score of 740/800 (97%) : Quantitative 49 (88%) Verbal 42 (95%) and 6.0/6.0 (91%) in AWA. |
tensor777:They should react to the story or the fisherman (if they can find him) and not to me @ Oweniwe You know you're upsetting me. Why? Because of your stupid comment, I have to leave my deliverable and respond to your senseless rant. Before trying to portray yourself as 'Captain Planet' , try to focus on the main message of my post which is: THINK BIG. Stop looking for pieces of irrelevant detail and diverting the crowd from the real message. Remember I said in my earlier post, don't act stupid, it doesn't suit you (I'm assuming you aren't really a stupid person but just an underachiever who routinely seeks to announce his presence by seeking out irrelevant details in otherwise watertight arguments) In any case, all the terms in my response are relative and not absolute, (1) several people does not mean 100,000, it could mean 20, (2) Have you ever been to a real village, trust me you would know that even a low income earner like you could build a school that is good by village standards, (3) Subsidizing health care could involve tasks as basic as supplying the hospital with syringes and medicine so customers don't have to bear this cost. (4) Large enterprise is not equal to overfishing, for all you care, he may even diversify to other businesses at some point (5) Lots of money doesn't necessarily mean a billion dollars, it's very relative depending on the setting In the future, make sure your arguments are well thought out before you present them in response to posts by people like me, We could go on for ever, I'll only make you look even more stupid each time. |
aspabay:Aspabay, how does this qualify as a joke? Are you so daft you can't tell? I'd gladly go to hell if I got confirmation you were in heaven cos even the angels would be infected by your contagious stupidity. You really should have on a dunce hat for your unintelligent outburst. In any case, if you can read, you would have seen that I started with "Some of you have probably seen this before". You've upset me so! Please go to a dark place and shoot yourself, you would reduce the world's stupidity by at least 50%. Meanwhile, for everyone else that has criticized the OP, is it that you can't read or you've just generally chosen to act dim? (if its an act, stop it, behaving stupidly doesn't suit you) All I said is that it contains a lesson well worth 'considering' not well worth 'accepting'. I haven't even taken a stand on the issue. This is simply just to sample the opinions of nairalanders on the topic, For your info, see below my opinion on the issue. I posted it on the website where I read this story originally. "so what’s wrong with the I-Banker’s suggestion?? The fisherman is just a lazy unambitious slowpoke. I thought so when I read this story the first time and I think so now. With a large enterprise and lots of money, the fisherman could develop his village, provide employment to several people, subsidize health care and build good schools. Only a lazy fellow would dream of spending his days the way the fisherman has suggested. Mind you, the banker did not try to convince him to get a job trading FISH futures on wall street, he only advised him to THINK BIG and convert a tiny fishing venture into something bigger. He will actually be adding value to society. If thinking big is a bad thing, I’m certain Bill Gates, Oprah, Jeff Bezos, The Walton Family and several dot com heavyweights (that have made sites like this possible) are all very evil people. Before you find comfort in your mediocrity, think of the good the above people have done to the world because they chose to think big and not to have siestas with their wives or play guitars with their amigos all day." |
"Some of you have probably heard this story before. It contains a lesson well worth considering. An investment banker stood at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The banker complimented the fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisherman replied, “Only a little while.” The banker then asked why didn’t he stay out longer and catch more fish? The fisherman said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs. The banker then asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?” The fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siestas with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine, and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life.” The investor scoffed, “I am an Ivy League MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats, and eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. “The investor continued, “And instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would then sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing, and distribution! You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles and eventually New York City, where you will run your expanding enterprise.” The fisherman asked, “But how long will this all take?” To which the banker replied, “Perhaps 15 to 20 years.” “But what then?” asked the fisherman. The banker laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions!” “Millions. Okay, then what?” wondered the fisherman. To which the investment banker replied, “Then you would retire. You could move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siestas with your wife, and stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.” What do you think? CRAZY? It has to be during NYSC, Lol, Thats wat happens wen u throw young vibrant boys and girls into the bushes in distant lands; they hav 2 be entertained somehow. Somehow convinced my corper girlfiend to get topless in the middle of the night, follow me outside to the back of the corpers lodge and give me a B.J, lol, Was absolutely fantastic until a fellow corps member decided to go to the bathroom which incidentally is also behind the lodge; we ended up running and hiding (both semi nude) in a maize farm till the coast was clear, LOL Several other insane rendevous exist in that great year of community service, lol, e.g in an empty classroom one day at the school where we were deployed; teachers, (students and other corps members were just a stonethrow away), once at night in a pitch black room while intermittently contributing to the ongoing gist , lol (@ least nepa's uselessness is good for sumthin) Thinking back in retrospect, it was more than crazy, it was insane esp. given our NYSC location, getting caught def wouldnt have been a cool experience, But then again, do I miss those days? HELL YEAH!!! ![]() |
