Zahra29:You've just said a lot of nothing. Typical. 👍🏿 |
Badenough was in Epping on Monday saying how asylum seekers should be kept in camps and not town. Whatever you think of that opinion, when thinking about what she means and how she would implement it if she had power, what you need to remember is that while she raced to Epping to speak in support of those attacking a hotel housing asylum seekers, she did not and has still not said one word about the widespread riots of last year when minorities (not necessarily immigrants because the rioters were attacking people based on how they looked not checking their immigration status) were being hunted and attacked in the streets. Do you realize how incredible it is that someone whose political platform is founded in being an immigrant and who is now atop one of the country's leading parties, did not say anything at all in those circumstances? Not even a lukewarm statement just calling for calm. Nothing. In the time of greatest danger by people just like her, she chose silence. She would not have stayed silent had it been any other group in fear for their lives like that. When her defenders want to lie and make you think it's only because she insults Nigeria that people dislike her, remember that. |
lavida001:LavidaLoca I thought you were going away to find your tribe. Nobody wanted you àbí what happened? |
Zahra29:You may not have used the exact words but you very clearly implied that she had done something to favor the country, and that it was an indication of her support, as compared to Sunak, Patel and co who had not struck deals with India et al. It's extremely clear that's what you meant. Why are you trying to deny it? |
Zahra29:Lol. It has never had anything to do with this. I have never seen that raised by anyone. Ironically, it's because of false narratives like this that you get challenged but I guess 'woe is me; they are attacking me for being a woman!' is a comfortable emotion for you, so you do you. |
lavida001:So, let me get this straight. You rail at everyone about the need to fix Nigeria but you won’t go home till you’re 60 nor will you do anything from abroad because you want a “simple minimal life”. So all your purpose will be to laugh at Nigeria and laugh at the UK as well like you’ve been doing. Sounds awfully like you’re one of those “can’t be nothing can’t change nothing” people you keep railing about. Ehyah. |
.. |
Goke7:See! I was thinking about it on a drive today and trying to see if maybe my memory had somehow become warped. I won't pretend I enjoyed the grass cutting at the time but for heaven's sake, equating it to prison work is just off the rails. At the time, if you had a health issue or whatever, you'd be exempted. Not saying Nigerian schools were or are perfect but isn't it that same school she was able to leave at 16 and resume her education in the UK and then begin to do well? If it was completely usesless would she have been able to use that education as the foundation for her career as she did? That's the point many people are not getting (or pretending not to get) - she's not telling her 'truth'. She's weaponizing her experiences by using exaggerated and sometimes outrightly false depictions of Nigeria, to reinforce that she's 'not like the rest of them'. Abi can someone explain how someone can live in Nigeria for 16 years and say she never felt at home there but the day she arrived the UK she "felt at home." This is the same person that would have you believe people can't truly integrate until they've spent 15 years or so but she felt at home on the very day she arrived, despite her only prior connection being that her mother had delivered her here as one of the last anchor babies under the birthright citizenship loophole*. *Because Badenites have told us here that every immigration route that was subsequently removed was a loophole. |
Zahra29:You’re either being deceitful or disingenuous if you're claiming that the only reason people dislike badenough is because she has “denigrated” Nigeria. To start with, that's enough reason on its own for many Nigerians to take issue with her, especially when that same Nigerian heritage is part of what she used to climb up here in the UK. But more importantly, her long track record of offensive and dismissive comments—about everything from autism to immigration to care workers, maternity pay (after having written about how good her own maternity benefits were as an MP) etc—has alienated a wide range of people well beyond the Nigerian community. She's a smug, condescending hypocrite. Doesn't matter whether she's Nigerian or not. She's worthy of dislike on those bases. As for the idea that Nigeria is insulted regularly anyway, and so her words should be ignored—that logic is completely flawed. It's like saying that if you've been bullied for years, you should welcome a new bully with open arms because, well, you're used to it. The fact that Nigeria has had to endure negative stereotypes in the past makes it all the more damaging when someone in her position, with a Nigerian heritage and a high-profile platform, chooses to reinforce those same narratives. And let’s be clear: pushing back against her rhetoric doesn’t mean people aren’t doing their part to improve Nigeria. Criticism and active engagement are not mutually exclusive. |
