Zahra29:It’s deduction - drawing from your previous comments to understand what you mean with new ones, even when you try to disguise them with irrelevancies as usual. It’s called logic. You might find it useful to read about. |
Zahra29:Correct but irrelevant. You were the one who started with the complaining comparisons, and there was no mention of being law abiding and patriotic etc because that’s irrelevant. The vast majority of immigrants are incredibly hard working and law abiding as well, so that’s irrelevant as well. The only reason you’re bringing these up now is because you want to reinforce that immigrants shouldn’t be speaking up about anything, like the way you said black people (not even just people from that person’s country) shouldn’t be crying when they are profiled after the crimes by a random black person. |
fatima04:Actually, there appears to be a consensus among researchers that day care is bad (read: terrible) for children up until the age of 21/2 or so; and even then it should be for limited periods of no more than half a day - https://criticalscience.medium.com/on-the-science-of-daycare-4d1ab4c2efb4 |
OgbeniOptional:A year ago I'd have disagreed very vehemently with you but I've increasingly seen that my situation (sponsored right out of school and sponsored again by another organisation in a much more senior role < a year later) and those of quite a few people I know, may have been outliers. It seems the system now, deliberately or inadvertently, strongly funnels immigrants into care work even when they are very qualified for other roles. In any case, I still strongly believe people can and should continue to actively make efforts to move to professional roles, but yes I acknowledge it's easier said than done. All the best to everyone. |
Zahra29:Good. Thanks. I have had a quick scan through and will read it fully later. It's absurd how incompetent the folks responsible are/were. Doesn't matter how short-staffed they were - some of the errors in there should mean those in charge shouldn't have responsibility for anything other than maybe waiting tables at McDonald's ever again. |
studyless123:💯 to the bolded. It’s a huge failure on the Home Office’s part. If they dont have systems in place to spot such huge anomalies as a company that employed 16 people issuing over 1,200 (one thousand, two hundred!) COSs, then it’s gross incompetence and the people in charge deserve to lose their jobs. If I have time over the weekend I’ll try to write some questions and send an FOI to them to find out more because honestly I find the apparent laxity impossible to believe. |
Cyberknight:Lol, as for me looking it up was just because of professional interest (more like curiosity really since probate is extremely distant from my specialism). But I wouldn’t mind an unexpected inheritance ṣa so maybe it won’t be a bad idea to keep an eye on it from now on 😄. |
lavida001:There. Fixed for you. The full list contains 5806 unclaimed estates. The practice has been in existence for several centuries, and the bulk of them are people born in the UK/Europe, and countries around the world are there too. It's only you who could possibly see 57 from Nigeria and interpret it as proof of exploitation or something being wrong with yourself. |
Seen all the hysteria about Ofsted’s Hamid Patel announcement? https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/in-defence-of-hamid-patel/ |
Lolli2pop:The person needs to get a lawyer who will file a petition with the SFU/EFCC. Should ideally be one with experience in such matters. The above is assuming the scammer is a known person, and not one of those scams where the person was deceived into paying money into a random account. Still possible to get some money back but the odds are much lower in that case. Either way, speed is essential. |
Taal17:NHS England is a separate organisation. They don't run any hospitals or services. More like a regulator role for the overall NHS system of Trusts, ICBs, etc. If you're asking from the perspective of job concerns, then you aren't affected, don't worry. Those affected directly are those working in NHS England itself. |
Zahra29:Noted for the next time a discussion comes up about 'underlying causes.' That war caused ¬200,000 civilian deaths, 4.4 million internally displaced people and 2.3 million refugees scattered across various countries. |
AgentXxx:Google “London tube activist ads”. People post them to mimic real ads. Of course they get taken down but they often go viral in the interim. I’ve looked this one up and it seems real. |
justwise:It likely is. I haven’t seen it personally though but other similar stuff have been posted. It’s not an official ad. It’s activists doing it. |