Bloody bastard isn't even remorseful He has only shown what a violent tout he really is. Qualify or not; for such a violent outburst, this dude should b punished gravely, YES BY FIFA, For ruining our game against Greece by such stupid violence, He should also be banned ,at least for a while, from the National Team. For not owning up to his own foolishness, i think his puishment should be especially severe; just look at the way he went down with all pretence as if to say "im being victimized" when indeed the retard attacked another player. Please dont accept this pompous and insincere apology from this motor park tout. HE DESERVES A LOT OF PUNISHMENT!!! |
With the upcoming elections, Being a skilled Hired Killer is going to be a very lucrative profession. Can u pple not see clear bizness oportunities ![]() |
I've heard this argument countless times of Nigerians in the U.K barely making enough to survive and being jealous of Nigerians who come to visit. I think that is the most d-i-m-w-i-t-t-e-d thing ive ever heard and i tell people all the time. Well I guess it all depends on the Nigerians you associate with in the U.K, ![]() Riff raffs, drop outs and pple who generally relocated to the U.K with no clear ambitions, goals or PLANS I live in Nigeria but I do have friends and family doing very well in the U.K and I havent sensed any jealousy so far, Wanna know Why? Cos they are educated and enlightened people: A cousin and a close friend work in Investment Banks and Consulting respectively (Goldman Sachs & Mckinsey to be specific) My cuz is a Medical Doctor in London; last time I saw her, trust me she def didnt hav any reason to be JEALOUS, LOL Another friend works in an Oil and Gas coy and she also doesent seem jealous at all to me o, lol And oh, my kid brother who doesent work yet is currently and CONSISTENTLY topping his class at IMPERIAL College; I wonder if he is jealous of his friends and family in UNILAG, U.I and OAU, LMAO The brokest of my relatives (when comparing him to the others) works for a Big Four Accounting Firm and compared to pple on the same level who work for the Nigeria Office of the same big four accounting firm, i think he is better off in several ways, Dont mean to blow my friends and family member's trumpets but I hate it when pple come up with inferences from silly and skewed statistics. Fact u associate with riff raffs, broke asses and never do wells in the U.K who hav reason to be jealous of you doesent in any way mean all Nigerians in the U.K are jealous and broke. Nothing Personal; Just wanted to crush that misguided myth of the ORIGINAL POSTER, Cheers |
benabbey:Since when did profitability at a minimal cost become a sin; i think its a worthy objective. As an entrepreneur, would u strive for profitability at a maximum cost People at times fail to realize that the core goal of a business is to make profit and not to enrich employees.Striking out early as an entrepreneur is an excellent thing to do but getting some work experience, exposure and professionalism in a solid corporate environment before striking out on your own could even be much better in SOME cases. The importance of aquiring strong workplace value, cultures and professional skills (from a solid institution!!!) cannot be overemphasized. Meanwhile @ poster: i think FBN is a better option, trust me, i should know @ Babaogun: Your entry level salary quotes are hilariously inaccurate, Please my boss is nearby, dont let me laugh my career away ![]() |

Do you even know what full option means ![]() This car has fabric seats and a freakin TAPE player! Please how is it full option? Whats ur ODOMETER saying or do u plan to hide that from us? |
Why why do u keep posting such horrible pics of vehicles, blurry, oversized and unable to use to arrive at any reasonable conclusion on the physical attributes of the vehicle ![]() Moderator, would it be too much to ask if standards were enforced on picture quality and info requirements in the auto section?; i think this poster and others like him are deliberately trying to withhold info, trick potential buyers and waste our time. Long HISS |
Please what do you mean by low mileage? is it an attempt to withhold specific info? ; kindly specify the mileage so i can know if i am interested or not, ![]() |

This is untrue stuff pal, While KPMG Nigeria seeks to recruit the best, they are wise enough to realize that being the 'best' is not simply a function of what school you attended, Ive got colleagues from Leicester University and Manchester Business School, Im pretty certain if the U.K had an Ivy league these schools wouldn't exactly be members. On the homefront, the First Class thing is a blatant lie, How do I know? Cos Im looking at my transcript now and I do not see first class anywhere even though I work at KPMG, YES! There are a large no. of 1st Class grads but hey!, with the right attitude, drive, determination and ambition a graduate with a 2.1 can significantly outperform a first class grad, At the end of the day, it boils down to a lot more than ur grades,,,KPMG realizes this and implements this into their recruitmrnt process. |