Zahra29:See, you need to relax and let that bee in your bonnet rest for a while. I understand what Kemi's trying to say - I think it's nonsensical but I see it nonetheless. The point was about how a young child would understand it. I expect any child would ask questions when presented with Kemi's fantastical idea of how she was born to Nigerian parents and moved here at 16 but is British through and through and not Nigerian in any way other than her parentage, having declared it so on a podcast. I know you love to have the last word so feel free to drop that and then move on eh. I'm resting my case here. I need to get back to my workout. |
Goke7: I cannot fathom her motives but she will retire (or be retired, more likely) from politics soon enough and we'll see what she does next.I'm pretty sure she'll carry on with her anti-Nigerian schtick because honestly what else is she known for other than being a culture warrior? |
Zahra29:My writeup was lenghty because it was neccessary for it to be. Yours was lenghty because you were going on a tangent chasing a wild goose and attacking a strawman that you made up for yourself. It's good that you've clarified Kemi's identity for the poster sha. I'm still not sure how the heritage part gels given that she doesn't identify as Nigerian at all but I'll take your word for it. |
Zahra29:Lol. Not sure what this epistle is for. I didn’t say Kemi hasn’t accomplished great things for herself. I said I wished the person luck in explaining Kemi’s identity to their daughter given her shapeshifting ways. Gbógbó ẹjọ́ yìí ò neccessary. |
Raalsalghul:Everybody will see it eventually. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sholamos-shogbamimu_kemi-badenoch-no-longer-identifies-as-nigerian-ugcPost-7357113857565159424-Osfy Remember, in the early days when she was running for office she appealed specifically to Nigerians to “support a Nigerian who is trying to improve our national image”. Now she says even when she was in Nigeria (allegedly before she knew she was entitled to UK citizenship), she "never really felt at home there" I can't remember who the person was that was going to make Kemi their daugher's role model but I really with them luck with explaining who and what Kemi is in the first instance. Let's continue watching sha. I know this chapter of Olukemi Olufunto badenough (née Adegoke), Defender of Western Civilisation, and her war on Nigeria, will come to an end one day, one way or another.

Fred2020:You’re welcome. Whatever you do, don’t let him get that money without getting your payment back. I’ve had so much trouble with a tradesperson recently that I’ve begun looking into proper trades training courses because I hate being at anyone’s mercy and it seems that’s what tradespeople love putting their clients through the most. Recently had to threaten one with a lawsuit, because of how much he has dragged my project out. |
Fred2020:Ask him to pay you from elsewhere and get his money back once his account is unblocked. Under no circumstances should you ask the bank to unblock it because once you do you will not have any further recourse. He, on the other hand, has 100% confidence of getting his money once he pays you. One thing though - can he not give a written instruction to the bank to pay you first and then you withdraw the complaint and his account will be unblocked? |
headofschool:Buy a Yaris. As long as you get one that has been well maintained, it'll be very reliable and economical to fuel/maintain. EVs are a great idea (assuming you can charge at home) but the Spring isn't intended as a main car. It has very low range and is best suited for being a second car for school runs, grocery shopping etc. If you can up your budget to the price of a new Spring and want an EV, you should consider getting a used Hyundai Kona or Kia Niro instead. |
Meogom:Congratulations! All the best in your new home. |
Goke7:Exactly. The bolded is what she what she was doing and it was very deliberate. Is it not the same spousal route that they made substantially harder recently, for the spouses to even be able to come live in the UK at all before talking citizenship? She, personally, proposed stricter measures beyond the increased salary on spousal visas, so that’s why she chose to lie about her children instead. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/33766077/migrant-salary-minimum-visa-kemi-tories/ |
RodgersAkpafu:Okay. |
RodgersAkpafu:Okay. |
justwise:Do you mean PiggyVest? If so, it’s very reliable. They’ve been around a while and are regulated by the CBN (they acquired a MicroFinance Bank) and SEC so reasonably assured. |
ehizario2012:😄 Boss take am easy o. Seriously though, I find the idea of sleepovers weird (maybe it’s just how I was brought up but aren’t all the daytime hours enough to play with friends and then go and sleep under your parents’ roof?’ and especially with the way deviance and molestation has become so commonplace nowadays even among people one would least expect it from, I certainly would never approve a sleepover for a 13 year old child. |