On the subject of Vance shading the UK? According to our resident mealy-mouthed defender of western civilization, he actually did not; “Kemi Badenoch defends JD Vance over ‘random country’ comments Speaking to GB News, Badenoch said: “I know JD Vance quite well. I’ve looked at the comments, I don’t think he actually said that! A lot of people are getting carried away. They’re saying loads of things and getting quite animated let’s keep cool heads. “America is our closest ally and I believe that President Trump and JD Vance want peace, they’re looking after their national interests, we need to do so as well.” When Badenoch was asked if she therefore believed Vance had been referring to France instead of the United Kingdom, she responded: “I’m not getting into that speculation.” “ https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/kemi-badenoch-defends-jd-vance-over-random-country-comments-390380/ Looks like Badenough is only a warrior capable of talking straight when it comes to care workers, and she’s always definitive about their plans, culture, morals etc etc. When it comes to others she becomes afraid of getting into speculation. ![]() |
*Deleted as just saw Justwise has already provided the best answer. |
wallg123:What do you think about Trump’s plan for the US to own Gaza and build a resort there? Have you seen the video of his vision for the place? |
Konquest:The good thing is that it has shattered any pretences of ideology associated with (non humanitarian) residency/citizenship. It's an open market with a clear price on the goods (although certain people love to change the terms midway). You can pay 5M there or go elsewhere and pay however much over 5/6/10 years of working and paying taxes. Pay the price and get what you’ve paid/worked for. Nobody’s doing you a favour. |
jedisco:Indeed. I'm particularly interested in what she herself contributed to the UK during the years she was languishing(/s) in highbrow Lagos before she discovered that she was entitled to British citizenship, since she believes people ought to do a lot more to earn citizenship. Was she working and paying taxes remotely, perhaps? ![]() |
Goke7:I don't think it was racist in any way. At all. It's an accurate summary of all the grandstanding she has been doing. Just search her name and the word culture to see all her comments. E.g. just look at this article where she said she loves being a culture warrior - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd75n1jlv2eo |
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/starmer-accuses-badenoch-desperate-search-123457910.html The brave, straight-talking Kemi Badenoch had another catastrophe at PMQs today, and ended up complaining to You'd almost feel sorry for her...until you remember how she reffered to care workers as butt wipers. It looks like her real value lies in her ability to provide entertainment, and she's doing well at that, to be fair. |
TV01:Fair enough. I don’t agree with your definition fully, but it’s six vs half a dozen anyway. |
TV01:How isn’t she an immigrant? |
Came across a brief news piece about these guys in a newspaper some time ago - looks like they’re going mainstream - https://apple.news/A2oggubLnSkOv_2uKx1FeaA Stay aware. |
Zahra29:I consider it a thing of pride that my posts are considered unreasonable by someone who thinks like you. |
Zahra29:This is my last word on this because you keep dodging the point as usual and it's tiresome now. The issue is not that those things don't happen to other groups or that it's not 'normal'. Do you think anyone here needs you to tell them that any time a crime is committed by a Nigerian or a black person, it reflects badly on them and may have repercussions for them, especially after the riots? Do you think we don't all feel apprehension whenever a crime is announced knowing that even if 10 crimes had been committed by other people, the one by an immigrant or black person will embolden certain people to say/do harmful things? Just take a look at the shooting in Sweden. Even before any announcement was made about the shooter's identity, there was a lot of commentary about how it's an immigrant or it's a muslim or whatever. We now know it wasn't and that actually it was someone targeting immigrants, so as usual the commentary has cooled off, but many of those initial posts are still circulating on Twitter, Telegram and elsewhere, emboldening the next person who's going to arm themselves to take potshots at immigrants, or try to set fire to a hotel housing asylum seekers. We know it's a thing. You're not providing any insight as you seem to think, by saying that it's a fact of life. The point is that you saying that people will begin 'crying racism'. Your use of that phrase makes it clear you think people who do call it out as being racist ought to somehow share responsibility for it. That phrase was racist. That's the point. |
