Do Philosophical hypothesis accept religious thesis?
E.g in the above question someone asked what is the essence of man on earth when he will die latter. Assuming i was to adumbrate on this, will religious ideologies (probably Christian Doctrines)be allowed for me to use to prove my point?
Good question there.....
Firstly, you must understand that philosophical precepts and notions would not align properly with religious ideologies, as the latter is based on faith of some sort. Like the previous poster said, you would need to advance an argument for the religious concepts you intend to employ in your defense of any argument you might bring for the essence of man on earth and rationalize them before they would be philosophically sound. Now, this is where there may be gray areas, as religion is not rational, rather its based on faith.( which might as well include assumptions)

With the foregoing, we can agree that the true answer to your question wouldn't stem from religious ideologies....

However, I'd like to hear your views on the subject topic...... so we could rouse a discourse....

Cheers.

OP....

Honestly, this is very petty and shallow. Though, not a christian..... I must say, that you're doing a poor job of discrediting the Bible in this manner.
The Bible is a profound book of wisdom and as such, I encourage one to get a copy.... Even though, not everything might be indeed necessary and helpful...
However, most of the tales in the Bible is not evidenced and not rational.

If you want your readers to have an interesting read, then articulately make your points.

And also note that you rationalize your counter argument while discrediting the ones in the Bible.

Cheers.

FamilyRe: Feminism: The True Colour by Goodyshoes(m): 5:23pm On Mar 09, 2016
Feminism is still at the nadir in this country....

Reason being that our society is one driven by cultural and religious standings.....
And as such, views feminism in an odd and strange manner.

I usually don't debate this, it simply cannot gain much grounds in Nigeria.....

A man of quality isn't threatened by a woman of equality........ But caution must be appreciated, because equal rights come with equal responsibility.

This is most ridiculous....
Kids do that all the time, you shouldn't be having those tendencies and wishes at this point.
Asking for advice here is worse....

If you so much desired the whole cross dressing thingy, why seek opinions....
If you're certain that its apprioprate and trendy.... Go ahead with it and learn from the sequel....
Haven't seen anything funnier and odd lately.....

It'd be a fair deal if he keeps to his side of the deal.

Funny question....

You're about leaving school and what's on your mind is to propose??

It'd benefit you more to first get settled and get a stable source of income.
Your proposal shouldn't be based on the fact that her friends think odd of the relationship.....

EducationRe: University Or School Of Nursing, Which Is Better? by Goodyshoes(m): 4:57pm On Mar 09, 2016
Tbells91:
Hello everyone, I have a friend who wants to study nursing and chose LAUTECH. As a graduate of that school and her reputation as a time-waster due to recurring strike and all, i'm thinking it would be better to go to a school of nursing and midwifery instead cz she's 21years old already. So pls I need your advice to be able to advise her appropriately on what to do.
What's your view on this?
Thanks.
Definitely a university.
You can compare the two institutions.
School of nursing proceeded the undergraduate course in nursing in Nigeria, however, one, being the university, offers a holistic educational experience and training unlike the school of nursing where one studies for three years and leaves with some certificate.

Advice the individual to pursue her nursing career in the university system.

Cheers.

Hello smiley

My stance is that some mystical force or entity that is currently alien to humanity could exist. But as you said, I completely disagree with religion's standpoint on it -- anything that claims to know what "it" is, what it wants (if it even wants anything), what it thinks (if it even "thinks" ), how it looks (if it even has an appearance), etc.

I don't entirely find the belief in some non-personal, non-dogmatified deity one loosely refers to as "God" problematic. I'm very open to discourse about things like where the natural laws that govern our universe come from, how powerful we are as human beings and how much we're truly capable of, what happened before the big bang and the existence of a multiverse. Some people like to refer to such concepts using words like "intelligence" or "god-force" or "life-force". I have no problem with that sort of thing, although I feel it can sometimes get in the way of useful scientific inquiry, or even cause people to conflate science with pseudoscientific "woo-woo".
Aptly written.
Sadly..... Most people are very much religious and dogmatic. Hence, the notion of God as an eternal creator is then misconstrued and given all those personal attributes which are very much unverified.

Enjoy the day.
Cheers.

what is the goalpost here?
Goalpost here simply means the criteria for salvation and remission of sins.

Where did you see salvation in the old testament?
There was remission of sins by blood sacrifices done by the high priest.
What else would you regard as salvation, if not the remission of sins and being made wholesome and pure....
This is enshrined in the old testament. Clearly written and explained.

This was what was required to be made right with God as at then. Coming down to the new testament, there comes Jesus and the salvific concept of the cross.

Would you then say there hasn't been a changehuh

When Jesus came he didn't set a new law rather he brought grace and through grace did forgiveness and salvation come.
That doesn't change the fact that the goalpost was shifted midway.
The criteria for salvation in the old testament and in the new testament differs.
Its clear....

Would you then contend that there hasn't been a CHANGE?

You clearly state that you don't listen to what the pastor says.
That's not very true if you ask me....
I'm certain that you'd go to a church service this morning.
Won't you listen to the pastor there??

On a more serious note....
I'd love your interpretation on the passage quoted therein.

I think you should go read the passage in the Bible and stop relying on a meme. The guy up there has said it all. Stop looking for excuse to justify your not serving God.
There are lots of inaccuracies within the Bible. Hence we cannot, nobody can actually say the bible is totally inerrant.

Have you ever wondered why pastors cherry pick verses in explaining the Bible?
I'd give you an example.....

If I were to ask you your biblical basis for tithing, I assume you might jump to the usual Mal 3...
Reason being, pastors would hardly ever talk about or mention the other portions of the Bible where tithing is expressly stated, simply because its counterproductive and not in tandem with the beneficial mannerisms its put across to other church members

Let me give you a teaser....

Read up Deuteronomy 14: 22-29.

Cheers.

Yeah it's a fantastic story if you take the time to study it urself.
I fear that you might have misrepresented me by misunderstanding what I meant by fantastic stories.
Simply put..... The Bible, as much as I regard it as a profound collection of wisdom and deep truths, is very much filled with legends and fantastic(apparently magical) concepts which bemuses the rational mind.

Have you studied in detail the Bible??

Please take note of the statement below ;

'His father Judah told him to fulfill his duty to his brother by entering into a levirate marriage with his brother's widow'. A first Testament law like many others that Jesus came to modify later.

Also during the era of the first testament Levirate marriages were acceptable unto the Hebrew tribe, this custom keeps the wife in the family rather than rendering her useless if she lose her husband.

It was his duty to perform that right to his brothers wife. He knew about this. Even in our present day Nigeria such marriages occurs.
Just asking......

Since you imply that a law was changed midway, to wit- the n we testament t as a sequel to the old testament...... Do you further advance that the goalpost was shifted midway also??
As its still Jehovah who gave the old laws.... And you say Jesus came and modified the old laws and set down new ones.....
Do you further imply a changing standard??

I'm always curious.

This is a weak attempt at convincing people on the need to go to church.

Buttress your points well.
You'd hardly convince any rational mind.
Not everyone necessarily wants to go and dash out some money to some MOG and spend time engaging in religious exercises.

I ask this, not from the religious perspective..... Rather from the philosophical and ontological point of view.....
Simply put, I do not imply the notion of personal Gods espoused by religions like the Jewish god and other likes.
