To be honest, darkchild64 has presented a logical platform for a healthy debate. Its only fair that proponents of the Soul 'theory' substantiate their beliefs. |
Education / Re: From MBBS To Botany, Please I Need Suggestion! by Goodyshoes(m): 8:50am On Dec 28, 2017 |
OboOlora: Your post/suggestion makes it seem you assumed financial benefits to be the sole reason for studying courses. he hasn't stated that he intended studying MBBS simply because of money or what not, but you had to do a comparison of courses based on their estimated income. Also, no course is overrated, as the income for several courses are largely dependent on the economy of the country one practices in. take the case you gave as example, you stated that yoruba graduates over there earn more than Doctors here, a simple question which would logically follow; DO THE YORUBA GRADUATES EARN 1/5TH AS MUCH AS THE DOCTORS THERE?? Don't be misleading, there are several reasons one would want to study a course, it could be money, passion, influences etc. Don't limit the OP by making it seem like MBBS isn't lucrative while studying a Nigerian language is. . . Almost1122: My son, you have apparently done very well to get those scores. Bear in mind that your dreams should never die, NO MATTER WHAT. Firstly, you have to ask yourself what you really want and to what extent you're willing to go in pursuit of what you want, and forthwith give it your most positive energies and galvanize yourself towards it. I see you're ardently interested in being a Doctor, I'd advice you to keep up with the ambition, because ultimately, what matters most would be fulfillment. Do not let prevailing circumstances prevent you from getting to what you dream of. Give it another shot, Son. all the best. Cheers. . . . |

petra1: My post was succinct enough. . . We shouldn't over flog this issue, as you seem bent on enforcing this religious act- TITHING into the minds of the sheeple. My son, I hope you do not assume that I'm a preacher, as I clearly am not. I say this because of the series of questions you asked earlier on what I preach. If you must preach, learn to let go of material and financial gains, whether they come in the form of tithing or what not. Nice chatting. Cheers. |
Religion / Re: Christians Think Pastor Is Eating Their Tithe Money by Goodyshoes(m): 5:37pm On Nov 25, 2017 |
petra1: I haven't said doctrines that don't lead to salvation shouldn't be preached. Those are two mutually exclusive notions. I mean, rather, that tithing and similar money collection schemes are not necessary for a christian to go to 'heaven'. . They are strictly old testament doctrines, and were not advanced by Christ as written. I want you, if you will, to show where He advanced that. Using any reference you choose. If you, as a christian, is verily bothered about the salvation of man, then material things like money and tithes wouldn't be a priority and you wouldn't feel hurt when the notion/doctrine is challenged, whether or not it's challenged by a Christian. Cheers. |

Petik8: You say its the true religion? Might I ask, how did you arrive at that assertion with that level of certitude? I ask because I wonder how you are so sure that it the TRUE religion and how you objectively dismissed others as the false religion, because there couldn't be two true religions since they do not preach the same message. Kindly respond. 1 Like |

everdeen: The school doesn't have accreditation yet for admission into Medical school. Its clearly written, like you said, in your jamb brochure. Why then being confused?? Would you believe your school rumours or believe Jamb who is saddled with the task of admitting students?? You had better not make mistakes. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Veraatabeh: You get this wrong. It, apparently, is not a sin to own private jets, whether or not they're used for the purpose of preaching. What is rather wrong is the mass psychological manipulation employed in the sourcing of the funds used in making the purchase. You'd, for example, see cases where a pastor would tell how rich he is, or his net worth estimated by such things as private jets and schools etc. It's apparent that the pastor has no work besides deploying persuasive skills in coercing the sheep to part with their hard earned money. How then was the funds gotten if not from the collections from members. Pastors preach and ride big cars and private jets when you have terribly poor members dropping their meagre offering every Sunday and going home hungry. . Give these things a second thought. |
Religion / Re: Christians Think Pastor Is Eating Their Tithe Money by Goodyshoes(m): 12:58pm On Nov 25, 2017 |
petra1: I believe you also are of the opinion that it isn't prerequisite for salvation, why then is it of utmost importance to you or anyone who preaches it?, since you agree that: 1. It's not prerequisite to salvation. 2. Jesus did not preach it. Why then should it be enforced on the steeple, except you infer that doctrines not necessary for salvation should be priority. . Any neutralist would see that this Daddy Freeze message hit a raw nerve amongst pastors and tithe collectors, and all the responses so far are simply to protect pastoral investments by dissuading the steeple from learning the truth. Cheers. 1 Like |