Zahra29:These red herring arguments are ridiculous. Let me break this down in more simple terms: First, the point is not that sometimes people don’t get profiled for other things. It’s that if an innocent person were to voice out about being unfairly profiled, they would never be told (assuming the person they’re speaking with has common sense) that they are “crying discrimination” because they have every right to speak against being unfairly targeted and not to be burdened by random peoples crimes. Second, nobody has said all profiling is bad or racist. The point was profiling based on nationality and nothing else. Your point about intelligence profiling leading to the prevention of knife crime doesn’t make sense because police “intelligence” implies credible information, and not just “that’s a Nigerian/black person/Eastern European/disabled person) so let’s arrest them because another Nigerian/black person/Eastern European/disabled person was caught committing a crime at some point”. That is racism and not anything to do with intelligence, just like any attempt to equate the two. |
Zahra29:Nobody said that’s not how the system works - that’s the whole point. We know it is racism and will call it out as any sensible and moral person should because it makes zero sense to be held responsible for the actions of someone just because they are Nigerian like me and 200 million other people. The point is that you said that people who speak up against it are “crying racism”, dismissing it and making it seem that they ought to accept responsibility for being profiled for no other reason than that they share a nationality with this person? From your own examples, would you have told a group of elderly people that if they speak up about being discriminated against based on the actions of a random few people whom they share nothing with other than being disabled, that they were “crying discrimination”? No you would not have, and it’s clear why now. To be clear, the point is not what society thinks or how society behaves, it is that your comment has shown how you think, no matter how much you try to dress it up in ‘independent critical thought’. |
Zahra29:But it would, in fact, be racism to profile black folk on the basis of the actions of this person and however many clients she had. I had never heard about anyone impersonating people in that exam. I didn’t know it was possible or that it would even be something anyone would consider for the same reasons you stated. Nothing I’ve seen indicates that it’s widespread or common or even beyond this person. Therefore, it would be the very definition of racism to profile people based on it. You should reflect on why you can’t see that and instead are saying people who call it racism would be “crying racism” It is well documented that very many british people have been going around the world for sex tourism (including preying on children), but I’m sure you wouldn’t say that a British person who says they ought not to be profiled based on that, is “crying racism”. Whether intended or not, this behavior of ascribing responsibility for the bad behaviors of individuals to a collective group and using it to justify abuses is the very essence of racism, and it’s the same thing you have always done. There’s a clear line from this sort of thinking to the legitimization of the attacks on non-white people during the riots last year. Not sure it matters to you but you should know that. |
jedisco:Hearing her talk about how citizenship should be a privilege people should work for and not a right is amusing considering her grass to grace story is that she didn't even know she was entitled to British citizenship and just suddenly found out when she was a teen or so 😄 Also, she knows fully well that people on work visas cannot access benefits currently but she still announced it as if her proposal is to implement that, clearly appealing to the smooth-brained lot who believe that immigrants get benefits from day 1 and asylum seekers are gifted iPhones, Nike shoes, and cars soon as they get off the dinghys (I'm not exaggerating - check the daily mail comment sections - people actually believe this). Everything she says and does is in bad faith to prop up her profile and ambition. Once you recognize this, she becomes very simple to understand. |
jedisco:😄 The whole discussion has been hilarious. Everyone in the world knows that no one calls farm workers expatriates despite the technical meaning of the word, and everyone knows precisely why, but let those deceiving no one but themselves continue - It's fun to watch. |
Kemi Badenough is incompetent and all of this is to distract from that. She is failing spectacularly in her new role and is reverting to what she knows best - rage bait. I remember asking here for anyone to name her accomplishments in public service other than attaining the positions...still crickets. Nothing she did in any of her previous portfolios stuck. Only thing she's known for is what she says in those roles - never anything she did. |
