^^^O boy how far na. Trust you are doing great. Enjoy!!! OjaP: @ gongo aso,do u have an idea of schools which accepts low Gre scores?my friend wants to apply for spring and he has a gre of 940 and gpa of 2.7.what do u think are his chances?What schools should he apply to?he is going for masters in Biochemistry. I am not familiar with such schools if they exist. While some schools waive the GRE totally though, most require you have at least a 1100. I am assuming the GP you listed too is outta 5. Pretty low but not impossible to get admission with. Another thing is your friend might not want to go to an anyhow school too. Final note, you friend should target schools that waive the GRE totally. @Olule Appreciate your appreciation |

@laughter what you heard is correct, F1 status does not depend on state or school, its same. Excessive light has been shed on these issue in previous pages of this thread. It cannot be said better than it has been said before. Don't go to US to school without your finances planned out. Do not bank on working as a student to survive ' cept of course, you have full funding. Congrats to all those who have their visas. Wishing you guys the very best. |

emeritus05: to those saying UNILORIN can never top the list of the best universities in nigeria,well u re all entitled to your opinions.but fact is,that school didnt just get there by chance,they ve been buliding towards it for a while now.some1 posted on this thread earlier that his cousin was in 3rd class in his first year but graduated with 2.2 in U.I and that if it was UNILORIN maybe his cousin would ve had 2.1.I can tell u that am a 2.1 graduate of university of Ilorin,and ve had my 2.1 since my first year and we were just 2 overall in my department dat had an UPPER.Infact the year i graduated(2003),there was just one 1.1 dats to tell u d type of driling we went tru!.To all those shouting U.I,UNILAG,OAU yes these are great school but this 2010,next year it could be any of them.so pls let UNILORIN be they truly deserve it.I am talking about a school that the sale of hand-out is prohibited.in all of my 4 years i didnt buy one singe hand-out,and the reasons are to make (1)students attend classes,(2)visit the library. i rest my case! |

shilling: 5.30, OMG!!! The US embassy where I live won't even be open at that time. I arrived there between 7 & 7.30. My interview was at 8.30. But, it's definitely advisable to get there early although on the day of my interview, the consular called names out when it was time to be interviewed. I think it was alphabetically, my 2 names start with B, so I was prob the 3rd or 4th person to be interviewed. guess ur name sounds something like Basket Ball Congrats House. . . Wish the rest guys good luck!!! And for those doubting the maths aspect of that interview posted up there. . .I say Ignorance is bliss |

bebure: Mehn. U dey fear me. He isn't my uncle uncle. Just one of those close family friends that I call uncle. He was a guest at my graduation if that helps and I only had three guests including my mum. All this talk of affidavit to me seems a bit much and as u said they didn't ask u for it. My mum' been paying all our overseas fees for years and the guy just wanted to do something nice and its seemingly turning into a nightmare. The best I can do is take the graduation pictures, take my mum' statement as well as his and hope it goes well. But I honestly dont think they'll ask for proof that we are blood relatives. If they do I'll say we aren't and show them my mum's statement instead. Why are you bent on creating a problem that doesn't exist in the first place at all? Sure you must have gone through this thread from A-Z. Have you read anywhere where anyone was asked to prove relationship with their sponsor? NO. Go with your uncle's statements. IF you are asked who is sponsoring you, say. . .your uncle confidently and IF asked for his statements, present it with a letter stating he is your uncle and he will be responsible for you financially. SIMPLES. No unnecessary explanation weda/wedant he attended your graduation or you had 147 guests |

How does one get to the US embassy in Abuja?If you are able to describe in the local Nigerian style, that would be great. Wherever you are in Abuja metropolis, hail a cab and tell him you are going to the American embassy. A drop should be 200 bucks or there about. As netose said, wake early and flag a cab. Remember, no bikes and buses don't ply that route. |

nairaspace: thanks man! i am reapplying, i already paid for appointment and mrv fee today!!! so i want to book for another appointment,
@all how can i get an emergency appointment? and wht will be the content of the message, thank you!!!
This was how it went
Q: why are u going to the us? A: study Q: which school A: i told him Q: how many schools did you apply to? A: i told him Q: Why this school A: i choose the institution cos of the availabilty of my course which will in turn boost my dream aspiration. their laboratories are well equiped and the proffesor-student realtionship is awesome. thereby creating room for easily learning Q: where is it located? A:i told him
Q: where is the State located on the US Map? A: no idea! Q: what courses are you going to take to achieve this degree? A: stammered!
Bolded parts placed me off balance!!! types for some seconds and , sorry i cant issue u a visa now, Not to be disappointed, but methinks you should wait awhile before reapplying. ^^^Chief, will you quit confusing yourself with your 'if this or that' tactics Go with a bank account statement that has a year's tuition and living expenses in it. You won't be asked for details about your previous admissions or not-admissions. Then you have been told earlier to present your WAEC. That is what will be asked from you, not NECO. Go for your interview and tell it as it is. SIMPLES. You are in charge of the interview in a way, please make it simple for yourself. |

OjaP: @ Laughter,do u know the required docs to take along to the embassy for interview if i say i am working in my dad's compay which i am even a shareholder in.Your Urgent response is required ps.Can i also present my NECO cert since my WAECis not good.What miminum balance do you think can be in his statement of acct.What questions do u think they may ask? Guess why your question has remained unanswered is cos it's been answered time and time again on this thread. Well for benefit of doubt, whether you are a shareholder or not doesn't concern the consular. Take a SIMPLE bank statement. Finish. For minimum balance, make sure the amount covers a year's tuition and living expenses. Then take your WAEC if you have it. The results therein does not concern the consular, they are more interested in the authenticity of the certificate. Although you might get some praise if you have excellent results, which may have little or no effect on you being granted the VISA. masepat: @Gongo aso

Thanks for you logical analysis about the two schools. Well, I think, just like you, I also prefer the USA. But do you think if I can be able to meet up with the FALL2010. Thanks
@Gongo aso
Please read between the line, I have my question stated clearly. All the same, I like the way you have been helping out in here. God bless you! Ok. Anyways, it is rather late for you to meet the August Resumption if you dont have your I-20 by now. Mail UT and tell them you are deferring your admission till Spring i.e. Jan. There will be more than enough time to do all the necessary before then. As per US or Canada, take solace in this. . . MOST people's final academic destination is the US. and BTW, methinks and knows getting the US visa is easier than Canadian Ok, I stand to be corrected. . . though I doubt I will be corrected G'luck! |

@charlie193 So, what exactly is the problem U don't seem to have one 'cept u are bent on creating one for yourself @masepat Simple. No two ways of going about it. Go for your interview and if asked, tell them your uncle is your sponsor. |