Goke7:To be honest at this point I’m convinced it’s a mental issue of some kind, because it’s something that’s so easy to verify and she must have known it would be fact-checked very quickly. I also cannot believe she didn’t know because again it’s such a basic thing that if she had ever done 1 minute of research to find out for the sake of her children, she’d know the real position. Alternatively, maybe she just doesn’t care about the truth or being fact-checked because she knows the base she’s appealing to who jump on anything to justify their animus against immigrants (especially Africans) are too dumb/lazy to fact check anything. I’m sure in the Daily Mail comment sections you’ll see this repeated over and over now till it becomes the truth in certain circles and if you try to educate them it’ll be as if you’re the one who’s lying or ignorant - much like all the tales of asylum seekers being given iPhones and luxury cars as they get off the boats. |
More proof that Badenough is a pathological liar: Interview: https://edition.cnn.com/2025/07/20/world/video/gps0720-britain-immigration-badenoch Rebuttal: https://www.thecable.ng/badenoch-my-children-cant-get-nigerian-citizenship-because-im-a-woman-yet-nigerians-easily-become-british/ Direct link to Nigerian constitution to preempt those who would rather rely on quotes from random people saying what they want to hear, as usual: http://www.nigeria-law.org/ConstitutionOfTheFederalRepublicOfNigeria.htm#Chapter_3 Section 25. (1) clearly states that her children can get citizenship through her. Why on earth would she tell such a blatant lie? |
Lincoln4u:Your case is complex. Contact a lawyer. It’ll have a cost attached but will be worth it. |
jedisco:I am quite confused as well. The initial message D1uncle posted was that it was the state agent (which implies the seller's rep, unless it was a typo) who asked if they hadn't bought things. What's the business of the estate agent with that and why would they be getting in touch with OP's lender? OP, I think you should contact both your mortgage advisor and the estate agent and find out if they've contacted Barclays. If they haven't just tell them that you're paying everything off and clear it since you have the cash. If they haven't, then jury wait and see what Barclays says. I think it's an extremely minor issue especially since it wasn't a new line of credit, and won't cause any delays. Barclays will likely just say you should pay it off, if that. |
Zahra29:The only reason why it makes more sense to you is because it fits the narrative you love to push, and your MO of hiding behind other people's statements when you're unwilling to take a stance of your own or too lazy to do the checks neccessary to find things out for yourself. Otherwise, why couldn't you just Google it and find out if it was the case the Nigeria only granted 3 month visas to Americans? Didn't you even consider whether it's plausible from a common sense standpoint? Here are some links that might help educate you - https://immigration.gov.ng/info-center/visiting-multiple-entry-visa-f6b/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Nigeria/comments/1am3lo2/2024_nigerian_visa_for_us_citizens/ NOWHERE in any of the US government's communications did they state that the measure was in response to Nigeria only issuing 3 months visa to Americans so there's really no basis for the 'reasoning' that you adopted. By the way, one wonders why a news organisation like the BBC could not simply definitively confirm whether Nigeria was only issuing three months visas to Americans or not, and instead had to rely on a random lawyer's soundbite, but then it makes sense because how else will they mislead the Zahra29s of this world without explicitly lying and getting called out for it? |
ehizario2012:Lifetime Legal, right? It's unfortunately common for the vendor's agent to ask this payment, although 75 is on the high side. The fee is for them to conduct AML checks as part of their compliance obligations. Normally the vendor ought to pay since they're the one getting a service but many agents are now pushing it onto the buyer so they can reduce the costs they charge to the seller and market themselves as cheaper than their competitors as a result. You could push back and see what they say - it all depends on if you're willing to lose the purchase and if your seller's willing to lose the sale. |
ehizario2012:No you should NEVER use the agent's solicitor. Get your own that's working exclusively for you. They'll try to push you on it and make it seem as if without it the sale won't proceed but you're much better off getting a separate solicitor to represent you in the transaction. |
RodgersAkpafu:Whether he actually gets deported or not is irrelevant to the lesson I meant. Although saying that, I recognize we can all see different lessons from any issue so it's alright that your takeaway is different. |
The sweetest thing about this latest Muck v Rump catfighting is how Rump has now joined in emphasizing that Musk's "home" is actually in South Africa. Before it was just fringe far right figures that talked about how Musk is actually an immigrant himself (and in some cases said he should be deported) but now Trump has joined in too. There's a lesson here for those who care to take note. https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/donald-trump-threatens-to-slash-tesla-subsidies-elon-musk-tell-him-to-cut-it-all-8806183/amp/1