petra1: There's a saying: 'HE WHO ASSERTS MUST PROVE'. . The onus lies on the one who advances the proposition that tithes should be paid, not on he who opposes. I'd love you to show, in very clear terms, why tithing is prerequisite to salvation as a Christian. Except if you feel it isn't prerequisite for salvation as a christian, which would further advance his point that it is not a must neither is it a biblical principle preached by Christ. Cheers. |

Religion / Re: Christians Think Pastor Is Eating Their Tithe Money by Goodyshoes(m): 8:09pm On Nov 24, 2017 |
petra1: It's not helpful to assume. I do not and have never been a subscriber to any of Freeze's messages. Nevertheless, he raised some salient points on a pertinent doctrine preached by lots of the Pentecostal churches out there. He made some claims; howbeit his own opinions, if you or any other fellow feels threatened by his messages, as relates to the tithing, its trite to offer counter propositions using the Bible, the very Bible you both subscribe to rather than any other actions. Matter of fairly, the various responses by some pastors who made attempts to counter him only sounded emotional in a bid to protect their investments, and dissuade sheeple from opening their eyes. Not a single response was backed up with scripture. So, do not presume that I subscribe to him or any other religious proponent. I stood from afar and saw a biased perspective. Cheers. 1 Like |

OrestesDante: I'm not an atheist, but I'd make attempts to respond. Atheism is not necessarily the questioning of God, because that already assumes that the atheist presumes what God might be and then presses further to question the existence. Atheism isn't about questioning, rather scepticism deals with questioning the plausibilities of notions; in this case- the existence of God, as you put up there. The fellow isn't necessarily on his way to atheism, after all there are other religious sects that advance such notions; such as denying the existence of hell. Cheers. |

Zhinurayn17: What do you mean by 262 in Jamb and 68%?? Nevertheless, its possible to switch courses to Medicine and Surgery, though it depends on the school. In some schools, like it was in my days, you'd need to have a minimum of 4.0 CGPA at the end of your year one to qualify to switch over. Some also, back then, switched, after the end of the course(Physiology) they studied, over to MBBS upon attaining a second class upper and continued from year 3 MBBS. I doubt these still happens often now. One word: Take your books very seriously if you intend switching to medical school. Cheers. |

Veraatabeh: He explicitly explained his position in the tithing topic, and not a single Pastor, who said otherwise replied with biblical backing. Apparently you do not understand the workings of these churches and the whole tithing system. You really do not have to follow just anyone simply because they're elderly or they're in some position where they talk and people listen. Think and ask questions, and you'd be guided, however slowly, into making rational and informed decisions. Cheers. |

cris07: Your premise is a bit flawed. How can your moral compass on WhatsApp a sin or not be dictated by who you perceive as a man of God or not. Reversely, your logic would propose that you accept EVERYTHING those 'real' men of God you claim do as righteous. . Very importantly, state who a real man of God is. And, NO, taking good palm wine isn't a sin, son. Cheers. 1 Like |

DrOluwatobhy: Wish you all the best, Son. . . Realistically, you would do better in this exams so long as you've improved in your efforts. Academic success isn't a jamboree, its based on principles of hardworking and discipline. Your passing the exam is not related to how much you believe or pray, rather the committed efforts you've put in. I await good news, seeing that you also wanna be a doctor. Good luck, Son. Being an ardent follower and visitor to the religion section, I must say, that I've noticed a change in the quality of posts and topics being discussed. For a long time as a guest, before registering, I ALWAYS visited the religion section, where there was a great, insightful and rich discourses, debates and teachings. It is, however, not the case anymore. Anyone who was regular here as early as 2009 - 2012 would understand truly what I mean. I actually wonder where those great posters, some of which I learnt a great deal from, have all gone to. Most have stopped posting, others are occasional posters now. I wish the good old days when we had the likes of, but not limited to; Deepsight: My all time favourite poster. Viaro Plaetton PastorAIO Krayola InesQor Noetic Davidylan M_nwankwo:Truly wise.
