Dangote, who gave the advice at the National Summit on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, with the theme: ‘Entrepreneurship, Job creation and Poverty reduction,’ in Lagos urged young entrepreneurs to focus on achieving their goals of establishing their businesses instead of dwelling on the challenges militating against their enterprises.

Dangote, who was represented by Group Executive Director, Stakeholders’ Management & Corporate Communications, Dangote Industries Ltd, Mansur Ahmed, said that all entrepreneurs in Nigeria face similar challenges, therefore, focus should be on finding ways of making the business succeed and move forward, rather than dwelling on constraints.

Addressing the young entrepreneurs, he counseled them to know themselves and identify their calling saying that ‘success is in your calling and character’. He challenged them to build the necessary skills and competence required to succeed. According to him, young entrepreneurs should think big, dream big and aim high.

Dangote, speaking on the theme of the summit: ‘Entrepreneurship, Job Creation and Poverty Reduction,’ said “the theme is quite apt, as the three terms are clearly interwoven. Entrepreneurs create jobs and when people are gainfully employed, the incidence of poverty is greatly reduced.

“This forum is coming at a time when Nigeria has been rated the largest economy in Africa with a gross domestic product (GDP) of $510billion (well above South Africa’s $350bn); the 26th largest economy in the world; and the leading destination for investment in Africa.”

However, he described the situation as a curious paradox that despite these excellent achievements, the level of unemployment in the country remains high.

Citing relevant reports, he said, “Reports put Nigeria’s unemployment rate at about 24 percent. The job creation figure released by the National Bureau of Statistics, (NBS) in September 2014, showed that the economy created 500,224 jobs across the country in the first six months of 2014.

“More efforts are obviously needed in view of the large army of unemployed Nigerians, particularly graduates, roaming the streets in search of often elusive white-collar jobs. As you may well imagine, this has a lot of security implications for the country.”

Students night gone sour for as a 19 year old student of Solent University, Southampton, United Kingdom got her head stuck in the bottle bank in car park of the Civic Centre, according to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Chelsie Redwood was hanging out with her friends drinking before the incident. She was probably drunk and at the same time looking for more drinks when the incident happened.

According to Mailonline Uk the fresher was ‘very embarrassed’ to be stuck in the bottle bank in car park of the Civic Centre, according to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

She eventually managed to pull herself free with the aid of a fire fighter and said: ‘I will never do that again’ she said.

A spokesman from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: ‘At 3.29am a female was released from a recycling bin using cutting equipment. A special equipment unit was called from Redbridge.’

They posted a profile of an attractive middle aged man with which they preyed on vulnerable women looking for love. With this profile, they sent love messages to women.

According to Mirror Uk some of their victims fell for the conman’s story that he was due to receive a £100 million inheritance from his father but that it was tied up by red tape in India.


Once the relationship had developed with the fake man, normally called James Richards, the conspirators started requesting cash.

At first the women were asked for a £700 legal fee by a fake solicitor but then the sums requested rose to up to £100,000, Winchester Crown Court heard. The trial was told that vulnerable women were conned out of £220,000, with one victim, Suzanne Hardman, handing over £174,000.

Emmanuel Oko that was at the center of the whole love scam was jailed eight years for fraud and four years for money laundry. The jail sentences were to run concurrently.

Ugwu received 46 weeks and Nusi got 18 months for their roles.

Officials at Navarro College have apologized to a Nigerian intending student that was rejected because of Ebola scare. Several applicants from Ebola suspected countries received rejection letter stating “Navarro College is not accepting international students from countries with confirmed Ebola cases.”

The institution official have apologized for what they called incorrect information regarding their applications to the institution.

The letters sent to these applicants were signed by signed by Navarro College’s international programs director, Elizabeth Pillans.


According to Washington Post the college in a stating to the media said

“Our college values its diverse population of international students,” the statement read. “This fall we have almost 100 students from Africa. Unfortunately, some students received incorrect information regarding their applications to the institution.”

The college says that it recently “restructured” its international department, with new recruitment efforts. “Our focus for 2014-15 is on China and Indonesia…We apologize for any misinformation that may have been shared with students.”
